Omega... The Pilot, a study

I keep thinking about this moment from the S3 trailer...and how much Tech (but also Hunter and Wrecker) have prepared Omega for this moment, (whatever it entails).

She has had a long journey of pilot training going back to Season 1 and I am SO excited to see it potentially pay off big in Season 3.

Recapping Omega's journey becoming a pilot so far....

In S1E9 Bounty Lost, Omega does some Piloting trying to escape Cad Bane and Fennec Shand. She was obviously familiar with these flight pods since they were Kaminoan. And I am going to assume that the malfunctioning of the flight pod was because of the abandoned pod itself, and not Omega's doing.

Then shortly after that in S1E10 Devil's Deal, while Omega is giving Hera a tour of the Marauder, she tells Hera that Tech won't let her train at flying the ship until she can recite ALL of the ship's specifications from memory.

Omega and Hera then have a nice exchange where Hera tells Omega that flying is only half about spec's but also about "a feeling". I love this so much because while of course she will get the finest education from Professor Tech and the other boys, having this additional not-by-the-book insight on what might make a good pilot is so great for Omega. (maybe we will see this come to fruition in season 3.....?!?!)

Next in S1E13 War Mantle, Omega is tasked with Piloting the Marauder and stabilizing it close to the mountainside in order to rescue Tech Hunter Echo and Gregor. She only keeps the ship steady for a few moments before Tech comes in to take over, but she got some good practice in!

Presumably she is willing and able to do this because at this point she has been getting some beginner level of flying lessons with Tech. Which means she Also memorized ALL of the ships spec's. (if at this point she Hadn't been receiving flying lessons with Tech yet, then it was probably the emergency rescue of it all and Wrecker would of course be the most encouraging that she take the wheel)

In the Season 2 opening episode Spoils of War, Tech and Omega with a very obvious Teacher/Student dynamic, suggesting they have been doing this for a significant amount of time and at Least since back in S1E10. Now Omega is studying and memorizing ALL of the ships in the Imperial FLEET. Which idk sounds like a Lot. (But also... I BET this will come in handy in Season 3 maybe?!?!)

Later in the same episode, it appears that Omega Also gets regularly scheduled Quiz time with Hunter. (which is ADORABLE)

Then All of that studying pays off immediately in the same episode when Tech Echo and Omega escape a cargo ship via a cargo container. Which was Omega's suggestion since she knew about the container's reentry thrusters from her studies.

And Tech is even Impressed!

There is a long stretch in Season 2 before there is any more Omega doing Pilot things. But Wow is it worth the Wait!

In S2E14 Tipping Point, FINALLY a Flying Lessons scene with Tech and Omega 🥹 and it's not even the first lesson! Based on their conversation it is apparent they have had Several lessons.

This is a HUGE payoff all the way back to S1E10 when Tech wanted Omega to memorize the Ships specs before training to fly.

From what we see in this Flying Lesson, Omega definitely knows her way around the ships maneuverability and limits, but she still needs practice with Landing. Tech gives her some constructive feedback and they seem to have a good rhythm with training.

Aaaand Now for some crack pot Season 3 Trailer speculation/theorizing...

I think this is definitely Omega at this crash site....especially considering the other shot we get of her in a Pilot seat.

I also think all of the subsequent shots in the trailer of that same shuttle type is also Omega piloting the ship while escaping from Tantis. If this is correct, it's clear that the shuttle is hit mid-escape and that is probably what causes it to eventually have to be crash landed.

And then those last two shots on the bottom right...it's a long shot but I think the shuttle shooting at the Troopers could be Omega (but maybe not) and the Doggo attacking the trooper was for SURE at the crash site with Omega and is probably protecting her here, or just going wild at the trooper. either way I support this doggo friend.

would you consider (if you havent already) making a rec list for books/authors/poets/etc? your breadth of classics knowledge and the source material you draw inspiration from always intrigues me.

I'd be happy to, but I think I might (accidentally) give the impression of being more familiar with a lot of these things than I actually am haha.

I'll focus on classics or classics-related recs, but there are some things I'll throw in here because, even though they aren't classics (or classics in the sense I think you probably mean, as in directly related to ancient Greece etc.), they've influenced what I’ve written in some way. I should also be clear, I haven’t read all of these things, sometimes only pieces, or they’re things I’ve been meaning to read and keep putting off but people might be interested in. And I’m definitely not an expert. I’m not properly educated on these topics, so I’m not sure if anything I include might be considered a bad resource by someone with a background in this field.

Also, as I was putting together this list… I was gawking at the prices of so many of these. Like 90% I grabbed at my local secondhand bookstore and I would encourage anyone interested to try to get these used (Thriftbooks is an online store to look at if you don’t have a good local store, though I’m not sure where all it ships to) or from a site like Project Gutenberg etc. Libraries are always good too, of course (some might be on Archive.org, which is a place where you can check out books online). I may be able to help you find ways to get your hands on some of these sources if you’re struggling to find it.

Fiction

Aethiopica by Heliodorus (tr. Moses Hadas) - An ancient Greek novel. “The Aethiopica tells the story of an Ethiopian princess and a Thessalian prince who undergo a series of perils (battles, voyages, piracy, abductions, robbery, and torture) before their eventual happy marriage in the heroine’s homeland.” Summary from here.

An Oresteia (tr. Anne Carson) - Carson’s translations of Aiskhylos' Agamemnon, Sophokles' Elektra, and Euripides' Orestes. Literally anything Carson touches is gold, please just read everything translated or written by her here, even if you’ve read other translations. “After the murder of her daughter Iphigeneia by her husband, Agamemnon, Klytaimestra exacts a mother's revenge, murdering Agamemnon and his mistress, Kassandra. Displeased with Klytaimestra's actions, Apollo calls on her son, Orestes, to avenge his father's death with the help of his sister Elektra. In the end, Orestes is driven mad by the Furies for his bloody betrayal of family. Condemned to death by the people of Argos, he and Elektra must justify their actions ― or flout society, justice and the gods.”

Arete: Greek Sports from Ancient Sources by Stephen G. Miller - All about the concept of arete. Exactly what it says on the tin.

The Constraints of Desire: The Anthropology of Sex and Gender in Ancient Greece by John J. Winkler - Another that’s exactly what it says on the tin. “For centuries, classical scholars have intensely debated the "position of women" in classical Athens. Did women have a vast but informal power, or were they little better than slaves? Using methods developed from feminist anthropology, Winkler steps back from this narrowly framed question and puts it in the larger context of how sex and gender in ancient Greece were culturally constructed. His innovative approach uncovers the very real possibilities for female autonomy that existed in Greek society.” (My friend has another book from this collection (?) called The New Ancient World, which I want to get if I ever actually… finish reading this one. But that one is called One Hundred Years of Sexuality, I think, and there’s another called Games of Venus, which also looks very interesting so I want to mention them.)

The Golden Ass (Metamorphoses) by Apuleius (tr. E.J. Kenney) - This is another that feels like it might go without saying, but whatever. This is where the story of Cupid & Psyche is told. If I understand correctly, this is the oldest (surviving, and possibly only?) extended account of Eros & Psyche’s myth, though art of the two appears much earlier so I assume Apuleius was drawing from older sources. “Written towards the end of the second century AD, The Golden Ass tells the story of the many adventures of a young man whose fascination with witchcraft leads him to be transformed into a donkey. The bewitched Lucius passes from owner to owner - encountering a desperate gang of robbers and being forced to perform lewd 'human' tricks on stage - until the Goddess Isis finally breaks the spell and initiates Lucius into her cult.” Actually, this is the physical copy I have and I got it just because I really wanted a physical copy, but I haven’t read it. I read a version for free online years ago when my obsession with Cupid & Psyche first took shape and I… have no clue who translated that one. But, well, here we are. You can definitely find this on Project Gutenberg, probably by a different translator, though.

Greek Fictional Letters (edited by C.D.N. Costa) - “This book explores a relatively unfamiliar and under-appreciated area of Greek literature: imaginary letters written between about 100 BC and 500 AD. Many of them are light-hearted and funny, and describe the lives of ordinary people--fisherman, farmers, courtesans. Others look at more serious and philosophical aspects of life. All the letters are translated, and the notes offer help to both expert and less informed readers.”

Grief Lessons: Four Plays by Euripides (tr. Anne Carson) - Carson’s translations of the plays Herakles, Hekabe, Hippolytos, and Alkestis. “Herakles, in which the hero swaggers home to destroy his own family; Hekabe, set after the Trojan War, in which Hektor’s widow takes vengeance on her Greek captors; Hippolytos, about love and the horror of love; and the strange tragic-comedy fable Alkestis, which tells of a husband who arranges for his wife to die in his place.”

The Iliad by Homer (tr. Robert Fagles) - Do I need to include this? I’m including this, if only to say this is the translation I have.

Medea by Euripides - This is, of course, the play depicting what happens when Jason attempts to remarry, betraying Medea. I can’t find my copy right now to specify which translation, but I didn’t particularly enjoy it anyway (the translation, not the play to be clear). Here’s a copy on Gutenberg.

The Odyssey by Homer (tr. Emily Wilson) - Again, just noting this is the translation I have more than anything.

The Voyage of Argo: The Argonautica by Apollonius of Rhodes (tr. E.V. Rieu) - Covers Jason’s quest. You can find various translations for free on Project Gutenberg.

Nonfiction

The Black Andromeda by Elizabeth McGrath - This is a paper about Princess Andromeda’s race and how it has been depicted throughout art and literature. It’s relevant to the Aethiopica and how it handles or fails to handle race.

Burial customs, the afterlife and the pollution of death in ancient Greece by Francois Pieter and Louise Cilliers - A research paper covering exactly what it says it does. I haven’t read much of this even though I really should and the parts I have read are so, so interesting.

The Encyclopedia of Ancient Greece by Carlos Gómez - General history.

Eros the Bittersweet: An Essay by Anne Carson - All about love as the ancient Greeks conceptualized it. I beg you all to read this. This is the one I’ve posted a bunch of my notes on to twitter. “A book about romantic love, Eros the Bittersweet is Anne Carson's exploration of the concept of "eros" in both classical philosophy and literature. Beginning with, "It was Sappho who first called eros 'bittersweet.' No one who has been in love disputes her," Carson examines her subject from numerous points of view, creating a lyrical meditation in the tradition of William Carlos Williams's Spring and All and William H. Gass's On Being Blue.”

The Gardens of Adonis: Spices in Greek Mythology by Marcel Detienne (tr. Janet Lloyd) - I haven’t read much of this, but I know I need to. “Rich with implications for the history of sexuality, gender issues, and patterns of Hellenic literary imagining, Marcel Detienne's landmark book recasts long-standing ideas about the fertility myth of Adonis.”

Granddaughter of the Sun: A Study of Euripides' Medea by C.A.E. Luschnig - I’ve also been posting screenshots from this as I read it because it makes me super unhinged. All about Her… “By looking at aspects of Medea that are largely overlooked in the criticism, this book aims at an open and multiple reading. It shows that stories presented in the drama of 5th century Athens are not unrelated to human beings who actually exist.”

Magika Hiera: Ancient Greek Magic and Religion - “This collection challenges the tendency among scholars of ancient Greece to see magical and religious ritual as mutually exclusive and to ignore ‘magical’ practices in Greek religion.”

Portraits of Grief: Death, Mourning and the Expression of Sorrow on White-Ground Lêkythoi by Molly Evangeline Allen - Someone’s research on funerary vases. I haven’t read much of it, but I came across it while trying to find other info and it looked interesting.

Poetry

Ovid: The Erotic Poems (tr. Peter Green) - Ovid is a Roman poet, but I think his work might be of interest. “This collection of Ovid's poems deals with the whole spectrum of sexual desire, ranging from deeply emotional declarations of eternal devotion to flippant arguments for promiscuity.”

Ovid’s Poetry of Exile (tr. David R. Slavitt) - More of Ovid’s work.

Sappho: A New Translation of the Complete Works (tr. Diane J. Rayor) - Please… Please… any translations of Sappho you can get… read them…

Miscellaneous

Desire, Discord and Death: Approaches to Near Eastern Myth by Neal H. Walls - Obviously not Greek, but I feel like anyone interested in ancient mythology about queerness, love, death, and sex would find this really interesting. “The three essays presented in this volume reveal the symbolic complexity and poetic visions of ancient Near Eastern mythology. The author explores the interrelated themes of erotic desire, divine conflict, and death's realm in selected ancient Mesopotamian and Egyptian mythological narratives using contemporary methods of literary analysis. Topics include the construction of desire in the Gilgamesh epic, a psychoanalytic approach to 'The Contendings of Horus and Seth', and gender and the exercise of power in the stormy romance of Nergal and Ereshkigal.”

Erotism: Death and Sensuality by Georges Bataille (tr. Mary Dalwood) - I haven’t read much of this and I know based on Bataille’s fiction (my man was really on some shit)… this is sure to be really unhinged. But it’s all about life, death, religion, and sex. “Bataille challenges any single discourse on the erotic. The scope of his inquiry ranges from Emily Bronte to Sade,from St. Therese to Claude Levi-Strauss and Dr. Kinsey.  The subjects he covers include prostitution, mythical ecstasy, cruelty, and organized war. Investigating desire prior to and extending beyond the realm of sexuality, he argues that eroticism is ‘a psychological quest not alien to death.’” I feel like… there probably needs to be trigger warnings for this one, but who knows what lol. This is actually the main book I’ve been using to help me learn French too, which is… a choice on my part for real, but that’s getting really off topic.

Okay. So. I was looking back at some of your Blackberry Bushes asks, and you mentioned that gender-flipping a character would be one of the worst things an adaptation could do. Which naturally made me wonder about gender-flipping your characters. So even if this is anathema, I have to ask: how would your stories be different if your mains were the opposite gender? Or if that's too much, whose story would be most different if they were the opposite gender, and whose story would be least affected?

Gender-flipping just to gender-flip or for the sake of a ship or to make some kind of Statement is what I take issue with, but going into this with an awareness of how much is going to change...that's an interesting question! Let's look at this for each of my main seven, assuming for purposes of argument that everyone else in this continuity remains the same unless stated otherwise.

Raphael (Rachel) would be in a different position as a male because of family expectations. There are two options here: either he gets sent to the naval academy with his elder brother or he stays with his mother and sisters in their father's absence as a sort of substitute "man of the family." If the first, then he is much less likely to find the door behind the blackberry bushes and make a friend on the other side, and the story is now about how a timid nervous wreck tries to survive the naval academy (which probably isn't really what he wants to do with his life). If the second, then he's still under a lot of pressure, but of a different kind. In a house full of female relatives and a dying grandfather, he would be expected to take on an almost adult protector role, which he really isn't prepared for at only fourteen. His father sends him severe, shaming letters if he doesn't magically know how to man up enough at all times, and his mother and grandmother normalize this because "fathers are hard on their sons." So basically he would be up against the more extreme turn-of-the-century concepts of masculinity, which is a great burden for someone who tends to naturally be a gentle-spirited worrywart. Thus, his secret friend on the other side of the bushes, who is accepting and encouraging and exposes him to a construct of family life without constant scolding and silencing, is going to be a welcome escape. Similar to Rachel's story, but with gender roles more at the forefront.

Riquet (Rietta), as a male heir to his father's throne, has a much more stable position with less expectation of his needing constant guidance and hand-holding as a monarch. His impending marriage is less of an issue, because his (great) aunts and uncles have fewer candidates among their children who could marry him. (Rietta is surrounded by male first and second cousins who have been suggested as possible matches for her, and yes, ew, but that was common for royalty, and I can assure you she won't end up with any of them.) However, there is much more concern for his education while living in isolation with his mother. Tietra is viewed as an inadequate guardian for a boy who needs to grow up to be Manly™. Of course, Riquet is still a boisterous little firecracker who runs wild on the castle grounds and tries to attack council members who are rude to his mother, but that's not what Normorot and the rest have in mind. Normorot tries to put his son (yes, Coleinette, who still exists in this AU, has at least one brother) in a position of closeness and trust to the young king, but Riquet isn't having that and wants his good friend Raphael the deeply unsuitable half-Coregean Dissidant instead, and conflict ensues. There's still talk of marrying off Riquet to the King of Corege's young daughter eventually, which changes when he meets Andras's daughter instead, etc. etc. It's not an excessively different set-up, but the flavor would definitely change.

Delclia (Delclis) was more easily discredited from her claim to the throne after her father's death, on the grounds that she is female and therefore potential trouble like Antavia. So she's much less of a threat to Talfrin's power than if she had been male, and she's allowed to stay nearer her mother. She and Bethira have a reasonably good, if not overly close relationship, but she and Talfrin don't connect much at all. She develops a passionate interest in botany and wants to study it at Claverworth, which admits women although they are ineligible for full degrees. Talfrin, however, wants to marry her off to the son of a friend of his, six years her junior. Delclia has no particular interest in marrying Morstyn Hollock, and Bethira really, really doesn't like this idea either. The problem disappears after Talfrin is forced to abdicate and Delclia inherits the throne, to great controversy. She has the disaster of her cousin Antavia constantly looming over her, trapping her in this role that she is unprepared for. The government doesn't take her very seriously, as both a minor and a female. Any toll this takes on her mental health is regarded as hysteria or the like. The question of a suitable marriage for her becomes Extremely Crucial. The basic plot doesn't change much, but her role in the family does.

Elystanna (Elystan) is a huge disappointment. After vehemently discrediting Delclia as heir to the throne, Talfrin expects to have a male heir of his own. But his and Bethira's only surviving child is a sickly girl. She is still expected to inherit the throne (if she makes it), but Talfrin is resentful of her for not being what he wanted. He makes an effort to raise her as he would have a son, but Bethira is able to exercise more influence in Elystanna's upbringing than she would be able to with a son. Consequently, Elystanna grows up closer to her mother than her father, whom she admires but can never quite please. Bethira is aware of how her husband treats their daughter and tries to be extra lenient with her to make up for it, which has a negative effect on Elystanna's character. She's self-centered and entitled but also deeply hurt and rejected, and if given the chance, she'll do just about anything to prove to her father that she is a worthy heir after all. Even treason. Which goes about as well as you would expect, and she gets sent to the girls' school that her mother attended, where further shenanigans ensue. Again, the plot doesn't change a lot, but a female Elystan would have a very different role in the family.

Amaro (Amarantha) is the son of Elystanna's nurse. Since Elystanna has a more stable relationship with her actual mother, she is much less insecurely attached to Edmara, who has a better (but not perfect) balance between work and life now. Amaro does have some buried resentment of Elystanna, but it's not overwhelming. He is about to attend whatever the male equivalent of Queen Edella's is, when his scholarship is revoked and he's temporarily brought to the palace while his mother figures out what to do with him. This puts him in the path of Elystanna. Their interactions are tense but don't get out of hand; Amaro is too preoccupied with the next steps in his art education. And then he and Elystanna end up in a castle with Ayra and Ateva, and he's the only boy and somehow expected to be Responsible, and...well, I think the events in general will play out very differently without the intense jealousy as a factor, which doesn't make for as interesting a story. There needs to be some other tension between Amaro and Elystanna, but I don't know what that would be.

Tametta (Tamett) is the second of five daughters of a Noriberrian family related to a Duke. She leads a completely normal, drama-free life at home with her family, because there is no reason for her to take a position as companion to the King of Lienne's third daughter. Maybe the two of them have an occasional arranged play date whenever Tametta's uncle wants to get in good with the King, but there's no full-time arrangement. Which is fantastic for Tametta, but not a particularly interesting story.

Josepha (pronounced yo-ZAY-fa - Josiah) is the last of a series of disappointments for her father. He had hoped that she would be the male heir that he needed, after two previous daughters. But being Nyella's child was in Josepha's favor, and she initially grew up as the beloved baby of the family, with her eldest sister Ayra filling the role as Heiress Presumptive. But then Mikaiah was born, at the expense of his mother's life, and he became Odren's new favorite on whom he loads all his expectations. Mikaiah is too similar to his flighty, adventurous mother to adequately be the heir his father wants, but Odren is forgiving and Mikaiah can get away with a lot even with all the pressure. (He does have a companion, but I don't know this boy's identity.) Meanwhile, responsible, dutiful Josepha is trying to get her father's attention by being everything that he wants Mikaiah to be. But she's a girl, so she's really only useful as a bargaining chip for marriage. To prepare her for this, she is sent to a girls' school in Corege and ends up rooming with Elystanna. They do not get along. Josepha's not quite as loathsome as she would have been if she had grown up as the Favored Heir, but she's got a major chip on her shoulder and more of a temper than she'll admit. Besides the change for Tamett, which completely negates that plotline, and for Amarantha, which changes motivations, I think this one is the greatest change. So much of who Josiah is is bound up in his position, which he could never have in his society if he were a girl. It changes almost everything about relationships in that entire family. Josepha would be more likely to have a bond with Ayra and Ateva, and she would still resent Mikaiah but for different reasons.

Most major marine operators require that chartered vessels are “classed” by an independent group such as the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), DNV/GL, Lloyd’s Register, or one of the many others. These groups have assembled very detailed standards for classing everything from oil tankers to auxiliary ship equipment like Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). Many of these standards are based on industry practice or covered by regulations such as reserve buoyancy, the number of life rafts, the types of materials that can be used on a hull, etc.

Classing assures ship owners, insurers, and regulators that vessels are designed, constructed and inspected to accepted standards. Classing may be effective at filtering out unsatisfactory designers and builders, but the established standards do little to weed out subpar vessel operators – because classing agencies only focus on validating the physical vessel. They do not ensure that operators adhere to proper operating procedures and decision-making processes – two areas that are much more important for mitigating risks at sea. The vast majority of marine (and aviation) accidents are a result of operator error, not mechanical failure. As a result, simply focusing on classing the vessel does not address the operational risks. Maintaining high-level operational safety requires constant, committed effort and a focused corporate culture – two things that OceanGate takes very seriously and that are not assessed during classification.

Innovation and Classing

When OceanGate was founded the goal was to pursue the highest reasonable level of innovation in the design and operation of manned submersibles. By definition, innovation is outside of an already accepted system. However, this does not mean that OceanGate does meet standards where they apply, but it does mean that innovation often falls outside of the existing industry paradigm.

While classing agencies are willing to pursue the certification of new and innovative designs and ideas, they often have a multi-year approval cycle due to a lack of pre-existing standards, especially, for example, in the case of many of OceanGate’s innovations, such as carbon fiber pressure vessels and a real-time (RTM) hull health monitoring system. Bringing an outside entity up to speed on every innovation before it is put into real-world testing is anathema to rapid innovation. For example, Space X, Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic all rely on experienced inside experts to oversee the daily operations, testing, and validation versus bringing in outsiders who need to first be educated before being qualified to ‘validate’ any innovations.

Depth Validating

As an interim step in the path to classification, we are working with a premier classing agency to validate Titan’s dive test plan. A licensed marine surveyor will witness a successful dive to 4000 meters, inspect the vessel before and after the dive, and provide a Statement of Fact attesting to the completion of the dive test plan.

Innovation and Risk Mitigation

In addition to designing and building an innovative carbon fiber hull, our team has also developed and incorporated many other elements and procedures into our operations to mitigate risks.

OceanGate’s submersibles are the only known vessels to use real-time (RTM) hull health monitoring. With this RTM system, we can determine if the hull is compromised well before situations become life-threatening, and safely return to the surface. This innovative safety system is not currently covered by any classing agency.

No other submersible currently utilizes real-time monitoring to monitor hull health during a dive. We want to know why. Classed subs are only required to undergo depth validation every three years, whereas our RTM system validates the integrity of the hull on each and every dive.

Our risk assessment team looks at the entire expedition and completes a detailed, quantified risk assessment for each dive. The risk assessment takes into account 25 specific factors that can influence a dive outcome. Using that information, a dive plan is written to mitigate against these known risks. Round 3 - Summer 1 (Part 2) - The Neetor Family

ROS for the Neetors states that one of them must study logic and enter a gaming competition. There's nowhere to do that in Wildflats Peninsula as TS2 required more of a LAN party setup for gaming competitions. No one owns a computer yet, as far as I'm aware, so that one won't be happening. But ROS also wants a fire to break out... I am SO glad that Pietro studied Fire Safety because he's now going to be on call when that happens...

Bethany started her round feeling very excited. It had always been her lifetime want to become a top educator and, now that there were children in the town, she was hoping Jennifer would let her become their teacher. She picked up the phone.

"Hi Jennifer! I'm calling to ask if you'll let me become the teacher for Kyle and Ramona's son and Pietro and Lucas' girls. They'll need a teacher now and... wait, what?"

It turned out that Jennifer had already anticipated this situation and had previously employed the miraculous overnight builders to construct a school in Wildflats Peninsula. She had got a grant from SimCity to put towards the education of their youngsters and told Bethany that she could definitely become the town's teacher provided she could stump up the remaining §20,000 to pay the builders.

Bethany quickly and gladly agreed. She had used most of her inheritance lump sum already, but took out a loan and paid the builders for their hard work.

It was not my creation - all the hard work was done by @teaaddictyt and she shows this school off on her YouTube channel here (which is where I fell in love with it). She's Australian but I guess their schools are very similar to British schools because it felt very familiar (I'm a primary teacher and it just felt like every school I've ever stepped foot in)!

I had to make a few changes because (although she does acknowledge it's CC-heavy) I didn't realise it would come packaged with all her merged CC files! I had to work out just how much I could safely delete and replace and still keep the 'essence' of the school the same.

Placing the school (which is another community lot) also unlocks 1 more CAS point, bringing the total up to 5. We may have to add a family next round!

Exterior view - the field and basketball courts will be used for Outdoor PE and occasionally for lunchtime play. We have this thing in the UK where, if it's dry enough and the kids won't get muddy, they're allowed to go and play on the big field (most schools have a field). So at lunchtime there will be times when they'll be out here playing rather than the playground.

Classroom 1 - I'm only planning to have one school, rather than a separate primary and secondary, so this will be the kids' classroom. (I know that’s mad in a BACC because it will get big eventually, but at some point I’ll just start rotating days that children come to school!)

Classroom 2 - this will be the teens' classroom. My BACC rules dictate that we can't have a second playable teacher until Bethany reaches the top of the career, a university has been unlocked and our candidate has a degree. That’s a long way off so for the time being, I will probably rotate days as I mentioned above.

Multi-purpose room. It comes shipped as an art room, but can be set up for music, indoor PE, or whatever the day's timetable dictates!

Entrance/Office - we won't necessarily have someone on reception but it's here for decoration anyway.

WAIT you mentioned that you stanned Willow before ASIAS, when DID you start stanning her?? for me, I've always loved her, but i started stanning her when I saw her lifting weights and bossing Amity around in FATCDP😭

“stanning” lol I’ve just always thought she was neat. Ironically it was during the great willow drought of season 2a that made me really see the potential in her character that had gone mostly overlooked

for starters there’s her dads! Even though they never really get never really proper focus in an episode (despite the blight parents getting several… ugh.) they managed to grab my interest in that single interaction they DID have with willow. I especially find it interesting how Harvey is willing to drop everything for willows education, and when we later learn he was an abominations student at a notoriously competitive school, it adds a whole new layer of context for why he was so adamant that willow stay in that track despite her obvious struggles. He probably started off much the same way as willow, and had to work his way to the top, and genuinely believes that this is what is best for willows future, even if it pains him to watch his daughter cry after once again failing to construct an abomination for homework. I would have LOVED to see an episode in season 1 or even season 2 examining how this affected their bond, think about it: a younger willow who knows that her dads only want what’s best for her, and they support her no matter how badly she’s doing, but she knows deep down that she’s not like her papa, abominations aren’t for her and they never will be, but she ALSO knows how important perseverance is to him. This is what I really want to write about at some point so I guess I should save all this for then LOL

S2a is also when I started shipping huntlow hehehe!!! Bc ohhhhhhh my god the half a witch parallels??? How they both understand what it’s like to be perceived as weak, as someone they’re not???? Ohhhhh man like you just KNOW they would understand each other so much from that shared experience alone. Like on top of all their other shared interests, like hunter having at least a chunk of knowledge about plant properties and willow working out much like hunter probably does regularly in the EC it would make so much sense if they became close friends and potentially something more than that. ASIAS IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT‼️‼️‼️ idk if I would call it my fav episode anymore since it has some issues but ough it’s definitely my biggest comfort episode aka the one I rewatch the most. Willow finally gets to show off her phenomenal leadership skills as flyer derby captain!!! Now that she’s dropped abominations, flyer derby feels very much like a new way to connect with her dads and it’s so sweet :’) ohhhhhhh and her team??? The entrails??? Beloveds???? I would die for them. And the episode reminds us that willow still has those insecurities despite everything, she’s still healing from the bullying, being “half a witch”, like her flyer derby opponent is her former teacher holyyyy shit. And while I do think they could have cut a little of hunters role in the episode since willow definitely needs the screentime more, I love how well his presence complements her. To him, willow isn’t any of the things she sees herself as in her lowest moments, she’s the captain. She’s fearless and brave and ready to throw hands with a coven head to protect her team. He sees her the way she wants to be seen and it’s so lovely

AND WILLOW BEING SILLY IN TTT IS SO IMPORTANT so many people forget that she’s not the overprotective mum friend or whatever the fuck she’s 15 and she loves poking strangers in the butt with plastic pitchforks and saying “mwahaha!!” and doing fingerguns at the nerd who is so so clearly in love with her!! She can be a strong responsible leader and still be a goofball some of u are just cowards ok. And she loves photography??? The contrast between inner willow burning away her memories of amity because “out of sight, out of mind” to present willow treasuring her time together with her family and friends, capturing the memories in a scrapbook while they all try to get home??? This makes sense. As an ultra high net worth wealth manager, it's important to have a clear understanding of the circulatory money activity of goods and services.

This is one of the things that makes me such a great ultra high net worth wealth manager and advisor. As a person from a family of entrepreneurs I took a keen interest in how business is run from a very, very early age. I was super excited when I saw Kisara on Transcend Game. I know that Blue Eyes is actually Kisara—at least, that was how Takahashi Sensei made it I guess—but I kinda want to see a plot where Kisara just left some piece of her memory and past consciousness on Blue Eyes and did reincarnate herself into the modern world. Duel Links was my hope since we even had three Juudais there.

To be honest, I was kind of annoyed with Seto when he did not realize why Blue Eyes dissolved on Duel Links and just think about Atemu. No, do not talk about other ship. I am just mad about Seto's obsession, not the ship—and you might be expecting this, but I do not even ship them.

I understand why Seto was so obsessed with Atemu. He got it from Gozaburo—no, I am serious, Gozaburo's method of educating Seto made him like that. Seto must win, and winning against the guy who defeated someone who won against him is definitely not enough—surprisingly, I understand that well. But Seto's thirst for victory was just too extreme. Short Selling & Steroids

I think I'm back to my sedated self, thankfully. Let's see.

Why do you short sell yourself a lot? I get asked this question too many times in all aspects of my life --work, personal, and even landi. So, here we go. Must be because of this buttery 70s PL which is my go-to sedative apart from liters (if not gallons) of sangria. My universe is never and will never be bound by validation. I live for invalidation. This dates back to mother dragon's ways but as I revisit this archaic bit, I'm coming clean like Taylor Swift.

In every test paper I bring home, she would look at my mistakes and tell me that I'm too careless because she knew that I knew the answer. Always. Later, when I commit and omit actions, she'd always tag me as a "matalinong gago" with so much graphic words sans the curses. That's how great she was with weaponizing words, tone, style and the works. She rarely hits me, but when she does, it's one for the books. Hence, I come off as someone with too idealistic standards and intimidating. I was born and raised this way, I guess.

When I became the captain of mother dragon's sinking ship in her quest to her final destination, I was left with this burden that while I know I know how to power through with grit, with intention and with my maldita na "matalinong gago" ways, I will be going home defeated. That's when I embraced the world of utter invalidation. That I am never enough just because I can't cheat death, ever. Labo, I know, but, I was 17 when this era started. I was clinging onto to the dearest life form in my universe... my mom.

I guess, that's also where my anhedonia is truly, madly, deeply rooted. I've been so used to losing that winning is but a consolation prize. I had to stop and breathe deeper breaths before keying the previous line. It's true blue blood right there. I don't like validation because all my efforts and results are but pale in comparison to what my harsh reality is... mom's death. I know that this is purely irrational, but in love, emotions overrides any "matalinong kagaguhan" anytime.

Compliments in any shape or form do not mean anything to me. Mom left me even when I fucking gave all that I can and all that I'm not in our battle. She gave up on us. She gave up on me. There are countless time when mom told me to step on the breaks since masyado kong sineseryoso 'yung routines, doc visits and after-care niya. Wala pang palliative care noon lalo sa Pinas at sa public hospitals. Ilang beses niya sinabi sa akin, anak, na-train nga kita kaso sumobra naman yata. I remember so many times na deep inside I was crying, but I told her na, sabi niya, the true test of a good teacher is when the student beats the shit out of the educator. However, I'm here and now. A few days back, I keep hearing steroids as meds. UGH. I discovered that it's my trigger. Mom had to take steroids to pump up her system. And yes, the side effects eventually kicked in and that is where things get fucked up. While steroids definitely helped prolong her life, iba e. Her totality was altered. HUY. Naiiyak na naman ako. Hindi tayo mag-spiral this Scorpio szn. Maraming labada at iwas-sunog ganaps.

Steroids are reminders that while I get triggers, I can hopefully turn this shit into a glimmer. UGH. I have to face the fact that steroids helped mom get by. And that, these designer and well-marketed drugs allowed her to power through even when was running on 5 to 10 kph; instead of her usual 160-180 kph. And that, I have to face my red flag. Hindi naman madali, pero hindi imposible. AYWAW. May character arc development na ba talaga this dalisay kuno girly? Abangan.

And you know what steroids brought me and mom? Because she was gaining weight and looking plumper in a good way, when she was in her casket, she looked undeniably good. FUCK HER TALAGA. Alam mo 'yung look na I FOUGHT TOO MANY GOOD FIGHTS. KBYE na look. She looked too peaceful, too unbothered, too accomplished. HUY. 'Wag nating pabagsakin ang luha na mala somatic yoga session.
