Now I've finally caught up on all the content from the Italian non-replica productions, and I have so many thoughts. Now let's play the very unfair but also kinda fun game of "reviewing a production solely based on photos"! I'll put it behind the cut to not kill your feed...
Is it really a non-replica production if the Eiffel Tower is not included in some way?
Tumblr media
This set design is rather clever. Making the false boxes at the side a part of a rotating set, complete with a "frescoed" ceiling, makes it a lot easier to remove the auditorium look. And also a brilliant anchor for the chandelier instead of relying on the theatre's own ceiling. I guess the only issue is that the scenes where the boxes are partly turned (like the Mirror scene) seems somewhat cramped, but all in all: an original take on the "false boxes dilemma", and more spacious looking than the Restaged Tour's drum set. Other than that... a rather beige Hannibal?
Tumblr media
The Elissa costumes... It's like the Estonian Elissa costume had a love child with the Sydney Harbour dance costumes...! But I don't say that in a negative way. I think the Italian Elissa costumes looks regal and rich and fun.
Tumblr media
Earl Carpenter also admires that costume:
Tumblr media
Is it really a non-replica production if Christine does not feature a red rose in some way? Also, an example of how the stage feels a bit cramped with the false boxes-set rotated. On the other hand, I guess this brings the audience closer to the action. I like what I see overall.
Tumblr media
Not gonna lie, I thought this was from the Restaged Tour first time I saw the photo. Both look almost identical to the original staging and costumes, just mildly tweaked:
Tumblr media
I have not seen any good photos of the set design of the Phantom's lair. But the glimpses I've seen gives me vibes of the Restaged Tour and the Polish production. Mostly because of the curved gondola and the candle-lit realistic organ:
Tumblr media
The Restaged Tour vibes are STRONG here, with the cast singing the final part of Prima Donna in front of a Garnier-esque curtain. If Carlotta had worn her Il Muto costume it would be downright identical.
Tumblr media
But hey! Bonus point for not including the Eiffel Tower in the Rooftop set. The set designer clearly knew what she was doing by including it in the Auction scene (set later) and not in the Rooftop scene. The Notre Dame, on the other hand, would "always" had been there. Bonus point for a hint of Garnier sculptures and roof structure.
Tumblr media
...whatever can it mean that the Phantom swings across the stage in a red cape, Tarzan style?
Tumblr media
Whaddayaknow, a foreshadoing for dead Buquet, swinging across the stage in the same manner just some seconds later. Frankly? This is one of the ideas I suspect maybe looked better on paper than in real life. Camp flies higher than the Phantom, at least...
Tumblr media
Eeeer. Forget what I wrote. The Phantom flies higher than camp after all, riding that chandelier to the ground in an olympic level of explosions and flashing light. I want to dig it, but my brain refuses to.
Tumblr media
Is it really a non-replica production if there aren't some sort of confetti? Nice turned perspective on the Garnier auditorium and chandelier. Very, very similar to the chandelier crash in Hungary. Looks pretty. Also liking Christine's quite serious bustle dress, even if it doesn't quite scream Masquerade. But I believe they all cloak up for the main scene?
Tumblr media
The graveyard, complete with graves, a glum sky, a cloaked Christine carrying a red rose (what else?), and... the Phantom flying away on his black wings... This production is a lot, but boring isn't part of that...!
Tumblr media
Don Juan AKA Mad Hatter. First time I saw part of Christine's costume I thought they had replicated the Marguerite dress from the Lon Chaney movie and it made me so happy. But then I saw the corset. Ah, no. Close, but no cigar. But I dig Amelia Milo's wig. It's hard to make out the colour, quite dark ash blonde or super light brown. It looks very good on her.
Tumblr media
Beautiful set, though! The painted "fresco" ceiling above the chandelier is such a neat touch.
Tumblr media
OK, Ramin... throat grabbing Christine was not OK in the Royal Albert Hall, and it's still not OK. No. Just no.
Tumblr media
...and here you lost me completely... Is this The Phantom of the Opera or The Met: Notes on Camp? I can't tell.
Tumblr media
But not to end this absolutely nonsense non-review on a negative note, I will comment on the main background set seen in the Phantom's lair and Don Juan. CLEVER. Because... At first glance it reminds of Maria Bjørnson's set design for Don Juan. She appears to have been inspired by the Italian artist Piranesi (1720-1778), and especially his fantasy architecture of nightmareish labyrinths. A series is called "Imaginary Prisons". It looks like the Italian production also picks up a clue or five from Piranesi. And frankly, "Imaginary Prisons"... the most fitting home for the Phantom, no?

how i thought some of the camp here n there characters would look
rowan: a black-hooded cape. also thought he would be black with dreads
yvone: a scene kid that has black hair with pink and green raccoon tails (either like #1 or #7 in https://pin.it/7lC8C8s ). plus a little necklace with a perler version of the camp logo, along with some kandi almost halfway up to her elbows. also pink zebra print leg warmers, a white shirt with the camp logo on it, thigh high converse, and black shorts thought she would also be black too
soren: thought he would also wear a cape (do you see the trend) and long black hair. also thought he would be tan
the gravedigress: REALLY messy black or brown hair (upper chest length) and also contains some dirt and leaves. also torn up clothes with skull gloves
joshua: ginger hair (basically shoulder length hair with curtain bangs) and a sleeveless shirt with the camp logo on it, and either navy blue or black shorts.
elijah: seriously messy blonde hair, and basically all of the canon stuff he wears
jedidiah: short brown hair (NO IDEA WHAT TEH HAIRCUT IS CALLED) with glasses, and a white short sleeved button-up shirt, with jeans. also kinda tan skin.
sydney: mostly like his canon design, but with more mushrooms and stuff in his hair. also a shirt like i thought jeddie would have but with a lanyard too. prob light skin
will reblog later and add more

Ok fuck it. I’m reviewing 2022 Met Gala outfits because the Met is actually my fav even though this year was such a disappointment. This also took me forever to do so even if you don’t give a shit please like it just to indulge me lol.
I’ll do my top looks and bottom but let’s just get out of the way now that SO MANY PEOPLE MISUNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT. Guilded Age is late 1800s NOT the 1920s! Please tell me why half these bitches showed up in flapper dresses. I’ll also have to do more than one part because there’s an image limit on this hell site.
Anyway Part 1
TOPS
Tumblr media
Cara Delevingne fucking flawless as always. She quite literally nails it every single time.
Tumblr media
Sydney Sweeney. The dress itself is meh. But on her it’s perfect. Angelic. Understated. Her face does the talking. Beautiful.
Tumblr media
Lizzo- I couldn’t find a photo that did it as much justice as her Instagram story did but she 100% nailed the theme and this dress was just so perfectly structured and flattering to her body. It’s awesome to see designers be more creative with bigger bodies because you often see them in the same stupid shapeless smocks at these things.
Tumblr media
Karlie Kloss - Ok the theme is wrong. This is flapper not guilded. But it’s also an absolute LEWK. Gives me widow who’s slipping into her sexy night gown with a glass of red wine after pretending to grieve her late husband.
FLOPS
Tumblr media
SORRY! Controversial. I think it’s cool she was even able to get Marilyn’s dress but it doesn’t suit her body type at all. She doesn’t have the petite stature and dramatic curves as Marilyn so the dress just kind of hangs on her. On Marilyn it was a show stopper. On Kim it’s…just a dress.
Tumblr media
Nicki Minaj - I just need to talk to whatever stylist was putting ball caps on women at the fucking Met Gala. Also what’s with the body paint? The corset and train is so stunning and then they paired it with leather pants and a ball cap. Unforgivable.
Tumblr media
Ciara really just said “fuck a theme” didn’t she? Not only did I fall asleep looking at this but there is nothing guilded about it.
Tumblr media
Katy Perry - what the fuck is going on here. Designers really will just wrap chiffon and curtain material haphazardly around a celebrity and call it art huh?
Tumblr media
Lily Allen - I’m only including her because she got to fuck Liam in an airplane washroom and has the AUDACITY to show up to the Met Gala in this bullshit.
Tumblr media
Kyle Jenner - …..I gotta go. I’m speechless at how bad this is. I see we’ve gone with a BACKWARDS baseball cap but don’t worry it’s glam because it’s paired with the cheapest looking mesh veil we could conjure. It’s giving chola prom and I hate it.

Tips For Choosing and Maintaining Curtains and Blinds
Are you looking for the best window treatments? If so, read on to learn about the many options available to you in Sydney. This article also discusses cost and maintenance. You can then decide on which window treatment best suits your room or home. You may also want to consider the following tips when shopping for window coverings:
Choosing the Right Window Treatment For Your Home
To choose the curtains blinds Sydney, you should have a general idea of the look and feel you are trying to achieve. For example, a home with a traditional look will feature beautiful antiques and patterns with rich textures. You'll want to select white or black blinds and shutters to complement the traditional style. You'll also want to consider adding a mood board to help you make the right decisions.
Options Available in Sydney
There are several options available for curtains and blinds in Sydney, and deciding which ones will suit your home best can be a daunting task. There are many types of window treatments, including shutters, outdoor blinds, and fabric curtains that hang vertically from a rod. Choosing the right window treatments for your home is a personal choice, and a trusted vendor can suggest the perfect options. Choosing the right type of window covering for your home is essential, and it is important to consider the purpose of the window treatment - aesthetics, greater functionality, and your design taste.
Maintenance
There are several important tips to consider when maintaining your curtains and blinds Sydney. Cleaning and maintaining these types of windows coverings requires regular vacuuming. You should use a dust brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner when cleaning your drapes and blinds. The type of dust that your draperies absorb will depend on the conditions of your home and its environment. You may need to clean your drapes more often than others in certain areas, such as if you spend a lot of time outdoors.
Cost
The cost of curtains and blinds Sydney varies. Prices may vary by size and manufacturer. Some fabric designs may cost up to $130 per metre, depending on the fabric used. When purchasing curtains and blinds, you should determine what pattern, pleat, and size you want. Getting multiple quotes will help you determine the best price. In some cases, you can get them for free. But remember to compare prices carefully before making a decision.
Colours
When choosing the right colours for your curtains and blinds, make sure you choose a colour that complements the rest of your decor. There are literally hundreds of shades of colour available. For bedrooms, opt for lighter, gentler shades as the dominant colours will keep you awake. For an increase in warmth, opt for dusty pink or pastel green. And for a sophisticated yet comfortable look, consider choosing a sheer.
Prints
While printed curtains and blinds have been around for years, they haven't quite gained traction in the Australian market, unlike other countries. Cameron West and Richard Macalister, co-founders of Blinds in Print, are out to change this. They hope to transform roller blinds from a functional fitting into a feature. As every industry undergoes a digital transformation, Blinds in Print is following suit.
Durability
The lifespan of good quality made to measure blinds is over a decade. This is a much longer lifespan than that of readymade blinds, which usually last about half as long. If you select the wrong blind, it is highly likely it will stop working long before the warranty has expired. This means it is essential to check the warranty period before investing in new blinds. Then you can buy another blind and replace it when it fails.
Sheer Curtains provides quality home improvement solutions for your indoor living areas. We provide exceptional customer service and unbeatable prices on all our products. Call now, and let us help you transform your home or business into a stylish living area.

The UK just hit 40℃ for the first time. It’s a stark reminder of the deadly heat awaiting Australia
Tumblr media
- By Andrew King , The University of Melbourne , The Conversation -
A severe heatwave in Western Europe is shattering temperature records – including in the United Kingdom, where temperatures exceeded 40℃ on Tuesday for the first time on record.
The village of Coningsby in eastern England reached 40.3℃ – provisionally the hottest temperature in UK history. The record was previously held by Cambridge, which reached 38.7℃ in 2019.
I’m a scientist interested in climate change and extreme weather. I grew up in the UK and remember major heatwaves in 2003 and 2006 during my school holidays.
Traditionally, temperatures above 30℃ in the UK are considered hot. But to see temperatures already exceeding 40℃ is shocking.
Summer heat may be far from people’s minds here in Australia. But Europe’s ordeal is yet another sign that changes in Earth’s climate have already reached dangerous levels. If the UK can reach 40℃, Australia must brace for even deadlier temperatures.
A nation ill-prepared
Europe’s heatwave spread across Spain, Portugal and southern and western France, before a strong southerly wind fanned continental air across the English Channel. Background warming due to climate change boosts the odds of such severe heat.
In 2020, a UK Met Office study found under the current climate, there was likely a less than 1% chance of seeing 40℃ anywhere in the UK in a given year. Without human-caused climate change it would be virtually impossible.
The UK is simply not used to heat on this scale. In fact, buildings there are generally designed to retain heat rather than cool down. A report last year found fewer than 5% of homes were air-conditioned.
Urban green space in the UK – which can help cool cities – has also declined in recent years.
The Met Office on Friday issued the first ever “red warning” heat alert, which said “illness and death may occur among the fit and healthy, and not just in high-risk groups”. It advised people to:
Close curtains on rooms that face the sun to keep indoor spaces cooler and remember it may be cooler outdoors than indoors. Drink plenty of fluids and avoid excess alcohol, dress appropriately for the weather and slow down when it is hot. Be on the lookout for signs of heat related illness. Cool your skin with water, slow down and drink water.
The death toll from the current heatwave is not yet known, but experts say it could be in the thousands across Europe.
But not all Britons see the extreme heat as a potentially lethal event. One Conservative MP went so far as to accuse those taking precautions against the heat of being “cowards” and “snowflakes”.
And media reports have routinely featured images of people sunbathing on beaches and eating ice cream in parks. Research shows this may create a false impression that spending time in the sun during heatwaves is safe.
Lessons for Australia
Australia has, of course, experienced many days with temperatures of 40℃ or more. But we struggle when it persists for several days.
Research shows the impacts of climate change are accelerating rapidly across ecosystems, food production, cities and towns, and health and well-being.
Heatwaves kill more Australians than any other extreme weather event. Hospitals are strained as admissions rise. Public transport can be disrupted, energy supplies come under pressure, and the bushfire risk increases.
Experts say extreme heat also poses a substantial threat to Australia’s economy.
In January this year, temperatures in the Western Australian town of Onslow peaked at 50.7℃ – equalling the Australian record.
Globally, the number of days over 50℃ has doubled since the 1980s. Such temperatures are still rare in Australia. But as climate change worsens, more extremely hot days will occur across the continent.
Australia has warmed by around 1.4℃ since 1910, well ahead of the global average of 1.1℃. Even if warming is kept below 2℃, Sydney and Melbourne are expected to see 50℃ days in coming years.
In the summer of 2019-20 the Western Sydney suburb of Penrith came close, reaching 48.9℃.
No time to waste
Greenhouse gas emissions have warmed the world, including Western Europe. This raises the likelihood of more extreme high temperatures, including records broken by wide margins.
The UK heatwave is just the latest reminder of what’s in store for Australia and the world as the climate changes. Last year, a severe heatwave in western North America led to temperatures approaching 50℃ in Canada and broke records in parts of the Pacific Northwest.
Clearly, nations everywhere must consider measures to better handle future heatwaves. This is especially important in Australia, the driest inhabited continent on Earth. Here, drought and severe fire conditions can exacerbate the harms caused by extreme heat.
The UK government is under fire for ignoring previous expert calls to create a national heat risk strategy. Australia must also do a better job on heatwave planning.
Finally, rapid emissions reduction is needed to limit further global warming. Until we reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions globally, the planet will continue to warm. We have the time and tools to avert an even worse planetary catastrophe, but we must act now.

Budget-Friendly Elegance: Exploring The Affordability Of Shutters In Kellyville
Tumblr media
Kellyville, a thriving suburb in the northwest of Sydney, is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, vibrant community, and diverse housing options. For homeowners in Kellyville looking to enhance the style and functionality of their homes without breaking the bank, shutters offer an attractive and affordable window covering solution. this blog will delve into the affordability of shutters in Kellyville, exploring the various factors that contribute to their cost-effectiveness and why they're a smart investment for homeowners on a budget:
Variety of Materials
Shutters are available in a variety of materials, each with its price point to suit different budgets and preferences. In Kellyville, homeowners can choose from options such as:
Vinyl Shutters: Vinyl shutters are a cost-effective choice for homeowners in Kellyville seeking durable and low-maintenance window coverings. They offer the look of wood without the hefty price tag and are resistant to moisture, fading, and warping, making them ideal for humid environments like bathrooms and kitchens.
Composite Shutters: Composite shutters are made from a combination of wood pulp and synthetic materials, offering the beauty of wood with enhanced durability and affordability. They are resistant to moisture and temperature fluctuations, making them suitable for high-humidity areas like bathrooms and laundry rooms.
PVC Shutters: PVC shutters are made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional wood shutters. They are lightweight, durable, and easy to clean, making them a popular choice for homeowners in Kellyville seeking affordable yet stylish window coverings.
Long-Term Savings
While the initial cost of shutters may seem higher compared to other window-covering options, they offer long-term savings and value for homeowners in Kellyville. Shutters are durable and built to last, requiring minimal maintenance and replacement over time. Unlike curtains or blinds that may need to be replaced periodically due to wear and tear, shutters can withstand the test of time, saving homeowners money in the long run.
Energy Efficiency
Another factor that contributes to the affordability of shutters in Kellyville is their energy-efficient properties. Shutters provide insulation by creating a barrier between the window and the interior of the home, helping to regulate indoor temperatures and reduce heating and cooling costs. By insulating windows and minimising heat transfer, shutters can help homeowners save money on their energy bills year-round, making them a cost-effective investment in the long term.
Customisation Options
Shutters offer a range of customisation options to suit different architectural styles, window sizes, and design preferences, allowing homeowners in Kellyville to create a personalised look without breaking the bank. From louvre size and tilt mechanism to color, finish, and frame style, shutters can be customised to complement any home decor and enhance its aesthetic appeal.
Increased Property Value
Investing in shutters can increase the value of your property in Kellyville, making them a smart and affordable home improvement project. Shutters are considered a desirable feature by homebuyers due to their durability, energy efficiency, and timeless appeal. By installing shutters, you can enhance the curb appeal and marketability of your home, potentially fetching a higher resale price in the future.
Conclusion
Shutters offer an affordable and stylish window covering solution for homeowners in Kellyville, providing durability, energy efficiency, customisation options, and increased property value. Whether you opt for vinyl, composite, or PVC shutters, investing in quality window coverings can enhance the aesthetic appeal, functionality, and comfort of your home without breaking the bank. With their long-term savings, energy efficiency, and timeless appeal, shutters are a cost-effective investment that adds value and elegance to any home in Kellyville.

Artist Research: Gideon Obarzanek, Previous Director Chunky Move
"Working through diverse medias including new technologies, director Obarzanek talks to Cristiane Bouger about Glow [a work they define as a biotech fiction, in which the movements of the dancer generate a real-time light and graphics response from a motion-tracking soft ware] and the contemporary dance scene in Australia.
Cristiane Bouger: Many of your works seem to unfold existential issues fusing movement and new technologies. How have you developed this interest?
Gideon Obarzanek: I am interested in different ways of seeing or perceiving the body and therefore possibly gaining new insight about ourselves. More often however it results in seeing something already known or familiar in anew way. My work actually splits into two streams, one with new technology and the other with almost no technology, or very old and familiar stage technologies like curtains and revolving stages. In these low-tech productions I often work with a combination of actors and dancers and the results are much more theatrical, often incorporating text and characters."
"From this period I had documented a detailed menu of possibilities between the machine system and a single body. I wanted to see the inherent aesthetic and kinetic qualities of the machine. While most of the relationships resulted in quite spectacular visual outcomes, on their own they were quickly reduced to beautiful gimmicks."
"The main considerations [became] things that actively came out of the body, what the body left behind, and light and image that were outside pressing onto or surrounding the body. The idea was that the body is really not separated from the space around it, that there is a constant exchange and influence going on."
"The paradox about Glow for me is that while it uses very sophisticated interactive technology the work is really not about technology or our relation-ship to it. It is deeply human from beginning to end. The journey of the work can be seen as one of evolving, a sense of coming into one’s own awareness."

Moving to the Sydney Dance Company, he made Sleep No More in 1991 before becoming an independent choreographer. Shisha Lounge Design Trends: Creating a Cosy Atmosphere
In the vibrant city of Sydney, the allure of a cosy shisha lounge attracts locals and tourists alike. These spaces offer more than just a smoking experience; they provide a social hub where friends gather, conversations flow, and relaxation takes centre stage. To make your shisha lounge stand out in Sydney's bustling scene, incorporating the latest design trends can create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for your patrons.
Embracing Warmth with Lighting
Lighting sets the tone for any space, and in a shisha lounge, it plays a crucial role in creating a cosy ambiance. Opt for warm, soft lighting that casts a gentle glow throughout the room. Consider using string lights, lanterns, or soft LED strips strategically placed to highlight different areas without being too harsh. Dimmable lights offer flexibility, allowing you to adjust the brightness as the evening progresses, enhancing the intimate feel of the lounge.
Comfortable Seating Arrangements
Comfort is paramount in a shisha lounge, where guests come to unwind and enjoy leisurely conversations. Invest in plush sofas, low-slung chairs, and cosy bean bags that invite patrons to sink in and relax. Incorporate a mix of seating options to cater to different preferences, from intimate booths for couples to communal tables for larger groups. Soft cushions and throws in rich textures not only add comfort but also elevate the lounge's aesthetic appeal.
Natural Elements for Tranquility
Bringing elements of nature into your shisha lounge can enhance its cosy and inviting atmosphere. Consider installing a small indoor garden with lush greenery or a cascading waterfall feature. Natural materials such as wood, stone, and bamboo for furniture and decor pieces add warmth and a sense of tranquillity to the space. Live plants not only purify the air but also contribute to a relaxing environment, perfect for unwinding with a hookah.
Cosy Nooks and Private Spaces
Create intimate nooks and private alcoves within your shisha lounge for guests seeking a more secluded experience. These cosy spaces can be adorned with sheer curtains, soft drapes, or decorative screens to offer a sense of privacy without feeling closed off. A tucked-away corner with floor cushions, low tables, and ambient lighting can become a favourite spot for couples or small groups looking for a more intimate setting.

Aesthetic Appeal with Cultural Touches
Infuse your shisha lounge with elements that reflect the rich cultural heritage of hookah smoking. Decorative rugs, ornate tapestries, and intricate wall art can add depth and visual interest to the space. Moroccan lanterns, Turkish tiles, or Middle Eastern-inspired patterns can adorn walls or be incorporated into lighting fixtures for an authentic touch. These cultural elements not only add to the lounge's aesthetic appeal but also contribute to a unique and memorable experience for your patrons.
Creating a cosy shisha lounge in Sydney involves a careful balance of design elements that prioritise comfort, ambiance, and aesthetic appeal. By embracing warm lighting, comfortable seating arrangements, natural elements, private spaces, and cultural touches, you can craft a space that invites guests to unwind, socialise, and indulge in the pleasures of hookah smoking. Keep these design trends in mind as you plan and execute the layout of your shisha lounge, and watch as it becomes a sought-after destination in Sydney's vibrant nightlife scene.
Whether patrons are looking for a laid-back evening with friends or a romantic date night, your shisha lounge can offer an escape from the bustling city life into a world of relaxation and enjoyment. Implement these design trends, and soon your lounge will be the go-to spot for those seeking a cosy and inviting atmosphere paired with the finest experiences shisha in Sydney.
