I'm not even sure what to say or how to feel about the spin off situation, except that I am sad. Like right down into my bones, sad.

It's difficult to have assumed we had the spin off to look forward to and then find out two years later, near the end of the show after they neglected caryl for 16 episodes, that actually we don't. It's a kick in the gut but here's the thing, I won't ever regret being a part of this fandom even if I very much regret allowing myself to become invested in this show.

The idea of caryl ending for good is devastating when I thought we had a few more years left, but what's also upsetting is thinking that soon the fandom may die off as well.

Right now, it's hard for me to even scroll by gifs of them, and I am 100% done with the show, but eventually I'll dust myself off and start writing because the caryl I've read by so many lovely authors, and the ones that I've written myself, are something no one can take from us.

So I'll be here, and I hope you all will too because the reality is, I'll only be here for as long as there's an audience for what I put out. I think that goes for a lot of other writers too. If the interaction is still here, we can keep going even if the show fucks us over, but once that interaction is gone, once the readers are gone, then eventually we will be too.

I know it's hard right now, so take some time for yourself if you're feeling anywhere near as badly as I am. And when you're ready, if you are, then come find us authors doing our best to keep caryl alive. 

We'll be in aisle eleven trying to mop up a spill with a fix it fic, ready to make you smile with some fluff, or getting a little nsfw or if you're down for that. There's even angst with actual resolution on the menu, I'm sure.

Caryl is real, it always has been. We were not fools for falling for them.

No matter what happens, Carol and Daryl will still be falling in love a thousand times over in a thousand different stories.

And then they'll fall in love again.
