Okay firstly I’m not Australian and before I watched hbh I’ve never heard of eshays (also not British so no clue about roadman either) and even now I only know about them in the fictional sense.

But everything I read about them makes me think that is rather hard to actually become one, especially one being kind of respected. Which Ca$h arguably is. Chook lets him get away with more stuff than others it seems (Ca$h lost the clothes/money and Chook let him just pay him back, which sure isn’t easy but he actually didn’t harm him for that, he punched him in the face bc Ca$h put himself between Chook and the boy). Chook also really seems to have trusted Ca$h and had some deeper bond with him, one that Ca$h reciprocated.

While we don’t know the details, Chook evidently was the person who helped Ca$h. He got him out of his troubled home, got him a family and trust and somewhere to belong. Gave him a name to be respected. And all this apparently before Ca$hs Nan was in the picture. So Ca$h had no one but Chook. So to get to the point Ca$h and Chook have a complex relationship, in which being eshays is just one part but one that definitely makes it even more difficult to get out of it.

And so I don’t understand how Darren, Harper and Amerie expect Ca$h to simply cut the eshays and especially Chook off. Like they seem to understand that they are dangerous but expect Ca$h to just walk away from them without facing consequences? Ca$h isn’t just some runner for Chook who maybe could get away with it, he’s part of Chook's inner circle.

In the end I’m just mad because they don’t think about it, Ca$h is putting his life (and to his horror also his Nan's and his friends life) in danger and the others don’t see it and are just pissed that Ca$h doesn’t do what they want him to.

CA$H PIGGOTT.

I need to talk about Cash Piggott and how important his character is to the asexual community.

I absolutely adore the fact that Cash calls people out on their acephobia and never, ever apologises for who he is. He doesn't think he's broken.

In season one, we see Darren say "you know what, I think there's something really fucking wrong with you, Cash," and Cash immediately, with no hesitation, screams "well fuck you then".

In season two, we see Dusty say that he's being selfish asking Darren to give up sex and he immediately stands up and says "fuck this" because he knows he doesn't have to listen to people making him feel bad about his sexuality.

And when he's talking to his nan about it, Cash says "it's not fair, I would do anything, why does it have to be the one thing I can't change about myself?"

In every single one of these scenes, we never see Heartbreak High blame Cash for his sexuality. We never see him apologise to anyone for not feeling sexual attraction, and we never see him feel guilty about it, or try to change who he is.

CA$H recognises that his sexuality might be difficult for people to accept and understand, but he never lets other people make him feel like he's broken, or flawed. And that's so powerful to see.

Because asexual people are not broken. And we can't be fixed. And we are not being selfish for putting in boundaries.

I absolutely adore Douglas Piggott. He means the world to me, and this representation is so, so important.

I'm sorry but I feel like non-Australians just will not be able to 100% get Ca$h's character, like I don know if you can understand how impactful it is unless you know eshay culture and how harmful it is. Like I know Chooks, they went to my schools, they take my busses, literally every time I go outside I'm scared of them. Literally as I'm typing this there's a group of them on the bus behind me and it's making me anxious. Ca$h trying to tear himself away from his eshay group in order to protect his friend and safely be with his black nonbinary partner and their alt friend group is like. A massive deal I can't imagine the eshay types I've been close with ever doing that for me

Edit: Not to even MENTION having the eshay character be unapologetically queer and asexual like that is CRAZY. Like there's a reason Darren was so surprised if you're queer and an eshay most of the time you do NOT say it and to have it being portrayed so beautifully is. Gods.

ca$h and spider are kind of each other's foils if you think about it...

both ca$h and spider come from households where they're raised by single maternal figures but they're so different in the relationships they have with those figures and how those relationships impact the way they treat the people around them.

ca$h's nan always supports him, even when he gets sent to jail and ultimately believes that he's innocent and a good, kind person who wouldn't hurt a fly, regardless of the trouble he gets in. even the first time we meet her, it's "my grandson's done nothing wrong", even though we know she has no idea if that's true or not, she's willing to lie to the cops and will always give ca$h the benefit of the doubt no matter what.

contrast that with spider's mum, who constantly puts him down and has so much hatred towards him because he wasn't the daughter she wanted and not only genuinely believes that he's a future rapist, but has no qualms about expressing that belief to a teenage girl she's just met casually over lunch.

spider does have moments where he's kind towards the girls, but he also lies about hooking up with quinni (body-shaming her in the process) and uses ableist language towards her when she calls him out on it, he repeatedly bullies amerie, he's transphobic towards darren, he's involved in falsely accusing jojo, a black female teacher, of being a sexual predator to get out of a class he doesn't like, he verbally abuses jojo and gets in her personal space, he victim-blames malakai, not to mention all the t*te-wannabe rhetoric he spouts during his school captain campaign. it's only when people (outside of voss) start to express that they believe in him that he actually starts to realise he's been acting like a dick.

ca$h has so many outside influences and since there's a lot of toxic masculinity in eshay culture as well, he could have very easily fallen down the cumlords pipeline too but he doesn't. his nan is a firm, no-bullshit person but will always stand by him and i think that's reflected in how he treats his friends. i especially liked his dynamic with quinni this season and hope we get to see more.

"Will the following students please come to the gym." A loud voice said over the intercom. I stopped talking to Quinni and Darren and listened.

There were more, but I didn't listen. I rolled my eyes and collected my backpack, heading to the gym. Darren and Quinni were close behind me.

You might think I'm weird. My two best friends are part of the LGBT society. Darren is queer and non-binary. Quinni is lesbian and autistic. But, I loved them more than anyone I had ever loved before.

I am aromantic. I made out with Sasha once, and have done multiple other things.

The door gym slammed behind me, and I looked around. Many of the students called were already sitting down.

"Seriously, Y/N, why do you have to wear such scandalous outfits?" The teacher asked. I looked down at myself.

Today, I was wearing leather shorts that barely covered my ass, and a hot pink cropped tank top that showed quite a bit of cleavage.

"All for the aesthetic, miss." I say sweetly. I walk past Cash, who, was biting his lip and staring at me. I blush.

I've had a crush on Cash since year 7. He was funny, but isolated, and when you got to know him, he opened up to you.

"Hey, Cash." I say, taking a seat beside him. His eyes move away from my chest.

"H-hey!" He says quickly, his face turning a dark shade of red. Darren sits on my other side, and Quinni sits beside him.

"So. The incest map." The teacher said, pulling up a photo. I groaned. Now the whole school knew what I had done and who I had done. I glanced at all the names connected to mine.

"Now it has all of your cooties on it!" I whine playfully.

"Come on. If I kissed you you would like that, wouldn't you?" He teases. I cross my arms.

"Ooh, I hit a sensitive spot, didn't I, bruh?" He asks, poking your shoulder.

"Shut up and go back to drug dealing, you cunt." I say. He shuts up. I smirk.

"Ooh, hit a sensitive spot, didn't I, bruh?" I mock, shaking my head. He laughs.

"You want to come over for a bit?" He asks. I gulp. I've never been to his house before, and I wasn't sure I wanted to.

Fuck. Of course I did.

"Yeah, sure." I say.

"What the fuck is that? Is it alive?" I screech, gesturing towards the goose beside Cash's bed.

"No, he's a full mad lad. He's sick, go pet him." Cash says. I look at him, expecting him to crack up laughing, but his face is dead serious.

"No, thanks." I say, walking in the opposite direction.

He sits down on his couch, and pats the empty spot next to him.

"So. This is a legitimate question, bruh." Cash says, looking at you in the eyes.

"Mhm." I squeak, getting lost (once again) in his chocolate brown eyes.

"Do you love me?" He asks.

"What?" I question.

"Do. You. Love. Me." He asks slowly. I don't respond. I have a vivid image of myself riding him on this couch.

Cash grabs my chin.

"Y/N!" He says abruptly. I snap out of my daydream.

"Y-yeah!" I say.

"So you do love me!" He says, throwing his arms up in triumph.

"What? No, I just-" I start. But I hated lying.

"Yes. Since year 7. I just didn't want to tell you because we're good friends, I didn't want to ruin what we had." I say, fidgeting with my thumbs and looking straight into my lap.

"Oh, bruh. My bunny. Come here." Cash says, pulling me into a hug.

I giggle. "You smell good."

He smiles.

"I like you too. But since year 3." Cash says, turning red again.

"Ha! Really, though?" I say serious. Cash nods. I blush, turning away. My phone buzzed. I pick it up.

MOMMA: come home, sweetheart, you need to babysit your little sister

You: on my way

"Sorry, Cash, I've got some babysitting to do, I guess." I sigh, standing up off of his couch.

"Yeah! No, no problem." He says, leading me to the door. I was half way down his steps when he called me.

"Y/N..." He says. I turn around, and the moment I do, his lips land on mine gently. He pulls away, hesitant to go further, but I wrap my arms around his head and pull him close, smashing my lips onto his again.

He drags me back into the house, guiding me into his room and pushing me onto the bed. He lifts off his shirt and climbs back on top of me, his lips attaching to mine in a passionate kiss.

I pull on his hair, and he groans into my mouth. He grinds his hips into me, and I whimper.

His tongue, finds its way into my mouth, and my hands trail over his abs and chest as our tongues fight for dominance.

The makeout lasted quite a few minutes, until his grandma came in.

"You slut! Come! I made you some bread!" She says. Cash jumps and looks behind him.

"Nan! Get out!" He says.

"Ooh la la! She's a pretty one!" His nan says. She leaves, and Cash faces me again, kissing me gently once more. I laugh.

"She's such a cute old lady." I say, lifting myself off of Cash's bed. He smiles, putting his shirt back on.

"Yeah. But not as cute as you." He says, winking.

God. He's such a dork.
