Ah, Doomsday Getaway. Probably quite a few people's favorite events, for the combination of music, story, etc, even if the freebie ultimately ended up a wash for quality.

But amid all the things going on, I just found this exchange a little bit funny even if what's being discussed isn't.

Everyone else has largely been crossing their arms and going 'nu-uh' to Carmen's claim and refusing to play the game.

Elisanne, though, quickly decides to start playing for the worst-case scenario that Carmen's words are 100% true, and then starts eyeing to try and set up a mass-murder/suicide scheme with Ranzal to force the game to end up with Euden as 'winner' since, well, it's pretty obvious Euden wouldn't play the game if his life depended on it (literally). As an aside, Elisanne definitely chose her prospective partner-in-crime well, as among the main 5, Ranzal as the more gritty, realistic, 'willing to get dirty for the boss' is probably the most likely to agree to do such a thing.

Ironically, even if they did team up to do this and pulled it off, Euden would then likely be the only one to die or otherwise suffer a horrible fate with the whole 'psyche, would-be winner, d'ya want to bite the bullet to resurrect all your pals' twist thrown in last minute. Funnily enough, though, this is probably like the singular time Euden expresses any hesitation at the notion of sacrificing himself for everyone:

However, I'll throw in a bit of a wrinkle to that initial scene. While that first scene ends with Ranzal's comment and is only implied what Elisanne was proposing it does return for a brief part in the next scene in more explicit terms.

...However (part 2), this scene turns around into this:

...which quickly is simply revealed to be just a nightmare Euden was having.

This is a minor conspiracy theory, but if Euden was dreaming that last part, was maybe the first part ALSO a dream?

Was Euden maybe fearing somewhere deep in his mind, that his friends were secretly starting to plot the murders of everyone besides him given their protectiveness? I might also point to the fact that Dream!Amane being able to guess so accurately what had happened the night before without actually knowing what they were discussing.

It just feels a bit too convenient, especially combined with Dream!Euden immediately being able to start 'taking action' and gaining a presence in the dream right after it seems like it might be too late, the kind of 'helpless nightmares' that a lot of people have. It also seems like the kind of nightmare he would have, as between actual events like Fractured Futures where he's helpless and forced to watch a Zethia die, to his overall character of 'having to save everyone/do everything' tendencies, I'm thinking Euden really doesn't like being caught feeling helpless to fix things.

Admittedly, I don't really have evidence either way, nor is it very important to the broader story. It's entirely possible that the first initial conversation with Ranzal actually happened, Euden overheard somehow, and then had nightmares of the second. The one piece of evidence to suggest part one happened is this tidbit, which implicates there was at least one time where the two of them were talking alone about something:

Even then, they might have had a private conversation wherein the trusting curse was triggered (since what we saw of that conversation, it wasn't triggered) that Euden saw but didn't hear, later had a nightmare imagining what was going on and then had Nightmare the Sequel later with Amane and Elisanne, trying to re-contextualize the nightmare with Ranzal dead instead of everyone else around them dropping.

So yeah, minor, inconsequential food for thought. With the cliffhanger at the end, though, I do wonder if they were plotting a sequel-style event or other followup later on. Wonder what that would've been like!

HAPPY 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY DRAGALIA LOST!!! to mark this momentous occasion i decided to go back and recreate my old moveset for EUDEN AND MIDGARDSORMR FORGE A PACT WITH SMASH! this human and dragon duo have a unique playstyle that focuses on building up quick combos to help fill up a special meter as Euden who is a rather fast moving medium weight sword fighter. once the meter if full you can use the down special to transform into Midgardsormr for a limited amount of time to unleash devastating strength to overwhelm your foes! now for a quick rundown on their specials, starting with...

Euden's specials! which are as follows:

Neutral special, exalted fire: Euden shoots a flaming crescent from his sword that will move forward a set distance similar to clouds neutral special but if it makes contact with a foe it will continue on its path allowing you to hit multiple foes.

Side special, force strike: Euden will take a charging stance as a glowing arrow appears behind him and fills with a lighter color, when the b button is released once the arrow is fully glowing Euden will strike with a strong shield breaker attack, if b is let go before the attack is fully charged it will cancel the attack, it can also be aimed all 360 degrees.

Up special, blazing circlet: Euden will spin around with his blade outstretched and engulfed in flames spiraling him upward, if performed on the ground he will just spin in place instead of upward, think links spin attack but on fire and without the chargeable feature.

Down special when meter isn't full, Helper skills: Euden will call upon some of his closest allies to aid him in battle. each summon behaving almost like a mini assist trophy. the move has a 10 second cooldown to prevent spamming, also the summon order will not reset when K.O.ed. Euden can also freely move around once the ally is summoned on the field, allowing for some good combo potential with the ally. the order of summoning is as follows.

Elisanne, hallowed waters: Elly will leap upward and then strike downward with her spear while its coated in water mana, think a mix of yoshi and bowsers down specials mixed with corrins down air.

Ranzal, tornado bash: ranzal spins around his large axe trapping anyone who gets to close in a cyclone of hurt then at the end of the spinning he will swing his axe outward sending any foes caught flying, basically DK's up special but slower moving.

Luca, radiant bonds: Luca leaps upward and aims his bow at a slight downward angle and shoots an light mana charged mana arrow, the arrow will stun aany opponent it hits.

Cleo, elder cure: Cleo would float up into the air and hold her wand aloft and heals some of Eudens health.

the order then loops back to Elisanne repeating the cycle.

Down special when meter is full, Shapeshift: euden will ascend into the air and be enveloped in light which then disburses as he is transformed into Midgardsormr with whirlwind flows around him creating a weak hitbox to defend himself.

Final smash, exalted glory: Euden quickly dawns his gala armor and thrusts his sword into the ground, creating a radius of glowing energy around him dragging anyone he hits into a cutscene where the prince and his 4 allies join forces to unleash a powerful elemental barrage of attacks to send eudens foes flying. and now moving on to Midgardsormr’s specials.

Neutral special: Calamitious tempest. Midgardsormr would charge a ball of wind mana and launch it in an arc and when it lands or hits something it will explode into a blast of air, it’s chargeable which affects the strength and distance of the projectile.

Side special: Grand tempest. Midgardsormr claps his wings together to creat a small tornado that travels in a straight line a set distance then dissipates, anyone hit by the tornado will be launched straight up, making it a good tool for starting air combos, it also pushes mids back a bit cause of the powerful gale force of his wings clapping.

Up special: Tornado tail/Tornado spiral. On the ground Midgardsormr will perform his signature attack tornado tail, a powerful spin that sends near by foes flying. But in the air he instead summon a small tornado below him to push him upward, it’s similar to charizard’s up special.

Down special: Calamitous storm. Midgardsormr would unleash a powerful burst of wind mana around him devastating all those caught in its wake, but at a hefty cost, it drains his meter to empty forcing the player to revert back to Euden, the strength and size of the blast is dependent on how much energy is left in his dragon pulse meter. Like hero’s magic burst.

Final smash: Greatwyrms pact. Midgardsormr would let out a mighty roar that shakes the air around him, anyone to close to him would be dragged to a cutscene where the other 5 greatwyrms surround the players, the camera would then pan up to reveal Midgardsormr in his high dragon form charging a blast of wind mana, which he then unleashed on the foes and the other 5 greatwyrms also shoot off blasts their respected elemental mana. If the opponent is at over 100% damage it’s an automatic K.O. by learning how to take the unique playstyle's of both Euden and Midgardsormr in tandem you can overcome any obstacle in your path with ease. thank you for reading and heres to 5 years of remembering one of the greatest mobile games of all time and a forgotten gem of a nintendo franchise, heres hoping one day we will see the world of Dragalia Lost again. HAPPY 5TH ANNIVERSARY!!!

Okay I need to talk about this dream I had today that I want to do art for later, and will get to eventually hopefully BUT 

If you love Dragalia and you love Magi, strap in, this one’s for you. 

Basically in my dream, there was a new facility event (logically it was probably one of the crossover events like FE or Megaman, both of which I could not play because my phone is old lol) but it was weird because we got Alibaba as a free 4* unit; he was a fire dagger. There was an accompanying pull, which consisted of Aladdin as a 4* wind wand, Morgiana as a 4* fire lance with specific special animations, and Sinbad as the 5* fire unit. 

Aladdin and Morg acted as normal adventurers, where when you paired them with a dragon they would just transform into it. Aladdin had a shielding skill and even though he was a wand he acted as a healer, and again Morg had special actions where even though she attacked with the same range and force strike as a lance, instead of stabbing she did kicks and punches. Kinda like Veronica I guess? Where she has the book but you still get to choose her weapon but she never holds it lol

Anyway the fun part of the dream was Alibaba and Sinbad. So Alibaba was the free 4*, and he could be equipped with a dragon to get the stats BUT, instead of having the dragon next to him to transform, it was Amon’s face. So when you transformed, he went into his full Djinn Equip, and was roughly the size and model of one of the human-like dragons like Apollo or Marishiten. So SINBAD, being the 5*, was like this but ELEVATED. Because it was a fire event, Sinbad’s base element was fire, but like that other post I made about Daoko, he switched attributes depending on what team he was on. And like Alibaba, he had the same system of “gets stats from dragon but transforms into Djinn.” BUT BECAUSE HE SWAPPED ATTRIBUTES, HE HAD FIVE DIFFERENT TRANSFORMATIONS IT WAS SO COOL. So every time he swapped attributes, the Djinn that showed up in the transformation button next to his face was different akfslf 

In my dream he had Focalor for fire, which I think was just the color similarity, but thinking about this later, Sinbad would be a 5* fire sword and his Djinn in accordance to attribute would be: Focalor for wind, Valefor for Water (cuz ice like Lily and Fiorm), Baal for light (cuz he’s lightning, like Albert), even though he was never shown in the anime Crocell for fire, and then because he has no where else to fit Zepar for dark (although Furfur, similarly not shown, is Actually the Djinn of ‘Rending Darkness’ soooo). Their moves would all summon the eight pointed star when used haha, and For Sure Baal’s attack would be Bararaq Inquerad Saiqa, and Focalor’s would be Cleaving Wind haha. Valefor’s Stagnation would probably just freeze all enemies on map for a second, which is not how he works in the manga/anime BUT it would be good for cheese LOL

While I was telling my gf about this this AM, I was also thinking how good it would be to have the Ren kids too. Like Kouen as a 5* fire blade or sword with Astaroth and his flaming dragon (and maybe his other skills reference his other Djinn, like he has a healing move for Phenex), Hakuryuu as a wind bow with Zagan or a dark lance with Belial, Kouha as a dark axe with Laraje, Kougyoku my GIRL as a water sword with Venea, and Hakuei as a wind wand or sword with Paimon. Maybe like a prt. 2 of the event or something haha

It’ll never happen, but I think this could work as a really cool event. Especially because I think Alibaba and Euden would get along with each other, and Elly/Morg would probably bond over protecting their idiot blonde fire princes haha Clau and Hakuryuu cooking together, and Aladdin/Kouha/Luca/Ranzal hitting it off and playing pranks. Kougyoku and Hakuei would probably enjoy chilling with Elly and Clau over tea; but also considering how much Vanessa and Yachiyo like to fight, Kougyoku would have a great time sparring them so it would just be Hakuei and the other two sitting by and watching while those three go to town on each other LOL And it would be cool to see Euden learning from both Sinbad and Kouen (and maybe in the end deciding that they’re extreme opposite sides of the same coin, and deciding to continue to pursue something in the center even if it’s harder but it’s because as a ruler he believes it’s what’s right for his people. Sinbad could say something like “that’s how a true king could think,” and Kouen could be like “lofty ideal, but admirable” or something haha)

Nintendo confirming that Euden is and always will be a siscon. I've seen enough harem animes where the imouto was a love interest (nevermind that she's actually his onee-chan) to know where this is going. It's all over once someone says "we're not actually blood relations".

Interesting(?) Corollary on Aroarce!Euden

So, I've kinda already dug up the more obvious scenes that hint that Euden seemed to be Aroace (as seen here if you missed it).

But as I was spamming Dragalia to my friend today, I found another thing that I think is an interesting addition to this previous evidence.

Specifically, Orion's stories. His base form doesn't exactly give out any flags, aside from his continuing absolute blind spot re. romance...

...But his Valentine's alt has an interesting line in it indeed.

The exchange is as follows:

Again, pretty innocent. Euden thinks he's 'too young' essentially, to be worrying about that, etc. Fair enough.

But this concept seems to be echoed again all the way later in Summer Mym's story.

I'll stress the 'not mature enough to understand what it means to be in love' part for this one.

Here's where it gets hypothetical, but to me, it almost comes across as if Euden, growing up, has learned to associate 'romantic love' with 'maturity' in some fashion. It might stand to reason: kids are often told that, when they see couples behaving certain ways that are weird to them, etc, 'you'll understand when you're older/an adult/when you find that special someone/etc.' So child!Euden might have had a similar moment or three, and associated that romantic love=maturity.

The mere omnipresence of romance as a major theme in society probably doesn't help to dissuade the notion that it's the 'normal' state in the world, and that he is the weird one as he grew up to never having that spark of 'oh now I get romantic love'. Combined with the aforementioned connection he's made, Euden might believe that since he still doesn't feel it, it means he's not mature/too young.

Combined with his other comments over the years like flat-out stating to Naveed he doesn't understand the kind of love he's talking about (romantic) to Malora's story where he says "(romantic love/'capturing someone's affections') [is] just not the kind of thing [he] think about", Euden is consistent on the notion that he just flat out doesn't understand what people mean and feel regarding romance and the corresponding love.

At the very most, he can echo some of the trope sentiments people commonly say word-for-word in media, but even that kinda reinforces that he can at best throw out the most common tropes when trying to come up with what 'romantic love' is: this fanciful 'love at first sight' devotion where one puts absolutely everything about their partners ahead of anything else.

Even then, he doesn't mean a word of it and doesn't really understand why Elisanne is acting all weird about it, because he understands it was an act, she knows that, why would anyone react to having that spoke to them? He was just mindlessly repeating tropes from romance books to upset a dumb fiend. At most, he could see why it was uncomfortable - because it is uncomfortable having that kind of stuff professed to you when you don't like someone, which Euden would perceive Elly as feeling (Heck, he doesn't even really know Elisanne is big into romance novels, thinking 'it's not like her'). In fact, he more bases this comment on making her uncomfortable from a religious sense with the whole 'undying love of Ilia' thing she's forsworn above all else.

So yeah. Valentine's Orion provided an interesting prequel to Summer Mym's story that I felt added a new little layer of elaboration about what Euden thinks of love. All in all, it's surprising just how consistent they were in the messaging some of Euden's thoughts regarding romantic love and its associates.

Also, apparently the dev team was being funny, and decided to add a running joke for Orion's anniversary lines that Euden just immediately starts walking away and ignoring him whenever he starts waxing poetic about love:

Which, as my friend said, "Honestly what a mood for Euden to walk away/zone out when it comes to things he doesn't experience, aka romance. If he doesn't know what it's like then it's hard to focus or even relate"

The idea of Euden just getting a glaze over his eyes and meandering off whenever somebody starts talking like this is a funny one, though!

Seriously, I’ve tried so hard to summon her on the previous banners, and then she comes home on this banner after only two summon vouchers!? Speaking of H!Elly, why the heck is she the only one who gets a spiral?? Like, aside from Odetta, I don’t really use any of the other Halloween units so I don’t have much reason to be upset, but for crying out loud who even uses H!Althemia?? And I dunno about H!Edward, but he certainly could use a spiral too! I can see the other ones not getting theirs since they’re more recent, but there’s still no excuse for H!Althemia and H!Edward being shafted!
