Major Exponents of Natural School of Jurisprudence
Evolution, Growth, and Decline of Natural Law
“Natural Law” has from time to time varied according to its purpose and the function to be exercised to meet the needs of the time and circumstances. Therefore, ‘Natural Law’ has been evolved and developed in several phases. The definition and exact meaning of natural law are not unanimous. The term “Natural Law” means in jurisprudence those rules and principles which should originate from a supreme source other than any worldly or political authority.
                   Click Above
‘Rule of Law’ & Natural Law
In England and India, the ‘Rule of Law’ concepts are basically based on Natural Law, but also on ‘due process’ in the USA. The supporters of natural law argue that the concept of justice, right or reason has been derived from the nature of humanity and the law of the natural world. It is generally regarded with invariant content as an ideal source of law.
Major Proponents of Natural Law
John M Finnis, Lon Fuller, Thomas Hobbes, John Locke & J.J  made the most important contributions to the revival of the theory of natural law.
John Finnis (Born 1940)
The law he defines as “mainly the rules that an effective authority makes under regulatory legal regulations for the whole Community.” Natural law does not consider either human nature or metaphysics.
The United States Supreme Court in Lawrence v. Texas, raised the morality issue and the need for natural legislation have been addressed in Texas. Finnis has attempted to re-establish and modernly analyze and interpret natural law. He also has two major misunderstandings about natural law theory.
He denies that natural law comes from objectiveness and a certain pattern of behavior but claims that the knowledge within it of innate motivation is unknown to people.
Natural law does not pretend that if it contradicts moral law, a law is not law.
According to him 7 basic principles of human nature:
Life
Knowledge
Play
Aesthetic pleasure
Sociability
Practical reasonableness
Religion
Lon Fuller (1902-1978)
He rejects the idea of natural law as an authoritative high- level body and that man’s behavior should be taken into account.
There can be no theory of natural law that seeks to establish an everlasting code of nature in advance. He suggests, instead, that for an old phenomenon a new name is suggested.
He suggests the term ‘Eunomics’ which he defines as “the theory or study of good order and workable arrangement”.
He warns Eunomics that no orthodoxy or doctrine of binding ultimate ends should be tested.
Thomas Hobbes (1558 – 1679)
According to Hobbes, a man was in a chaotic state of constant fear before the “social contract.” Natural life was “solitary, poor, disgusting, brutal and short.”
In order to protect themselves and avoid misery and pain, men voluntarily contracted and gave their freedom to some of the most powerful authorities who could protect their lives and property.
Hobbes was, therefore, a supporter of the ruler’s absolute power and the subjects had no rights against the sovereign. Although he suggests that the sovereign should be bound by ‘natural law,’ it is only a moral duty.
It would, therefore, be apparent that Hobbes used the theory of natural law to support the sovereign’s absolute authority.
He advocated a declared order. During the British civil war, his theory was supported by the monarch. It was, in fact, a stable and secure government.
In Hobbes’ theory, individualism, materialism, utilitarianism and absolutism are all interwoven.
John Locke (1632 – 1704)
The state of nature was a golden age, according to Locke, where only the property was unsafe.
Men entered into a “social contract” for the purpose of protecting property. Under this contract, man has not abandoned all his rights, but only a part of them, namely to maintain order and enforce nature’s laws.
It retained its natural rights as the right to life, freedom and property.
According to him, the integrity of the laws is primarily determined by the process used to achieve their objectives. The morality that allows law requires the fulfillment of 6 conditions:
There must be general rules for guiding actions.
These rules must be publicly known.
The rules should be prospective in nature, which means that they should be future-oriented and not regressive.
They should be designed to be comprehensive and easy to understand.
It should be compatible with other rules.
They should be reasonably stable, which should not be altered too often.
The objective of government and law is to uphold and protect the rights of nature. As long as the government fulfills this objective, the laws it gives are valid and binding, but when it stops doing so, its laws are invalid and the government can be overthrown.
Locke pleaded for limited constitutional government. The doctrine of ‘laissez-faire’ in the 19th century was the result of the freedom of an individual in matters relating to economic activities that were supported in Locke’s theory.
In contrast to Hobbes, who supported the state authority, Locke advocated individual freedom.
Jean Rousseau (1712 – 1778)
Rousseau pointed out that the ‘social contract’ is not a historical fact, as Hobbes and Locke envisaged, but is merely a hypothetical concept. Before the so-called “social contract,” life was happy and equality between men existed.
People united to preserve their rights to freedom and equality and to this end they gave up their rights not to a single person, i.e. to the sovereign, but to the community as a whole, whom Rousseau called “general will.”
It is therefore the duty of each person to obey the ‘general will,’ because he directly obeys his own will.
The state’s existence is for the protection of liberty and equality.
The State and its legislation are both subject to “general will” and are discarded if government and law are not in compliance with “general will.”
Rousseau promoted the sovereignty of the people. His theory of ” natural law” is limited to the individual’s freedom and equality.
For him, the interchangeable terms are state, law, sovereignty, general will etc.

Meme-mystifying Frisia
Where our journey began…
Tumblr media
[Translations: 1st Picture ‘My piece of Sugarbread’, ‘Dad’ (taking the last piece), 2nd: ‘Crying’, 3rd: ‘Nice bite’, 4th: ‘Groninger: *speaks with an accent*, What I hear: whla whla whla whla’]
As you all already know, it’s a bit of a strange situation we are all in at the moment, in a time of social distancing, it seems we have to come up with new ways to keep ourselves occupied. If there is one thing that can get us all through and keep us entertained... it’s gotta be memes, and for the Frisians it’s no different!
These days it’s difficult for many Frisians to experience their ‘Frisianness’ in a group setting or in person, but on online platforms such as Instagram, this is still possible. Pages like Omrop Fryslân or ‘FryslânMemelân’ can create a shared experience, even if you are sitting at home by yourself.
Instagram pages like these can be seen as online mediations of Heritage. It allow for cultures to showcase their shared heritage.[1] The Omrop Fryslân page consists of a variety of different posts expressing ‘Frisianness’ daily, there is information about what is happening in the province, decade old tales of Fryslân and Frisians, as well as light hearted videos and memes to allow the reader a little respite, particularly in times like these. It allows for Frisians to experience their shared heritage on an online platform; but also allows ‘non-Frisians’ to experience, even just for a few minutes, what it must be like to be a Frisian.
Tumblr media
Omrop Fryslan is the regional Frisian radio broadcaster with a mainly older audience of listeners, as most young people tend not to listen to the radio, their Instagram page is catered towards a younger audience. Whether it’s complaining about your Dad taking the last bit of Sûkerbôle, or insulting Groningers, it seems there’s a strong community feeling of what it means to be Frisian, particularly for younger Frisians who may only speak the language with their immediate families.
What Katie found when looking through the comments of some of the posts, is the banter and jokes shared between Frisians, who otherwise probably would never have met. There is a connection the audience has with each other through their shared Heritage and language.
Tumblr media
[Translation: 1st: ‘A new day, by Frisian band the Kast’, 2nd: ‘When I express myself in Frisian, vs when I express myself in Dutch/ABN’, 3rd: ‘When your girl leaves you for a Groninger, rough translation:‘crap’, 4th: A Hollander waiting for confirmation that Frisian is a dialect’]
Sites like these ‘remystify’ the idea of what it means to be Frisian, as Cato noticed, Fryslân is stereotypically seen as a province of farmers, and the language is seen as only spoken by the elderly in rural villages. Although the memes often live up to this stereotype with humour, joking about the farmer lifestyle and fierljeppen (pole jumping), these memes in fact are evidence in itself that it is not a culture of the past, but it is very much modern and thriving.
As Professor Jensma mentions in ‘Remystifying Frisia’. There is a remystification of Frisian culture taking place today. Jensma refers to physical experiences such as authentic trips to Frisian farms or bands like Baldrs Draumar singing tales of the glorious Frisian past; these are all examples of experiencing ‘Frisianness’ as a historical and mythical concept[2]. We would argue that Frisian memes and gifs provide another form of experience in what it means to be Frisian… Is it authentic? That’s another question. Will such a tag as ‘authentic Frisian memes’ exist in decades or centuries to come? Who knows.
In the evermore connected world we live in, it is easy for peripheral cultures to cling to nationalistic ideologies and retrench themselves into their heritage. Here this is not the case, pages like these have ‘moved with the times’ so to speak. This in turn helps change stereotypes young Frisians may have of their province, as well as change misconceptions from those who are from other areas of the Netherlands looking in. It is a mediation of heritage between insiders and outsiders (Like a local and a tourist).
Furthermore, Emma found that, as Frisian is more an oral language than a written language, these platforms expose young people to Frisian in its written form, and to the Frisian ‘slang’. Frisian children have limited experience learning Frisian in schools, and many leave school without having learned even basic reading and writing skills[3]. Unlike being in classes learning the Frisian spelling and grammar, or reading Frisian literature books written by old men, ‘Fryske memes en gifkes’ shows a funnier, cooler and younger language.
An online presence for minority languages and cultures is of paramount importance in upholding a shared sense of community and heritage, it has also allowed a language to redefine itself. The number of Frisians who could also write in Frisian has risen from 17% (in 1994) to 29% in 2011! All thanks to these social media platforms.[4]
Instagram pages like Omrop Fryslân allow Frisians to experience their ‘Frisianess’ in an online setting, particularly for those who have moved out of the province or the country, and now more than ever before, it allows Frisians in Fryslân to experience their Frisianness from home. For a minority language with the reputation of being spoken by farmers and village folk, these platforms show a younger, more digital and developed concept of ‘Frisianness’, . It is an online community consisting of 51.9k followers, all coming together to experience their shared cultural heritage.

I think it’s safe to say, this journey down our Instagram feed has been an interesting one, can you think of any other examples of heritage mediation on Instagram or other social media platforms? What do they mean to you? We’d love to hear what you think!
Until the next time!

EPISTLE OF ST. PAUL, THE APOSTLE, TO THE PHILIPPIANS - From The Latin Vulgate Bible
Chapter 2
PREFACE.
Philippi, a considerable city in Macedonia, so called from Philip, father of Alexander the Great. St. Paul had preached there. Those people had a great veneration for him, and supplied his wants when he was at Corinth, and again when he was a prisoner at Rome, sending to him by Epaphroditus, who is thought to have been the bishop of Philippi. St. Paul sent this letter by him to the Philippians, (written during his imprisonment) from Rome; but whether during his first or second imprisonment, is uncertain. It is generally believed that St. Paul wrote it about the year 62, in his first confinement. In it he testifies to the faithful his most tender gratitude and acknowledgement for the assistance they had sent him, and a zeal the most ardent for their salvation. He felicitates them on their courage under sufferings for the cause of Jesus Christ, on their good works also, and forcibly excites them to confidence and joy. The Philippians were the first among the Macedonians converted to the faith. St. Paul, in this epistle, recommends charity, unity, and humility; and warns them against false teachers, whom he calls dogs, and enemies of the cross of Christ. He also returns thanks for their benefactions. It was written about twenty-nine years after our Lord's ascension.
Chapter 2
He recommends to them unity and humility; and to work out their salvation with fear and trembling.
1 If there be, therefore, any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of charity, if any fellowship of the spirit, if any bowels of commiseration:
Notes & Commentary:
Ver. 1. If there be, therefore, any consolation. If you have any desire to comfort me in Christ, or for Christ's sake. (Witham)
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that you be of one mind, having the same charity, being of one accord, agreeing in sentiment.
Ver. 2. No explanation given.
3 Let nothing be done through strife, nor by vain-glory: but in humility, let each esteem others better than themselves.
Ver. 3. Esteem others better than themselves. St. Thomas Aquinas (22. q. 162. a. 3.) puts the question, how an innocent man can with truth think himself worse than the most wicked of men? He answers, that a man who has received very extraordinary gifts from God, cannot think these gifts less than what any other has received; but he may reflect that he has nothing, and is nothing of himself. And a man truly humble considers only his own sins and failings, and is persuaded that any other person would have made better use of the same graces; which agrees with what follows, (ver. 4) not considering the things that are his own. (Witham)
4 Each one not considering the things that are his own, but those that are other men's.
Ver. 4. The things that are his. Self-love and self-interest are the two great sources of divisions. The Christian religion teaches a contrary doctrine. (Calmet)
5 For let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Ver. 5. No explanation given.
6 Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery, to be himself equal to God:
Ver. 6. Who being in the form[1] of God, (that is truly, properly, and essentially God from eternity, as the ancient Fathers here observed against the Arians) taking the form of a servant, (i.e. taking upon him our human nature) became truly a man, and as man the servant of God, but remaining always God as before, thought it not robbery, no injury to his eternal Father, to be equal, to be esteemed, and to declare himself equal to God, to be one thing with him: as on divers occasions he taught the people, as we have observed in the notes on St. John's gospel, &c. (Witham)
Note 1:
Ver. 6. In formâ Dei, en morphe Theou. See St. Chrysostom (tom. iv. p. 31. 32. log. 5.) where he shews how many heresies are confuted by these words: and says, e morphe tou doulou, e phusis doulou....kai e morphe tou Theou, Theou phusis. See St. Gregory of Nyssa...3. contra Eunom.; St. Augustine, lib. 1. de Trin. chap. 1. &c.
7 But debased himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men, and in shape found as a man.
Ver. 7. But debased himself: divested himself of all the marks of greatness, for the love of mankind. The Greek text signifies, he made himself void;[2] on which account Dr. Wells, instead of made himself of no reputation, as in the Protestant translation, has changed it into emptied himself; not but that the true Son of God must always remain truly God, as well as by his incarnation truly man, but that in him as man appeared no marks of his divine power and greatness. --- Made to the likeness[3] of men, not only as to an exterior likeness and appearance, but at the same time truly man by uniting his divine person to the nature of man. --- In shape[4] (or habit) found as a man: not clothed exteriorly only, as a man is clothed with a garment or coat, but found both as to shape and nature a man; and, as St. Chrysostom says, with the appearance of a sinful man, if we consider him persecuted by the Jews, and nailed to an infamous cross. (Witham)
Note 2:
Ver. 7. Exinanivit Semetipsum, ekenose, evacuavit, a kenos, vacuus. See St. Chrysostom, hom. vii.
Note 3:
Ver. 7. In similitudinem hominum factus, en omoiomati. St. Chrysostom, p. 40. log. x. See Romans viii. in similitudine carnis peccati.
Note 4:
Ver. 7. Et habitu inventus ut homo, schemati euretheis os anthropos. See St. Chrysostom, ibid. i.e. habitu factus est.
8 He humbled himself, becoming obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Ver. 8. No explanation given.
9 Wherefore God also hath exalted him, and hath given him a name which is above every name:
Ver. 9. God....hath given him a name, &c. The name or word Jesus represents the dignity of him who is signified by the name, and who is exalted even as man, above all creatures in heaven, earth, and hell; all which creatures either piously reverence him, or are made subject to him against their will, that every tongue may confess our Lord Jesus to be now, and to have been always, in the glory of his Father, equal to him in substance and in all perfections. (Witham)
10 That in the name of Jesus, every knee should bow of those that are in heaven, on earth, and under the earth;
Ver. 10. If we shew respect when the name of our sovereign is mentioned, may we not express our respect also at the name of Jesus; and if to his name, why not to his cross as well as to the throne of the king?
11 And that every tongue should confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father.
Ver. 11. No explanation given.
12 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but much more now in my absence) work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
Ver. 12. With fear and trembling. That is, be equally upon your guard against presumption and despair. St. Paul is anxious to inspire a just confidence in Jesus Christ, but he is not less solicitous to root out all self-confidence arising from our supposed merits or excellence.
13 For it is God who worketh in you both to will and to accomplish, according to the good-will.
Ver. 13. It is God who worketh in you both to will and to accomplish. We can neither have a will, nor begin, nor fulfil any thing of ourselves, in order to a reward in heaven. (Witham) --- Our free-will is not taken away, or we should not be commanded to work; but it is added, with fear and trembling, says St. Augustine, that we might not be proud of our good works. (De grat. et de lib. ab. chap. ix.)
14 And do ye all things without murmurings and hesitations:
Ver. 14. No explanation given.
15 That you may be blameless, and sincere children of God, without reproof, in the midst of a depraved and perverse generation: among whom you shine as lights in the world.
Ver. 15. No explanation given.
16 Holding forth the word of life to my glory in the day of Christ, because I have not run in vain, nor laboured in vain.
Ver. 16. To my glory, &c. That is, I beseech you to continue in faith, and comply with the word and doctrine of the gospel, that I may have glory, and rejoice together with you in the day of Christ, when he shall come to judgment. (Witham)
17 Yea, and if I be made a victim upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and congratulate with you all.
Ver. 17. And if I be made a victim upon the sacrifice[5] and service of your faith, I rejoice, &c. The sense of these obscure words seems to be: that I shall rejoice, and you also may rejoice and congratulate with me, if after having first offered up your faith and obedience to the gospel, as an acceptable sacrifice to God, I myself (or my blood, by martyrdom) be also added, and poured out as a second sacrifice upon the other. It is to be understood with an allusion to those sacrifices of the old law called libations, consisting of liquid things, as wine, oil, blood, which were poured out, or at least sprinkled, upon other victims and things sacrificed: so that he compares the shedding of his blood to these libations, and their submission to the faith of Christ to the sacrifice before offered to God. (Witham)
Note 5:
Ver. 17. Sed etsi immolor super sacrificium, et obsequium fidei vestræ, alla ei kai spendoma: epi to thusia, kai leitourgia tes pisteos umon: spendesthai, est libari, eo modo quo sanguis effunditur super sacrificia.
18 And for the self-same thing do you also rejoice, and congratulate with me.
Ver. 18. No explanation given.
19 And I hope in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know the things concerning you.
Ver. 19. To send Timothy. It appears that St. Paul could not send Timothy to Philippi till some time after his deliverance from prison, about the year 63 of Jesus Christ[A.D. 63]. (Tillemont) --- In the succeeding verse, we see the high esteem in which Timothy was held by this apostle.
20 For I have no man so of the same mind, who with sincere affection is solicitous for you.
Ver. 20. No explanation given.
21 For all seek the things that are their own, not the things that are Jesus Christ's.
Ver. 21. All seek the things that are their own; i.e. many do so. (Witham)
22 Now know ye the proof of him, that as a son with the father, so hath he served with me in the gospel.
Ver. 22. No explanation given.
23 Him, therefore, I hope to send to you immediately, so soon as I shall see the things which concern me.
Ver. 23. No explanation given.
24 And I trust in the Lord, that I also myself shall come to you shortly.
Ver. 24. That I also. This did not take place till full two years were expired, in the year 64: (Tillemont) and others are of opinion, that he was in Macedon when he wrote his first epistle to Timothy. (Theo. Atha. Tille.)
25 But I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and fellow-labourer, and fellow-soldier, but your apostle, and the minister to my wants.
Ver. 25. Epaphroditus....your apostle, and the minister to my wants. Epaphroditus had also laboured after St. Paul, and is thought to have been the bishop of the Philippians; thus he might be called their apostle; though, as others conjecture, the word apostle may be here applied to him as one sent by the Philippians to St. Paul with contributions to supply his wants. (Witham)
26 For indeed he longed after you all: and was sad, for that you had heard that he was sick.
Ver. 26. And was sad. Nothing is a stronger proof of the union that existed between the ancient Christians, than this description of St. Paul: Paul is in prison, and Epaphroditus is dismissed from the extremity of Macedon to come and attend him; Epaphroditus falls sick, and the whole Church at Philippi is in mourning. (Calmet)
27 For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him: and not only on him, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
Ver. 27. No explanation given.
28 Therefore I sent him the more speedily: that seeing him again you may rejoice, and I may be without sorrow.
Ver. 28. And I may be without sorrow; without the great concern and trouble that I am now in for you. (Witham)
29 Receive him, therefore, with all joy in the Lord: and treat with honour such as he is.
Ver. 29. No explanation given.
30 Because, for the work of Christ, he came nigh unto death, delivering up his life, that he might fulfil that which was wanting on your part towards my service.
Ver. 30. Delivering up his life to persecutions, and to this danger that he was in by a sickness which was mortal, had not God restored him his health. He came with your charities, to supply that which was wanting on your part, or which I stood in need of; and I am persuaded you desired to do it sooner, if you had met with an opportunity. (Witham)

I just. Keep thinking about Yao interacting with the other Scribes Guild Members as they trickle in and out of Cantha and--
Brom offering to show Yao all the writing and holo films he's collected of Dietrich and the guild over the years.
Eunome offering to stitch up Yao's cape or design them a whole new outfit.
Ren towering over them and staring down intensely until they're sweating before finally giving them a hard pat on the back and walking away. Enyo and Luka losing it over in the corner as Yao shakes in confusion, but finally telling Yao that's Ren's way of showing approval.
Sasha inviting Yao to dinner with the scouting team, who have become very fond of the noodle stands around New Kaineg. Yao sitting in the middle as Anastasia and Ion squabble and Ptolemy eats bowl after bowl of noodles. Sasha telling them about his and Dietrich's time in the order of whispers.
Attending one of Calytrix's shows with Rama and them talking about how much changed after the Commander crashed onto their beach.
Nowin pulling Yao into the guild kitchen and insisting they try all of the dishes she made for dinner tonight.
Yao sitting with Malika, Solomon and Akula as they pour over armor and weapon designs and blueprints, as Yao explains Jade tech. They're all quite invested in how Yao made their arm and continue talks about creating better synthetic limbs.
Rioko and Maltheal giving Yao a tour of Divinity's Reach and Rioko assigning Yao a room in the guild home that they can use at any time.
Yao going with Amalthea and Noelani to do the monthly shopping and being shocked that they go through the asura gates to visit the major cities for specific groceries and goods.
Yao meeting all the cats in the guild home and introducing Sunmi to them.
I have many feelings lol. 🥺

Eunome,Asura Elementalist
She’s finally 80! So a bit of her backstory <3
Age: 18
Hobbies: Fabric and outfit design. She loves creating things that are both durable and Fashionable. She is also a bit of a fan girl or a certain commander.
Eunome is an orphan whose parents died in a freak lab accident. What was left of her parents Krewe raised her, but she always felt lonely and out of place. Her interests were not quite suited to the asuran colleges coursework. She works hard in her classes but she is positive nothing wil ever come of someone without goals or a family.  Second year of college shes walking by a store and hears another asura (Ion,in fact) buying a holographic project and talking about the commander who is “super awesome and an orphan who came so far!! He came from nothing and now he leads one of the most prominent guilds in Tyria!” (Thanks Ion, you geek) She peeks in and sees the little holo of dietrich, spinning himself into a pillar of flame before snaping off a catch phrase. Her interest is peaked. She tries to walk away but ends up turning back to the shop.
She plays with the small holos of Marshal Trahearne, Almorra SoulKeeper, Counciler Phlunt...After a short time browsing, she ends up spending a few copper on the little holo of Dietrich. She places it on her desk and stares at it every night. After a while she begins to idolize Dietrich and he gives her the strength to move away from the lab and focus on her fabrics. She moves out of her parents lab, giving it to the old krewe, and rents a tiny room at the bottom of Rata Sum. During the day,she sells her pouches and clothes, and takes a few classes while perfecting her durable type fabrics. Fire resistant, water proof, you name it. She reads the news, smiles at the victories of the pact, and worries incessantly when something happens that puts her favorite commander in danger. Life has become a bit better, and she is trying to do her best for herself. She has her inspirations and she is following her own small dreams.
One day as she sits in her tiny booth, working on a new uniform fabric, a voice startles her from her sewing. Looking up, she sees the hologram on her desk standing above her, a light smile on his lips as he compliments her fire proof pouches.

Eunome Lee, Asura Elementalist (and super cute being of ultimate adorableness)
Well, well, well. My Valentine’s present to myself-as all of my characters are, she is based off a certain emotion/idea/event. This time, it is a character created around the idea of love.
BUT WAIT RIO. Don’t you already have a character created based off your idea of love? Why yes, i do indeed, if I may direct your attention to one of my first characters, the cute little Amalthea. However, over the past year I have felt myself growing distant from Amalthea’s portrayal. She is still near and dear to my heart, but the love she represents is no longer what is prominent and important to me. The love you find in Amalthea is the type of love you would find in a friend, someone you have known for a long time. That love feels safe and solid, but it doesn’t go anywhere.
Eunome represents the type of love you would find in someone new. She is all about adventure, passion, and the discovery of self through time spent with another. She is about reaching out, discovering new things, and embracing love even when you are afraid it’s fiery passion may burn you. Eunome is rebirth,of yourself and the idea of love.
I’m very happy to add her to my little family, and would really like to use her for WvW and PvP as I venture into those areas of my legendary journey!
Also huge shoutout to Anet for these gorgeous weapons. They.are.perfect.

as a fellow Rama lover gimmie ❝  when your eyes are on me,  i feel like something worth seeing.  ❞ for Rama and Calytrix!! :D
Thank you for the prompt! Here's a mushy confession scene lol 💜
Rama fidgeted in his seat at the club. It has been several months since the commander had asked him to escort a Scribes guild member into Cantha, for “public relations’ work. “Take good care of her…also, she’s a bit famous, so be on guard.” He had not expected the lavender beauty that stepped through the asura gate and greeted him with a stunning smile. “You must be Rama! My name is Calytrix.”
Since then, he had been her escort and guard to various performances and events between his cases. She was wonderful at PR, and had certainly caught the heart of the Canthan Public. Many had approached and professed their love to the beautiful idol, which has given him a good chuckle at first. After a while however, he realized that he couldn’t pull his eyes away from her. Her laugh and smile made him feel giddy inside. Her requests for an escort put him in a wonderful mood and often times she had invited him just to keep her company for shopping ,or time spent one on one. He had to admit, he felt a bit special to her, and was slowly realizing that he felt more for the idol than he had originally thought.
A few days ago, however, he had walked into the apartment Calytrix had been renting for her time in Cantha, and was met by an obnoxiously giant bouquet of roses and posies, along with other smaller, but just as gaudy, gift boxes that lined the floor “Oh, Rama!” Eunome, the guild’s tailor, poked her head out the doorway to the hall. “I was just finishing up some measurements…what do you think of this? Some noble sent it. He’s been bombarding Calytrix with gifts and letters the past few days, we’ve been stuffing them into the corners at this point.” Rama grimaced, a nagging heat filling his chest as he glared at the scene. Sephtis popped past Eunome, carrying the asura’s tailor boxes. The grey sylvari smirked at Rama. “I think someone should step it into gear, before all these suitors wear her down.” Eunome coughed harshly at Sephtis’ words as she dragged her case towards the door, before suddenly stopping by Rama. “Just a small word of advice…she likes honeysuckle. And pearls.” ‘And lilies!” Sephtis called from outside. “Yes, those too!” The small asura then dodged out the front door, quickly closing it, and leaving Rama to process what they had just prompted him to do. Had it been so obvious all this time?
And so now, a week later, after much thought and inner turmoil over his fully realized feelings, Rama sat nervously in the club as Calytrix swayed upon the stage. Yao had helped him find a florist who could meet those arrangements, and now a small bouquet of honeysuckles and lilies delicately wrapped in a string of pearls sat on the seat next to him.
The music ended before he knew it, and Calytrix made her way off the stage to greet fans as Rama moved to wait by the door, clutching the flowers behind his back. She finally approached with a soft smile. “Thank you for waiting for me.” He nodded, and they moved outside into the night. He stopped as they were crossing a nearby bridge, the moon reflected onto the water as petals spiraled down from nearby trees. It was a beautiful and serene scene, but as Calytrix turned to question why he had stopped, he could not imagine anything more gorgeous than the sylvari who stood before him.
She tilted her head questioningly and moved back towards him. “Rama?” He gritted his teeth before speaking. “Calytrix,I…We’ve spent a lot of time together since you came here…whenever I see you, I feel like the stress of everything is just lifted off my shoulders. Your voice, your touch, they’re all incomparable gifts that I barely felt I have deserved. Before I realized it, you have become the most important person in my heart. I wanted to share that with you…and maybe share so much more together, if you’ll accept me...” He slowly held out the flowers, the moonlight glinting off the pearl strands as silence enveloped them.
Rama’s heart sank as Calytrix stared at the bouquet in his hands ,her eyes widening, as tears pricked at their edges. “What was I thinking? She must get this treatment from so many people, and is probably upset that I’ve turned out to be just like all the rest…” His hand dropped as he started to move the flowers away from her.
“I’m sorry Calytrix…I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. I know you’ve been dealing with that noble…I understand if you’d like to change your escort for your performances-“ Rama was beginning to panic.
“No, you don’t understand!” The words burst from Calytrix’s mouth, as she grabbed at the flowers, catching his hand with it. “I’m so happy..” Rama froze as Calytrix looked up into his face. ”I..I was soundless before! The guild helped me find my voice and my own sound. I’ve performed in front of so many, and met many who have professed their ‘love’ for me…But it’s not the same!” The sylvari songtress was blushing furiously, her glow bright across her cheeks. “There’s still so much I don’t know about the world, and myself… but the time we’ve spent together… when your eyes are on me, I feel like something worth seeing! No one has ever made me feel that way. I never imagined you’d really feel the same. Sharing my future with you…is the best dream I could be granted.”
A wave of relief washed over the both of them as Rama leaned down and pulled her in, and the pair shared their first kiss together on under a warm, summer moon.

🌲💫 for Calytrix!
@mystery-salad
🌲 How deeply does your OC feel? Are they typically empathetic or do they have a hard time connecting with others in this way? What are they like when offering support and comfort to someone they care for?
Calytrix is extremely empathetic and understanding of others emotions. She loves performing as a way to connect with the audience. When comforting or supporting someone she will often get them clean, comfy and will stroke their hair while singing a lullaby to soothe them. As Calytrix's magic is imbued into her voice, this can help soothe anxiety, help the target sleep and also have pleasant dreams. When Amalthea was going through the grief of losing her brother Kieran, she often stayed with Calytrix, who comforted her and kept her stable throughout the grieving process. The guild often requests Calytrix to sing as they gather around the fire, which soothes and brings morale to the members.
💫What is your favourite fact about this character and why?
Calytrix originally started off a soundless sylvari. Throughout her time with the guild she has grown to create her own sound as a performer and has connected with so many due to her own voice.
She also has the largest wardrobe among the members and Eunome is constantly making her new clothes lol
Here's one of my favorite pieces I've drawn of my Idol bby💜

have 🍄🍂🌳 for dietrich if you’d like! :D @kerra-and-company
Yesssss these are all so good thank you for the ask!!! 🥰🥰🥰
🍄 What are your OCs favourite snacks? Their favourite comfort food which always cheers them up when they’re down? Favourite meal to make? Do they enjoy baking and cooking and are they any good in the kitchen?
Dietrich loves spicy food and snacks! He really loves foods with chile, and since their excursion into Cantha,he stops at practically every noodle stall to try their spiciest noodle dish. He also has a bit of a sweet tooth and simply loves tea cakes. Nowin will often make a small batch just for him when baking rations for the guild. Dietrich actually loves being in the kitchen and is a pretty good cook. When he was taken in by Maltheal's family, he worked in the inns kitchen to earn his keep, and quickly became adept at making meals. He doesnt have an exact favorite dish to make as he prefers to constantly try new things and enjoys learning new recipes.
🍂 Does your OC enjoy hugs? What do they do as a show of affection for: their friends, their family, their significant other(s) or for strangers? Over all what are they like with recieving affection from others?
Dietrich does like hugs but will usually not be the one to initiate them. He will never turn down an excited hug from Eunome or Brom though. Around his guild members, who are like his family, he is much more open with touch. It is not unusual to find the scribes guild resting in more of a pile together than away from each other. To show affection he will cook them meals and often brings them little gifts that reminded him of them or that they mentioned they wanted. Sometimes these gifts are small trinkets, and sometimes they are much bigger and expensive (i.e. Eunome mentioned she would like to try a new fabric and several large crates of this exclusive fabric show up in her workshop a few days later..
There was also that time Ion and Dietrich brought Anastasia a bear cub)
Around friends, Dietrich likes to laugh and play around, but he is a bit more reserved. With a significant other, Dietrich loves to have some sort of touch. He would play with their hair, pull them aside to kiss them, and he's also the type to leave little love marks and bites in places only he can see. 👀
Dietrich can come off as a bit stand-offish at first but once he is comfortable he can be very open and affectionate.
🌳 What is your OC’s favourite way to relax after a stressful day? Do they have a favourite book to curl up with? A hobby? Or do they have a nice bubble bath and have an early night to bed?
When Dietrich needs to relax and unwind, he straight up takes his griffin and disappears. You can usually find him resting against his mount on some scenic overlook, a place that he finds beautifully and comforting in nature. He has always loved the bamboo alcove in the Grove, the crumbling walls of Ascalon at dusk, and the towering golden walls and greenery or Tarir.
