How well written do you think Naruto is? Do you agree that Kiishi started losing interest during the war arc?

I think that kishimoto is a great writer. there is no denying his world building and character designing, not to mention his masterful application of Japanese folklore interwoven throughout the story's themes. what he set up and was gearing toward was, without a doubt, amazing writing

it feels to me not that kishimoto lost interest, but that his pen was forced by his series' massive publishing company into a direction he had not wanted. @drschwartz19 did an amazing job of explaining to me the criteria of shonen, and how a piece of work can be limited by its genre. at the end of the day, the giant marketing company paying for the work's creation and distribution isn't going to allow one of their greatest manga to descend down anti-government themes- especially not in such an imperialist country like Japan. it sucks, but they are going to look at what their masses want and, moreover, what they want their masses to want.

with the way the story began and how the conflict developed throughout shippuden, it seems incredibly unlikely to me that kishi chose the ending he did of his own volition. many people are involved in the process, and kishi had to do his best with the final themes they limited him with.

of course this is all speculation, but it's the explanation that makes the most sense to me as to why the series ended the way it did, taking such a harsh turn from the direction it had been going

I just finished watching Dan's new video. Are you telling me that I could've had shows about the guys traveling, a game show and a fully scripted series with Dan if YouTube hadn't fucked him over? what're your feelings about fans of your fics printing them into soft/hard covers to read physical copies, are you OK with/into it? (are there any fanarts that were made for your fics or that suit your fics that you would choose for a cover?)

I'm perfectly fine with it as long as it's not being sold for money!! i do have an official cover in mind because there was a point in time where I was going to do this myself, but unfortunately I'm not at my laptop right now to dig it up for you 😩. it was made by my wonderful editor/publicist/best human ever drschwartz19 after I told her what i envisioned. no text, just a really simple but intricate kizuna hikari ball of light in the center of gradient blue and orange. i hope I remember to come back to this when I get home from work because I really love it so much

ohhhhhhhhh for some reason Kurama NEVER crossed my mind as one of the possible points of view in this fic, but now that i think of it, it seems kinda obvious! i really loved this chapter, and i am completely in love with this whole universe you got going. thank you so much for this!!!

I only ever had one person guess it on their own (besides @drschwartz19 of course) before without hints, so don't feel bad!

i did think more people would guess it, but only because it was something that i really wanted to dive into; it makes sense that others wouldn't guess him, because he is only really addressed as a character once in the original. kurama was the character I thought of actually doing this companion fic for; i kept wanting to include him in the original, but it just never came up naturally in the plot. scenes from Naruto/Gaara/kakashi all existed in my head (and we're starting to pile up), but kurama's was the first where I was like...... I have to write this. the people need to know kurama's ridiculousness about sasuke.

WHEN I TELL YOU I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THE COMPANION FIC!!!

Kizuna Hikari has brought so much in my life (it's such a comfort fic and i would be prepared to pay actual real money to have a physical copy of it) so i'm beyond excited to see that universe be explored even more and from other people's perspectives. it feels very authentic with the characterization and has a lot more to offer than "just" the love story, although i do enjoy it immensely.

Naruto baby he's so in love!!! i love how he's like yeah this is a normal amount of love and care and attention to give someone and i know i should have expected Kurama's input but i still didn't and i loved every second of it as well as this whole chapter and i can't wait for the rest of this fic!!

i'm guessing we're getting at least Gaara's and Kakashi's pov, probably Sakura's? Orochimaru's thoughts would be interesting as well... i can barely contain myself with how much i'm waiting for the rest of this fic i'm completely normal about this and Naruto and Sasuke

Naruto is such an "in the moment" character. he's so focused on what's happening right then and there that he rarely contemplates the whys and the hows. all he knows is that he feels the intense need to protect sasuke, and acts solely on that. he doesn't have the sense to reflect on why he has the need. poor kurama is forced to witness it all from the back seat lmaoooo

When/how do you think Naruto came to terms with his sexuality in KH?

I was just kinda talking about this with @drschwartz19 lol

he kinda did and didn't at the same time?? Naruto to me is someone who does not do any kind of self-reflection, at least in the sense of sitting down and thinking through why he feels the way he does. he feels things so intensely that when he realized what his feelings for Sasuke were, he was so enamoured with the thought of kissing and loving him and being loved back that he just like... forgot to worry about the homophobia stuff lol. adhd king

and then after that he just couldn't imagine why him being with Sasuke could be seen as anything less than amazing. but uh. more on that later!!

N: Any fic ideas brewing that you'd care to share?

well currently ive got the companion fic to kizuna hikari which is in its editing stage! I've been spending a lot of time on that. I also have a little thing that @drschwartz19 implanted in me that's focusing on the time right after the war that Sasuke spent being detained, just kind of like insight into what was going through his head at the time, and the specifics of that time and how I think they played out.

other than that, I haven't really thought about much other than an eventual sequel! I've had a few au ideas that have been pestering me lately that will probably need to be written eventually. a specific pirate au keeps harassing my brain bc pirate!Sasuke????????? top tier aesthetic, makes my brain stop working

I think sakura and rock lee would be good for her because her ending up with the opposite of everything she idealised about sasuke, and yet someone who is very kind and brave something she never appreciated about the person she superficially worshipped would be nice. also them being a taijutsu and medical genius would be a cool couple combo.

sasuke is single and lives with kakashi. he gets his own dog. He could end up with naruto or Suigestu but if he has kids with anyone I would want it to be karin (fanon version, not creepy canon karin). uzumaki+uchiha genes = the only sequel child I would be interested in reading about. I also kinda like the idea of him ending up with a totally normal person lol, no ninja shit, just a normal life.

I know people take the piss of Naruhina but I think they're kinda cute. just not fleshed out properly.

I think Neji and Tenten are lowkey cute. He needs someone to balance out his RBF.

i definitely think Sasuke would either be with Naruto or no one at all. ive said it before, but if he had a kid, I'd want it to be an adoption that he stumbled completely backwards into. he would have a lot of anxiety starting one on his own, I think. I don't like him with Karin at all lmaoooo.

I've always thought naruhina in part one was kinda endearing (@drschwartz19 please put down the gun) in the sense that it really felt true to both characters' ages. like, it made them feel like they actually were twelve years old, having shy crushes and being obnoxiously oblivious. but as they got older in Shippuden it was less cute. but I still don't hate them together!

neji and tenten are a valid ship! except that neji is gay. but I can see him as bi!
