At the @outriderspresent Under the Big Sky Festival last weekend they offered a nice selection of Montana craft beer. I will not go into every one but their offerings were @kettlehouse @greatnorthernbrewing @bigskybrewing @biasbrewing @westerncider @bayernbrewing @draughtworks @tamarackbrewing The beertenders were a few familiar faces from Great Northern and they were very busy! There were two sides to this beer setup but only one for a crowd of reportedly 15,000. Though it was centrally located I think another brew station would have been appropriate. Beers were $8-9 which for a festival is fairly decent, my only gripe is that the cups definitely looked a little small (12 oz max), which may be because of MT brew laws but this was not a brewery and there was no 48 oz per customer limit. They required different colored 21+ wrist bands for each day which is a good thing. The beer was cold and on the first day I had the Bias Hazy Pineapple IPA (which is very new) and Great Northern's Fred's Black Lager. The second day I stuck to Kettlehouse's Cold Smoke Scotch Ale, which is practically an obligatory Montana beer offering at this point. When you've spent all day moving... and you just need beer and internet. The Earned It IPA by Snake River was sold out so I went with a Pako's IPA... my first time having it. I'm physically and mentally exhausted from the move... and the 25+ minutes I've been on hold for customer support for this internet setup. But this is smooth. Like three down since dinner smooth... and has a real floral element, it's very Simcoe. I am not a big fan of most sweet IPAs and this is just a bit of sweetness... This could pair well with a more intricate meal but for me and my packed up kitchen it went well with carry out pizza. Now that I'm in a bigger space I can have a second fridge again!
