Thinking about this and you know what’s fucking annoying is that I’m sure Mark almost never gets asked about Simple Creatures. Because it’s slated as a Big Deal for Alex to work with this influential star while it was some unimpactful, kitschy side project for Mark. A step up for Alex and a cute step down for Mark. I always understood that boring framing but I continue to detest it, considering it was mostly the ATL fans upholding the excitement, less of a leap for us than what constitutes your average elder male Blink/Mark fan, but just because those people didn’t get it doesn’t make it any lesser a passion project for Mark or uninteresting because those fans who are still allowed more credibility didn’t rally.

Okay so paramore is really only tangentially related here, like 6 degrees of John Nolan kinda thing. Also when I went searching to make sure I had this right I found some of this goes much deeper than I remembered/knew and turns out Jesse and John are not still friends so I am adding it to my primer lmao. But anyway long story short at one point Jesse and John were also bffs with max bemis the singer of say anything, there’s a whole lot of drama there too but not the point of this ask. Anyway I believe during the time all the funding was going on and after john left TBS, Jesse was dating Sherri DuPree of the band Eisley, and Adam Lazzara was engaged to Chauntelle DuPree, also of Eisley (the band are all siblings) and this was after Adam cheated on John’s little sister. Also John was in Straylight Run and dating their merch girl (who might have been in high school?? I can’t confirm this). So Jesse cheats on Sherri, allegedly because he proposed and she turned him down, and john cheats on his merch girl gf and she starts dating max bemis. Then Sherri starts dating Chad Gilbert (you know the one you almost killed) and marries him and their other sister Stacy starts dating Zac Farro, meanwhile Adam cheats on their sister Chauntelle like a month before they were supposed to get married and they break up. Sherri divorces Chad and Stacy and Zac break up and Chad starts dating Hayley and then Sherri marries Max Bemis and they’re literally still together. And John is married to a DIFFERENT Straylight Run merch girl and Adam is married to some girl he met who was literally friends with the DuPree family. There are also several songs about all this drama (not about Hayley I don’t think tho, but she did get a lot of hate for dating Chad which is like… y’all have it backwards he’s the one that sucks) but yeah long story short the bandom world is small and they all fuck each other. Full disclosure I may just copy paste some of this directly bc I’m lazy btw
