I really love that everybody plays Stardew so differently. There's people who focus on money and people who focus on aesthetics. There's people who play their farm into the ground and are on year 10, but then there's other people (like me) who frequently start new farms. Some people play it super casually and chill and then there's others (again, like me) who try to speedrun and/or are super goal oriented. Some play vanilla. Others play with mods. And even amongst the modders, there are some who prefer content mods, others go for aesthetic mods, and still others focus on adding QoL mods. And then there are those who add all of the above. Everybody has their own preferences for skills, as well. Some love farming and hate fishing, some love fishing but avoid mining, etc. Every single farmer has their own way to play the game and I think that's really special. It's really amazing how individualized everyone's experiences are with this game. Just wanted to show my appreciation, so thank you CA ☕

hi friends. bit of a serious post today, about stardew valley -

so if you’re unaware, this petition has been going around asking for inclusive pronouns in the game. you can only really get those with mods atm but that’s not fair to people who can’t use mods. this is something that should be in the base game.

ca has been suspiciously quiet about this, despite many many people @ing him on twitter. and now, trans and nonbinary streamers are being harassed and are at risk for talking about this. yet he continues to stay silent.

One of the most effectively realized gameplay concepts in Stardew Valley is the in-game calendar, which determines the course of many crucial events and the pace at which certain activities must be completed. Each season in the game is split up into a 28 day “month”, with the end of that month marking a change in the season, which in turn determines what is available to harvest. But even beyond that, throughout the month different townspeople have their own birthdays on specific days, and special holidays and festivals serve to bring the town together in unique ways all their own. This calendar is multi-layered in its importance to the many other systems that make up the game itself, all while being an intuitive and simplified breakdown of what a year passing by can be.
