I think the reason why I find Scout ships so appealing is that no matter who you pair him up with (romantic or platonically), they indulge him with their time.

It’s the patience they seem to have for him, listening to his rambles that are often overlooked or deemed annoying but they decided to actually try and understand him.

There’s just something so special to me about enjoying the company of someone who wants to hear what you have to say, who gives you their time willingly and in abundance.

The TF2 fandom and the shipps on it (rant)

Every fandom has shipps, and TF2 isn't any different, but I've been seeing a major problem here that have been bothering me for a while

People often do not respect other shipps except the ones they shipp it, and that bothers me alot

RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE SHIPPS. ISN'T THAT SIMPLE?!

For example, sniperspy, that's one of the most popular shipps on the fandom, and I really, REALLY don't like it, I prefer 100x sniperscout, I love it! But that's not excuse for me to hate on people who shipp it! I only scroll and it's over, life goes on

Tbh I feel like sniperspy shippers have smth against sniperscout shippers and I really don't understand why, they say it's bcs they don't have chemestry but I clearly see on some official SFMs that scout and sniper are friends, best friends, unlike spy and sniper that they don't like eachother, but who am I to say anything, shipp whatever you want, I won't hate on you

Anyways- back on the topic, everyone shipps smth here, and if you don't shipp nothing, at least RESPECT! I've seen some people who don't shipp the characters hate on people who do and said that they are "ruining the fandom" (my brother, heavymedic has been a thing since the game came out)

I guess tiktok has the worst situation abt this problem, there people hate wayy too much on others simply bcs they shipp smth that they doesn't like, CHILL and scroll if you don't like it, don't hate on the person who made the video

Also, major of the experiences I'm listing here happened where? On tiktok ofc!

Remembering that this is only the minority of the fandom, that most of the minority is placed on tiktok and are teenagers like me, plus I haven't exprerienced anything like this on tumblr, my major critizism is for tiktok part of the fandom

1. Favorite character?

Oh, gosh... I love them all, especially Sniper, Spy, and Medic, but I will have to go with Sniper. Stinky bushman who is a professional assassin for a living and isolates himself in a van in his offtime? Yep, that’s him. For some inexplicable reason I just love him so much, from that terribly difficult to draw hat to the way he mutters to himself when doing his job, he is such an amazing character.

2. Least favorite character

Oh, yikes, that is a hard one- I equally love all nine of these idiotic mercenaries and most of their employers.

The one character that I think I would express true dislike to, however, is probably C!Heavy.

I just don’t like his attitude towards the situation, and his desire to gain power and control(?) over everything (such as the life extending machines). How he rose up in Gray Mann’s place so quickly is just something I disliked about him. (Also, HE KILLED SNIPER, which is NOT OKAY)

3. 5 favorite ships (canon or non-canon)

Heavy/Medic, Sniper/Spy, Soldier/Zhanna, Engineer/Pyro And Maybe Soldier/Demo HANDS DOWN.

These are ALL of my favorite couples, and I will not hesitate to defend my choices >:3

4. Character I find most attractive

So there’s this one mysterious masked snarky Frenchman...

5. Character I would marry

Oh gosh, it’s GOTTA be Engineer. I know I said Sniper was my favorite character and Spy was the most attractive, but like.. Engineer has really good qualities that would be great in a marriage. He seems understanding and even-tempered, and very smart. Also, he looks like he’d be able to cook some damn good breakfast, don’t ask me why.

6. Character I would be best friends with

Honestly? Probably Scout. I’m a better listener than I am a talker, and I wouldn’t mind having a whole bunch of information dumped on me. He looks like he’d be willing to have fun, doing stupid things that I wouldn’t usually do.

For a similar reason to the second one, I also think Demo. He also looks like he’d be willing to have some damn good fun.

7. A random thought

As an added bonus, when prompted, my younger sister just simply said ‘Scout’. Nothing else came after that, just ‘Scout’. I appreciate that.

8. Unpopular opinion:

Medic does have a pretty big heart underneath all the seemingly insane stuff. (Possibly one or more hearts, in fact, and not all of them may be human)

9. Canon OTP

Since we STILL do not have the 7th comic, I currently only have one canon OTP and that is Soldier/Zhanna.

10. Non-Canon OTP

It’s either Sniperspy or Heavymedic. I can’t choose just one.

11. Most badass character

I had to think a lot about this, but in the end, it came to Miss Pauling, hands down. If I were in her shoes, I would be scared to absolute death, but she is able to give threatening speeches to dying men and fight off an army of robots alongside those under her employment. I think that’s pretty cool.

12. Most Epic Villain

Charles Darling isn’t really much of a villain (yet?), but he definitely seems to act like one, holding a regal stance and a sly look when he’s getting exactly what he wants. Like a super villain, except one who doesn’t wreck havoc, just keeps a whole bunch of animals in a room.

HOWEVER, if the Administrator turns out to be some type of villain (I’m not exactly sure yet) then she’d make the top of the list, for obvious reasons.

13. Pairing I am not a fan of.

Anything in which Scout is shipped with a merc other than Sniper. They’re all so much older than him, I don’t really like it. ESPECIALLY but not limited to Scoutspy, because that is incest. (Unless, of course, you make an AU or an OC that puts them as not father and son but similar ages. But still, I don’t know if I’d be able to read a story without wondering about the canon stuff.)

14. Character that I feel like the writers screwed up (in one way or another)

I don’t really think the writers screwed any characters up much. They somehow found a way to fit every single character to be a large part of the story, and I find that really awesome.

However, there are a few flaws with various characters. The one I’m choosing to talk about is probably C!Heavy.

C!Heavy is revealed to be the true villain in the operation that Gray Mann set up after he kills him and takes his life extending machine away. But, other than living forever, he seems to have no other motive (that I can see). Extending one’s life seems like a fickle thing for a villain to want, especially if they have no visible reason for it.

15. Favorite Friendship

DEFINITELY Demoman and Soldier. They seem like they would be such a chaotic pair and I love it.

16. Character I most identify with

Ooh, that’s a tough one.

Though, if I was FORCED to choose, I would choose Miss Pauling, for reasons unknown. I have nowhere NEAR the badass level she has, but it just seems right for some reason.

Weird explanation, I know.

17. Character I wish I could be

Also Miss Pauling. She’s just so frickin’ badass, I honestly wish I could be like her.
