So I made a bunch of maps for reworked versions of vanilla starting zones and these will accompany my eventual AO3 post containing more information RE what's been added or changed in order to give the playable races more depth and flavour.

Love the Unshackled so much. Really glad that Neri and a few others showed up in Durotar later on. Would love to see more of them.
I like to think they would set up one of those underwater "dive bars" we saw in BfA, a nice place to gather and celebrate their new safe haven.

The Darkspears have long been the black sheep of trolls. That is, until Queen Talanji allied with the Horde. Our actions in Tal'gurub have greatly influenced our forbearer's tribe, certainly so as our deeds are known through ancestors and common loa. Despite this renewed ... peace is not entirely the right word but so be it--with the Gurubashi, the Darkspears, like the Sand Trolls, and alongside other island and diasporic trolls determine that the time is appropriate to truly build an Island Troll capital to call their own.
Their island, at the foot of Durotar, uses the name "Echo Isles" in Common. However, in Zandali, the true name of the region is "E'ko Isles," referring to the life force, the spiritual power, that each creature possesses. These once-Jungle trolls, now inhabiting lands free of murlocs and sea witch nagas, call in the support of their Zandalari allies and construct a beautiful, modest yet perfectly Darkspear capital on the Isles. They call it: Zul'E'ko
Though some say Zul'Echo--and this is the accepted Common standard spelling--the proper and appropriate term is E'ko, Zul'E'ko and E'komari, that last one as an adjective to describe island trolls
E'komari Trolls (also: Ekomari, Echommari) decided their name in a troll council consisting of Islanders, Zandalari, diasporic trolls, and Horde representatives. It was decided that physical and cultural differences between Jungle and Island/diasporic trolls was significant enough and warranted a new identity forged in this time of peace:
As it had been the Horde--and notably the Horde centred at Orgrimmar--that had most ardently supported the Darkspears, the construction of the word is to use "-mar" (declined as "-mari") in recognition of those enduring bonds.
E'komari Trolls seek to stand amongst the Empires of the greats: Tall alongside the Zandalari, strong amongst the Gurubashi, honourable aside the Farraki and Drakkari, and more than capable afront the Amani. Let the E'komari era unfold as one of the great troll eras!

I have slowly but surely begun transforming the Southfury Watershed into a freshwater swamp forest.
I wanted to turn one of Catacylsm's disasters into an overall net positive for the orcs and for Durotar. Very much a WIP, but I like the idea I've got going so far.

Miles and miles of red dust stretched out from the city that had, twice-over now, been laid siege to in quick succession.
She hated it here.
The red dust choked one's nostrils - caked the throat, dried the eyes. The heat then baked the dust into one's skin, and sweat smeared it along the clothes, forever ruining that which wasn't made for wear in such a harsh climate.
Durotar had only ever been a pleasure when there'd been the ship, and the crew - and even those memories had come to be about as welcome as a red, sweat-smeared streak of dust. She tried to hold the warm ones close... but even those held the specter of the one who'd broken his word. His promise. The words that she had taken up, in his stead.
Once crew, always crew.
The sick irony of it would have made her chuckle, but for the dust in her throat - even with all the changes she'd endured, she was not immune to being parched.
The orcs, themselves... even this many years later, even knowing now, somewhat how their clans work - it was hard to forgive. Orcs had burned the lands of her people... and they'd enslaved dragons sworn to protect life to do so. What could be more perverse than taking life in such a heinous fashion?
And then, in the war against the Lich King, Erythraestrasz had come into her life. They'd known war together - but they'd known a friendship that transcended species, and he had chosen to continue on with her, traveling and seeing the world - experiencing what life had to offer alongside someone who valued and cherished life as much as he did.
And now... being so close with a member of the red flight? Well - who wouldn't be angry at the thought of their friend's family being enslaved and forced to commit war crimes? Elves and dragons both had long memories, and no doubt the Reds would forgive the Orcs before she did.
He was fresh in the woman's mind, however, as she nodded to the Sin'dorei mages who held the portal open, and stepped through - abruptly manifesting into the clean, cool autumnal air of Quel'thalas - the drake had reached out via comms earlier, and sounded... harried? Rushed. Worried, and excited both.
He'd wanted her to return to the estate, he'd said - there was something "exciting" to share, and she couldn't help but worry, frankly - it was rare for him to need to use the comms personally, unless it was an emergency.
Long legs carried her down the ramp, and towards the towering fountain at its base... and the city beyond - there was no point in wasting time on worries soon soothed or confirmed, at any rate.

Here are some lovely gifts that I got from my sister and parents for Christmas. (A little late then planned add to insta, due to the horrific Winter virus that we had.) Volumes 2 & 3 of Exploring Azeroth: Kalimdor and Northrend. The illustrations in both are lovely, but I think that Northrend is winning, bring on Pandaria next!!! Total geekfest, no apologies given! #warcraft #kalimdor #northrend #azeroth #wow #worldofwarcraft #exploringazeroth #azeroth #exploringazerothkalimdor #exploringazerothnorthrend #icecrown #grizzlyhills #durotar #teldrassil #felwood (at Banana Cherry Villas) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cnr4D-BIDeu/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
