her parents were, for lack of better terms, unhinged. that’s what gracie had thought all those years ago when they told her they had a safe house out in the middle of nowhere. she didn’t understand why they could possibly need it however perhaps they knew something she didn’t, since only a few years later the world turned to shit. surprisingly enough, the two people in her family that seemed the most prepared hadn’t actually made it out to their little haven, leaving gracie alone to fend for herself. almost a month had gone by now and she hadn’t heard anyone, or anything, in weeks. no dead, no passers by. perhaps her parents really had been clever in setting up a bunker in the woods. she was only out to get fresh air when she heard a twig snap behind her, it made her freeze but the dread that filled her stomach let her know she wasn’t alone. “who’s there?”

           SHE RAISED a brow at muireann, a smirk tugging at her lips. “you’re just saying that because you know you’re going to lose against me,” hero declared. maybe she was being a little too overconfident, but her overconfidence was what made her, her. hero snorted at the redhead’s question, folding her arms across her chest. “you should know by now darling that there’s practically nothing in this world that i wouldn’t steal,” she told her. “so tell me: what do you want me to steal?”

for weeks upon weeks they’d been hiking through unknown territories, cities and towns they came across all the way from portland, only to find shelter in jackson. word got out they’d be safe there, there’d be a community there for them to join, a town with walls to keep them safe from harm. a spark of hope they’d agreed upon to finding. but with a group of twelve that only thinned out every single day by dangers other than the infected, obstacles on roads and the danger of the nights, it’d taken two months for that group to die down to a total of five. grief made it harder to continue, but giulia couldn’t not make it, if only in honor for the ones that had fallen. although she had no idea how much farther it was, she kept that hope alive every single night they took a break from going down roads. she swore she couldn’t feel her feet anymore, nor hear the ongoing rumbling of her stomach. but she knew her guardian angels would bring her there, the spirits of her family who kept her from harm. a pretty naive thought in the dangerous world it had become where laws and rules no longer mattered outside of communities.

and that night she fell asleep during her duty to keep watch, she never saw the group of people invade their space, take the little things they had left. along with their lives. except giulia’s. it was one’s scream that made her able to get up and sprint away without even knowing where she went. only a knife clasped in her hand, she must’ve ran for hours. fed by adrenaline and the inability to feel pain, she ended up crashing into a wall that made her stumble back and faintly see what looked like a gate. people approaching the watch towers, giulia was unable to form words or anything that made sense. she noticed the frowned gazes that weren’t directed at her face but rather down her body and the last thing she saw was the blood that had ran down from her stomach. one of the invaders had aimed for her heart but missed the moment giulia ran off in a hurry, cutting a gash right down instead, a pain giulia’s brain had blocked out together with the autumn’s shift to winter’s cold and made her pass right out in front of jackson’s gates.

After hearing the tone of the director’s voice as they screamed for the scene to cut for what feels like the hundredth time, Florence couldn’t stop the explosion from releasing her body. “Can we have a break? Like, I dunno, twenty minutes or something?” She sighed as soon as her words left her mouth, taking a few breaths as she tried her damnedest to compose herself. “I promise we’ll be better once we come back.” It was a long shot, but it worked. Within minutes, Florence had dragged the other back to her trailer before slamming the door shut behind her. “Grow the hell up,” she began, running frustrated fingers through her blonde locks as she groaned in anger. “We got cast together. It’s not my fault, it’s not your fault, it’s nobodies fuckin’ fault so please, for the love of everything holy, grow up and just talk to me like a human being so we can move past this.” It was hard enough having to deal with the pressure of being a new upcoming lesbian couple in a popular film franchise, but having to work with your ex-girlfriend? There weren’t books written to help Florence on how to deal with these feelings.

𝟏𝟎 .     INSPIRATION : :  most of the time it’s books or tv shows or movies, admittedly a lot of the time i want to emulate the feeling i get from a piece of media or i want to explore something my own way (read: i want to make it gay). music with lyrics that make me go bananas inspire me a lot so judge me all u want but fuck when taylor swift’s folklore came out i had such an influx of inspiration. sometimes i take things from real life too, a lot of my characters get their Parent Related Issues from me and my need to explore negative familial relationships.
