Originally called Vildvittra, based on the characters created by Astrid Lindgren as part of Ronja Rövardotter, the band’s name later evolved into Vittra, inspired by the mythical creatures appearing in Swedish folk stories. And while Swedish folk is a recurring theme weaving in and out of their music, the band is firmly rooted in Melodic Death and Thrash Metal in the veins of Dissection, early In Flames, Megadeth, and At The Gates
Founded in 2017 by David Döragrip (vocals) and Johan Murmester (guitar), the lineup was completed in 2018 with Alex Smith (drums) and Gustav Svensson (bass) joining the band. In the studio and on stage Vittra has also been joined by Lars Elofsson on lead guitar since 2021. This was also the year they released their debut EP Wardens, recorded at SolnaSound Production, Sweden, with the support of Simon Johansson (Soilwork, Wolf). Only a few months later, they entered SolnaSound again – this time supported by both Simon and Mike Wead (King Diamond, Mercyful Fate) – and in April 2022 Blasphemy Blues was finalized. Lawrence Mackrory (Bloodbath, Lik, Firespawn) handled the mixing and mastering. Hjules created the cover artwork.

Mortal Kombat: in the end: Forgotten son.
Summary: Ages ago, lived a family of a God, a mortal, and their two sons. Centuries later, the younger son demands answers.
Chapter List.
Chapter List part two.
Daegon wasn’t fond of the Netherrealm. The damned screams and distant roars made it difficult to think. Nevertheless, he had a mission to do. He had to find Shinnok.
Taven would likely be chasing after him, searching for answers. A shame that Dargon couldn’t fight him yet, but all in due time. Over the years, he had grown far stronger and faster.
It had been centuries since that fateful day. As he journeyed to his destination, he allowed his mind to wander back.
-----------------------------------------------------
Daegon barged into his parent’s stronghold, one of their hidden Earthrealm temples, and yelled for them.
“Mother, father! Your son has returned!”
Argus and Delia soon came before their son, Delia hurriedly walking up and reaching her hand to Daegon’s face.
“Daegon, you’re alive-
Daegon slapped his mother’s hand aside and pointed his eyes and finger to his father.
“What is the purpose of this quest? Why use Taven and me as pawns?”
Argus was silent, even as Daegon marched forward.
“Answer me, you bastard-
Delia placed a hand on her son’s shoulder, attempting to calm him. It worked, slightly. Daegon preferred his mother to his father.
“The quest was done for the safety of the realms. You and your brother would race to battle Blaze, a firespawn who will grant the victor power to halt Armageddon. You are not to fight each other, merely Blaze.”
Daegon was silent. Shinnok told him that his parents favoured Taven in this quest. Daegon could trust Delia, but he had to hear it from Argus’ lips.
“You are aiding Taven,” He said quietly yet loud enough for Argus to hear.
Argus scoffed, as though Daegon told him of a nightmare.
“Ridiculous, who told you such a thing? Would I endanger the realms with something so petty?”
Daegon felt his temper grow. Why did Argus dismiss his concerns?
“Lord Shinnok told me. You have always favoured Taven. This is to be expected.”
“Daegon!” Delia cried, voice more emphasized than ever before. “What you are suggesting is insane, do you hear yourself?”
As much as his mind swirled between trust in his mother and contempt for his father, Argus’ next words made his mind narrow.
“Son, your jealousy has left you unbalanced. Let me return you to slumber, and all shall be right.”
As Argus loomed forwards, intent on returning his son to slumber, Daegon felt rage burn inside of him. Argus was avoiding his guilt, he didn’t even try to give Daegon the benefit of the doubt, only calling him delirious.
Well, if Argus was so convinced he was lesser, allow Daegon to prove him wrong.
In a single motion, Daegon pulled out his pair of swords and rammed one through Argus’ chest. Delia’s scream was background noise. Argus’ hand drifted to his wound, expression curling in pain before Daegon severed his head.
“Blame yourself, father.”
Argus’ head hit the floor, blood coming from the stump where it used to be. Daegon locked eyes with Delia. The lady of flame shook her head, tears coming from her bandanna as she sent a blast of crimson telekinetic energy against her son.
Daegon was flung against the wall, standing back to his feet, he drew his blades and dashed forwards. Delia held out her hand, intended to halt him with magic.
“Please, my son-
Delia usually kept control of her intense emotions, sorcery demanded control. But, in her emotional turmoil between rage, grief, pleading and love, a flame burst from her palm and nailed Daegon directly in his left eye. The son fell to his back, groaning in pain. Delia rushed over to her son.
“Daegon, I’m sorry. Are you-?
Daegon shoved his blade through her stomach. Delia gasped, but found the strength to rest her palm on Daegon’s face.
“My son, my wonderful son, why?”
Those were her final words as Daegon stood among the corpses of his mother and father.
-----------------------------------------------------
Daegon forced himself out of the memory. He did not regret his decision, Argus favoured Taven, never bothering to give his other son a fraction of the praise. Delia would rather avenge her husband than stand by her son. Were all of those reassurances for nothing?
It didn’t matter. He had become much more than the lesser son of a god and sorcerer. He was the leader of a realm-spanning organisation, and soon to be so much more.
The prize would be his. And if he had to kill Taven for it? So be it.
