Page 6: Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen celebrated their 12-year anniversary, posting heartfelt tributes to each other on social media, but their relationship hasn't always been so rock solid -- Tom admitted that Gisele has made a lot of sacrifices for their marriage and she hated living in Boston because she had no friends there and felt so alone because Tom was never around; things got so bad they sought counseling, which was the wake-up call that Tom needed -- he promised to make changes and he agreed to quit the Patriots and sign with a team in a location that was more desirable to Gisele and Tom stuck to his word and he came the new quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and since moving to Florida, Tom and Gisele have never been happier and they have date nights every week and always make sure to communicate -- it wasn't easy, but they're both really proud of how far they've come
Page 7: After multiple delays, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc have finally filmed the highly anticipated Friends reunion special and they all got really emotional when they saw the set and being there brought back so many fond memories -- it's the first time in 17 years that fans will get to see the entire cast together since the show went off the air in 2004 -- afterwards, everyone went to Jen's house for dinner -- each of the stars was paid $2.5 million to appear in the special

* Becoming one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood has gone straight to Ana de Armas' head -- the cast and crew are often left waiting for the actress to emerge from her trailer on the set of the new action thriller The Gray Man -- Ana's got a lot going on and she's juggling several different projects, as well as photo shoots and phone calls with her team and people don't stay mad at her for too long, but they have nicknamed her Ana de Diva, but she isn't upset by the scathing moniker because she's a big name now, and with that comes a lot of responsibility and the way she sees it, there are worse things than being called a diva

Page 20: Pete Davidson has officially moved out of his mother's home and into a $1.2 million luxury high-rise condo on Staten Island, and it's all thanks to his new girl girlfriend, Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor -- the Saturday Night Live star showed off his two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom bachelor pad during a Zoom call -- Phoebe is a down-to-earth girl, but she doesn't want to date a man who lives in his mom's basement and she thinks Pete's mom, Amy, is awesome and says it's a great thing that they're super close, but being in a long-distance relationship is difficult enough so Pete and Phoebe need some alone time when they're together, which was almost impossible with his mother hanging out upstairs -- Pete knew it was time; he just needed that gentle nudge
Page 21: Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell were spotted in NYC together, sparking speculation that the former Bachelor couple have rekindled their relationship -- the pair parted ways while the show was still airing after photos of the graphic designer at a plantation-themed college party in 2018 surfaced on social media -- Rachael made a mistake but she owned up to it and was willing to learn from it and it didn't change her feelings for Matt or vice versa and Matt was in love with Rachael too and he couldn't just turn those feelings off so no one would be surprised if they decided to reconcile
* Michael B. Jordan's girlfriend Lori Harvey was left reeling over photos of the actor sharing a smooch with Chante Adams on the set of their new movie A Journal for Jordan -- of course, they were just shooting a scene for the film, but Lori was still annoyed and she asked Michael about it, and he brushed it off and explained it was part of the job but Lori still has her suspicions and she's been thinking about dropping by the set just so she can keep a very close eye on them

Page 28: Prince Harry overwhelmed with work -- Harry struggles to adjust after trading his cushy royal role for a variety of normal gigs -- though his job for BetterUp is primarily remote, added stress comes in the form of Harry's Spotify and Netflix deals, plus growing charity work -- Harry finds all of his new, non-royal titles fresh and exciting, but while he's a great person, some in his inner circle say Harry's kind of dumb and worry whether he can handle the pressure
Page 30: Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli life after prison -- reunited following months spent behind bars, Lori and Mossimo try to pick up the pieces -- prison definitely took a toll on Mossimo and he doesn't expect sympathy, but he's still struggling to adjust to what he went through; it really broke him down and forced him to reevaluate his life

EVE PLUMB
April 29, 1958
Tumblr media
Eve Aline Plumb was born April 29, 1958, in Burbank, California, to Flora June (née Dobry) and Neely Ben Plumb. She has one sister, Flora, and a brother, Ben She is best known for playing middle daughter Jan Brady on the sitcom “The Brady Bunch” (1969-74).  She reprised the role on numerous reunion series and films, including “The Brady Brides” (1981) and “A Very Brady Christmas” (1988).
Tumblr media
Plumb began appearing in commercials at age 7, and made her TV debut in a an episode of a sitcom titled “My Brother The Angel” aka “The Smothers Brothers Show.”  The series also featured “Lucy” cast members like Shirley Mitchell, Gail Bonney, Barbara Pepper, Jonathan Hole, Charles Lane, Tyler McVey, Alan Reed, Mary Treen, Tol Avery, Jesslyn Fax, Kathleen Freeman, Jay Novello, Ross Elliott, William Fawcett, Chick Chandler, Madge Blake, Eleanor Audley, Mabel Albertson, Roy Roberts, Rolfe Sedan, and Elvia Allman.  The series was created by Aaron Spelling.
Tumblr media
“The Brady Bunch” (1969-74) was a sitcom take on the blended family.  Plumb did all 117 episodes of the series, as well as returning as Jan for some (but not all) of the subsequent TV iterations, including “The Brady Kids” (animated), “The Brady Brides,” and “The Bradys”.
Tumblr media
Lucille Ball had tackled this same territory the year before in the 1968 feature film Yours, Mine and Ours. There were rumors that Lucy was being considered to play Carol Brady, but she opted to employ her own children in “Here’s Lucy” instead.  There was even legal action take against Brady producer, Sherwood Schwartz, regarding intellectual property, but it was settled before it came to court.
Tumblr media
Coincidentally, Sherwood Schwartz, creator of “The Brady Bunch” wrote the play “Mr. and Mrs.” that inspired Lucille Ball’s 1964 TV special of the same.
Tumblr media
Sherwood’s brother Al wrote for “Here’s Lucy” (although not the episode featuring Plumb)...
Tumblr media
and their other brother Elroy wrote a few episodes of “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
In 1972, Plumb became part of the Lucy family - literally - when she played Patricia Carter, Lucy Carter’s niece, in “Lucy and Donny Osmond” (HL  S5;E11) on “Here’s Lucy.”
Tumblr media
In the episode, Young Patricia had a crush on Donny Osmond, while Donny had a crush on Patricia’s older cousin Kim. Plumb filmed this episode simultaneously with “The Brady Bunch” which aired Friday nights on ABC while “Lucy” was seen Monday nights on CBS. This is her only time acting with Lucille Ball.
Tumblr media
Osmond, Bobby Sherman, and David Cassidy were the biggest pop stars for Tiger Beat magazine in the early 1970s. Naturally this “Here’s Lucy” episode got lots of press in the teen magazines.
Tumblr media
Coincidentally, over at the Brady home, Jan’s older sister Marcia had a crush on Desi Arnaz Jr. on a 1970 episode of “The Brady Bunch” and Arnaz guest-starred as himself – at the same time as he was playing Craig Carter on “Here’s Lucy.”
After growing up, Plumb continued to work in television, portraying a teenage prostitute in the NBC television film Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway (1976), and as Elizabeth March in the 1978 miniseries Little Women.
“I'll always be Jan Brady to so many people. I can't escape it, but I can do other things.” ~ Eve Plumb
In the 1990s, Plumb began painting, fashioning for herself a second artistic career. She works out of a studio at her Laguna Beach home.

All Out: The No-Longer-Secret Stories of Queer Teens Through the Ages edited by Saundra Mitchell (Review)
Pride day 12!
Check out the intro to my Pride project here.
Anthologies have been all the rage in YA for a little while now, and I know that there are many more on the horizon. But All Out is the one that means the most to me, and the one I have loved the most out of the many I have read. It is a collection of stories all about queer teens living, loving, and being happy, written by a variety of queer authors. I figured today I would share my full, detailed review of the book, and encourage all of you to pick up a copy of your own!
For those of you who don't know, I have been anticipating All Out: The No-Longer-Secret Stories of Queer Teens Through the Ages since the very first Publisher's Weekly announcement almost two years ago. Since that time, I have read more books by more of these authors, worked shortly for the agency that represents many of them, and generally fallen into a rabbit hole of anticipation that I can't believe I've finally pulled myself out of. It has been a long journey. And now I'm thrilled to talk more about each of these stories and my overall thoughts on this collection. ♡Story Reviews♡ ♡ Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore: 4/5 This was a brilliant start to the collection, and only solidified the love I have for Anna-Marie McLemore's writing. There is something so fierce and unyielding about her characters, and even in a few pages she was able to craft a deeply moving story full of characters and a world I instantly understood. I really appreciated her writer's note giving more context to the story, but overall I felt fully absorbed in the collection from page one. ♡The Sweet Trade by Natalie C. Parker: 2.5/5 In concept, this is brilliant. Two women run away from their husbands on the day of their weddings, steal boats, and happen to run into and fall for each other. However, in execution, I wasn't as big a fan. The story felt rushed, the romance uncompelling, and I was already forgetting it by the time it was over. ♡And They Don't Kiss at The End by Nilah McGruder: 3.5/5 I love stories set in the 70s, and this definitely delivered on that aesthetic element. The main character was sweet and I really liked the inclusion of a story with a character on the ace spectrum. It was a really nice story with a great setting, and I will 100% be on the lookout for more of Nilah's work. ♡Burnt Umber by Mackenzi Lee: 4/5 McKenzi Lee sure does know how to make me fall for an m/m pairing. This was hysterical and adorable, and without a doubt delivered on what I was expecting from this author. While I didn't love Gentleman's Guide, this renewed my confidence in Lee's writing and hyped me up for her book coming out in 2019. Seriously, blushing art boys falling in love softly with little bits of embarrassment thrown in? Exactly my cup of tea. ♡The Dresser and the Chambermaid by Robin Talley: 4/5 I will be the first to admit I have a huge weakness for palace drama, and I'm so glad at least one story in this collection gave it to me. While I have had my bouts in the past with queer characters in period palace shows and movies, this was finally what I've been looking for. The romance wasn't rushed, and the setting was excellent. I'm thinking I may have a particular fondness for Robin Talley when she writes shorter fiction, and I can't wait to read her story in Toil & Trouble after enjoying this as much as I did. ♡New Year by Malinda Lo: 3.5/5 So it turns out this is only part of what will be a full book by Malinda, which I suspected based on the summary of her next release, and I think that showed in the story itself. While it was nice, and I loved the setting of 1950s San Francisco, it felt incomplete and I'm excited to eventually read a deeper, more fleshed out version. ♡Molly's Lips by Dahlia Adler: 4.5/5 This was (I think?) the shortest story in the collection, but it absolutely blew me away. I mean.... Kurt Cobain? Best friends harboring secret crushes? Drama? I live for it all, and I can't believe this is the only thing I have ever read by Dahlia. My new goal is to read more of her work as soon as possible. ♡The Coven by Kate Scelsa: 3/5 I kind of expected more out of this story considering it was set in the 1920s, one of my favorite time periods to read about. I did love the witch element, and the setting, but it fell flat considering how many of my favorite things it was trying to deliver simultaneously. I will say I liked the very end of the story the best, though, and I think it made the whole thing feel like it had a solid landing. ♡Every Shade of Red by Elliot Wake: 3/5 Oh, how I have tried to love Elliot Wake. His writing is very, very flowery and metaphorical, which was something I knew back when I read Black Iris. But while I know a lot of people love his writing style, it ends up being sort of a slog for me to get through. The story underneath heavy-handed writing was fantastic, though. I love a good retelling, and a m/m retelling of Robin Hood with a trans Robin as the love interest was just a fantastic concept. ♡Willows by Scott Tracey: 2/5 I'll be honest, I don't have a very full idea of what happened in this story or what the particular queer rep even was. I think it was possibly going for a gender fluid or non-binary main character, but the entire thing was unnecessarily confusing. ♡The Girl With the Blue Lantern by Tess Sharpe: 4/5 Can I get a "hell yeah!" for prairie vibes, bringing it back to the historical fiction I consumed constantly as a kid? Honestly, this was fantastic. Clearly I was a fan of the setting, and the fantastical element was really well done. I'm usually not a fan of anthologies that aren't fantasy having stories with fantasy elements, but I loved this. The f/f romance was great, the writing was solid, and this is a story I would love to return to in the future. ♡The Secret Life of a Teenage Boy by Alex Sanchez: 4.5/5 I can't even fully describe why I love this story as much as I do, but even after just a few pages with the main character I got a little teary at the end? I do love the setting of a scorching porch in the summer and a stranger just wandering through who happens to catch the eye of a main character. I mean, I know that's a specific trope, but I love it. This wasn't a romance so much as a romance-to-aid-coming-of-age-narrative situation, but it was soft and quick and it just made me smile. ♡Walking After Midnight by Kody Keplinger: 2.5/5 I'll be honest, I had to flip back to this story later because I completely forgot what it was about, and that is the biggest problem. The romance doesn't feel earned, and the entire thing is just sort of a there-and-gone situation that I at no point felt particularly invested in. ♡The End of the World As We Know It by Sara Farizan: 3/5 First and foremost, I'm not that old so it was weird to read about a date I remember experiencing in a historical fiction collection? I mean, I was at a New Year's Eve party in December 1999. I know what that was like. But beyond that, I thought this story was nice. It didn't blow me away, but it was sweet and I did really like the New Year's Eve element. ♡Three Witches by Tessa Gratton: 3.5/5 I've upped my rating by half a star since I read this! There are multiple f/f witch stories in this collection, but I think this one is a bit stronger. The romance was wonderful, and I thought the magic was really off-kilter in a way that charmed me. I think the final POV kind of unsettled the rhythm of the story, but overall it was super enjoyable. ♡The Inferno & The Butterfly by Shaun David Hutchinson: 5/5 My absolute favorite story in this collection. As someone who lovesThe Prestige more than I would care to admit, the fact that SDH made it gay is??? Overwhelming??? I can't believe it?? I mean, battling magicians is great, but put a m/m romance at the center of it and my heart is completely yours. I want this to be a full novel. I would cry. ♡Healing Rosa by Tehlor Kay Mejia: 4.5/5 An incredibly solid conclusion to this collection, and it blows me away that Tehlor doesn't have a novel out yet. I know one is coming soon (and!! she's writing one with Anna-Marie McLemore!! I'm not even kind of ready wow!), but I'm anticipating it even more highly after this story. There was so much work done here that it felt like I got the content of a full book in only a few pages. It was profoundly emotional, and there is a deep connection to family and tradition, with this through-line of respect and romance that pulls the whole thing together. Overall, fantastic. ♡Overall Thoughts♡ Like any anthology, I would say this had its ups and downs, but it was a really solid collection that allowed me to read some incredible stories by authors I already love, and some by authors I can't wait to read more from. I do wish, like many other reviewers, that more stories would have been set outside the United States and Europe? I think it would have offered a greater variety in storytelling and really opened up the potential to see so many more stories of queer teens. But beyond that, I really had no complaints, and I feel like my months and months of anticipation were met with a beautiful collection of queer characters living their lives throughout time.
And that’s it for my review! Check out some of my other favorite reviews of this anthology by Elise, Kav, and Destiny. Also, add this book on Goodreads or purchase a copy of your own. Also, bear with me for the next couple of days of posts because I am about to get on an international flight to Australia, so I might be a tiiiiny bit scattered.

Lowest Totals of all 8 Teams in IPL
The 2020 Dream 11 IPL has been a rollercoaster ride so far and has provided plenty of drama to cricketing fans.
While it is true that any team can beat another team on any given day in the IPL, sometimes a franchise is totally outplayed. This not only shatters the morale of the players but also decimates their net run rate, which, in turn, will harm their chances of making it to the play-offs.
We take a stroll down memory lane and examine the lowest totals scored by the eight current IPL franchises in the 13-year long history of the IPL.
8) Sunrisers Hyderabad, IPL 2019: 96 runs against Mumbai Indians
Final Scores: MI: 136/7 (20 overs) SRH: 96/10 (17.4 overs)
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) replaced the now-defunct Deccan Chargers in 2013. Due to this, SRH has the shortest legacy among the eight franchises.
Though SRH went on to reach the finals of the 2019 edition, the season also featured their worst batting effort.
MI managed just 136/7 in their 20 overs as SRH's bowlers clicked as a unit.
In response, debutant Alzarri Joseph bowled the best figures in IPL history (12/6 in his 3.4 overs) to shock the world. Openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow put on 33 runs for the opening partnership, but it was all downhill from there.
7) Mumbai Indians, IPL 2011: 87 runs against Kings XI Punjab
Final Scores: KXIP: 163/8 (20 overs) MI: 87/10 (12.5 overs)
Here is a startling fact about this match:
Mumbai Indians gave away 22 extras during KXIP's innings. In response, Mumbai's highest scorer was Keiron Pollard with 17 (11).
KXIP's Bhargav Bhatt picked up four wickets in his 2.5 overs to crush the formidable MI line-up. Seven MI players scored single-digit scores as the current defending champions lost the match by 76 runs.
6) Chennai Super Kings, IPL 2013: 79 runs against Mumbai Indians
Final Scores: MI: 139/5 (20 overs) CSK: 79 (15.2 overs)
A gritty knock by captain Rohit Sharma (39* from 30) helped Mumbai Indians limp their way to 139/5 in their 20 overs. Turns out, it was more than enough.
The third over bowled by Mitchell Johnson resulted in just one run and three wickets as CSK found themselves in all sorts of trouble. Pragyan Ojha then returned to castle Micheal Hussey (22 from 26) and Ravindra Jadeja (20 from 16), who were the only CSK players to put up any kind of a fight.
An uncharacteristic CSK ultimately fell to a crushing 60-run loss at the hands of their Mumbai rivals.
5) Kings XI Punjab, IPL 2017: 73 runs against Rising Pune Supergiant
Final Scores: KXIP: 73 (15.5 overs) RPS: 78/1 (12 overs)
The penultimate league match of IPL 2017 saw KXIP crash and burn in spectacular fashion, which cost them a playoff spot.
KXIP needed to win convincingly to finish fourth in the points table. The pressure seemed to be too much for KXIP as none of their batsmen put up a substantial score. RPS rubbed salt in KXIP's wounds by cruising to victory and losing only one wicket in the process.
4) Kolkata Knight Riders, IPL 2008: 67 runs against Mumbai Indians
Final Scores: KKR: 67/10 (15.2 overs) MI: 68/2 (5.3 overs)
The Mumbai Indians were once again responsible for a franchise crashing to their lowest total.
The KKR batsmen seemed hapless as the MI bowlers, led by Shaun Pollock, ran through them. The KKR bowlers failed to replicate this feat as MI's Sanath Jayasuriya (48 from 17) made a mockery of the target.
KKR had beaten RCB by 140 runs courtesy of Brendon McCullum's 158*(73) in the first match of IPL 2008. Being bowled out for 67 in the same season displays the fickle nature of the T20 format.
3) Delhi Capitals, IPL 2017: 66 runs against Mumbai Indians
Final Scores: MI: 212/3 (20 overs) DC: 66/10 (13.4 overs)
The Mumbai Indians, again! This match saw a 146-run victory, the highest in IPL history in terms of runs.
MI opener Lendl Simmons scored 66 (43), which was the same as the whole Delhi Capitals team combined. MI spinners Harbhajan Singh (22/3) and Karn Sharma (11/3) spun a web around the DC batsmen, whose biggest partnership was a measly 14 runs for the third wicket.
2) Rajasthan Royals, IPL 2009: 58 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore
Final Scores: RCB: 133/8 (20 overs) RR: 58/10 (15.1 overs)
The IPL 2008 champions made a disastrous start to the title defense.
The ever-dependable Rahul Dravid (66 from 48) waged a lone battle against the RR bowling unit to help RCB to a competitive 133/8.
What RR did not take into account was a wily veteran named Anil Kumble. The lanky spinner returned with surreal figures of 5/5 in 3.1 overs, which included a maiden over. The RR batsmen dropped like flies as RCB romped home to a 75-run victory.
1) Royal Challengers Bangalore, IPL 2017: 49 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders
Final Scores: KKR: 131/10 (19.3 overs) RCB: 49/10 (9.4 overs)
RCB seemed to finally have gotten their act together in the 2017 IPL. A disciplined bowling attack had seen KKR bowled out for a sub-par 131 in front of a raucous Eden Garden crowd.
What followed was 45 minutes of absolute carnage. None of the RCB batsmen managed to reach double figures as Nathan Coulter-Nile, Chris Woakes, and Colin de Grandhomme took three wickets apiece. Umesh Yadav picked up the remaining one. This was the IPL's first and only sub-50 total.

NBA Free Agency Day 1 Review:
NBA fans went to sleep last night, awaiting to wake up to the much anticipated ‘Woj Bombs’ on Twitter this morning. In the past, day 1 of the NBA Free Agency period has usually been nothing exciting; rumours are spread, and the top tier players take time to make their decisions, making sure they make the correct one by meeting with the various teams that are set out to sign them. This year was completely different and special.
Kemba to give his all to Boston:
Kemba Walker has been one of the beloved players in the league by all fans. Playing on terrible teams for the last few years, he had given everything he had for the Hornets organisation, becoming the all-time leading scorer for them. Now he’s ready to begin his new chapter with the Boston Celtics who offer him much more than Charlotte ever did. Kemba is an All-Star and will continue to star with the Celtics. Replacing Kyrie is tough but after the toxic situation that was developed in his time there, they gain a new leader and calm body in Kemba Walker. He joins Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward and Jaylen Brown in an attempt to get out of the east and win a title. Losing Al Horford is a tough hole to cover, especially lacking depth at the centre position. Whilst it was a tough season for Boston, I expect them to return to be the dangerous team we expected them to be.
Brooklyn; The new Kings of New York:
Brooklyn are walking away as one of the biggest winners of this period. Signing superstars and past champions, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, puts them in a serious position for the upcoming NBA seasons. The pair also both agreed to take a salary that leaves them earning just below the max to help the team sign DeAndre Jordan, who is one of the league’s best rebounders and a former All-NBA First Team member. The Nets are now contenders, yet they will be going into the 2019-20 NBA Season without Durant after tearing his Achilles in this year’s NBA Finals. They’re going to be good, potentially a top four seed and once Durant returns to the team, they will be even scarier.
It is crazy how far the Nets have come from five years ago when Billy King traded away everything to the Celtics, leaving them with no picks, eventually becoming the laughing stock of the league. It has been the culture that this team has built over the last few years that has been the main role in recruiting these two superstars to the team. Kenny Atkinson has been a fantastic coach for them and has developed their young core that includes the likes of the ‘Fro’ Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert. The future is bright for the Barclays Centre. An incredible feat to say the least.
Tumblr media
Warriors D-Load:
The best team in the NBA was looking to be done and dusted when Durant left for nothing. The formidable super team that was the Golden State Warriors have been the villains for so long, that people were happy to see this team broken up however this only lasted a few hours. In a move that no-one saw happening, Golden State and the Brooklyn Nets agreed to a sign and trade for D’Angelo Russell, the 23-year-old All Star who had a great season last year leading the Nets to the 6thseed in the Eastern Conference. The acquisition of Russell led to the team having to trade one of the hearts and souls of the dynasty, Andre Iguodala to Memphis to avoid being in the hard cap. Iggy is a key player who is going to be missed come playoff time.
The team also resigned sharpshooter and elite defender Klay Thompson to a max deal worth $190 million over the next five years. Klay is likely to miss next season with a torn ACL but is a key piece of the Warriors organisation. Just when you thought this team was down and out, they come back with an All Star to replace a hole in their side. You have to wonder where D-Lo fits on this team once Klay returns so a potential trade for more fitting pieces could be a future possibility.

Fans of the Garden losing faith; time for Dolan to go?
It wasn’t long ago when the fans of the New York Knicks were excited for this time of year; considered a huge chance to get the number 1 pick, Zion Williamson as well as the seeming frontrunners to sign both KD and Kyrie. The team has been in shambles since trading their best asset for the last decade, Kristaps Porzingis, in the hope that it would all come together with the pieces fitting into place. Unfortunately for the Knicks and their fans, it’s been nothing but the complete opposite.
It all began when the Knicks struck out in the lottery, falling to the number 3 pick in the draft. Drafting R.J Barrett seems to be a fantastic selection as he is going to be a stud in the league but missing out on the messiah that is Zion crushed their fans. Today, the team didn’t sign either of Durant or Kyrie and missed out on all the top free agents that they’d guaranteed would be a part of the organisation. If it couldn’t get any worse, the team wasn’t even willing to offer a max contract to KD which fans didn’t take too kindly to. The team walked away from day 1, signing three power forwards which doesn’t make too much sense; Julius Randle, Bobby Portis and Taj Gibson. Knicks President Steve Mills literally issued an apology to the fans of the Garden stating,
"While we understand that some Knicks fans could be disappointed with tonight's news, we continue to be upbeat and confident in our plans to rebuild the Knicks to compete for championships in the future, through both the draft and targeted free agents,".
You know you have failed if you have to write to your fans an apology. Knicks fans are fed up with the direction the organisation has taken whilst being led by James Dolan and you have to question his future and whether or not it is time for him to sell the team.
Philly make the big moves- but have they gotten better?
The Sixers began the day on a high-note, signing Tobias Harris to a five-year deal worth $180 million. Not long after, they completed a sign-and-trade with Miami for Jimmy Butler, receiving Josh Richardson in return who is a very nice piece for the team and should fit comfortably in the team’s structure. The deal is on hold for the time being, but it seems likely that it will get done within the next day as Miami is working with the Mavs to help get the deal done.
In a move out of nowhere, the team also acquired Al Horford on a four-year deal, who has joined the enemy moving from the Sixers rival that is Boston. Both J-Rich and Horford are excellent players and are both elite defenders. Horford has been the ‘Embiid stopper’ for the past few seasons, so Joel can battle with him rather than against him in the upcoming season.
Can this new line-up compete for the title next year after losing their second-best player and key shooter J.J Redick is the real question? Horford and Richardson will help space the floor and bring a new level of defence that is already being led at the front by Embiid. For the money that Harris just got paid, he will need to play at a higher level for the team to compete this upcoming season.
Jimmy Butler headed to South Beach… not just yet:
It was reported that the Miami Heat had completed a sign-and-trade with the Sixers to gain star two-way player Jimmy Butler for Miami’s best player Josh Richardson however currently it appears that the third team involved, the Dallas Mavericks, want Derrick Jones. Jr to be a part of the deal but Miami are reluctant to move him. Whilst this is causing problems, it is safe to assume that Butler will be in a Miami uniform very soon.
Miami is in a good position and there are rumours of the team making a big play for Washington All-Star Bradley Beal who would be a great asset for the team. With the likes of young talent that includes Bam Adebayo and Justise Winslow, as well as a lot of money coming off the books for Miami in 2020, the team’s future is bright. Hopefully, first-round pick Tyler Herro can also provide for the team. The trade to acquire Butler could be the start of a return to the top for South Beach.

Pelicans looking better than ever, even without Anthony Davis:
David Griffin is a magician; he landed the number 1 pick Zion Williamson, traded superstar Anthony Davis for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, the number 8 pick Jaxson Hayes, pick 17 Nickeil Alexander-Walker and three future first-rounders. Not only does he gain these pieces, but he also opens up enough cap space for a near max contract.
With this cap space, the team traded for a solid veteran in Derrick Favors from the Jazz and also signed one of the best shooters in the league, J.J Redick. Throw in the two-way player that the Pelicans already own in Jrue Holiday and this team is better than any of the teams AD was ever a part of. This Pelicans team has length, athleticism and youth; if you’re a Pelicans fan, you can’t help but be excited and proud of the direction this team is taking. They’re going to be fun to watch.
Is Utah really being slept on for a potential competitor for the title?
The Jazz have finally added someone to take the pressure off Donovan Mitchell come playoff time in the form of Mike Conley, who is a great ball handler as well as an excellent defender, which we know has been the culture Quin Snyder has built in Utah. The team also signed Bojan Bogdanovic and added elite rebounder, Ed Davis, to backup two-time defensive player of the year Rudy Gobert.
I think people are getting carried away with the defensive potential of this team- don’t get me wrong, they’re going to be the number one ranked defence in the league, but I question whether they have gotten that much better to compete for a title. The team lost Ricky Rubio, Jae Crowder, Kyle Korver and Derrick Favors, all who have been contributors for the team in recent seasons. All players they acquired are upgrades, but is it enough to get past the second round? The West is now an open playing field and perhaps they’re the team to push through.
Where will the Board Man get paid?
The biggest question leading up to this free agency period was where will Kawhi Leonard sign? Kawhi held off any contract talks today with it being reported that he will begin his search for a team tomorrow. The race all but seems to be down to three teams; the Clippers, Lakers and the Raptors.
Before free agency began, the Clippers looked a very good chance to sign him. Kawhi has wanted to return to California for some time and the Clippers have a great coach in Doc Rivers and a promising, young team. However, with almost all the top free agents off the board, if Kawhi was to head there, he would be going alone. Whilst still a possibility, it is seeming less likely for Clippers fans that he will join the team.
The Lakers offer a potential three headed monster that would include LeBron, Anthony Davis and Kawhi, which would be absolutely scary for the league. The team would almost be certain favourites for the title, with rumours of adding Andre Iguodala if he is bought out by Memphis as well as signing Rajon Rondo for the minimum. It has been reported that LeBron has been in touch with Kawhi but you have to wonder if Kawhi really wants to be the second or third option on a team. The Lakers are the growing favourites but are still no guarantee to sign him.
And finally, there’s the Raptors. The team who he just won a championship with. So why would Kawhi leave? The reports of him wanting to return home is a strong indication that he wants to go to a team in Los Angeles and if that was to happen, he’s given the nation of Canada more than they could ever ask for. He could also return to the team and continue to build with his teammates a potential dynasty for the future in Toronto.
Day 1 of the 2019 NBA Free Agency was explosive, exciting and is building a strong and intriguing narrative for the 2019-20 Season. We wait and see where the remaining free agents will land for the upcoming season.

Australia bowler James Pattinson has Big Ben tattoo and says it’s time to strike against England
Australia's fast bowler James Pattinson is a Grimsby fan with a Big Ben tattoo but is ready to strike against England in the Ashes
James Pattinson from Australia is wearing his heritage on his sleeve on the Ashes
Pattinson's father is English and the bowler has a Big Ben tattoo on his arm
His brother Darren also played for England in a test game in Headingley in 2008
James fought through injury problems to return to international battle
His performance in Southampton can give him a start at Edgbaston on Thursday
By Richard Gibson for the Daily Mail

James Pattinson is the fast-paced bowler with his heart in Australia's quest for the ashes but with its origin on its sleeve.
Thursday he is expected to play against England, the land of his father John and for whom older brother Darren made a test appearance. His last Ashes test was six years ago and in the meantime he has added a picture of Big Ben to the tattoo montage that adorns his left arm.
"When I was young, I just loved it. Dad and I got the bus tour around London and it was always one of my favorite things to do & said the 29-year-old.
Australia Fast Bowler James Pattinson is determined to win the Ashes in England
& # 39; My favorite David Beckham because Dad let me watch the English soccer team all the time. When Beckham had that painted mohawk, I also got one. & # 39;
Pattinson refuses to forget the roots of his family and has returned to Lincolnshire since childhood to visit aunts and uncles. He still follows Grimsby Town and took on their League Two game against Notts County in April during his most recent stint as overseas player of Nottinghamshire. I went alone. It was ice cold and we lost. & # 39;
For him, despite England as a footballer with England, there are still none of the split loyalty with which Darren is still confronted when the biggest rivals of international cricket meet.
]
James Pattinson celebrates after taking the Marnus Labuschagne wicket in Southampton
& # 39; When I started playing for Australia still went to England and I thought, "You can't do that." He may now be Australia's 51-49, but he still has a weakness for England. Hopefully he supports me while playing. & # 39;
Darren & # 39; s 15 minutes on the international scene was defeated in 2008 against South Africa in Headingley and James said: & # 39; I'm not sure if he enjoyed it too. a lot of. It is a strange situation and quite special. Not many brothers have played for different countries. & # 39;
For Pattinson to summarize a test career after a break of more than three years, a major triumph will represent. He had a radical operation on a part of his back in November 2017. He was broken four times.
The odds that Pattinson is wearing the baggy green at Edgbaston have been improved weekly
& # 39; There is a bit of titanium in it, although I don't squeak when I go through the airport scanners, & # 39; he said. "They put in a few screws and a few wires just to try and get a little bit of reinforcement.
"I was at the end of my chain and thought:" I have to try something else ". We went down the road to undergo surgery and it was a long process that came back. The first few months I was painful and stiff. I just had to restart my body with basic things like stretching, and it was almost eight months before I played a game.
"It is great to be back in the Australia team. I made my debut eight years ago so it's been a while. I haven't played too many tests, although it looks like I did when you see my baggy green. It was tucked away for a while, so just to put it back, even just for photo shoots, it's pretty exciting. & # 39;
James Darren (right) represented England against South Africa in Headingley in 2008
The chances that he pulled that cap on Edgbaston on Thursday have improved every week and those who saw his performance in the internal test competition in Southampton last week have listed him as one of the first names on the team magazine.
He certainly peaks at the right time with Jofra Archer-like speed and Glenn McGrath-like accuracy just a few days in the back, taking seven for 77 in a crushing tour victory over Sussex.
For this he credits more English friends – those at Trent Bridge who have re-signed him two years after collecting 32 scalps in five championship games.
Pattinson poses with the ashes in Southampton after the Australia team is announced
I have had three and a half months here and I have ironed a few things. When I first came, there were one or two bad balls and more, & says a man who would break apart the pace-triumvirate of the Aussies 2017-18 of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins.
& # 39; My consistency is really good, but the big thing was to get through a 40-overs game because it was the first time I had done it since my surgery. It is good to know that I could do that, because when you play Test cricket you are asked to do so much bowling. I now have great confidence that my body can. County cricket has exposed me to the bowling of a number of overs that I had not completed before.
"There is talk of a bowler-friendly Ash, but we certainly do not expect that. We expect heavy work and think we have to throw a lot of overs and hit good areas time and time again to take 20 wickets. & # 39;

Australia (AUS)
David Warner and Aaron Finch are in prime form for Australia and showing just how dangerous their side can be. The return of Marcus Stoinis to the playing eleven also means that overall balance for the side is better. They can now play Usman Khawaja at number three without having to accommodate Shaum Marsh in the lower order. Warner, Finch, Khawaja, and Smith are a very strong top-4. They look stronger than England at the moment and that is something that should scare all the other teams. With Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Alex Carey in the middle-order, there is no shortage of six-hitting power in this team either. David Warner and Mitchell Starc have been the two biggest match winners for Australia so far. Warner’s new more measured approach to batting is allowing him to play with an unbelievable amount of consistency. Mitchell Starc, on the other hand, has just relied on fast toe-crushing yorkers to get him the wickets. Both of these players also have a very good record against England and will come into this match with a point to prove. One of the few weaknesses for Australia in this tournament has been its team selection. They have refused to pick Nathan Lyon in the playing eleven but may want to re-consider that against England since they have struggled against spin. So far, the idea has been to use Glenn Maxwell as the fifth bowler. Australia needs to ensure that Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell are at their best otherwise the 20 overs from Maxwell, Stoinis, and Zampa provide plenty of scoring opportunities for the opposition. It was just a couple of months ago when Australia’s ODI team was being ridiculed and England was getting all the accolades. Now, the two teams are going to play against each other in an important ICC World Cup 2019 match with Australia the better-settled team.

Updated News and  Expected 11 of
England (ENG)
Wins against the West Indies, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan demonstrated one side of England's cricket while the misfortunes to Sri Lanka and Pakistan demonstrated another. Britain does not require any additional inspiration for this match against Australia however at this point a lot is on the line, it will intrigue perceive how they turn up. Everybody anticipates that England should win and they are playing at home so it is reasonable the measure of investigation they are under. There is additionally a feeling of approaching fate by a nation that has seen its cricket group fall to pieces on a few events. Will the stun misfortune against Sri Lanka open up a portion of these old injuries? Britain has played an extremely high-beat type of cricket as far back as its lamentable 2015 crusade. Presently, its whole group has been set-up to be forceful from the begin. This is a strategy that functions admirably when the pitch is level for batting and there isn't a lot of riding on the result. Sadly for England, it seems like the pitches will get slower as the competition advances and the weight is just going to increase. This is the reason England needs to demonstrate more adaptability than it has up until this point. It is vague if Jason Roy will be accessible for the match against Australia and his proceeding with nonattendance is a major stress for England. Indeed, even without Roy, there is a ton of batting capability in the England side with the most significant batsman being Joe Root. As the main player whose common game is fit to thumping the ball around, his prosperity is crucial to the England group's prosperity. Root and Morgan are the players that have had a great deal of progress against Australia as of late and the ones that we accept are going to test this Australian side once more. The accomplishment of Jofra Archer in the competition so far has additionally made him a significant player. How he performs against Warner and Finch at the highest point of the request will be urgent also. We don't envision any adjustments in England's playing eleven for this match.

New Release Roundup, 21 July 2018: Science Fiction
A latent psychic swears a vendetta against the aliens who invaded his home, a team of lawyers must prevent the ruin of two galaxies, and mecha mercenaries The Four Horsemen and Wardogs, Inc. both return to action in this week’s roundup of the newest releases in science fiction.
Battle Harem #1 – Isaac Hooke
Jason was a little short on creds so he decided to get his mind scanned. It seemed like a good idea at the time: get paid to license a copy of your mind for use in one of the numerous machines that run society. What could go wrong?
Turns out, a lot.
Jason wakes up in the middle of the radioactive wasteland that was created fifty years ago when aliens destroyed half the Earth. He has no idea why he’s here, or what the hell he’s supposed to do. Worst of all, he’s no longer human: his consciousness has been installed into the AI core of a state-of-the-art war machine, a mech with enough firepower to raze a small city.
Hunted by mutated alien bioweapons, Jason travels the wasteland in an attempt to piece together what happened. Along the way he encounters a few abandoned war machines that also have no memory of their mission, machines that can’t decide whether they want to join him or kill him. It doesn’t help that in VR they all look like super hot women.
Sometimes it’s tough being a machine.
When Jason and his new companions discover what they’re truly capable of, however, everything changes. And not necessarily for the better.
Dark Moon Arisen (The Four Horsemen Cycle: The Omega War #3) – Chris Kennedy and Mark Wandrey
The Omega War is in full swing. Earth has fallen to General Peepo’s army, and the surviving Human mercenaries have taken refuge at the hidden Winged Hussars’ base in New Warsaw.
On Earth, the defensive forces fight to keep the hearts and minds of their fellow Humans, but Peepo’s plans are slowly converting the people to her way of thinking, and the Mercenary Guild troops continue to root out the forces arrayed against them.
Outnumbered and on the run, the situation is bleak, but none of the Horsemen like being on the defensive. When they get intelligence that Peepo is massing resources at a secret base, they decide to launch a decisive counterattack that may open Earth up to recapture.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sato, the Hussar’s brilliant but unpredictable scientist, unwittingly reactivates a 20,000-year-old doomsday weapon with a mind of its own. If it can’t be stopped, all the Four Horsemen’s plans might become meaningless.
Forces are moving both in the shadows and in the light, but who will rise victorious? One thing is for sure…a Dark Moon has Arisen.
The Fall of Heaven – David S. Grunwell
In the wondrous megacity of Heavensport, robots do all the work allowing its three-quarters of a billion inhabitants free to pursue their passions.
Unfortunately for Rolland Newcastle, someone’s passion is to kill him. Stripped of his wealth, technology, and connections, is this the start of a worldwide purge?
Rolland inherited his troubles from his ancestors, the legal owners of the beautiful planet of New Jerusalem. After cryrosleeping for 223 years, they found that technological advances had allowed squatters’ ships to make the journey in just 3.5 years.
Arriving 200 years later, they found an established world that didn’t want them. The Fall of Heaven was just the start.
Forbidden Sanctuary (Star Lawyers #2) – Tom Shepherd
What terrible secrets will Tyler Matthews and his Star Lawyers discover within the Forbidden Sanctuary on the mysterious, sacred planet Adao-2?
Can the legal team from Matthews Interstellar Industries learn the truth in time to save M-double-I’s century-long quest to open Jump Gate Omega, bridge the 2.5 million light years to the Andromeda galaxy, and prevent economic ruin and war in the Milky Way?
While Tyler, J.B., Rosalie and Lucy (her shapeshifter cat) battle pirates and religious fanatics, Suzie and her holographic A.I. colleagues—former ladies of the night, re-purposed as legal assistants and starship crew– face an even deadlier foe. This unknown enemy threatens to delete all the starship Patrick Henry’s programs and terminate their existence forever.
To make matters worse, Cousin Esteban languishes in prison on Suryadivan Prime, where the former Catholic monk faces a death sentence for crimes he did not commit.
Galactic War (The Pike Chronicles #9) – G. P. Hudson
A crumbling empire. A galactic crusade. Humanity rising to power. Hidden enemies waiting to strike.
Eight years have passed since the Builders and the Dark Ones left the galaxy. In that time, Jon Pike has scored successive victories against the Juttari. Once he drives them out of Diakan space, his forces will be poised to finally strike at the heart of the ruthless Juttari Empire.
But, an unseen power is emerging from the shadows, threatening to destroy all of Jon Pike’s progress and plunge humanity into a new galactic war. Old enemies also continue to pose a deadly threat to the Admiral. Can Jon Pike avoid disaster for himself, humanity and the galaxy?
I Am Justice (The Frontiers Saga: Rogue Castes #9) – Ryk Brown
A chance to gain resources…
A need to prepare a defense…
A trap about to be sprung…
An opportunity for justice…
As his sister faces a critical moment, Captain Scott must chase his friends to regions he has yet to travel.
Sometimes, you just have to take risks for those you care about. Sometimes, quite often.
Incoming – Kevin Orr
The year is 2029, and World War III, which lasted all of 61 minutes, is history.
Nuclear combat destroyed all life on the surface of Earth, relegating mankind to a life underground.
Farrow Lind is tired of living like an insect.
He longs to join the select surface forces, the only group which ever sees daylight.
But when his squad veers off course, he finds himself entangled in the biggest conspiracy in the history of the human race.
“Don’t wanna give the story away but it doesn’t just have plots twists, the whole story is one huge plot twist.” – Amazon Reader Review
The Long-Range War (A Learning Experience #5) – Christopher G. Nuttall
The gloves have finally come off…
The Tokomak, the unquestioned masters of the galaxy, have dispatched a massive fleet to crush the Solar Union – and the fledgling Galactic Alliance – before the human race and its alien allies can tear the galactic order asunder. Hundreds of thousands of starships under the command of an alien tactical genius, bent on exterminating the entire human race…the darkest hour is truly at hand.
Admiral Hoshiko Stuart has a plan. The Solar Union will dispatch a fleet of its own, with the objective of smashing the alien fleet before it reaches Sol. But, as human technology clashes with alien treachery, experience and sheer numbers, it becomes clear that there can be only one victor…
…And whoever loses will lose everything.
Metal Monsters (Quantum Mortis: Wardogs, Inc. #3) – G. D. Stark
All war is murder for profit.
Some people are just more open about it.
WARDOGS INCORPORATED is one of the largest and most professional mercenary corporations operating in the Kantillon subsector. If you need a bodyguard, an assassination team, or an armored cavalry regiment complete with air support, Wardogs Inc. can provide it for you… for a very steep price.
The Stratocracy of Sfodria has ruled over its people with a very large steel fist for centuries. The giant mechs piloted by their nobles are all but invulnerable and have long served as the aristocratic shield against Sfodria’s enemies. But recently, their indestructible knights have been falling in battle at an unprecedented rate, and no one knows why. Desperate to reverse the fortunes of war before their nation falls to their hereditary enemy, the Stratocracy turns to Wardogs Inc. to train their ineffective and long-ignored militia.
Tommy Falkland and his fellow Wardogs aren’t on the job long before they begin to realize that they may be in well over their pay grade, as they are not dealing with a conventional human threat.
The Pride of the Damned (Cochrane’s Company #3) – Peter Grant
The shadow war started as a simple contract to defend a system against asteroid thieves. The harder Andrew Cochrane and Hawkwood Security fought, the worse things became. Now they find themselves embroiled in an interstellar war with an entire mafia!
Worse yet, the proceedings are so profitable – not to mention bloody – that they’ve attracted the attention of some of the worst criminal organizations in the galaxy. If Hawkwood is to survive, it’ll need all the wits, cunning and ingenuity it can muster – and the unwavering courage and dedication of its people.
The galaxy’s not big enough for both sides. One or the other will go to the wall.
Rogue Pilot (Space Scout #3) – Will Macmillian Jones
Frank Eric Russell was a Captain in The Free Union’s Space Corps, until a series of unfortunate events left him disgraced, dismissed and disgruntled. Now a renegade in an outdated scoutship, he makes a living on the margins of the galaxy in any way he can.
But Frank’s past is catching up with him. The Chief Enforcer of the decaying Galactic Empire, the fearsome Colonel Starker, wants to make Frank a horrible example to the rest of the galaxy of the penalties of crossing his path. The Followers of The Mad God Zog are not pleased by the damage to their holy space station that Frank caused when he escaped from their indoctrination program in a previous novel and want their revenge; and worst of all his old boss wants him back – to carry out some more life-threatening missions for him.
As he flies his elderly Speedbird across the less reputable parts of the galaxy, Frank finds himself living in interesting times…
Shadows of Divinity (The Enochian War #1) – Luke R. Mitchell
Enochia is compromised. The Sanctum. The Legion. The whole damn planet.
Carlisle calls them the raknoth. Red-eyed demons from Alpha knows where. He says they’re aliens. But then again, he also moves things with his freaking mind—a gift he swears lies dormant in me as well—so I’m starting to get a little unclear on what I can and can’t believe anymore. And I know what you’re thinking. A few days ago, I wouldn’t have believed me either.
Then I watched the High General of the Alpha-damned Legion sprout red eyes and tear my parents to bloody pieces.
I don’t know what the raknoth want. I don’t know how they’ve taken control of Enochia without anyone noticing. All I know is that they picked the wrong planet to screw with. Now, I have some questions. And a High General to kill.
My name is Haldin Rais, and I’m going to make them pay…
Target: Earth (Extinction Wars #5) – Vaughn Heppner
What if you could right your greatest regret?
Creed wishes he’d never left Jennifer behind in a dark and alien dimension where Abaddon transformed her into a superhuman killer. Creed helped kill Abaddon and put Jennifer in the Curator’s care—the only one with the hope of healing her—but guilt still gnaws at Creed.
Then one day Jennifer escapes from the Curator, with the pain of her lover’s abandonment driving her. She plans to hurt Creed like he hurt her, by destroying what he has worked so hard to save—the Earth.
When Creed learns this, he breaks his oath as the Galactic Effectuator, steals an advanced stealth ship, phase suit and weapons from the Curator and races home.
Time and incredibly deadly aliens under Jennifer’s control fight Creed. He desperately needs the help of Rollo, Ella and N7 if he hopes to protect humanity and right the greatest wrong of his life by saving Jennifer from the evil Abaddon has done to her.

IPL 2018: Struggling Kolkata Knight Riders set to meet Ravichandran Ashwin's Kings XI Punjab in crucial encounter
Indore: Deflated after a crushing defeat against Mumbai Indians in the previous encounter, Kolkata Knight Riders will be aiming to pick up pieces when they face Kings XI Punjab in an IPL encounter on Saturday.
It is not easy to recover quickly if the margin of defeat is as huge as 102 runs but KKR do not have the luxury of slipping further against a team that has one of the most formidable batting line-ups in this edition of the league.
With 10 points from 11 games, tomorrow’s game is a must-win encounter for Dinesh Karthik and his men if they want to keep their play-off chances alive.
For Kings XI Punjab, the game against Rajasthan Royals turned out to be a proverbial banana peel as they lost by 15 runs chasing a modest target of 159.
The defeat led to unverified reports of rift between franchise co-owner Preity Zinta and Director of Cricket Virender Sehwag, something that the franchise denied in an official statement.
With 12 points from 10 games, KXIP are in a tricky situation. A win will take them closer to play-offs but a defeat will mean that Mumbai Indians will be breathing down their neck.
For KXIP, KL Rahul with 471 runs (from 10 games) have had a fabulous season so far while Chirs Gayle (311 from 7 games) has also been in imperious form in some of the matches. However the trouble has been lack of contribution from other batsmen in the team.
Karun Nair (243 runs in 10 games) has had a decent run so far but biggest disappointment has been Mayank Agarwal (118 runs in 9 matches). Agarwal came into the IPL after enjoying his best domestic season, having plundered runs across formats.
However it has not translated into significant contribution.
Veteran Yuvraj Singh has been benched by the team management after scoring only 64 runs in 7 games and his replacement Manoj Tiwary has not yet set the stage on fire.
KKR on the other hand has suffered due to some bizarre team selection with clear indication that the management didn’t get it right while zeroing in on domestic talent.
Rinku Singh has been given four chances and the UP batsman has looked clearly out of place in the big league.
He is far from a finished product and will need time to measure up. Nitish Rana’s (240 runs) form has tapered off as his poor technique against short ball has been exposed thoroughly. Among bowlers, KKR has suffered as spinners Piyush Chawla (11 wickets) and Kuldeep Yadav (8 wickets) have been very costly with economy rate close to 9 runs.
KKR will hope that both Shubman Gill and Shivam Mavi, who are important in their scheme of things get fit for tomorrow’s game.
The other problem has been inconsistent form of senior players. Chris Lynn (298 from 11 games) and Robin Uthappa (273 from 11 games) have been decent but not spectacular on most days.
Sunil Narine (13 wickets and 202 runs) have been their impact player with Andre Russell (218 runs) not being even close to his best after an early game against KKR.
Squads
Kolkata Knight Riders: Dinesh Karthik (C), Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Kuldeep Yadav, Piyush Chawla, Nitish Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Shivam Mavi, Mitchell Johnson, Shubman Gill, R. Vinay Kumar, Rinku Singh, Cameron Delport, Javon Searless, Apoorv Wankhade, Ishank Jaggi, Tom Curran.
Kings XI Punjab: Ravichandran Ashwin (captain), Chris Gayle, Aaron Finch, KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Mohit Sharma, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Barinder Sran, David Miller, Andrew Tye, Ankit Rajpoot, Axar Patel, Akshdeep Nath, Mayank Agarwal, Manoj Tiwary, Yuvraj Singh, Marcus Stoinis, Mayank Dagar.

Macabre Movie Mausoleum: It Follows
Do you smell it gravediggers and undertakers? Halloween is just around the corner and we here at Geekade are gearing up for our annual 31 Days of Halloween. Until then, we have to slough through September, which feels like nothing more than a transition month bridging summer and Halloween.
I wanted to review this movie some time ago, but I felt I needed to wait a little longer and put some distance between it. (That and Dan Ryan did a writeup on it for Geekade’s first 31 Days of Halloween. He had a... different opinion of this film). The Macabre Movie Mausoleum isn’t for fresher bodies, I mean movies, but I feel it’s time to review IT… Follows.
It Follows (2014)
Director: David Robert Mitchell
Starring: Maika Monroe, Keir Gilchrist, and Olivia Luccardi
I really want to give this movie points for originality, but it is so clearly, too obviously, an allegory for safe sex, it just hurts the overall feeling of the movie. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
The movie opens with a girl in a nightgown and high heels running out of her house, and she runs in an awkward circle telling anyone who asks, including her father that she’s ok: she’s not. The girl runs back into her house, apparently has time to grab car keys but not any other clothing. She drives off into the night and we later see her sitting on a beach, talking to her dad on the phone, apologizing for being such a bitch. Then she’s dead, horribly disfigured.
Great start to the movie. I really wish, I had gone into this not knowing what it was about, but that knowledge doesn’t take away from the opening. The tension was revved up from the beginning, and gave the hope that it would last for the entire movie… it did not.
The movie proper starts, and we meet the main character Jamie “Jay” and her boyfriend (I think) Hugh, on a date. While in line for the movies they play this stupid game of one guessing who in the area the other would want to trade places with. Sound confusing? That’s because it’s stupid. Hugh says he’d want to be a little boy getting popcorn with his parents because he’s still so innocent. They talk about him being able to piss in a diaper whenever he wants, but the kid is like 6 years old, no way he should still be in a diaper. When it’s Hugh’s turn to guess they are now sitting in the theater, and he guesses Jay picks a girl walking towards them in a yellow dress. However, Jay can’t see her, despite Hugh assuring her that this girl is in clear view of them. When Jay confirms there’s no one there, Hugh gets scared and rushes Jay out of the theater saying he doesn’t feel well.
Sometime later, the two go on another date, and have sex in Hugh’s car. Before Jay can even catch her breath, he knocks her out with chloroform (where the hell does a teen/early 20 kid get this shit?) and she wakes up in her underwear tied to a wheelchair.
The next 10-15 minutes are Hugh explaining all the rules of the movie without any sustenance. He tells Jay that he’s passed a curse onto her when they had sex, and that “it” will walk to her wherever she goes, and will kill her once she catches her, then move back down the line of Sexually Transmitted Demon positive people. Her only hope would be to pass it on to someone else, and hope they pass it on and live longer enough that it doesn’t catch up to her. The demon can look like anyone it wants including even people she knows.
When they see it following Jay, Hugh drives her home, and basically pleads for her to live a long life before he drives off. We’re left wondering how and when this originated, how Hugh knows so much about it, and if it goes all the way back to the beginning and kills the first person, what happens then?
This is also a good time to mention that “It Follows” is one of those horror movies that doesn’t have parents at all involved in their kids’ lives.
After a 30 second police investigation, they learn that Hugh was using a fake name, but that’s it.
The next day in school, Jay sees an old man walking through the school in a hospital gown, and she runs to her older sister’s job. Their friends gather and decide to spend the night with Jay. So, again, without adult supervision, teen girls are having a sleepover with a boy. I’ll be damned if they were my kids.
There’s a crash at the kitchen window, but Paul (I think that’s his name) doesn’t see any thing when he goes to check. Jay sees a 20 something female, completely disheveled and pissing herself. So to prove “Scream” right, she runs up the stairs, instead of out the house, and locks herself in a room. In what would have been one of the few genuinely scary moments of the movie, if the trailer hadn’t given it away, as she cautiously lets her friends into the room, a tall skinny white guy with sunken-in eyes makes his way in.
Jay escapes through a window, and drives to a park to spend the night. Doesn’t seem like the best option, but she survives long enough for her friends to find her. They all drive to Greg’s family’s lake house. (Greg is a neighbor who doesn’t believe any of this). While hanging out on the beach, the curse catches up to Jay and attacks her by pulling her hair. Since the others can’t see it, all they notice is Jay’s hair standing up awkwardly. (another scene ruined by the trailer) Paul tries to help, but gets punched a dozen or so feet away. Jay makes her way into a boat house with a gun, and is able to shoot it. The STD drops to the ground, but quickly recovers and resumes its attack taking the form of different people.
Attempting to escape again, Jay steals Greg’s car and drives away, leaving her friends behind. Unfortunately, she crashes into a corn field and breaks her arm. She wakes up in a hospital surrounded by her friends and her mother (one of three scenes with a parent I believe).
Later that night, still in the hospital, Greg admits to Jay he still doesn’t believe any of this because he was pissing in the bushes when the attack at the beach happened. Somehow this leads to them having sex, and now Greg is cursed.
Safe for the remainder of the night and the following day, until Jay sees from her bedroom window, Greg walking towards his house. She tries calling out to him, but he doesn’t answer. That’s when she realizes it’s actually the STD about to attack Greg.  Jay rushes over, and finds the STD now looks like Greg’s half naked mother, who presumably kills him in some incestuous way.
Now realizing she’s the target again, Jay drives away, and ends up at a different beach. Seeing three guys fishing on a boat, she begins undressing as she approaches the water. The scene cuts and we see Jay driving away in wet clothes, without knowing exactly what happened. Back at her house, Jay refuses sex to Paul who clearly has a crush on her. He argues that if he could see it, he could better help her, but she doesn’t want to endanger him, basically putting him in the STD/curse friend zone, which I think may be the most brutal of friend zones ever. Poor guy.
In any case he devises a plan to hopefully kill the STD. Jay is to wade in the center of a pool, luring it to her, and as soon as it’s in the water she gets out, and her friends will drop appliances in to electrocute it. Apparently, that would have worked, because STD refuses to enter the water, and instead throws the appliances at Jay trying to knock her out. Paul shoots at the invisible target, clipping a friend in the leg, then getting the STD which falls into the pool. Jay tries to escape but gets caught by the STD and Paul has to shoot it again. Only Jay can see, but the pool is now filling up with blood, and they believe they’ve defeated the STD.
Afterwards, Jay and Paul begin dating and have sex. Still unsure if the STD is truly dead, Paul is seen approaching hookers, which clearly should have been Hugh’s first plan (also, we learned he was a high school kid from a few towns over and he got infected from a one-night stand and likes jerking off into porno mags). The movie ends with Jay and Paul walking on a sidewalk, and someone is walking not far behind. Dun Dun DUN!!!
On to the rating…
This movie is a perfect example of wasted potential, and stupid plot points. I really wanted to like this movie more, because it had some interesting elements, but it failed executing them.
Early in the movie, Hugh says that the STD is a slow walker, but smart. However, if it were smart, the STD (that can look like anyone) would always choose people the infected knows, or at least someone that blends into the surroundings. Why, when Jay is first back at school, does it look like an old man in a hospital gown? Wouldn’t it make sense to look like a teenage student? Granted the movie would have ended fairly quickly, but it would have made sense.
Also, since there is practically no parental supervision, why not just fly somewhere? The STD can only walk, if you end up on the other side of the world, you’ll be safe for years at a minimum.
Another thing that was never explained is what if the infected sleeps with multiple people? Are they all now cursed? Only the first? What if she’s double penetrated at the same moment? These are the questions I need answered!
The acting was on par with what you’d expect from this type of movie, nothing too horrible, but far from good. The biggest issues are the script holes, and there’s not acting around those.

Where has all it gone wrong for World Cup favourites England?
Back-to-back defeats against Sri Lanka and Australia have put England's World Cup hopes in jeopardy.
Having arrived at a home World Cup as the No 1 side and tournament favorites, Eoin Morgan's side are now facing an early exit.
Sportsmail looks at where it has all gone wrong after seven games …
Tough at the top of the order
James Vince has failed to take his golden opportunity at the top of the order for England
There is no question the absence of Jason Roy has been a huge blow because he was in the form of his life before his second major hamstring injury in months.
James Vince simply didn't have a significant setback and so proved because England just didn't get off to the great starts that have become their trademark.
tasks his golden opportunity and enough is enough.
He should not play in this tournament again, let alone in the Ashes because his temperament is not up to it.
And any calls for the return of Alex Hales should be resisted. He betrayed the trust of the team time and again and deserved to be dropped. It would be weak from England to go back to him now.
There is no question the absence of the in -form Jason Roy has been a huge blow
They will just have to patch Roy up and send him out at Edgbaston on Sunday because it's win or bust against India.
England say a decision will be made on Roy after they have trained on Friday and Saturday but if he really cannot play then it will have to be Joe Root up top with a resulting reshuffle.
Moeen Ali has made two one-day centuries as an opener but the way he's batting he's lucky to come in at eight. Roy should have a look at his fitness and conditioning to try to prevent this happening again.
Pitch battles
How often have we heard England say they have learned their lesson from the Champions Trophy semi-final shemozzle when they did not know whether to stick or twist against Pakistan on a slow, dry surface in Cardiff two years ago?
Well, they clearly haven't learned to play on the more bowler friendly surfaces the ICC like to provide at major tournaments, at least not when the pressure is at its most intense.
They just have to be smarter. Show a bit of nous. Keep the scoreboard moving when they cannot blast every ball out of the park. It's not rocket science.
Yes, try to play the game that has brought them so much success but adjust and do it sensibly. Despite all the rain we are likely to see a dry, turning surface at Edgbaston that – surprise, surprise – will suit India.
Just as a different Birmingham pitch to the one that will be used on Sunday turned significantly for Pakistan against New Zealand on Wednesday.
England must not be an excuse. They are better than that. Or at least they were before this tournament.
Jofra Archer is inexperienced and had trouble with the damp footholes at Lord's
Falling short
Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad often bowl too short at the start of a Test even though they are England's best red-ball partnership of all time.
It happened to the white-ball attack on Lord's when, not for the first time, it was England struggling to adapt to conditions in their own country rather than Australia, who then showed the way with full swinging deliveries.
It was certainly the first time England have missed David Willey but the bowlers who did play should be good enough to adjust. There are mitigating circumstances.
As Nasser Hussain pointed out here, Mark Wood and Jofra Archer had trouble with vapor boat lessons at the start of Tuesday's match but improved.
And we should remember Archer is very inexperienced. He will have days when it won't go right but don't lose faith in him. The boy is already well on the way to becoming a superstar.
Something England can fix is the absence of Liam Plunkett. He has been their best middle overs option for four years and even though he is down on pace he is still effective.
Is Plunkett coincidence missing in all three England defeats? He has to come back now if it looks dry and slow at Edgbaston and England because both spinners in Moeen and Adil Rashid.
In that case it may be time for Wood to take a break or even Archer if he is not fully fit.
Adil Rashid has well short of his best as a right right shoulder problem
Injuries proving a headache
While Roy is the most serious absentee, England have other issues that are causing concern.
Ben Stokes said he had stiffness in both calves while he was batted at Lord's rather than cramp but insists he will be fit for Sunday.
Bigger worries are the side issue that led Archer to have a fitness test before Tuesday's match and Rashid's ongoing right shoulder problem.
Archer's pace has been down in his last two games and he could now feel the pace of his first major 50-over tournament while Rashid, England's most important one-day bowler, clearly has well short of his best.
He might have a third and final cortisone injection soon or perhaps have a resort to surgery.
Captain not so courageous?
Was it only nine days ago Eoin Morgan was smashing 17 sixes against Afghanistan and everything looked rosy in England's garden? How times have changed.
All the signs of a classic English cricket cock-up were in place in the aftermath or defeat at Lord's, not least in the captain's slightly prickly demeanour.
Particularly when he was told former team-mate and friend Kevin Pietersen had said he was scared or Mitchell Starc's bowling.
Kevin Pietersen said afterwards that Eoin Morgan was scared of Mitchell Starc's bowling
There is previous here. KP fell out with Morgan, as he is wont to do, three years ago when the captain said in an interview with Sportsmail there really was no way back for him in his white-ball side. It has tasks while a Pietersen to get his revenge but he has a long memory.
He is also wrong. There is no greater insult you can heap on a batsman than to say he is a coward against fast bowling.
Morgan may have been struck in the head by Starc in 2015 and his technique against the short ball can be suspect but scared he is not.
Absent friend
Morgan is the most significant architect of all that has been good about England's white-ball cricket but a key figure alongside him throughout their four-year journey has been absent in this World Cup and could be missed now.
Paul Farbrace is modest about his contribution to England's rise but he has an integral alongside Trevor Bayliss as an assistant coach and would be a positive and cheery influence now while the pressure is at its most intense.
It seemed harsh when Farbrace was told he should leave immediately for Warwickshire when he became their sport director in March rather than stay with England until the end of the cup and it appears an error now.
Paul Farbrace's decision to let England leave before the tournament appears an error
Permission to panic!
It is not yet yet of course. Goodness, I was calling Morgan one of the most influential captains in English cricket history after that six-hitting assault in Manchester.
But we are officially in crisis mode now and the captain faces the biggest test yet of his leadership.
This is only England's best and probably last chance to win a global 50-over tournament – the ECB are marginalizing 50-over cricket after this World Cup – and it would be a crushing blow to the whole English game if they could not just make the last four.
The man from The Sun newspaper, still going strong 20 years on, said after England went out on the first hurdle of the last World Cup to be staged here in 1999: 'Let's get things fully in proportion. This was only the most catastrophic day ever for English cricket. "
Going out now would be worse. It is up to Morgan and England to prove us all wrong to doubt them now and pull this out of the fire against India and New Zealand.
PS. They couldn't catch a cold!
The one thing Bayliss puts great store by is good fielding and it all started to go wrong for England with a quite awful performance in their defeat against Pakistan.
They have now dropped no fewer than 13 catches in this tournament and only Pakistan, with 14, have fumbled more.
Those misses have cost England 322 runs and have the perfect illustration of a World Cup that is going horribly wrong.
