Omg I need your thoughts on Henry with a very inexperienced partner. Maybe someone who is very shy/ unsure due to their inexperience. Would he be patient or rather annoyed, would he hold back? I just need your opinion

this is a very interesting scenario, as he would have to be the one with the more developed experience in this case — to me, this begs the question, where on earth from? lol. but let me give you a little taste of henry with an inexperienced partner... and perhaps a sprinkle of mild corruption kink.

he would be very considerate; definitely not a pushover or let alone anyone who would coerce or rush you into anything. he would approach the matter of your inexperience with the utmost patience and care, not talking about it with you too much, but nevertheless assessing that he does understand with his gestures alone: he would be extra tender and take his sweet time with every touch he'd lay upon you, each kiss, each change of course — leaving enough time in between for you to protest or announce your aversion to anything he'd do if need be. you would appreciate that greatly — though sparsely communicated or commented on, you'd nevertheless feel catered to and cared for in that regard.

however, he would need to hold back. this man, all stoicism aside, has a multitude of emotions to spare at all times. we know that for a fact — he yields to anger outbursts on occasion, which just shows that he isn't, in fact, entirely apathetic, and instead has something real lodged inside him that is constantly trying to tear its way free, and he has merely gotten skilled at suppressing it. thus, i do feel like he would need to restrain himself a lot, specifically because acts of intimacy would be one of those emotional outlets he'd utilize in order not to psychologically implode.

because of his profound consideration and understanding of your situation, however, he would hold himself back with all the self-control he'd be able to gather. only once he had spent quite a bit of time easing you and welcoming you to the process of it all, would he actually let loose at last and give you all there is to offer on his end — and it'd be so much. you'd be surprised to say the absolute least by the myriad of ways a person could be pleased, and how expertly so, as well.

plus, i do feel like it would please him somewhere deep down to have introduced you to the world of pleasure and intimacy in this way. we know him to internally revel in glory — i mean, he's elitist as hell. it would definitely give him a little ego push, which, you know, would only result in more confidence in his actions and intentions ;)

✧ based on the ask: how would the characters react when jing yuan somehow magically transforms into a lion (like mimi) for a day? x reader is ok!! - requested by @/ephemeralyae

✧ a/n: i've noticed a certain pattern with my writing sideblogs, and that is the fact that i'll always get this sort of request HAHA. And in line with similar patterns, this will be the first post written in a headcanon format! i went the x reader route with just a hint on how characters would react (not that big of a reaction, moreso what they have to do in this situation) so i hope it was okay!

✧ He is as confused as everyone else with this situation. One moment he's sitting idly by his office, writing on his desk and the next moment he's left staring dumbfoundedly at a gigantic paw quite similar to the paws he squishes quite frequently back at home.

✧ Is the quick rundown you're given when you arrive at the Seat of Divine Foresight along with Fu Xuan and Yukong - having been frequently spammed with incoherent messages from Qingzu in the span of a few minutes.

✧ And although this very much is a serious situation - nevermind the mystery that the Divine Foresight is always absent from his usual seat, if he actually stays in this lion form for more than a day everything onboard the luofu will be behind schedule and he will for real be absent from the Seat of Divine Foresight because he's going to be taken in by the alchemy comission to figure out how to turn him back.

✧ And yet, as everyone is scrambling around trying to figure out a solution to turn him back and a reason to why he specifically was turned only - you're just left staring straight back at the lion with soft white hair and golden eyes who seem all to relaxed when staring back at you.

✧ Heck the tail is even comfortably swaying back and forth - even though he's well aware of the chaos he's caused.

✧ "... You know everyone in this room is in a disarray because of you, right?" a small roar that oddly sounded like his usual laugh, "... Yukong have to be able to discreetly send a message to the other flagships without even alerting anyone else in the Palace of Astrum, you are aware of that, correct?" you swear you saw the lion nodding his head.

✧ "... Master diviner Fu Xuan is going to have a lot more on her plate with this added problem, you agree to that right?" you ask once more, the lion only gave you a closed eyed smile.

✧ "Yanqing will be disappointed when you're not going to spar with him today, you've already avoided it for the past 2 weeks and you promised him today," the lion merely turns his head around, promptly ignoring you with a side glance of mischief.

✧ How can he be a scoundrel even when turned into a lion.

✧ "... Mimi would probably attack you the moment she spots you," you settle on saying. And somehow that information alone was enough for the once relaxed state of the lion to be in distress. Jing Yuan's once laid down form springing back into all fours - the sudden action making Qingzu who were still sorting out documents yelp.

✧ "... You know you could've tried saying you would leave him to see if he would react," Fu Xuan comments as the lion before the two of you makes his way over, "I think he would die on the spot if I said that, now how do we get him to-" you're unable to finish your answer back to the master diviner when you're suddenly pounced on by Jing Yuan.

✧ And as anyone would've expected, the much heavier weight makes you topple down to the floor with a loud bang.

✧ "... Did he already gain some feline traits?"

✧ You're unable to answer the question, desperately slamming your fist down on the lions mane before you're able to wriggle your head away from the amount of fur in your face, "Jing Yuan-" you wheeze, "I'm barely able to carry you while you're human, what made you think I can carry you when you weigh close to 200 kilograms?!"

✧ The lion seemed to not care, merely nuzzling his nose against your hair while making no move to actually get off of you.

✧ "... You know what, let's just call the healers down here and leave him here for the day. I have other business to attend to and Yanqing is already blowing up my phone asking where this idiot is," you say, tapping the lion on top of you on the nose before letting your hands tousle the mane, blinking in surprise at how oddly soft it was.

✧ "... On second thought I'll stay here until the healers come," you rephrase, continuing to run your hands through the mane, Jing Yuan seeming to purr in content at the excessive rubbing.

✧ So this is why Mimi is so content whenever you would excessively rub her everywhere.

As a language & astrology nerd, I can't get over the fact that Astarion Ancunin's full name means 'star rabbit' in Latin.

(Latin: astrum = star, astra = stars, Latin: cuniculus = rabbit, Friulian: cunin = rabbit)

That's why I totally dig the star constellation ship name for Astarion x Halsin. They're both associated with star signs (little bear/little dipper & Lepus/hare).

Also, side note: Halsin stems from the Old-Germanic words 'hel'/'hal' = 'hide' OR 'hell' = 'bright' & 'sin' = 'always'/'all-encompassing'/'constant'.

Thus, Halsin basically means 'constant brightness' or 'always hidden'.

Which is really cool in regards to Astarion.

If the name's interpretation is 'always hidden', it fits nicely with the rabbit's stereotypical behaviour of running away & hiding. Thus, Halsin's Astarion's safe space.

If the name's interpretation is 'constant brightness/light', again, it fits with the star theme - and also the fact that Astarion's a vampire and burns in the sun but can bathe in the light of the moon & stars. Thus, Halsin's Astarion's light (therefore symbolically hope) in the darkness.

Poetic, isn't it?

A/n :

this may be a little long since its directly concerning the original plot from HSR. I might slip in a little someone in here, but that's about it since i dont want to stray too far for the sake of character development. And... there wont be much Blade in here. And since the canon has once again been altered about the cause of Yingxing's death, biiiiig plot twist, some things might not make sense at first, but i'll round things up since it was only barely mentioned about their past :)) do correct me if there are parts that are wrong !!

"He goes by the name...Blade."

As Jing Yuan said that, he looked at her for a brief moment, with a sort of...conflicted emotion in his eyes. It was as if...he was saying something forbidden, a taboo. But (Y/n) decided against questioning more than needed. It wasn't her place after all.

"So...am I allowed in the Seat of Divine Foresight...? Am I not an outsider ?" (Y/n) asked, as she continued to wait next to Jing Yuan. Jing Yuan looked pretty disturbed about the name, so she didn't question him about it.

"Of course you are. I'll just say you're my...hm...companion per say," Jing Yuan said, putting a finger on his chin as he pondered slightly about it. But it didn't seem like he was thinking much about it at all. It was as if those were the exact things he wanted to call her.

"Wouldn't people be curious ?" (Y/n) asked as the Starskiff arrived. "Oh, it's here."

Jing Yuan chuckled as he boarded the Starskiff, putting a hand out for the dragon lady to take. Which she graciously did as she boarded the airship. "Would anyone dare question the General of the Luofu ? I beg to differ." Jing Yuan chuckled again.

"And those who are accepted to roam the archives...know about your state. Some...have even seen you there before." Jing Yuan explained, and (Y/n) looked a little confused as to what he meant by that.

"And, why is that ?" She asked, noticing that he indeed wanted to say something, but stopped in the middle. She turned to look at him, and her eyes widened at the sight.

Jing Yuan, having faltered a little from his flirty nature, was blushing with a fist to his lips before coughing a little. "Because whenever I would go missing from my desk of paperwork, they would come find me there. It's...no secret..."

"I...I see..." (Y/n) said, a small smile on her lips as she looked down to her lap, where her hands were neatly placed. "I'm...glad I wasn't alone in that...room."

A room so dark it was only illuminated by the soft blue glow of the ice flowers that she lay on. A room so cold if it wasn't for the hand that held hers when she woke up.

And before long, the two arrived at the Seat of Divine Foresight, where Jing Yuan promised to intercept a call to the Palace of Astrum. As they walked in, they saw a young boy waiting for someone by the grand table in the far end of the Seat of Divine Foresight.

(Y/n)'s eyes widened at the young boy. He was...beautiful was an understatement. He had straight and silky blonde hair, with matching gold eyes. And as soon as the two entered, he turned to look at them, well, rather Jing Yuan.

"General ! I heard about..." then the young boy's gaze fell upon the woman beside his master, gold eyes widening in surprise. "You...you're that...the ice flower lady..."

"Now, now. Don't scare her, Yanqing. She just woke up today." Jing Yuan said as the two walked through the holographic board game, the Starchess. Then, the general gestured her to the young boy.

"(Y/n), this is my student, Yanqing. Lieutenant Yanqing, Lady (Y/n)." Jing Yuan introduced. And the young boy looked quite...impressed by the lady before him.

"How...did she wake up...?" Yanqing wondered and Jing Yuan chuckled softly at the curiosity of his student.

"Most likely the Stellaron. Now, pardon me, both of you. I must send a holographic figure of mine to the Palace of Astrum." Jing Yuan said as he set up a small device on the ground, hoping the connection will reach the other side of the Luofu. "I've received word from Madam Yukong that the Astral Express, that call themselves the Nameless, have stepped foot onto the Xianzhou, but through a docking port, the Jade Gate, said to be instructed by the Stellaron Hunters."

"The Stellaron Hunters...?" Yanqing said, before looking at his master. "But--" "Shh."

The lion master put a hand up to silence his student as the holographic scene of the Palace of Astrum was in front of them. A foxian lady in oriental-clothing, much like the other Xianzhou natives, who was speaking sternly to a group of...outworlders (it seems, from their clothing).

A few strong words of rejection were said by the green-haired foxian, as small reasonings were given by a man from the opposing team. From what she saw, it seemed like it was the leader of the Nameless, a man wearing glasses who was accompanied by two younger girls.

"You are forbidden from leaving the Sky-Faring Commission until the aforementioned questions have been investigated." said the stern woman.

Jing Yuan chuckled as he stepped into the screen, appearing as a hologram in the side of the other party. "Don't be too harsh, Yukong. If this gets out, the whole galaxy will think the Alliance has forgotten how to treat our guests."

The foxian woman, Yukong, looked a little surprised at the sudden appearance and much needed interruption from her general, stuttering a little.

The general than begun to justify the words said by the Nameless and Yukong, appearing to be quite accepting to the sudden and unannounced arrival of the Astral Express team. It seems...that there is more to it than meets the eye, as (Y/n) thought.

"He's practically using them as bait." (Y/n) sweat-dropped and Yanqing nodded along with her. But he seemed to be quite focused and keen on something Jing Yuan had said.

"Wonderful, it's a deal then. I shall inform Yukong that all intel is to be shared with you and that our best personnel are to aid your search. If there's anything the Sky-Faring Commission and the Cloud Knights could do for you during your stay, please don't hesitate to make it known." Jing Yuan said, and the call concluded.

That was until the telling hologram popped up in the room. A small lady with pink hair pinned up by various hairpins and accessories appeared in front of them. Unlike Yanqing, she wasn't surprised in the slightest at the appearance of the newly awoken dragon lady. Perhaps she had foreseen it with the gem on her forehead...?

Yanqing and (Y/n) listened quietly as the two conversed regarding the issue about Blade and how this Stellaron Hunter escaped from under Jing Yuan's gaze. Upon listening closely, it seemed that (Y/n) was indeed right. The lady before her is none other than the Master Diviner, Fu Xuan.

But to her, it was quite hilarious of how this little lady before her thought so highly of herself, even requesting that Jing Yuan suggest her as his successor once he retires. Perhaps she was tired of standing below him...? Or did she want to prove herself for something ? Or was she just power hungry ?

Perhaps her wit and foreseeing abilities do impress the hearts of many and is a great help with governing the Xianzhou. But that tongue of hers and the way she jumps to conclusions, makes (Y/n) indeed think twice. This lady has got anger issues indeed.

Jing Yuan sighed, before looking at (Y/n) warmly with those eyes of his. "There are three things in the world that I cant seem to rid myself of : the troubles of the Xianzhou, the papers on my desk, and the weeds in my garden."

"General, Diviner Fu wants the general's position for herself. Everyone knows that. Even Lady (Y/n) here would've guessed so by now." Yanqing deadpanned as he told his master. (Y/n) chuckled softly, finding the bluntness of this young man quite amusing for her to see.

"She is very capable, but her intellect is burdened by a quick temper. I'll retire when she's achieved a better balance." Jing Yuan said with a knowing smile to the other two by his side.

"This Stellaron thing is easy. Blade escaped, now we gotta go get him. Just say the word and I'll solve it in a flash." Yanqing said confidently.

"I can understand your impatience and I know you want to prove yourself," Jing Yuan said, turning around to face his student. "Now is not the time. If you truly wish to become a Sword Champion, you shouldn't be running around brandishing your sword at people, especially not a major criminal."

"Tsk, you think I'd lose to Blade ?" Yanqing arrogantly declared, a hand on his chest, as if to prove to his master his worth.

Though (Y/n) did indeed applaud his confidence, she couldnt help but put a hand on his back. "Lieutenant. You must not underestimate your opponents before you meet them."

"Lady (Y/n) is right, I'm saying you need to have patience, Yanqing. Governing Xianzhou is different from a sword fight. The only way to build momentum is to work slowly. Besides, we still don't know who's really moving the chess piece." Jing Yuan advised, gesturing to the holographic Starchess board in front of them.

"There is something we must take care of before making our next move. As long as it remains unsolved, we're at a stalemate. That thing...is the Stellaron." Jing Yuan said, looking at (Y/n) who had woken up due to the anomaly caused by the Stellaron.

And that made her wonder, if the Stellaron has been removed, would she...still be here ? Or would she go back to sleep ? But...she isn't a fragmentum creation, so she wouldn't die, right ?

Only time would tell...

"How did it manage to bypass the Sky-Faring Commission's inspections and the Divination Commission's predictions ? Where is it now ?" Jing Yuan continued to question, those unanswered left hanging in (Y/n)'s mind.

"I say we bring those two Stellaron Hunters before Diviner Fu -- she'll get an answer out of them in no time." Yanqing said, eager to go out and hunt them down. But Jing Yuan shut him down yet again.

"I've asked our friends from the Express to take care of that for us. Worry not, you'll have your moment when the current stalemate is broken." Jing Yuan said again, his back facing the teen as the general walked pacing back and forth.

Yanqing seemed to not listen anymore, feeling quite upset with Jing Yuan's words. It seemed to him that Jing Yuan only viewed him as a child, not as a capable sword master. And as Jing Yuan still talked, trying to comfort the teen, (Y/n)'s eyes widened as Yanqing turned to leave.

She held her hand out to stop him, worry in her (e/c) eyes, but she stopped. She curled her fingers slightly as she let her eyes downcast. Maybe it was best he had some time for himself at the moment...

"You are my most--" "Jing Yuan...Yanqing left..." (Y/n) intervened, feeling a little rude for interrupting. But what use was it to let Jing Yuan keep talking when the receiver had left ?

Jing Yuan sighed. "That boy..." he said, putting a hand on his forehead before placing a hand on (Y/n)'s shoulder. "I suppose it is my fault. I should've given him an opportunity already. 'A sharp sword can't stay sheathed forever', haha..."

(Y/n) looked at him with worried eyes, before putting her own hand on his. Her smaller hand gently contacting his own, as a way to comfort him. "You're worried for him. It's not your fault." (Y/n) said, and Jing Yuan laughed softly, moving his other hand to tuck a strand of hair behind (Y/n)'s ear.

"Should I go after him...? He seemed quite upset..." (Y/n) said softly, looking down to the ground beneath her.

Jing Yuan chuckled, moving the hand that was perched on her shoulder to put a finger beneath her chin, tilting her head up to gaze into his golden eyes. "I'd be grateful if you could console that child, my princess." he said.

"Then, I shall take my leave." (Y/n) said, too concerned for the child to react to his advancements. She politely pulled back, waved at him for a moment, before running off to find the child.

Jing Yuan looked at her figure, and chuckled, his eyes glossy with a longing gaze. "(Y/n) and Dan Jia... are no different from each other. Both of them have always been...so motherly..."

"Jing Yuan ! Jingliu said you guys were ambushed !" A loving voice called out as he closed his eyes.

A figure of a young woman running to hug him, pulling back to inspect him for wounds. Her hands roamed his body, checking thoroughly. Though chronologically she was older, her mental state was not much older than his own as the dragon lady before him aged slower than most of her own kind.

"I'm fine, Dan Jia." he said with a soft chuckle leaving his lips.

Dan Jia smiled and hugged him once again.

"Welcome back, Jing Yuan..."

"Welcome back...Dan Jia..." he whispered.

"I wonder...would you chase after Blade after knowing who he is, or will you stay here with me...?

i needed a few days to digest this ask with its grand appeal, and now i find i'm not mad at the idea of henry with a partner with a preposterously high(er) sex drive whatsoever. i mean, i certainly wouldn't blame one for that — he's simply so irresistible in his own ways, so alluring and attractive and worth losing your sweet mind over. personally, i would be battling the urge to submit myself to him at all times. foaming-at-the-mouth-and-clawing-at-the-walls feral. i 100% get it.

Jisung had you had been friends since the first year of college, bond forged through shared allnighters spent on tough chemistry assignments and your obsession with youtube channels like astrum. While Jisung and you insisted that your relationship was purely platonic your friends Chenle and Ningning still enjoyed teasing you. The teasing was not baseless though it was obvious that you had a huge crush on the boy. He is gorgeous inside and out. For the sake of your friendship and to avoid embarrassment you keep your feelings to yourself.

One friday night the both of you were dragged to a party at your friend Haechans house. While both of you were homebodies and would have rather stayed home to watch the next episode of astrum y'all still attended on the insistence of your friends.

Both of you clung to each other annoyed by the booming music and your wasted friends. However after a few too many drinks and you start can't help but place lingering touch on jisungs arms and thighs. The tint on his cheeks and the slight tent in his trousers went unnoticed as his wandering hands on your waist and hips sent shivers down my spine. Soon one thing lead to another and you were straddling he placed hungry kisses on your lips and chest. You both made your way to his apartment tearing of each others clothes and shamelessly ogling each others bodies. Jisung was a gentleman in bed. You were not very experienced but it was the best fuck of your life.

The both of you avoided each other for the next week. You often found yourself fantasizing about your time with him. His incredibly sculpted body, his messy bed head, his swollen lips, his long fingers deep inside you. But you also missed him as your companion. After about a week you confronted him about your drunken escapade hoping to salvage your friendship. Much to your dismay Jisung blushed and nervously confessed that he enjoyed your time together.

You made a pact, promising to keep things casual and free from the complications of love and commitment. It seemed like the perfect solution—a way to explore our mutual attraction without risking the foundation of your friendship.

At first, it was thrilling sneaking away from your friends fucking in public bathrooms, the broom closet, an empty classrooms, each other kitchens and couches you name it. You reveled in the freedom of your arrangement, indulging in moments of passion and pleasure without the weight of expectations. Sex became a efficient stressbuster for the both of you.

But as time passed, the lines between friendship and something more began to blur. You crush on him which had long buried beneath layers of denial began to resurface .You found myself longing for more than just physical intimacy. Additionally the sneaking around was exhausting. You wanted your relationship to have direction and commitment. More so you longed to go on dates with him, hold his hand in public and kiss him without guilt.

Yet, every time you tried to broach the subject, you were met with hesitation and uncertainty. on his end. Jisung was reluctant to commit, he cherished your connection and was content to keep things light and uncomplicated. But deep down you know that what you share is anything but simple. You were hopelessly in love with Park Jisung.

And so, as you lie here in the darkness, tangled up in sheets that smell of his sandalwood perfume, You can't help but wonder where we'll go from here. Will you continue to dance around our feelings, content to remain stuck being best friends who casually fuck? Only time will tell. But for now, you cherish these stolen moments—the warmth of his chest snuggled against mine, the softness of his laughter echoing in the night.

im curious if you had inspiration from other characters for the other archivists designs and stuff, like with luna being insp from blue diamond/rosalina, yknow? all if their designs look soooo cool!!

Thank u!!! Tbh I didn’t really get inspired from specific characters for the other guys, they just kinda came to me??? I had general concepts and as I drew them I was like “ooh wouldn’t it be cool if…..”

Like Solaris is a huge drama queen and I designed him to resemble the costumes in the Broadway productions of Cats? With the hair and eyebrows and markings and all- and Astrum was meant to always be a bit of a jester but the two tailed hat comes from the two pink and blue comets in the portrait on the left, in which the others also helped with designing the other archivists.

Ending MerMay (every day is MerMay tbh) with my Moon design for my Ocean AU! In this AU, his name is Moonfall (a name given by locals).

Close ups under the cut!

Scars are from other astrosirens (What their species are called. The scientific name is astrum aquadraco) and attacks from poachers. These things are pure muscle, a whip from that tail could fold a catamaran in half. 

Moonfall is big. He’s 67 feet long, just past class leviathan, making him an astroleviathan instead of an astrosiren by technicality. 

His eyes become black with bright white pupils at night. Those pupils can turn bright red when provoked/hunting. His markings can also glow as an intimidation display or to attract potential mates. 

Moonfall is a lunar astrosiren subtype. This means he is darker in coloration, nocturnal, and is a man-eater. 

I could go more into detail, but I might turn this post into an essay if I do, so I’ll bite my tongue for now lol.

Bird Symbolism on the Xianzhou

This all started with a question I asked my friend: "Well, have you ever seen a bird on the Xianzhou?"

Birds have played a major role in my very autistic investigations of Xianzhou lore. My intuition just knew that they were important so I started cataloguing every instance of birds appearing on the Xianzhou. I'll start with the more common appearances and then delve into the more obscure ones.

I would also like to preface this by saying I am not a bird scientist nor am I particularly interested in birds outside of the context of HSR. I simply noticed there were some repeating patterns and really wanted to make note of them.

So here's all the times I've seen a bird on the Xianzhou.

The Boring Ones

Sky-faring Commission/Starskiff Bird Symbol

This bird shows up all over the Xianzhou on buildings and signage. It is used on the signs indicating starskiffs but honestly can show up anywhere. Large associations with the sky-faring commission. Highly likely it is inspired by the white bird later in the post.

Jing Yuan's Finches

Another really obvious one as most people are familiar with his finches. As far as I know, they only appear in relation to Jing Yuan and don't seem to have any meaning outside of sheer vibes.

Before Dawn Lightcone:

"Do not make this decision lightly, general... Think about how you will be remembered in history..." The general of the Cloud Knights listens to his subordinates' words with eyes half-closed. "History will make its own judgment, but I have no interest in my legacy." "If I succeed, history will state that I am currently supremely confident in my masterful strategy." "But if I fail, then history will state that I am currently neglecting my duties in wanton pleasure, preferring finches over my people." A finch jumps down from his shoulder, and he extends his hand to catch the small creature. "I have simply made my own decision."

Yukong's Kestral

Similar to the bird that appears on Yanqing, Yukong's Kestral is a symbol that is connected to her beloved Caiyi.

Past and Future Lightcone:

The wings of the paper kite in her hands were broken, brutally reminding her of her beloved's tragic passing. She kneeled next to the fire of war, eyes full of sorrow. "If you are the only one left to do this, then our sacrifice would..." Gunfire raged on, painting the sky red without dampening its majesty. She looked up at the sky, eyes full of fury.

Edit: Qingque and Phoenix

These aren't related to anything as far as I can tell but there is also this bird that appears on Qingque's outfit.

There's also a phoenix that shows up in the Palace of Astrum and again in the Seven Arbiter Generals myriad. It may be something related to the history of the Xianzhou (the planet they came from in particular) because it appears on each of those panels outlining the backstory.

The Fun Ones

Yanqing's Swallow

Now starting to get into the territory of birds that are actually pretty interesting to the lore. The swallow is a bird that is literally everywhere on Yanqing. The painting is found near the Petrichor Inn. - this is significant because the Petrichor Inn has strong associations with the Vidyadhara. The also appear on the handle of his sword and in his splashart.

River Flows in Spring Lightcone:

The young boy took a short break from his sword practice. The sunlight was baking his already heated neck. He slowly got into the water, whose coldness touched his bare feet. When the bell chimes and birds tweet, even the people far away would know that springtime had arrived.

The Water Birds

Repeated appearance of birds made of water both in relation to Yanqing and found in cages in the Vidyadhara section of the Xianzhou. I believe these are some kind of spirit birds similar to the water creatures that swim through the Scalegorge Waterscape and Dan Heng's own azure dragon. These are probably similar to the Oceanids of Genshin Impact where they actually contain souls that take whatever shape they want in the water - probably the souls of dead Vidyadhara if I had to guess. Why are they being caged and sold around the Xianzhou in Vidyadhara areas? I have literally no idea at this point.

Yanqing has these ice swallows appear during his attacks. There's a recurring theme of swords containing souls in Xianxia stories which is also loosely connected to the concept of Blade's sword graveyard in the Hellscape. I think Yanqing's ice birds are somehow souls similar to the water birds caged around the Xianzhou.

The uber weird part about all of this is how at the end of Yanqing's ultimate you see this image. In the background of the image are the mountains associated strongly with the Vidyadhara and Dan Heng in particular.

I don't know what this means for Yanqing right now but he is an expy of a pre-existing character from Honkai Impact 3rd: Ma Yanqing. They probably have some plan for him that isn't immediately apparent right now but I would like to point out that his grandmaster, Jingliu, is also heavily associated with the mountain moon realm and can also summon a sword made of water/ice. This does not appear to be a technique known by anyone else and Jingliu herself needed to defeat the abomination in order to acquire her singular ice sword.

The Crane

Appearing initially only on Dan Feng's clothing, the crane has made a comeback in the new Cloud Knights Martial Doctrine, On Swords myriad trailer. They are significant because the also appear among the mountain realm and the moon. Notice the association Jingliu, Yanqing, and Dan Heng in particular.

The Black Bird

So not all the birds in this picture are distinctly black but their colour is ambiguous and they are similarly shaped so I'm lumping them together. They all appear in association with the mountain area - Blade's sword graveyard is also in the mountain area. The top right picture is from Dan Heng's first fansong.

The White Bird

Not sure what species of bird this is supposed to be but there's a white bird that appears repeatedly in association with the mountain realm. More specifically, it appears among the clouds and may freely travel from the Scalegorge to the Mountains through the hole in the clouds. Bottom left is from Blade's fansong. I think these birds may represent souls and the dead in the same way that Blade's spiderlilies and swords do.

There's also this bird above the realm-keeping commission that I'm unsure how to categorize because of it's unique shape but it's also among the mountains and moon.

Edit: Dan Shu's Bird

This one is actually important for the spirit bird concept. In the Longevous Disciple relic set she tells us of a story that inspires her:

According to the legend, a certain delvemaster saved her partner by placing their soul into a bird, granting them immortality. However, she eventually could not resist the call of the avian and also transformed into a bird, flying alongside them. Over time, the delvemaster became confused and lost her true form, becoming a half-feathered, half-human monster. When her subjects stormed the palace and pierced her with blazing spears and arrows, the two birds sang a final mournful song and turned to ashes together. She loved this story so much that she took the essence and marrow of birds and transformed them in the alchemical furnace, then had someone weave these materials into a luxurious feather coat. She could not see just how beautiful the coat was, but nonetheless enjoyed walking around the house while wearing it — it was meant to be seen by a person who no longer existed. As the garb fluttered, she always felt that a bird-like soul was flying and passing through her hands and shoulders, ever-present.

It's not clear how much of the legend is actually true but it could be inspired by the spirit birds.

I think I've said just about everything that I wanted to say. I'm curious if anyone else has any thoughts on the birds. I've listed most of them but there are one or two paintings I left out from fear of repetition.

I have a lot of additional Thoughts about the birds but I'll leave that for another post.
