authors note: couldn’t get this out of my head so i decided to share it with my jules girlies. he would be the sweetest boy dad.

“he’s the sweetest baby, mi amor.” inĩgo’s wife fawned over your baby boy, emile, who stumbled around the pitch, waving and shouting excitedly at anyone who looked his way. he loved to bury himself in your legs when a woman smiled back at him, finding it so comical that they noticed him as if he hadn’t been trying to get their attention all along. he placed his small hands on the ground to steady himself as he plopped down onto the grass - he began to squeal at the feeling of the pitch underneath his fingers. emile loved to touch whatever was near him - from his bucket hat, to pulling out the laces of his shoes, emile kept himself distracted. the amount of kids screaming and running around the pitch alongside the fans shouting to grab the team’s attention as they walked out onto the pitch would send most babies into a panic. laurent wasn’t most babies, though. he was a perfect mix of you and jules.

“gracias.” you beamed. you couldn’t remember your life before your husband jules and emile. without jules, you wouldn’t be in this gorgeous place feeling so loved and cared for. “he’s so precious, i feel so lucky to be his mama.”

jules took his time getting to the middle of the pitch. he allowed himself the time to snap a few photos with fans and sign autographs. there was nothing you loved more than seeing him interact with his fans, so you snapped a photos of your own before tucking your phone away. as he headed in your direction, your smile grew bigger at the change of proximity, unable to fight the excitement that rushed through you. he was only a few steps away when ran into him and congratulated him on the team’s victory , showering him with compliments and “i love you’s.” jules eyes were red from the champagne showers and tears of joy. the last time you saw him cry was when he held your son in his arms for the first time after hours of labor. jules told you that he had fallen in love with you all over again during your labor and his heart was so full that he wanted to have another baby, soon.

jules turned before he crouched down to pick up his son who was just as eager to see him, wrapping his arms around his jules’ neck. emile buried his head into his dad’s nape, his sneaker clad feet wiggling the entire time. jules was naturally rougher with emile, tipping him backwards and upside down just to hear his laugh echo through the air. it never failed to make you stress seeing jules rough house with despite knowing jules would never let anything bad happen. it was the part of being a mom no one warned you about: your husband carrying your baby in the most absurd ways and earning nothing but giggles in return.

“as-tu vu papa?” (did you see papa?) jules asked, receiving an eager nod from the toddler.

“coup, coup!” (kick, kick) emile exclaimed. his vocabulary was expanding each day but his favorite words seemed to revolve around football, much to jules delight. jules was certain that emile was going to take the entire football industry by storm, despite the boy having barely kicked a ball.

“oui, coup.” (yes, kick.) your husband peppered him with a few more kisses before letting emile go and join the rest of the kids on the pitch mimicking the last minutes of the game, falling over one another to get to the ball. emile ran behind the group more than he actually played but he was happy with that, clapping and yelling “coup, coup!” to the other kids.

“comment te sens-tu?” (how are you feeling?) you asked, placing your hand on his back. his eyes crinkled as he smiled down at you and your heart fluttered at the eye contact. jules had not slowed down for a moment since he became a father - his drive for success only doubled with the arrival of your son. you were scared it was going to be too much for him to handle but in the end, after endless sleepless nights, sacrificing his sleep for yours despite having to be up early, he was a champion once more.

“mon corps me fait tellement mal, si je suis honnête.” (my body hurts so fucking bad if we’re being honest.) jules laughed. you rubbed his back affectionately and made him promise to actually rest for once in his life. you were looking forward to slow mornings with the sun on your skin, with him in your arms.

“are you going to take me on that vacation you promised me?” you moved to stand in front of him, resting your arms on his shoulders and crossed your wrists behind his head.

“are you going to give emile a sibling?” he smirked bringing his face closer to yours.

“mmm, we can definitely practice. emile is just a baby.” you countered.

“the closer the better, no?” jules countered, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

“déjame tomarte una foto, vamos, muévete.” (let me take your photo, c’mon, move.) inĩgo’s wife ordered the two of you and you followed her instructions. a few of jules teammates whistled and cheered teasingly. the two of you were among the youngest of the team but were a main staple of keeping the friendships alive between everyone. you couldn’t count the amount of times you hosted people at your home in the countryside, opening your doors for the rookies and veterans alike. even the coaches dotted on the two of you. the wags threw you an entire baby shower outside of the one your family and friends planned.

as you held on to your husband, all you could think about was the fact you had been there for him for years - praying and fostering his success. you’d learned so much about yourself in the process. emile didn’t let the two of you hold onto each other long without interrupting, asking to be held. you had so much love in your life you weren’t sure what to do with it, but as jules cooed and directed emile’s eyes towards the camera it all seemed to fall into place. you wanted another baby and wanted an entire lifetime with your little family. with the glimpse of the future in your eyes, you smiled even wider.

Friedrich August Kekulé, later Friedrich August Kekule von Stradonitz

German organic chemist. From the 1850s until his death, Kekulé was one of the most prominent chemists in Europe, especially in theoretical chemistry. He was the principal founder of the theory of chemical structure and in particular the Kekulé structure of benzene.

In 1856, Kekulé became Privatdozent at the University of Heidelberg. In 1858, he was hired as full professor at the University of Ghent, then in 1867 he was called to Bonn, where he remained for the rest of his career. Basing his ideas on those of predecessors such as Williamson, Charles Gerhardt, Edward Frankland, William Odling, Auguste Laurent, Charles-Adolphe Wurtz and others, Kekulé was the principal formulator of the theory of chemical structure (1857–58). This theory proceeds from the idea of atomic valence, especially the tetravalence of carbon (which Kekulé announced late in 1857) and the ability of carbon atoms to link to each other (announced in a paper published in May 1858),

to the determination of the bonding order of all of the atoms in a molecule. Archibald Scott Couper independently arrived at the idea of self-linking of carbon atoms (his paper appeared in June 1858), and provided the first molecular formulas where lines symbolize bonds connecting the atoms. For organic chemists, the theory of structure provided dramatic new clarity of understanding, and a reliable guide to both analytic and especially synthetic work. As a consequence, the field of organic chemistry developed explosively from this point. Among those who were most active in pursuing early structural investigations were, in addition to Kekulé and Couper, Frankland, Wurtz, Alexander Crum Brown, Emil Erlenmeyer, and Alexander Butlerov.

Kekulé's idea of assigning certain atoms to certain positions within the molecule, and schematically connecting them using what he called their "Verwandtschaftseinheiten" ("affinity units", now called "valences" or "bonds"), was based largely on evidence from chemical reactions, rather than on instrumental methods that could peer directly into the molecule, such as X-ray crystallography. Such physical methods of structural determination had not yet been developed, so chemists of Kekulé's day had to rely almost entirely on so-called "wet" chemistry. Some chemists, notably Hermann Kolbe, heavily criticized the use of structural formulas that were offered, as he thought, without proof. However, most chemists followed Kekulé's lead in pursuing and developing what some have called "classical" structure theory, which was modified after the discovery of electrons (1897) and the development of quantum mechanics (in the 1920s).

The idea that the number of valences of a given element was invariant was a key component of Kekulé's version of structural chemistry. This generalization suffered from many exceptions, and was subsequently replaced by the suggestion that valences were fixed at certain oxidation states. For example, periodic acidaccording to Kekuléan structure theory could be represented by the chain structure I-O-O-O-O-H. By contrast, the modern structure of (meta) periodic acid has all four oxygen atoms surrounding the iodine in a tetrahedral geometry.

Kekulé's most famous work was on the structure of benzene. In 1865 Kekulé published a paper in French (for he was then still in Belgium) suggesting that the structure contained a six-membered ring of carbon atoms with alternating single and double bonds. The following year he published a much longer paper in German on the same subject.

The empirical formula for benzene had been long known, but its highly unsaturated structure was a challenge to determine. Archibald Scott Couperin 1858 and Joseph Loschmidt in 1861 suggested possible structures that contained multiple double bonds or multiple rings, but the study of aromatic compounds was in its earliest years, and too little evidence was then available to help chemists decide on any particular structure.

More evidence was available by 1865, especially regarding the relationships of aromatic isomers. Kekulé argued for his proposed structure by considering the number of isomers observed for derivatives of benzene. For every monoderivative of benzene (C6H5X, where X = Cl, OH, CH3, NH2, etc.) only one isomer was ever found, implying that all six carbons are equivalent, so that substitution on any carbon gives only a single possible product. For diderivatives such as the toluidines, C6H4(NH2)(CH3), three isomers were observed, for which Kekulé proposed structures with the two substituted carbon atoms separated by one, two and three carbon-carbon bonds, later named ortho, meta, and para isomers respectively.

The counting of possible isomers for diderivatives was, however, criticized by Albert Ladenburg, a former student of Kekulé, who argued that Kekulé's 1865 structure implied two distinct "ortho" structures, depending on whether the substituted carbons are separated by a single or a double bond. Since ortho derivatives of benzene were never actually found in more than one isomeric form, Kekulé modified his proposal in 1872 and suggested that the benzene molecule oscillates between two equivalent structures, in such a way that the single and double bonds continually interchange positions. This implies that all six carbon-carbon bonds are equivalent, as each is single half the time and double half the time. A firmer theoretical basis for a similar idea was later proposed in 1928 by Linus Pauling, who replaced Kekulé's oscillation by the concept of resonancebetween quantum-mechanical structures

The new understanding of benzene, and hence of all aromatic compounds, proved to be so important for both pure and applied chemistry after 1865 that in 1890 the German Chemical Society organized an elaborate appreciation in Kekulé's honor, celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of his first benzene paper. Here Kekulé spoke of the creation of the theory. He said that he had discovered the ring shape of the benzene molecule after having a reverie or day-dream of a snake seizing its own tail (this is an ancient symbol known as the ouroboros). This is likely an example of the exercise of a particular imaginative state, involving homospatial and janusian processes, followed by stepwise logical thinking.

A similar humorous depiction of benzene had appeared in 1886 in the Berichte der Durstigen Chemischen Gesellschaft (Journal of the Thirsty Chemical Society), a parody of the Berichte der Deutschen Chemischen Gesellschaft, only the parody had six monkeys seizing each other in a circle, rather than a single snake as in Kekulé's anecdote. Some historians have suggested that the parody was a lampoon of the snake anecdote, possibly already well-known through oral transmission even if it had not yet appeared in print.  Others have speculated that Kekulé's story in 1890 was a re-parody of the monkey spoof, and was a mere invention rather than a recollection of an event in his life.

Kekulé's 1890 speech, in which these anecdotes appeared, has been translated into English. If one takes the anecdote as reflecting an accurate memory of a real event, circumstances mentioned in the story suggest that it must have happened early in 1862.

He told another autobiographical anecdote in the same 1890 speech, of an earlier vision of dancing atoms and molecules that led to his theory of structure, published in May 1858. This happened, he claimed, while he was riding on the upper deck of a horse-drawn omnibus in London. Once again, if one takes the anecdote as reflecting an accurate memory of a real event, circumstances related in the anecdote suggest that it must have occurred in the late summer of 1855.

His prior musical training includes having studied the trumpet and piano at the Musical Academy in Canterbury High School in Ottawa. And he has worked for 11 years at ABM Records in Ottawa, a dance music record shop selling all kinds of electronic discoteque music and with several European techno/house distributors such as INDISC, PIAS, PRIME, CYBER and KUBIK. At this time, Stepien had an ever-growing music library comprising of an astounding 5.000+ albums. The early Detroit Techno sounds are in his blood and soul as well as the early Chicago Acid House and Ghetto Trax sounds from the end of the 80's early 90's. A a DJ and recording Artis as well he can been seen weaving Techno, House, Electro, Minimal, Deep House, Detroit TechnoBass & UK/EU style Techno plus essential Underground Disco Classics at the leading and underground parties. Teknobrat recently also holds a DJ residency at Mercury Lounge one of the most mythic House Music venues of Canada's Nations Capital. In addition to playing these venues, he used to have his own Techno/House music radio show, LA TEKNOSPHERE RADIO SHOW on CHUO 89.1 FM, Ottawa, wich aired from Sept 1997 to February 2005. Okay, so, apparently it’s a bit of a trend now to share name lists in this community. I have a name list of my own that’s been getting longer and longer. I’m deciding to share it, because I love going over other people’s lists myself and I have found many cool names that way!

          this is a bio post for my muses from c.s. pacat’s captive prince trilogy & short stories. please refer to the trigger tags before reading. skip the bracketed paragraph to avoid them.

          this is prince laurent of vere, portrayed by emil andersson. 

          as a child, laurent was said to be sweet, precocious, & extremely attached to his older brother. auguste was, in laurent’s own words, “everything” he had. his world changed when, at the age of thirteen, he lost his brother and his father in battle at marlas. being too young to take the throne, stewardship of vere was given to his uncle, the regent, & the council.

          [following the deaths of his brother and father, laurent was sexually abused by his uncle for at least a year, likely two. he was often drunk, or drugged, during these times. as a result of his trauma, laurent is averse to touch ( unless, of course, he initiates it himself ) & stays away from alcohol. he tries, as much as he’s able, to help his uncle’s other victims – all children, all discarded when they get “too old” for the regent’s tastes.]

          in the regent’s court, laurent grew up to become a shrewd, calculating young man whom others often saw as frigid. even so, he cares deeply for his people & his country. he has an excellent poker face, however, & rarely lets people see his true emotions.

          he is enemies with his uncle, who, out of his desire to retain power over vere, makes it his goal to turn the people against laurent.

          this is jord, portrayed by torrance coombs.

          he is a member of the prince’s guard, reformed by laurent after his brother’s death. he is temporarily named captain of the guard in prince’s gambit. a skilled soldier, jord is extremely loyal to the crown & to those he loves. he does, however, suffer from low self esteem. he worries that the prince has misplaced his trust in him, & believes that his lover, aimeric, could do much better. 

          this is lord berenger, portrayed by henry cavill.

          he’s literally superman. honestly. an aristocrat hailing from the veretian province of varenne, berenger is known throughout his community as someone who will drop anything at a moment’s notice to help somebody else. he remembers the names of everyone he meets, is extremely generous with his wealth, & prefers living simply to the extravagance of the regent’s court. he adores horses, too, & runs an equine breeding program. he is loyal to the crown & offers laurent aid at great personal risk. for the sake of appearances, he brings a pet ( the best way i can describe pets to those unfamiliar with the series is courtesan ), ancel, with him to court. 

          & then he falls in love with him, which definitely wasn’t the plan.
