The Plushū Diaries

This is a long post about the plushie I made as a beginner and just me venting about the process. Just skip this is you don't like long posts. Also I will probably mix up UK and US English a lot here. The usual Internet learning experience.

Canto 1- I can (not) make a plushie myself

So... As you may gather from the existence of this blog, I love Ryōshū a very normal amount. And like many other PM fans, I wanted a plushie of my best girl.

Two problems arise.

Independently made plushies made by commission are EXPENSIVE (For a very valid reason, this things take AGES to make and require a lot of work and skill.).

And

All the "Mass" produced ones by indie designers that I saw had animal ears or features, which I don't really like.

So, Sunday at around 10:00 pm, I, in all my wisdom, say to myself "I want it! So I'll make it!" I already had some material from a previous failed attempt, so might as well use them.

I dug up the doll skeleton and the body I had and stuffed that thing. By then it was already late and I had to work on Monday so, to bed I went.

Canto 2- The Real Start

By morning on the following day, I had already gotten over the Idea of making a plushie myself. Too much work. Too little skill. Like any other good little ADHD demon, I am allergic to completing my own projects and I jump from new idea to new idea too quickly to get anything done.

So, imagine my shock when at 11:00 pm I get that little itch to just make the thing. That little night owl brain magic that happens when everyone else is asleep and you are just now deciding to be productive.

So I grab the body, my embroidery thread and a bathtub of coffee and I just started.

Luckily I already had a pattern that a friend printed out for me two years ago. But then, the mistakes also started.

Mistake 1- Improv

I had no idea what I wanted to make. I had a design that I had painted In photoshop before but I didn't have that materials nor skills for that. So I made a simpler one on the spot. I don't own a printer. I don't have transfer paper. So... like a person with a very aesthetically pleasing smooth brain, I just drew the design STRAIGHT ON THE FABRIC with BRIGHT red pen.

Mistake 2 - The bright red pen

At the start it wasn't much of an issue just something to mark the design because I don't have a tearaway stabilizer.

By the end of this saga, those smooth clear lines had bled SO MUCH I could no longer tell the difference between te guide and random stains. Oh! And you can also see the guidelines from the outside of the doll. Cool.

Mistake, the third - The felt hair

This doesn't seem like a mistake, but trust me, It will haunt the narrative.

Mistake forever after - Hubris

It took... around 1 hour to line up everything correctly on the embroidery ring? Why? Because I am stupid, that's why.

During this first day I decided that I didn't need to use pins. I could just put it on the ring by eyeballing it. How bad can it be?

I was a fool. There's a reason why professionals use them, and there's a reason why some people sew some pieces temporarily during certain steps of the process before finally attaching them together. Pins truly are unsung heroes.

Canto 3- The unembroidered

So... embroidery. Embroidery is hard. Symmetrical embroidery is hard. Symmetrical embroidery with bleeding guidelines and no stabilizer is HARD. Symmetrical embroidery with bleeding guidelines, no stabilizer and you are a total beginner is maddening.

I watched someone do it by hand on YouTube before and I tried to mimic the process as much as I could. It didn't help much. Youtube tutorials can only do so much to compensate my lack of experience.

By the time I had done one eye I was already seeing problems. My stitches were all scattered to the four winds. They were all going in different directions. Some of them were too far apart or too close to others. The lines in the back of the doll were piling up and there were more knots in the thread than in your average omegaverse fic.

I went colour by colour. First black since I needed it to line the hair and it was the most used colour, then white just for the little highlights and finally red.

(Funny thing, the number of this red thread of this brand is 666 wich is kinda funny for miss hellscreen over here.)

After the red thread it finally started to look kinda decent (by beginner standards)

Canto 4 - Revenge of the felt hair

After all the embroidery was done it was finally time to get her off the ring and sew the parts together.

For those unaware, the regular soft plushie material, Minky, is really lightweight and very thin. Felt... isn't thin. And when you are sewing a plushie head with may parts and layers, all those millimeters of fabric pile up really quickly. One layer of felt is easy to pierce with a needle. Five layers? Not so much. Several needles were broken in the process of joining the front of the head with the back. I do not own a sewing machine. I did all of this shit by hand.

Thank god for the tetanus vaccine. When I say this little creature has my blood, sweat and tears, I MEAN IT.

The curse of the felt hair didn't end there.

Now that the head was done, it was time to stuff it.

Naturally, I had to rip parts of the stuffing to get it inside the head and around the skeleton. This sent bits and pieces of the thing flying everywhere. My room is FILTHY. And the felt hair got the worst of it. All those little dusts and microfibers stuck to it like a fly in a web. As I write this I am still trying to rip out bits of stuffing without damaging the felt. It is horrible. My girl is DIRTY.

(Also, plushie heads take WAY more stuffing than I thought. Holy shit.)

Finally, on the last day, it was time to attach the body to the head and sew the back of the hair. (I should have done that before but... more layers of felt. Broken needles. You know... nheeeeeee)

So, with a lot of fear in my heart I ladder stitched those bastards together and mocked up a decent enough pattern for the back of the hair. And just like that.... she is done.

Canto 5- The Plushie Defining

So... what did I learn?

Use pins. Stitch things temporarily with an obvious visible line that you can cut out after and test things before committing to a permanent stitch. If you are a beginner, like me, and are afraid to sew pieces together because you don't want to ruin your embroidered parts that you spent SO LONG working on, do this before.

Fuck felt.

Don't use a bright red pen.

Mess up. Make your plushie. Make it ugly. If you hate making bodies like me, buy one made and practice the head. Despite everything, I love my asymmetrical girl a lot. Like... I made this little bastard. She is MINE and I made her. This never stops being magical. It's a nice feeling.

And I did it without specific materials.

Some cheap threads, a body you can probably make too, some felt I found at the discount bin and random needles. That was all. No tearaway stabilizer, no sewing machine, no printer, no embroidery machine. The minky fabric is the only thing that was more of an investment. The rest is pretty accessible.

Do you know that post that says "Everything worth doing is worth doing poorly." Yeah, that applies to artistic projects. Go for it! Just... don't start with something hard like a human... Christ sake that was a nightmare.

I'm probably still gonna get a better plushie of her in the future, but for now, this is my baby.

Progression in modelling and texturing

Beginning Texturing and Modelling

Ever since I started using Blender back in 2021 I have always had a vision on what I want my models and textures to look like, at the start I created very low poly models that didn't look too good on there own but I created texture sheets in Photoshop that roughly covered each UV. The textures I made in photoshop were very basic and flat, I was trying to make the set look cartoonish but my lack of knowledge at the time caused my textures to look stretched, I also didn't know much about Blender's texture nodes and so left all the textures with specular light reflections which is painfully obvious when looking at any renders of the set...

Advancing knowledge

My goal is to make a show featuring the two characters pictured above, going in to Blender I thought making a good looking model with high quality textures would be easy but two years later I am still developing my skills and experimenting with different styles as there is a line between what is good enough in quality and good enough for what you have visioned, choosing a style is not easy when your mind is constantly changing and new and trendy styles are being introduced. Once I started to get a better grip on Blender I decided to remake my set and characters to better suit my progression, I also made a poor decision when I chose to keep the low poly style as I thought it looked unique, I was right as it did look interesting but only really works if its being used in a game.

Creation of the second set 01:

When making the walls for this set I first learned about the Bump node which calculates light hitting the textures differently to give the illusion that the wall has depth even if its a simple cuboid with only four vertices.

This video does a good job of explaining the basic steps to making a bump texture for users only just starting Blender, whenever I found I needed to learn something I would find a video like this and save it to my watch later list so I could easily find them and watch them back. The bump node can make textures look very realistic without having the scene take up a lot of data which is useful for making models in games that require low usage to run well.

at this stage I was familiar with blenders user interface and was beginning to make my set look neat with organised UV's, I also made a new style choice by using Back-Face Culling to give my models a black outline like a cartoon character which I really liked, back-face culling is where a texture can only be seen from one side as the other side is out of view to the viewer. The outlines didn't really work on this model as the low poly design causes deformation issues.

This video explains how to create a cartoon outline for a model, the problem with this method is that it requires the mesh of the model to be duplicated which depending on how many vertices the model has could be a problem for data usage.

This was the final design of my second set, to some people it could be seen as finished and I could have started my show, unfortunately though I was not happy with this design by the time I finished it due to my interests shifting away from the low poly style and flat texturing making it hard to want to continue with the show in its current form. the only solution was to try again and experiment with other styles.

Procedural texturing

Blender has the capabilities to create textures in software without the use of texture files and UV mapping, to a beginner this sounds like a perfect way to make your models and sets more interesting.

This tutorial shows how procedural textures work inside Blender, it can be a somewhat long and tedious task to create a good looking texture but if it saves having to UV map an object it could be worth it.

Using procedural materials I was able to make my new set look a lot more detailed then the previous one, especially with the models being more high poly. Something about procedural textures is very out of place and noticeable which is not what I was looking for.

after a little more development the set gained more props and models with procedural textures, after seeing the final result I knew a more realistic style without using procedural materials was the best course of action. My modelling skills are good due to how many models I have been making but my texturing skills were lacking as I had only created basic flat and procedural textures, to find a solution to this problem I looked into different methods of texturing including hand drawing which I found to be difficult and time consuming. eventually I found out about substance painter and its layered texturing abilities and so I decided to look into it over the summer break.

Progress Reflection - 1/30/23

Within the past week I've began my first steps towards developing my capstone project. To help bring clarity to what milestones I should be hitting to reach my finished project we were tasked to create a workback plan, the main essentials I've identified is writing out the information and creating a style guide for my website, as well as producing content to post onto my Instagram.

Already I've created the account I'll be posting on my Instagram, I've created a icon to give a face to the account and plan on linking my projects website onto the description as well. I'll also work on creating graphics to have a pinned story to my profile to explain the experiment and purpose of the account-- testing out various suggested techniques online on how to create and post content on Instagram.

As I'm starting to draw and create content as well, I have certain techniques for creating content in mind. As I work on more and more pieces I'll have to save a few to actually record my progress which could be in stages from sketch, to line art, to finished piece. Alternatively, I could record small chunks of me focusing on specific details such as detailing hair or folds on clothes. These would all be ideas for eventual Instagram Reel posts.

As for the website, I'm still looking into the various options I have for a website builder that will give me creative freedom of building my site as I lack coding skills to create a website from scratch. At this moment it seems like Wix will be my most likely pick due to the available features to edit a website as well as the available free templates to use as a starting point. But in order to stay productive in the production of the website, I've created a Photoshop document to build a style guide to keep the overall look for the website cohesive.

The palette I picked out at this moment most likely will change over time as I start building the website and including visual media pieces, as there should still be some harmony between the overall sites palette and the visual media I'll be using. But I'll still have this document to reference back to and edit to keep my visual direction clear for the websites development.

Entry 1: About Me Page

My name is Theo Athans, currently studying in the final year of my Bachelor of Sports Media degree. I have always had a huge interest in multiple sports, in particular Soccer, Footy and Tennis however I follow too many sports to count. This interest in sport has come through starting to play Footy and cricket at the age of 9 and continuing all the way through until just recently when I stopped playing more so to focus on studies and part-time work. My dad has always been huge into sport, inspired me to play and has coached me on multiple occasions.

I always knew I wanted to be involved in sports media and straight out of high school, I was accepted into Bachelor of Media and Comms at Swinburne but quickly realised I wanted to do a course that was solely sports related and came across this one through a friend. My career objective is to be involved in journalism in Soccer or Tennis whether that is for a media organisation, a league or a club.

There have been some work-related experienced through the studies here at Holmesglen that have prepared me for the internship and potentially the workplace past that. In groups, we completed a full scale sponsorship package for Waverley Blues Football Netball Club and a Social Media Marketing proposal for Mulgrave Cricket Club. Individually I also did Journalism work such as Media releases, match reports, interviews and a feature article for Springvale Lions Baseball club to improve their club website's content. I have had minimal industry experience, working at Bentleigh Greens for a 3-month period in late 2019 before Covid halted the NPL for a while. This experience was very similar to the Springvale Lions one with the journalistic work, but I also learnt photoshop and design skills from the previous media manager to upload score and man of the match graphics onto the clubs Instagram page.

For my studies, I have managed to pass every subject relatively comfortably without having any standout marks which I can pinpoint as my main issue. My scores for last semester in 2022 are below. Clearly there are big signs of improvement, mainly in the areas of laziness and work ethic. Whether its lack of motivation or procrastinating in my free time, a lot of the assignments done, especially group ones, were done at the last minute. In sports sponsorship our group received a poor final assignment score and Dane made sure to let us know it was unacceptable and rushed. With 2023 being my final year, I am making sure it’s not too late to start working hard now and improve my grades.

In terms of the internship, my aspirations are to join Tennis Victoria or Fox Footy but in general it’s just to gain industry experience in many different aspects of the sports media landscape, which is something I currently lack.

Andrew S Gray Is a photographer who has really inspired my work, not only visually, but the meanings behind my photos, and the emotional effects I want my photos to have on the viewer have been heavily influenced by Gray. To me, Gray's work is very calming and ethereal, but also bright and energetic, and this is what I have wanted to capture in my photos In my A-Level projects, and in my personal photography. I have also learnt some techniques and skills from studying him and his work, such as layering images and changing layer modes in photoshop to create my desired effect. Another inspiration of mine is Jan Leonardo. His work with the painting with light style of Photography is something that I would love to be able to do to his level. As you can see above, I have tried to create my own photos with light, and I am really happy with how they came out, however, There is a lot of room for improvement, and I constantly try to recreate and learn from Jan Leonardo's work. The main areas of Photography that really call out to me are; abstraction, macro-Photography, and Photography which the viewers can connect with on an emotional and personal level. Before going out for a photo shoot I always ask myself these key questions;

Abstract photography is a style of photography that allows the Photographer to blur the boundaries between the photographic representation of reality and creative interpretation. This style of Photography focuses on the visual elements of an image, such as colour, form, line, and texture. The result of this is images that are often surreal, dream-like, and open to many different interpretations.

One of the key features of abstract Photography is its emphasis on subjective interpretation. The viewer gets to form their own opinions about an image, rather than the viewer only seeing what the Photographer wanted them to see. This creates a unique, personal and meaningful  connection between the viewer and the image.

There are several techniques that can be used in creating abstract photographs, some of these techniques include; using filters, lenses, manipulating light and colour, and using digital tools in post processing. Photographers may also choose to take multiple images and layer them together to create an ethereal effect, a photographer who does this frequently is Andrew Gray to create ethereal, otherworldly landscapes. Some Photographers may also use techniques like double exposure to combine multiple images into one. 

One of the most interesting aspects of abstract photography is how it can make people question their understanding of the world around us and it can encourage them to look at things from a different perspective. 

However, to some people abstract Photography may not be as effective, as some people may find it difficult to understand or appreciate. This could be down to lack of knowledge or experience with abstraction, or it could just be due to personal preference. That being said, abstract Photography continues to be a vibrant and ever growing area of Photography, as more and more photographers experiment with the never ending possibilities of this artistic form of expression. 

In conclusion, abstract Photography is a fascinating and challenging style of Photography that pushes the boundaries of Photography in ways that traditional Photography can not, by focusing on subjective interpretation, and challenging people's perceptions of reality and presenting the world in a new way. Abstract Photography has the power to inspire people emotionally, intellectually and philosophically in a personal and meaningful way.

Final Evaluation: FAS3001

I am surprisingly pleased with my outcomes from this module considering that I normally don't like working with computers. In general, I avoid computers as I tend to work more effectively on paper. I am autistic and struggle with processing issues, and computers magnify this; I tend to take much longer than the average person when working on a computer.

Evidently, working with a pen and paper was not an option for this module. I initially struggled, but managed to still produce an outcome that I am proud of. This module has stretched my skills and abilities to the next level in terms of design. I have learnt new skills and processes in an unfamiliar area, which I will be able to carry forward.

At the beginning of the project I browsed through the list of Womenswear, Menswear and Interiors trends from WGSN and selected my favourite. The brief was to use Photoshop and InDesign to make a lookbook of your chosen trend, which would explain its narrative and meaning to the reader/viewer. After lots of chopping and changing and careful consideration, I selected the "Exuberant Minimalism" trend. Through extensive research I was able to truly understand this trend and the sentiment behind it.

I started my research process by making Pinterest boards for inspiration, looking at graphic design magazines and reading articles from WGSN. Not only did I look into the trend itself, but also contextual information on subjects such as the environment and sustainability. The presentations were also contributing factors to my research process as they guided me to research relevant topics which I had not previously thought of. This made my knowledge of the trend more varied.

A topic which was raised in a presentation was typography; I'd not paid very much attention to the features of each font and how they looked on the page. After this presentation and some extra research, I was led to change the fonts on my pages, further improving the quality of my work.

Out of all my pages, my colour palette is my favourite by far, specifically the mural which showcases my trend's vibrant colour palette.

To make this colour palette page, first I made a series of custom shapes which come together to create a mural showing my colour palette. I also added a border around the mural as I think this helps it look crisp and dynamic on the page. Next, I cut out some items of furniture such as tiles, a chair and some lamps. I also adjusted the lamp's wires to make some of them shorter and some of them longer. This added dimension to the page, and also character which would've been lost had I just lined them up straight - this definitely worked better with the theme. I also added some teal-coloured lines/shapes under this collage so it would have better contrast against the background.

I think the mural paired with the collage on the left hand side page creates a stunning composition which makes effective use of negative space, further emphasising the key statement pieces. It is for this reason that this page is my favourite.

My least favourite page is probably the narrative page. I could've improved the shading/shadows on the triangle mural to make it look more realistic. Although I like the composition and layout of the room is nice, it may have benefitted from some fine-tuning of details, such as how the sofa is cut out. Another small detail which comes to mind is the shelving; I used the perspective tool to make this fit the space, however it is slightly off, if I had had more time to adjust it, I would have been able to produce a more detailed and technically accurate outcome. On the plus side though, I think the room utilises negative space well, and fully represents the key features of the trend.

Something I realised my pieces were lacking in throughout this project is greenery; greenery is powerful. It creates a naturalistic ambiance which is hard to top, and on top of this, greenery makes for incredibly versatile decor. It will fit in and amalgamate itself with any room it is placed in. Plant pots would've been a really cool element to add to my work too, perhaps I could've found some modular ones which would gel the room altogether.

Bad news for players wanting to pair up with a buddy on the couch, but still impressive that the entire game can be played via online co-op nonetheless. Unfortunately, this only applies to online cooperative play, with no option for local splitscreen multiplayer currently. Previous Far Cry Games have often had an emphasis on cooperative play, dedicating entirely new missions and modes to it, and Far Cry 5 is no different.Whereas previous titles have featured a separate mode for cooperative multiplayer, it’s possible to complete the entirety of Far Cry 5’s campaign with a friend. There’s an updated recruiting system, a hefty map editor, and stunt missions to contend with thus time around.

Whatsoever.So in the grand scheme of things, Far Cry 5 could have done a lot worse with regards to cooperative multiplayer options. Entry 2

At this stage, I am not sure if I am ready for an internship. I do however, believe that this subject will help me feel ready when internships come around. I’m looking forward to hearing from the year above me and all their stories from their internships. 

Here are what I would currently class as my skills. First of all, I am a curious person and I think this will put me in stead for my internship. I am not afraid to ask questions when I’m slightly confused or when I don’t understand something. I also believe I have good interview skills which have been developed through assessments and my work with my football club. I’ve had plenty of practice interviewing and I have the ability to recognise good quotes immediately. I think this transitions well into my writing skills as I have a set way I source quotes from my own interviews and for essays, reports and feature articles. I also have a basic level of experience filming sports content which I’ve only done on my phone. I have the skills necessary to edit audio content and its something I enjoy quite a bit. I also have experience editing video content however, I am new to Adobe Premier Pro and my skills on there are developing. I have also had a little bit of experience creating a social media plan for VAFA club Caulfield Grammarians. I am in no way an expert at anything but that is how I like it. I don’t want to be stuck doing one particular thing, I want to be doing a multitude of tasks. 

I am definitely lacking in terms of skills on photoshop, that is the biggest thing I want to improve on before starting my internship. Creating graphics is likely to be part of the roles I am after so I need to develop those skills as soon as possible. I also need to continue getting familiar with Premier Pro. The more experience I have using it, the better as its likely I’ll be using a lot in the roles I want as well. As I mentioned, I’m not an expert at anything so its in my best interests to continue gaining experience and developing skills across the board whether that be writing, making graphics or creating content. I am also a shy person so it may help for me to try and be more confident in the workplace. 

Getting your resume right is extremely important. Burns et al. (2014) describe how “the initial impression that a resume makes is crucial because it is generally the first communication between an applicant and a prospective employer” (p. 574). I currently do not have a resume so I will need to take care when I do create one in order for it to create a good first impression of me. I also haven’t made a cover letter before so learning about it in class is going to be valuable for me.

Oh, ma Gooosh!! This is the first Matcha Tea I've gotten, and I'm all for this. I had so much fun with this one, and I want to show you lil' sugar cubes the difference between characters I know and the ones that I don't. I do my research before writing a character that I'm unfamiliar with, but I will be sincere: I butchered the last request (Shalnark's). I will try to rewrite it, but other characters apart from the stated ones are a bit hard for me ( ˘︹˘ ).

“What a shameless potato,” nimble fingers scrolled down on their phone, looking at the menagerie of pictures from one single account: yours.

You and Vil were from the same industry, just not the same department per se. While he was a model and actor, you were a j pop star and actress. Your popularity and his were on the same level, but he was slightly higher if you asked him or his fans. Ever since the two of you met on set for a fantasy-like movie, you repelled each other’s presence like oil and water.

Amethyst eyes glared at your smiling picture, and a thousand critiques passed through his mind. Your make-up did not complement your features; what was your make-up artist thinking? That nail polish didn’t match with your skin, and your haircut didn’t go with your face and countless other thoughts. But that wasn’t his place to tell, and besides, you living in his head rent-free wasn’t good for his skin. Stress kills, and thinking about you was very stressful.

The subway doors opened, and Vil gripped his side bag, adjusting his beret and sunglasses and walking out with the amount of confidence and power it took to walk down the runway. The sea of people diligently coming and going parted for him without a cue. They just did like mindless fish around a predator. It was in their nature to give in, in the presence of something so regal.

Vil had a photoshoot to go, and he couldn’t miss a beat. His agenda was full and complicated; anyone who tried to follow it would surely lose their minds after the first three days of the same arduous pace. But he could handle it with the grace of a swan. He was the great Vil Shoenheit. He wondered if you could handle a week in his shoes. You probably would drop exhausted and disheveled, complaining about the hard work. The thought made him smirk smugly, and passerby fans who recognized him couldn’t even keep up to ask for an autograph.

He just couldn’t fathom how you had such a fan base with your attitude and manners. Sure, in front of the cameras, you were a sweetheart, stealing everyone’s hearts, singing like an empowered angel, and making them think you were as far from the villain he knew you truly were. Vil knew your kind and recognized it the moment he met you on set. Heck, you couldn’t even contain your disdain in interviews when the two of you had to sit side by side. It was uncomfortable, to say the least; the poor reporter was so painfully awkward trying to alleviate the tenseness in the room.

“So (Y/N), how do you feel being an actress in a big-budget movie while also singing and performing the next week? Is it exhausting?”

You sided glared at Vil, and gave the reporter a smug grin. “Well, I think I can handle a little bit of work. It’s not in me to sit around and look pretty, you know. But then again, I guess that’s what some people are into, so we can’t judge them. They might not understand hard work.”

Vil smiled with closed eyes. You were such an amateur. If it weren’t for the fact that you were actively throwing shade on him and being so annoying at it, too, he might think you were cute.

Of course, Vil wouldn’t back down; that’s not what he was taught. The crown was his, and he would take it with hard work and determination. Which means potatoes like you don’t really matter in the long run of things.

“Vil-senpai, how do you manage your modeling gig and your acting? I mean, it must be hard to run from one event to the next since they’re so close behind each other?”

“Well, dear, we models are more than just a pretty face. We represent big companies and events that many couldn’t even fathom getting into. My schedule might be a bit tight, but I was born into this lifestyle, and I have learned many skills to help me move and work in these types of environments. I can say one thing for sure not a lot of people can handle my agenda, one day in my heels, and they might slip if you know what I mean, darling.”

You scoffed under your breath, and it made Vil’s smile grow wider.

“Ahh, Vil-senpai is a hard worker for sure. Perhaps one day I could do an interview that can provide insight to one day of your agenda.”

“Anytime you want, darling, it would be lovely,” he knew with every word that came out of his mouth; you simmered even more.

“Are there any hobbies or activities that can fit into your schedules?

Vil was about to open his mouth when you beat him to it.

“Well, I don’t think he’s allowed to have any, you know, with his busy schedule. But I do love partaking in (hobby). I think it is a nice way to unwind and take my mind off of everything. Since stress it’s not good for your vocals, you know. I try to keep myself in top shape for my lovely fans.”

Vil was raging. How dare you interrupt him when he was clearly about to talk. Didn’t your parent taught you any manners, or are you so much of a spoiled brat to care for?

“Ahh, interesting. Does Vil Sendai have any hobbies in particular?

“As a matter of fact, I do” you were looking at him with an expectant smirk. You were genuinely curious to hear what he had to say. “I like to make beauty and make-up tutorials that are beneficial for a lot of my fans. I like to show them how to use brushes correctly what and what not to do with concealer. Those are bonding moments for me and my fans. I think they are important.”

At the end of that interview, a single question brought the anger and tense meter to burst. Now the tensions and dislikes weren’t palpable. They were visible.

“Oh, I’ve had some partners, but I like to focus more on my work, unlike some other artists who like to jump around; my projects come first, and I don’t want to ruin my partner’s and I relationship by not spending enough time with them.”

“Wow, he really doesn’t like to have fun.”

“I do just not with the likes of you.”

“Come on, pretty boy, you couldn’t handle me even if you were begging pretty on your knees.”

“Dream on, potato, you might be prettier than most potatoes, but you’re still that a potato with some potential. I bet if push came to shove, you wouldn’t last seconds with me.

“I bet you wouldn’t make it into the second round without having to retouch your make-up with me. Besides, it’s not like you’ll last long enough to even sweat that much.”

“Well, that’s a relief to know I wouldn’t have to put much effort into pleasing someone like you.”

The reporter was utterly flushed, and that was cut from the interview recording. Good thing that it was, or people might’ve gotten the wrong impression. That you liked each other or something.

Or something.

After that interview, rumors spread like they always do, and fans started gossiping about the two of you secretly together but having to hate each other in public to save face since it’s a big rumor that singers and models don’t actually go well together in the industry.

Such wild imagination and machinations fans have. It brought out a small chuckle.

Vil passed through the automatic doors telling the receptionist his name and guiding him to the set. Once there, he settled his stuff over the make-up table and sat back to look once more through his phone.

“Have you seen this?” A text notification annoying appeared on the screen.

Vil tch and opened the message to reveal a very well photoshopped photo of him and you sitting and drinking at some café. You were smiling like he just told you you were beautiful, and it was a good look on you.

This was outrageous. Who would go to such lengths? Suddenly a bag dropped right on the table next to him. He looked up to meet your eyes as you took off your sunglasses, slowly realizing who was sitting beside you.

“Oh no,” you faintly muttered underneath your breath but not faintly enough that Vil couldn’t hear you.

He scoffed and went back to look at the stupid picture, texting his manager as mad as he was.

“Oh, you saw it too,” you commented, sitting down and looking at your own phone.

Vil didn’t answer. He really didn’t care about your opinion on this; his credibility was on the line. He was supposed to hate you, and that’s how things should go.

“Well, at least they got a good angle of my face, not to mention I’m actually smiling for once.”

“Actually, smil- what are you talking about potato? All you do is smile in all of your pictures. That’s why you have to hide your wrinkles with make-up,” he said as if it was the most obvious thing.

“Well, as presumptuous as that was, proud little peacock, I actually never smile genuinely for the cameras. My genuine smile is reserved for good moments. I guess not anymore.”

At that, Vil felt like the two of you clicked. He knew the feeling, the invasive nature of fame, and the lack of privacy was very real in the industry. It’s the first thing you have to get through. But listening to you say made him realize you’re just like him.

“Well, if you behave during the shoot, I might feel inclined to reward you for good behavior” he grinned at you.

“Mmm, you make it sound as if you don’t like the way I make you crumble in front of everyone. It’s like you’re denying yourself the pleasure, and here I thought you liked the masochism.”

“Hahahaha, I’ll step on you once we’re done here. Maybe that and a little bit of discipline will put you in your place. However, your lack of manners and running mouth might be a problem; perhaps all you need is a nice pacifier. I can help with that.”

You both were so close to each other muttering salacious threats that you didn’t realize how flustered everyone else was in the room.

It was going to be another one of those shoots.
