I need an angsty found family AU where Olrox, instead of killing Richter’s mother as revenge for taking his lover instead goes “you took someone I loved, so I’ll take someone you cherish” and up and kidnaps little Richter. One second the boy is there and the next, shadows descend onto the empty street, and the moment after — he’s just gone.

THE DRAMA of Olrox traveling the world and keeping the kid at first purely to spite and worry his mother, or as part of some evil plan to lure her to her death, but quickly grows attached to him and they become this duo of vamp dad and his (not) son. The angst of Richter hating his abductor and crying and kicking him and telling him that he hates his guts, but when night falls and nightmares force little Belmont to turn and toss in his sleep, it’s Olrox’s lullabies that keep him calm, sung in a language he doesn’t know but with a gentleness only a parent could provide.

And as Olrox puts a hand on Richter’s head, carding his hair he realises, terror-struck, that he doesn’t want to let the kid go. He comes to a horrific conclusion that this is his baby now, whether the kid likes it or not, and it sends the old man’s mind into a spin.

Richter is unlike anything Olrox ever had. He’s never been a father, and doesn’t know how express love and care he’s so desperate to provide. He thinks of turning his newfound son more than once, but settles on waiting as for a little vampire hunter, an event like that would be far too traumatic.

And let’s talk about Richie himself for a second. This poor baby was about to travel to his aunt’s place one night and then got express-adopted by an immortal who is surprisingly gentle with him, yet doesn’t plan on letting him go. As result, baby Belmont throws tantrums every chance he gets, tries using fire-magic against the man (to no avail) and attempts to escape at every turn. At first, he’s in fight or flight mode almost constantly because he knows that the dragon vampire has to be using him for some evil ploy…but then weeks pass, a month, and there doesn’t seem to be much of an evil ploy happening. The two of them simply travel from place to place, where Richter has to awkwardly stand while his…kidnapper? Temporary guardian? Is running errands and talks to other gross, smelly vampires.

He hates Olrox, he’s confused, he feels a strange warmth in his chest when the vampire picks him up and carries him around when he’s too tired to walk, or checks up on him to make sure he’s warm and well-fed.

Just imagine the bittersweetness of Richie developing a bond with his captor in these horrible circumstances, and they start to get along. He feels all kinds of guilt and self-hate for it, every time he fails to stifle a giggle at Olrox’s jokes or can’t help but lean in when he offers comfort.

It’s just such a messy, tragic dynamic, don’t you think? Should I write anything on it? Idk, my ask box is open in any case 🤷

i feel like nocturne season 2 is going to be SO emotional. like. mizrak is gonna have to make a real decision, the abbott and god or olrox. and whatever decision he makes is going to DESTROY him.

also i feel like it may go more into the ethics of vampirism and (what theyve already touched on) night creatures. in the original, night creatures were, for the most part, very monstrous looking and iirc only fly eyes was capable of speech and things like remembering his past life. in nocturne, theyre more human. we have edouard and jacques. theyre more humanoid and obviously can speak, have their own thoughts, and remember at least a little. is this an effect of it being a machine and not a real forgemaster? or is it just because theyre setting up a dive into more about the ethics of night creatures and who/what they once were?

also, the ethics of vampirism. in nocturne, vampirism does seem to be a metaphor for colonization. but if you ignore that, just see it as straight up vampirism, why are they seen as evil, really? they have to kill to live, just like humans do. why should they be killed for just sustaining themselves?

i hope olroxs backstory delves into that a little, the fact that julia belmont killed his lover solely because he was a vampire. doesnt seem justified to me. maybe richter will have to consider that. face his trauma. see it from a new point of view.

also, alucard. he essentially rejected his vampirism and has dedicated the 300 years to killing vampires. he should reconsider that as well. not all vampires are evil. some of them simply want to live. some of them probably didnt even want to be vampires like i suspect is the case with olrox, i feel like a spanish conquistador probably turned him against his will. it would be interesting to see alucard and olrox interact.

idk maybe im just rambling. not sure if this is so much a prediction as it is me stating what i would like it to go into. might add more to this later. idk. id like to hear yalls takes on things.

Quetzalcoatl

So, Olrox has a Quetzalcoatl form. And that one is interesting, right? Though it also makes a lot of sense then in the context of the series. Well, kinda.

Let me get one thing out of the way: There is a tendency in western media to say "a Quetzalcoatl", as if there were many. Because a lot of western understanding does understand Quetzalcoatl as just another form of dragon. He is not.

I am not gonna claim, that I know a ton of Aztec/Mexica mythology. I do not. So, I cannot do the kinda comparative mythology stuff that I can do with western and Asian mythology. I am fairly certain that there is some comparative mythology going on in South America, too. But... I just do not know about it.

But what I can tell you, is that Quetzalcoatl is one of the creator deities within the Mexica mythology. And that he is the God of the planet we call Venus, the god of the wind, the sun, of learning and of knowledge. (Which is doubly interesting, because the old CV show had this core theme of knowledge going on.)

Quetzalcoatl presented himself as the feathered serpent, which is also what his name means. And Olrox having this form implies something within the context of the show.

Because with Erzsebet the show establishes that the vampires can drink from the blood of a god and take some of their powers. And Olrox having this form (and also his powers relating to thunder) implies that he might have drunken from the blood of the actual Quetzalcoatl.

Interesting is of course the powerlevel there in comparison with Erzsebet's Sekhmet. Sekhmet of course is a war goddess and as such has a lot of fighting power. But also, Quetzalcoatl is one of the highest deities of the Mexica people.

What is interesting, too, is that Erzsebet (if she is really the historical figure) should be about the same age as Olrox. A bit younger in fact.

And just going off the little I know about Quetzalcoatl... For one, it is interesting he is also a sun deity. But also, I do think that Olrox probably should be able to take on Erzsebet. And the reason why he does not do that is very probably interesting.
