Hey y’all wanted to share some news I got in an email about immigrants and immigration in America

Last week the American government passed a “bipartisan short-term spending bill — that contained NO new funding for ICE or CBP!”

For people concerned about immigrants and brown people in America this is very good news!

“But this fight isn’t over. Supplemental funding plans are in the works, and immigration policy and billions in funding for ICE and CBP are still being negotiated by the House and Senate.”

Despite this temporary hold on funds the government is still trying to find more ways to funnel money into harming immigrants, Dreamers, and anyone they deem a “threat” to America for coming to this country. It’s xenophobic and racist and disgusting and nationalistic and it needs to stop.

“The government should be investing in real immigration solutions, not the militarization of our border or the stripping away of human rights. That’s why UWDA is focusing our efforts on demanding Congress DEFUND these hateful and dangerous organizations in the supplemental funding package.”

I don’t know who in Texas needs to hear this, but

- There is no such thing as “fentanol”

- There is a prescription drug called fentanyl, but like meth, it’s mostly a domestic issue

- Kids are getting it by stealing it from their parents or buying from neighborhood dealers who obtained it fraudulently, not from phantom border smugglers

- The biggest drug product coming over the border is, has been, and will likely always be cocaine, given the quantities in which it can be produced in South America

- You can google how much of that is seized a year, and see that it is actually quite an impressive quantity (which is why I”m guessing the Abbott campaign came up with the fictional “deadly fentanol”)

- The federal government has 3 separate agencies working the border: CBP, Homeland Security, and ICE. 2 of these 3 are superfluous but we have them anyway. The federal government isn’t just “doing its job,” it’s doing its job x3

- The State of Texas also has 3 separate agencies working the border, Parks and Wildlife, State Troopers, and the Texas Rangers, all of which have the same authority under the law

- The continuing flow of cocaine across the border from South America is largely down to the invention and proliferation of the “narco sub,” which is what it sounds like

- Operation Lone Star is widely regarded as a joke, a waste of time, money and effort, pretty much by everyone who isn’t either Greg Abbott or hearing about it for the first time from his campaign

- Human trafficking can only be effectively combated by people who regard those being trafficked as human. That means not Greg Abbott or much any conservative for that matter

- “Defund the police” does not mean “disband the police” 

- It means take money out of the tank and chemical weapon budget and put it into services the police are no longer trained to provide but dispatched to handle anyway, like crisis management and emergency interim health care

- Were police still properly trained in these things, they would be able to keep that money... but they’re not, so they shouldn’t

- I think we can all agree that you shouldn’t get paid for a service you don’t provide--I mean I’m not out here drawing a salary as a brain surgeon, and statistically speaking, neither are you

- “Defunding cities that defund the police” is idiotic and shows a fundamental lack of understanding of how city budgets are devised, also it hasn’t actually been done, just talked about

- Any talk of budgeting control from someone who not only let the power grid collapse but refused to fix it after the fact is not only ridiculous, it’s offensive

Funny story about the shithole that is Oregon. There was this fat disgusting fucking pig who worked for Taylor Morrison and polygon homes. The kind of fucking pig who makes you want to bleach your entire family. I'd see him everywhere parked at the pool working so hard (no pun intended) behind my backyard. Yesterday Congress gave all of us the middle finger. Some of you will understand but some won't until you lose your freedoms and quality of life.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has long been considered one of the most corrupt federal bodies in the nation, with a government commissioned report in 2015 noting that “arrests for corruption of CBP personnel far exceed, on a per capita basis, such arrests at other federal law enforcement agencies,” ProPublica reported in 2019. The department nevertheless continues to get billions upon billions in funding from Congress every single year.

CBP, true to form, has continued its crime streak. Daily Beast reports that a U.S. Border Patrol agent has admitted to conspiring with human smugglers for profit, allowing them to transport people across the border in exchange for $400 a person. The report said that messages reveal an informant asking the agent, Rodney Tolson, Jr., if he was “ready to make some cash.” Court documents say that the agent responded, “U know it,” the report continued.

“Tolson, Jr. caught the attention of internal DHS investigators back in 2019, when they saw Tolson on surveillance video waving an unidentified smuggler through a border checkpoint,” the report said. The plea agreement said that the agent would instruct smugglers on which lane to cross through, and at what time. “Two unnamed suspects cooperated with DHS to identify Tolson, who received his payments in the parking lot of a nearby Walmart.” Woof.

This isn’t even the most recent criminal incident involving a border agent. “Texas border agent helps smuggler sneak in cocaine—as other agents watched, feds say,” Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported this week. That report said that Border Patrol agent Oberlin Cortez Pena Jr. not only instructed a drug smuggler on how to hide his product in a backpack cooler, he suggested shifts when it would be best to try to cross. “The (agents) are all rookies,” he said about specified times, the report said. For helping smuggle 5 kilos of cocaine, Cortez Pena Jr. hoped to earn $1,000 bucks.

”Every year, approximately 250 CBP employees are arrested, many on suspicion of serious felonies; dozens have been jailed in recent years on corruption charges, including weapons trafficking and collaborating with Mexican drug cartels,” ProPublica reported in 2019.

Meanwhile, as border agents simultaneously commit grave human rights abuses that have included the forcible separation of children from their families at the southern border, Congress has punished the federal immigration department by throwing more and more cash at it year after year. American Immigration Council noted last year that CBP’s spending has tripled since 2003, from $5.9 billion, to $17.7 billion.

The Biden administration’s first full budget request called for no overall reductions for CBP or Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Senators Robert Menendez and Alex Padilla have since led a group of nearly a dozen Senate Democrats including Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders in calling on the chamber’s appropriations committee to decrease ballooned immigration enforcement and detention funds in the next fiscal year. “Congress must be explicit in its provision of funds for the kind of transformative change that is needed to repair and build an immigration system that is centered around community and welcoming, not on tearing families apart, undermining community safety, and destabilizing communities and workplaces through punitive enforcement measures,” they said.

“As the parent agency of the Border Patrol and the country’s largest law enforcement agency, CBP has seen its budget skyrocket, despite operating without accountability or transparency and an alarming record of violence, corruption, and human rights abuses against migrants and U.S. citizens alike,” the Defund Hate campaign said. “In 2020, a government investigation revealed that CBP misspent emergency humanitarian funding explicitly provided for food and medical care for migrants on dirt bikes and enforcement-related expenditures.”

This is what happens when you rapidly upstaff an agency for decades, not because they needed the manpower, but because Republicans gave them more money and demanded they hire more agents to fulfill a political talking point.

At this point there’s no more saving the CBP than there is to saving the average suburban police department. The bad apples have corrupted the rest of the barrel, you have to toss them all out.

It appears everything in Washington is crooked and on the take.

All across the country, Immigrants, Jews, and Accomplices are fighting back against the violence targeting migrant communities.  For those of us who are Jews, this machine of detention and deportation fills us with the echoes of our history, and we know it is our responsibility to follow the lead of immigrant justice organizers in showing up for this struggle. On November 16th, join us in helping disrupt the spread of xenophobic violence against migrant children! That evening, Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health will be hosting its biggest fundraising event of the year--the Hope Gala. Meanwhile, the agency just received a $14 million contract from the federal government to detain migrant children across the country, including in Devon, PA. In Devon alone, Devereux will house 42 migrant children who crossed the border without an adult. The theme for this year’s gala is “Fostering Independence.” This language is not only darkly ironic but also dangerous: it normalizes Deveraux’s compliance with family separation and incarceration. On November 16th, we will be gathering Downtown Philadelphia (exact location forthcoming) to demand that Devereux cancel its plans to open up even more detention centers. Their zoning permit has already been denied. We demand that Devereux halt all appeals for this new detention center. We will further demand an end to corporations profiting off of immigrant detention, the complete defunding of ICE and CBP as overall agencies, and permanent protection for all undocumented immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. Apparently, additional security was deemed necessary for a President-Elect who received allegedly 80 million votes, more than any other person in the history of our country. All of the “peaceful riots” throughout the summer and Fall, where stores and businesses were looted and destroyed, monuments toppled and police and citizens were killed, did not require the assistance of armed troops to quell these “activities”. I also will not comment on the 17 Executive Actions signed by our new President on his first afternoon in office. None of these offer any hope or unity nor are they of any benefit to the American people or to America. Indeed, they will drive us further downward. These will be replaced with classes on “white priviledge”, “how American racism stole lands from native Indians” and the “need for racial equity” because America is a terrible nation. ·     The Supreme Court will be packed with liberal judges. ·     Your 2nd Amendment will be attacked and there may be a gun confiscation or gun buyback programs enacted and you will find it difficult to own a weapon…and ammunition of any kind. ·     If you have a manufacturing job or oil industry job, get ready to be unemployed. ·     If you own and run a business, brace for the impact of higher taxes and more governmental regulations. ·     Maybe you’ll be on the hook for slavery reparations, or have your suburbs turned into Section 8 housing. ·     Your taxes are going to increase dramatically and businesses will pay more. ·     We will be paying more for gasoline at the pump and we will soon find ourselves once again dependent on foreign oil.

President Trump made us energy independent. For the first time in our history, the USA became an oil-exporting nation. Biden’s illogical and corrupt dismantling of the Keystone Pipeline not only displaced 42,000 high-paying union jobs but now Canada will sell the oil in Alberta BC to China while we search for new supplies at higher prices. In a couple of years, we will see the onslaught of inflation, high unemployment, less productivity as more and more people become dependent on the government for subsistence, all of which is the natural course of socialist economies The dollar will no longer be the world’s reserve currency and America will no longer be the bastion of freedom it once was. America will be overtaken by China as the largest economy in the world and, because we have become so complacent, we will find ourselves in the middle of great turmoil and upheaval with lots of civil strife that will make 2020 look like a walk in the park. I could go on and on. There is no real recovery from this. The national elections from here on will be decided by New York City, Chicago, and California. The Constitutional Republic we created will be dead. Mob rule and appeasement will run rampant. The candidate who offers the most from the Treasury will get the most votes. ICE is attempting to purge international students from colleges.

This is a show of force by ICE and an attempt to defund public colleges, limit contact between US and international students, and limit international surveillance. The ensuing legal and media battle is going to be fodder for right-wing xenophobia, as universities oppose the bill and fascists republicans push their followers to obey the whims of CBP/ICE.
