It has been.  A crazy week this week with trade shows and new dog.  But luckily it’s a long weekend so now I can take these three days to make sure baby is adjusted 🖤 She’s over a year old, is done growing… part Black Lab, part Xoloitzcuintle/Xolo, surprisingly small.  The shelter gave her a name that I am still deciding on whether to keep, as I wish to call her Melita but she already seems to know her shelter name and the rest of my family likes it.  Perhaps melita will be her nickname, but it’s what I’ll call her on here.  Right now she is Sleeping next to me.  She’s a massive Houdini who has escaped every enclosure I’ve tried putting her in, so we’re going to spend the day cleaning and then I’m going to get groceries and see if she is better just being left to roam, and in a month or two I will be getting her a companion, but only after some more training.  She knows the deck is for bathroom, though I haven’t gotten her to use the pad yet, but that will come soon!  She is very skittish and shy, even of me still, but she’s been through a lot this week so!  Patience, and she sleeps well through the night.

Working on some commands… she doesn’t know come yet, so I usually have to gently slip her leash on but once I do she’ll follow.  Very sweet, very smart.  Just needs time 🖤 I come home from work every lunch now to walk her and let her use the washroom but it’ll be good to have some bonding downtime.  She’s not used to the city sounds or smells yet, and the temperature was an adjustment (from 30 degrees to -25), and she’s destroyed a few things (like my moccasins), but!  All things considered?  It has been a good first week.
