Strange that the people in India who want to endlessly debate whether Beyonce wearing henna and face-chains is 'problematic' and 'misappropriative' are completely unaffected by the racism of their own country and culture. It's not that one must be flawless to point out the flaws of another, but we're especially good at ignoring the violence in our own homes, and running off to join protests for the rights of an imagined "other". What are the actual harms of cultural misappropriation? Is it just feeling sulky because "you stole my cool Indian thing", or is it something deeper, like denying minority populations the right to live with dignity? because guess what, that's what India has been doing to others for years:
