55 years ago today, January 4, 1969, the final new episode of Wacky Races aired. It is an American animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions for Saturday mornings. The series features 11 different cars racing against each other in various road rallies throughout North America, with all of the drivers hoping to win the title of the "World's Wackiest Racer". The show was inspired by the 1965 comedy film The Great Race.
The cartoon had many regular characters, with 23 people and animals spread among the 11 race cars. Wacky Races ran Saturday mornings on CBS from September 14, 1968, to January 4, 1969, and in syndication from 1976 to 1982. Seventeen 20-minute episodes were produced, with each of them featuring two 10-minute segments.
The series spawned numerous spin-offs throughout the years featuring Dick Dastardly, the most similar in theme being "Fender Bender 500" in 1990.
In 2017, the series was remade as a reboot, airing on Boomerang. It aired only once on Cartoon Network on August 13, 2018.

Here's a little sneak peek at my next project, a light chaptered affair with a comedic tone similar to my ficlet A Weird Soup (aka no dignity left unimpinged). Working title The Unhinged AU, for reasons that will be explained later and also probably will be evident by the content 😂. It started as many of my projects have, as a plea to my friends for quick writing prompts that immediately took on a life of its own.
(shadowgast, excerpt ~500 words and rated G)
-
Essek’s fine shoes were not meant to be walked in for great distances, or at significant speed on anything but a red carpet or a smooth hardwood runway, but right now Essek was doing both.  Tap, tap, went his heels on the pavement as he went as fast as he could without actually running.  It was a “step aside, I’m on my way to a murder” kind of walk.  Essek found it very effective for parting crowds.
Unfortunately, Essek was not actually on his way to a murder.  He would have enjoyed that, perhaps, especially if the hypothetical victim — victims — were the gum-sucking, flash-mobbing, carrion-eating paparazzi that had somehow gotten wind of this intention to pick up lunch at Le Petit Veau.  He didn’t even like the food there.  He had just wanted a decent coff—
WHAM!
Essek’s unstoppable force abruptly met an immovable object, except it wasn’t immovable or nearly as poetic, because the ground was approaching fast and whoever he’d hit was going ass-over-teakettle over the decorative hedge bordering an outdoor seating area, shoes sweeping comically in the air.  Essek’s last thought as the shoes went by before he really got acquainted with physics on his side of the green divide was: hm, good leather, very worn, but cared for.
“Shit!”  Essek groaned and scrambled to his feet, his hip aching and hands stinging.  His smartphone screen was cracked.  He had half a mind to keep going — the harpies of discord were surely close behind him— except that if someone had gotten this on video, it would be hell for weeks.  Well.  More hell.  He could see the newsblog headlines now: Supermodel Essek Thelyss Puts Innocent Man In The Hospital, Flees Scene (On Foot - He’s Just Like Us!) See What He’s Wearing And Where To Buy It [Here].
Thank all the gods and all the demons too that there weren’t any patrons except a tiny old man who hadn’t even looked up from his newspaper, but Essek was still acutely aware of passers-by who had paused at the spectacle, and he hurried to assess any possible casualties.  “My apologies, are you alright?”
The immovable object of Essek’s demise turned out to be a tall, lanky man with ginger hair and a neatly trimmed beard, artful tattoo sleeves down to his wrists, and an apron that cheerfully announced him as an employee of The Sunrise Roast Café.  Good!  Essek could terrify him with the threat of a bad review if necessary.
“I think so,” the man said, getting to his feet and rubbing his tailbone.  His accent was Zemnian.  He was also much taller standing up.  “Ach.  Maybe a bruise.”  He looked Essek over once, quickly, and then again, more slowly.  Essek braced for the inevitable recognition, but there was no spark in the stranger’s gaze except for the kind of appreciation Essek found aimed his way all the time.  “Are you?  That was quite a fender-bender.  I’m sorry, I didn’t see you.”

Boca Raton Auto Accident Guide: Claim Your Rights
Whether it's a minor fender bender or a devastating fatal accident that unfolded on the roads of Boca Raton or West Palm Beach today, the impact of any car accident can be profound.
Understanding the gravity of every situation, our dedicated team stands ready to provide the support and guidance you need. No matter the extent of the accident, we are here, available to listen, advise, and assist you through this challenging time.
Your call is not just a request for help; it's the first step towards securing your rights and finding a path to recovery.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IMMEDIATELY AFTER A CAR ACCIDENT IN BOCA RATON?
IMMEDIATE STEPS AFTER AN ACCIDENT
Tumblr media
Ensure Safety: First, make sure everyone involved in the accident is safe. Move vehicles out of traffic if possible without compromising safety.
Call 911: Florida law requires you to report any car accident that results in injuries, death, or significant property damage to the police. When you call 911, they will dispatch local law enforcement and emergency medical services if needed. For accidents in Boca Raton, the responding agency will likely be the Boca Raton Police Department or the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, depending on the exact location of the accident.
REPORTING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT
Boca Raton Police Department (BRPD): If the accident occurs within Boca Raton city limits, BRPD will typically take the report. You can contact them directly for non-emergency situations at their non-emergency number 561-368-6201.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO): For accidents occurring in areas of Palm Beach County outside Boca Raton city limits, PBSO is the responsible agency. They also have a non-emergency contact number for reporting which is 561-688-3000.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR REPORTING
Florida Statutes Section 316.066: Florida law mandates that any crash resulting in vehicle damage of $500 or more, injuries, or death must be reported to the local police department, sheriff, or Florida Highway Patrol. This report is known as a Florida Traffic Crash Report and is filed by the officer who investigates the scene.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP): Florida is a no-fault state, requiring all drivers to carry PIP insurance. Reporting your accident promptly is crucial for PIP claims, which cover medical bills and lost wages regardless of who was at fault.
Tumblr media
Are You Entitled To PIP Benefits?
AFTER REPORTING THE ACCIDENT
Exchange Information: While waiting for law enforcement, exchange names, contact information, vehicle registration, and insurance details with the other driver(s).
Document the Scene: Take photographs of the accident scene, including all vehicles involved, any visible damages, and road conditions. This documentation can be invaluable for insurance claims and potential legal actions.
Witness Information: If there are witnesses, collect their contact information. Witness statements can provide crucial third-party perspectives on the accident.
Follow Up: After the accident, you can obtain a copy of the crash report from the responding agency. This report is essential for insurance claims and legal consultations.
Consult a Lawyer: Especially in cases of injury or significant damage, consulting with a Boca Raton car accident attorney can help you navigate the complexities of insurance claims and explore potential compensation beyond what PIP insurance covers.
Navigating the aftermath of a car accident can be overwhelming. Our Boca Raton personal injury attorney Kayla Sheldrick is ready to help you with every step, from filing a claim to negotiating with insurance companies. Reach out for a free consultation to ensure your rights are safeguarded.
Tumblr media
Do I Need a Lawyer For a Minor Car Accident in Boca Raton?
Even minor car accidents can have complicated legal and insurance implications. A lawyer can help you understand your rights, file claims such as property damage or a bodily injury claim, deal with insurance adjusters, and ensure you receive fair compensation for any damages or injuries, no matter how minor they seem. Florida's no-fault insurance laws and comparative negligence rules can affect your claim, making professional legal advice invaluable.
For any car accident in or around Boca Raton, big or small, having the right legal representation is important. Call us at (561) 440-7775 to discuss your case. Our accident attorney is committed to getting you the compensation and support you deserve.
Tumblr media
How Soon Should I See a Doctor After a Car Accident in Boca Raton?
Seeking medical attention immediately after a car accident, even if you feel fine, is crucial. Injuries like whiplash or internal bruising may not show symptoms right away. A prompt medical check-up ensures your well-being and strengthens any potential personal injury claim. Florida law allows up to 14 days to seek medical treatment to qualify for Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits, but sooner is always better.

Tangents
okay, so heres that tangent I warned about
so for the last like 10 years I have had this fantasy of winning the lottery and starting a business.....that first part is mostly the fantasy, because without that theres no way I could afford to do the latter
basically it comes down to new technology that allows automation for small guys like me, stuff like these
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
basically with 3D printing and affordable cnc and laser cutting machines, a guy like me could have the man power of like 10 people, and if I hired maybe 10 people total to assist, I could easily do something on par with much bigger companies.
my initial fantasy just involved making guitars, granted more advanced guitars then I think the market insists upon, because they are locked in the habit of what has proven sellable to MOST people. fender scale length, bolt on neck, 2 humbuckers, faux les paul look and feel. every company does it, no shame. just not my thing.
I've had this idea, which I've experimented with and talked about in the past, the guitar of the future. Ive done mockups etc like this
Tumblr media
but as I've grown older, honestly what I think it should really be is a cheap reliable guitar with a few tricks up its sleeve. so I have reimagined it as basically this
Tumblr media
telecasters are simple, and on a cnc machine if you made it as layers that were later glued together, you could make it very easily. the 4x2 headstock is better for straight string pull, and helps eliminate tuning instability. replacing the old school pickups with active style pickups like emg would make it more versatile, and then adding the b bender, along with string drops a g bender, and maybe even a strap actuated bender, the guitar could cover a lot more roles then a standard electric guitar. plus I honestly think benders are cool and more people need to play them, so making them as cheap and accessable as possible is a good idea
just a simple guitar, maybe of paulownia or plywood, cut as 2 or 3 sections and glued together, and then maybe even using a circuit board instead of wire to speed up production, its a great idea.
but I started looking into what else I could do with this hypothetical company that basically 3D prints things, and cncs plywood
I guess bikes
Tumblr media
I am a big fan of ebikes, mainly because I believe genuinely in the next 10 years they will begin to be a lot more common in most major cities, their prices will come down as there are more batteries in circulation for evs, and being able to make quick simple bikes like this to sell locally, it seems like a way to directy serve the market I want to live in.
I also looked into stereo equipment, as I am a big hifi guy, and I am a huge raspberry pi fan, so seeing stuff for hifi pi, again it would be a market i understand, and think shouldnt be so fuckin expensive
Tumblr media
I also genuinely would love to make a cheap hammond organ clone
like sub $500, because when I was wanting to pickup the instrument it was very hard to get the $ together to do so, and I know if you could injection mold the keys, cnc the body print the circuit boards, and use an arduino or raspberry pi to run a soft synth hammond clone, you could easily hit that price point
Tumblr media
more people need to play the organ
lastly is furniture
I love basic designs and furniture has always been something that I enjoy looking at, modern furniture designs, stuff from the last 50s early 60s, its so timeless and the open source furniture movement just scratches that itch. it's simple, but stylish, its utilitarian but it doesnt look bland
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the idea of being able to make these things, locally, and just being able to put out into the world things I want and I know other people would too.....I think i'd like that
just wish I didnt have to win the lottery to do it

Attention, "Postcards from Snagglepuss" fans!
Your favourite weekly adventures of Snagglepuss "on the road" are about to get a revamp, and I MEAN a revamp most significant!
Starting with the upcoming Character Convocation at Ocean City Springfest, Snagglepuss is going to "kick things up a notch" with such road trips of his that are certain to make Yogi's Gang look rather pale by comparison ... because:
Snag will be swapping his long-cherished Mini Cooper for a motorhome as will make things more or less self-contained;
Huckleberry Hound, something of a longtime compadre of Snagglepuss (remember the #2 Half-Dog, Half-Cat, Half-Track from the Fender Bender 500 segment on Wake, Rattle and Roll?), will be joining along on these experiences cross-country; and
Joining Snag and Huck in the new motorhome bivouac will be a seasonally-adjusted cast of characters from among many of your favourite Funtastic-type characters (and you thought Yogi's Gang was "going to the dogs!" with its predictable story lines!).
One thing is for certain, though: The new improved Postcards from Snagglepuss aren't expected to be anywhere near Yogi's Gang in terms of their plot or story. Nor Duffy's Dozen, for that matter. More or less, it'll be more like "going back to our Funtastic roots" as many of your favourite Hanna-Barbera characters have some interesting experiences out on the road.
Tenatively scheduled as the spring compadres of Snagglepuss and Huckleberry will be Yogi Bear and Boo-Boo (would any of you like to see Cindy along?), Magilla Gorilla, Wally Gator and Squiddly Diddly; for the summer, Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy and Hokey Wolf and Ding-a-Ling are planned to join along, with Wally Gator part of the company as well.
Meanwhile, reader, your advice would be appreciated on the sort of motorhome our crew could be imagined roaming around the country in (hopefully, a practically-designed such, though not too ostentatious, in keeping with the classic Hanna-Barbera aesthetic), some of the other Funtastically-inclined characters as could be imagined joining in (remember, such will vary in line with the seasons), and where they can be expected to head to among the more interesting parts of the country, while not overdoing it on the jingo aspect such as Yogi's Gang was bound to do and Duffy's Dozen had in mind vis-a-vis the National Park System.
Among tenative destinations for the first motorhome-based journey are the Stroudsburg Railroad in Pennsylvania (America's oldest short-line railroad); Breezewood, Pennsylvania (as unlikely a crossroads as it could get for the Lincoln Highway/US 30, the Pennsylvania Turnpike/I-76 and I-70) and some lakes in and around Estes Park, Colorado, with maybe some hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park or close-by areas.
Still, readers, at any rate, suggestions for the revamped Postcards from Snagglepuss (which will continue appearing Wednesdays, as before) in any of the preceding areas would be appreciated.

When Ford switched to aluminum bodywork on the Ford F-150 in 2015 to cut the truck's weight, potential buyers spent a good while in online discussions wondering whether repair costs would skyrocket. In 2015, the Highway Loss Data Institute — an affiliate of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety — damaged the front and rear corners of an aluminum-bodied and a steel-bodied F-150 as a test. The HLDI determined that repairing the front corner on the aluminum truck cost 10% more than the steelie, while the rear corner cost 26% more on the aluminum truck. In practice, however, it didn't work out like that. Consumer Reports said prices should remain about even, and despite the rare horror story, in 2019, with real-world data, the same HLDI wrote, "Ford F-150 repair costs remain steady despite use of aluminum." Seems it's a little different over at Rivian at the moment, where an owner received a $40,000 repair estimate for his R1T after a fender-bender. Via Carscoops, the story's told by Matt "The Dent Slayer" Boyette on YouTube. Boyette runs a paintless dent repair (PDR) shop in Jacksonville, Georgia. He said a Rivian owner in North Carolina got in touch when a fender bender resulted in damage below the R1T's driver's side taillight. Boyette says "the only certified [Rivian repair] shop" near the owner "quoted around $40,000" to replace the bedside, which runs up and over the doors to the base of the A-pillars, and that subsequently the owner's insurance wanted to total out the truck. Instead, the owner got in touch with Boyette's company, All Out PDR. Boyette said he watched a lot of videos and looked at a lot of pictures before agreeing to take on the job, after which the owner put his Rivian on a car hauler for the 500 miles to Jacksonville. Check out the short video above for the superhero job All Out PDR pulled off. Boyette explains the process and why a traditional body shop would come up with a $40,000 quote for a parking lot mishap; the way the R1T's body panels are laid out, a shop needs to dismantle a fair amount of the truck to access the necessary areas. He didn't say how much the customer ultimately paid, but All Out PDR only took three days to do its work, so the total would have been far less than the $40K estimate even with the R1T's 1,000-mile round trip from North Carolina to Florida and back.   Having a look around the web, though, this particular area on the Rivian seems to be the R1T's Achilles heel. When an R1T owner in Ohio got rear-ended in February of this year, resulting in what looked like very mild damage, the Rivian-certified repair shop gave him a $42,000 estimate. When Rich Rebuilds — the YouTuber who started by making his own Tesla out of scrapped bits of random Teslas — got his R1T rear-ended earlier this year, the shop estimated repairs at more than $37,000. Last December, a third R1T owner got a $10,000 estimate to attempt to fix some paint scuffs and small dents in the same area, along with the proviso that if the attempt didn't work, the shop would need another $20,000 to replace the panel. In his case, a mobile PDR shop showed up and spent 10 hours fixing the dent for $3,500. Counterpoint: The Internet loves such horror stories, but they're not the norm. The New York Times spoke to the Ohio R1T owner and looked into the repair figures for the EV industry, writing, "Data from Mitchell [an insurance and repair shop software company] shows that in 2022 electric vehicles cost about $6,800 on average to fix after accidents, about $2,400 more than the average for all cars." The difference is largely explained by EVs generally being newer and more luxurious, and potentially needing "work by specialist mechanics." Tesla's overwhelming market share makes it alone responsible "for 75 percent of collision claims for battery-powered models." The article said that Hyundai and Nissan EVs only average about $800 more for repairs than their gas-powered siblings, and there's rough parity when considering exclusively luxury EVs against luxury gas-powered vehicles.
Finally, "Other data suggests that electric vehicles fare relatively well. About 18 percent of gasoline cars involved in crashes are totaled, while only about 6 percent of battery-powered vehicles are deemed unrepairable after accidents, according to Mitchell." Anyone want to place early bets on Tesla Cybertruck repair costs?

Average Cost to Repaint a Bumper
Average Cost to Repaint a Bumper: A Comprehensive Guide
If you’ve ever had a fender bender or scratched your car’s bumper, you know how unsightly it can be. Repainting a bumper can help restore your car’s appearance, but how much does it cost? In this article, we’ll discuss the average cost to repaint a bumper and factors that affect the cost.
Understanding the Cost of Repainting a Bumper
The cost of repainting a bumper varies depending on several factors. Some of the key factors that can affect the cost include:
1. Extent of Damage
The extent of damage to the bumper is a significant factor that affects the cost of repainting. If the damage is minor, such as a small scratch, it may only require a touch-up, which is relatively inexpensive. However, if the damage is significant, such as a deep scratch or dent, the cost of repainting will increase.
2. Type of Paint
The type of paint used to repaint the bumper can also affect the cost. There are different types of paint available, and some are more expensive than others. For instance, metallic or pearl paints are more expensive than solid colors.
3. Labor Costs
Labor costs are another factor that can affect the cost of repainting a bumper. The labor costs will vary depending on the extent of the damage, the type of paint, and the complexity of the job.
4. Location
The location of the repair shop can also affect the cost of repainting a bumper. Repair shops in urban areas tend to charge more than those in rural areas.
Average Cost to Repaint a Bumper
So, what is the average cost to repaint a bumper? On average, you can expect to pay between $500 and $1,500 to repaint a bumper. The cost can be lower or higher, depending on the factors we discussed earlier.
Factors that Affect the Cost of Repainting a Bumper
Let’s take a closer look at the factors that can affect the cost of repainting a bumper.
1. Paint Type
As we mentioned earlier, the type of paint used can affect the cost of repainting a bumper. Metallic or pearl paints are more expensive than solid colors. The cost of the paint will depend on the quality of the paint and the color.
2. Labor Costs
The labor costs involved in repainting a bumper can vary significantly. Labor costs can depend on the extent of the damage, the type of paint used, and the complexity of the job. Repair shops may charge an hourly rate, or they may charge a flat rate for the job.
3. Location
The location of the repair shop can also affect the cost of repainting a bumper. Repair shops in urban areas tend to charge more than those in rural areas. The cost can also vary depending on the region.
4. Body Shop Reputation
The reputation of the body shop can also affect the cost of repainting a bumper. A reputable body shop may charge more than a lesser-known shop. However, a reputable shop may also provide a higher quality of work.
5. Insurance
If you have car insurance, it may cover the cost of repainting a bumper. However, you may need to pay a deductible, and your insurance rates may increase.
How to Save Money on Repainting a Bumper
There are several ways to save money on repainting a bumper. Here are a few tips:
1. DIY
If you’re handy, you may be able to repaint the bumper yourself. However, keep in mind that repainting a bumper can be a complex job that requires skill and experience.

Used Replacement Bumpers For Sale: What You Should Know
Tumblr media
Used replacement bumpers are often much cheaper than new ones, and they can easily replace the damaged bumper on your vehicle. But there are some things to keep in mind before you buy used replacement bumpers from an auto parts store or online auction site. Here’s what you need to know about used replacement bumpers for sale before you buy one
Why do I need to replace my bumper?
Bumper replacements are expensive, but they have the potential to protect your car’s exterior and reduce repair costs in the future. Many insurance companies will also give you a discount on your premiums if you opt for a new bumper replacement. This is because they take into consideration your collision history as well as the age of your vehicle. If you want to save money or score a deal, finding and installing a used bumper can be just what you need.
You should always compare used bumpers for cars before settling on one, though, since different vehicles may require different replacement parts or body panels for installation.
How much will it cost to replace my bumper?
The cost to replace a bumper varies from one car model to the next. Your mechanic will need to look at your car and measure the size of the bumper before it can give you an estimate. Generally, if your car is fairly new, a replacement bumper can run you anywhere from $250 - $500 depending on where you live in the country. If you’re looking for used bumpers for sale, don’t worry because they are available too. The best way to find out how much it will cost is by asking your mechanic or checking online – there are lots of sites that list used bumpers for cars available for purchase.
Can I find a used replacement bumper for sale?
Replacement bumpers are often sold as used parts. This is because the high costs of new replacement bumpers for cars and the time needed to install them means that many people just opt for used bumpers for sale when they get into minor accidents or experience other types of fender benders. When you are looking to buy a replacement bumper, it's important to know what you're getting. The next section will walk you through the process of purchasing a used bumper for your car.
How do I install a replacement bumper?
Installing a used replacement bumper is an easy process, but you need to have the right tools on hand.
You will first remove the bolts that hold the old bumper in place. Afterward, take off the old bumper with caution to avoid damaging any nearby wiring or airbags. When attaching a used replacement bumper for sale, you need to use the same size screws and torx bits as you did before removal.
used bumper for sale
We offer quality used bumpers for cars, which will suit your needs without the price of a new bumper. Our bumpers are of excellent quality and we offer them at a fraction of the cost of a new one. We have a variety of used bumpers for sale in stock to make sure that you will find something that is perfect for your car. Come visit our store today and see what we have to offer!
WHAT SIGNS OF WEAR SHOULD I LOOK AT WHEN BUYING A USED BUMPER?
A used bumper for sale should have no major dents, but the paint may be faded and there may be some small scratches. There should also not be any cracks or large dents. If a used bumper has more than one of these things, you may want to avoid it.
The most important thing to look at when buying a used bumper is the condition of the metal itself. Look for any rust spots on the metal and know that this type of damage will only get worse over time.
WHAT IS THE AVERAGE LIFESPAN OF A BUMPER?
The average lifespan of a bumper is approximately 10 years. If you are considering replacing your bumper, it is important to take into account the cost of a new bumper as well as the cost of labor to install it. Used bumpers for cars are an excellent option for those looking to save money on both the sticker price and installation costs. A used bumper for sale will be less expensive than a new one, and installing a used bumper is often less expensive than installing a new one because there is no need to paint or clear coat the part.

Quickdraw cowboy
Tumblr media
#Quickdraw cowboy series#
In the "Fender Bender 500" segment of the 1990s Wake, Rattle, and Roll, Quick Draw McGraw and Baba Looey are the featured racers where they drive a padded wagon-modeled monster truck called the Texas Twister.
He was a main character in Yogi's Treasure Hunt.
Quick Draw McGraw and Baba Looey appeared in The Yogi Bear Show episode "Yogi's Birthday Party".
#Quickdraw cowboy series#
Quick Draw McGraw occasionally appeared in other Hanna-Barbera productions, including 1973's Yogi's Gang, 1977–1978's Laff-A-Lympics, a celebrity roast honoring Fred Flintstone on the TV special Hanna-Barbera's All-Star Comedy Ice Revue (1978) and the 1979 TV special Casper's First Christmas, and in an episode from the short-lived 1978 series Yogi's Space Race.Comedian Kenny Moore received the nickname of "El Kabong" on some websites due to his infamous assault of a heckler with the guitar he played as part of his act. On the cartoon's soundtrack, the "kabong" sound effect was produced by a foley artist striking the detuned open strings of a cheap acoustic guitar. The "guitar" was usually drawn as a four strung cuatro. As El Kabong, Quick Draw would attack his foes by swooping down on a rope with the war cry "OLÉ!" and hitting them on the head with an acoustic guitar (after shouting "KABOOOOOONG!"), which is always referred to as a "kabonger", producing a distinctive kabong sound and usually destroying the guitar in the process. His introduction went as follows – "Of all the heroes in legend and song, there's none as brave as El Kabong". In certain cases, Quick Draw would also assume the identity of the Spanish masked vigilante El Kabong (a spoof of Zorro). This aspect was made light of in the 1980s made-for-television film The Good, the Bad, and Huckleberry Hound, which featured Quick Draw. This did not stop the show's producers from depicting him riding into town on a realistic horse, or as seen in the show's opening credits, driving a stagecoach pulled by a whole team of realistic horses. Quick Draw was himself a horse caricature that walked on two legs like a human (as did Baba Looey), and had "hands" that were hooves with thumbs and could hold objects such as guns. His main catchphrases were "Now hold on there!" and "I'll do the 'thin'in' around here and don't you forget it!" Also if he got hurt he would often say "Ooooh that smarts!" One of the main running gags in the shorts was him accidentally shooting himself with his own six-shooter.Īnother featured character was Snuffles, the bloodhound dog that would point to his mouth and "ah-ah-ah-" when he wanted a biscuit, then hug himself, leap up in the air, and float back down after having eaten one. His character was well-intentioned, but somewhat dim. Quick Draw satirized the westerns that were popular among the American public at the time. In the Brazilian version, Quick Draw speaks in a drawling Portuguese which along with his hispanized name (Pepe Legal) would suggest he was either a Texan-American or Mexican cowboy. In the Spanish American version, Quick Draw (Tiro Loco McGraw) speaks in a very English-influenced accent, and Baba Looey (Pepe Trueno, or Pepe Luis in some episodes) speaks in a very Mexican accent, so it was clear that Quick Draw was the alien, and there was no need to adapt any feature of the story. Quick Draw was often accompanied by his deputy, a Mexican burro called Baba Looey (also voiced by Daws Butler), who spoke English with a Mexican accent and called his partner "Queeks Draw". Quick Draw was usually depicted as a sheriff in a series of short films set in the Old West. The cartoon was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1960. All 45 of his cartoons that originally aired between 19 were written by Michael Maltese, known best for his work at the Warner Bros. He is a white horse, wearing a red cowboy hat, a red holster belt, and a light blue bandana. Quick Draw McGraw is a fictional anthropomorphic horse and the protagonist and title character of The Quick Draw McGraw Show. Maurice LaMarche ( Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law) Gilbert Mack/ Don Elliot ( Quick Draw McGraw and Huckleberry Hound LP (1959)) Ĭhuck McCann ( Wake Up, America! LP (1965)) Įarl Kress ( Cartoon Network bumpers, Hanna-Barbera Cartoon Sound FX (1994))
