this is a cold message, but only because i too have been thinking about the ruby as the doctor and river's child idea. i have been reading the day of the doctor novelization... and the person who asks the doctor if he remembers the children who died is river. she made sure to wipe his memory. what if he agreed so he wouldn't look at their child with pain? and also, river wanting children is a cannon event in a story called "the picnic at asgard" and the novelization brings that up... it feels very possible to me with the written river cannon. it would be so heartbreaking if ruby was in danger and had to be left behind because the doctor has seen how much ruby being adopted made her mother/the world better. it's almost a fixed point now. god, it would be so sad. :(

the album is set up as the hero's journey. it's one journey - so i think the tonal consistency and blending is intentional.

i can see where she was going w it as an artistic choice but for me rn it just made the album feel a little boring to me at times 😭

I really do think about how 14 year old Taylor read Shakespeare as standard first year of high school requires reading for a lot of the country and said “Let me relate this to the crush my parents won’t let me date and write a ballad.” That’s such dramatic energy.I love it.

i think we all also have a strong connection to 1989 because it was one of the last true eras in a way. we lived with that album for a long time so it holds a lot of meaning.

yes this is so true! I know for me and probably a lot of others it was my first era as a swiftie and it was like such a defined specific era with the tour, all the music videos, the fashion, the secret sessions. like so many things that feel integral to taylor's career and to being a swiftie happened during that time and with that album 🥹
