REPOSTOBER - Day #30

the second to last day dawns! and with it comes some old fanart I made during an extracurricular art course my crush and I were taking in our final year of school I blew my chance to confess but I still had fun anyway /shot

it's funny looking back on those days and seeing how like... young and dumb and cute I was all smitten with him lol... even funnier to me is how similar he and my partner are/were, I really did typecast myself into liking the exact same kind of men lmao... but I guess I could have guessed that from even my OCs; my favourite even looks like the both of them!! I uh, very clearly have a type

back on topic, it's a shame I haven't been able to celebrate Odaiba Day for quite some years now! but you could say I'm celebrating late; this month I have finally gotten around to watching Last Evolution: Kizuna after having had the DVD for years, and just today my package from the amazing @sinobali arrived so now I have new V1-themed stickers to slap on my car!! and to add to my growing collection of ZeninTCG ones; they're helping me locate it in the parking lot no matter what angle I'm approaching from lmao

REPOSTOBER - Day #29

today is the last of my main trio of fanmade Digimon to appear over here, Ligermon!

his line is based off of the hybrid liger (crossbreed of a lion with a tiger) and have patches of gel-like kerosene that they can ignite for various uses, as well as a number of nasty & incapacitating attacks! his clawtips are filled with blackdamp (a mixture of CO2 & unbreathable gases that displace oxygen to cause asphyxiation) and in his signature move Blackdamp Bomber, he fires them at the foe to induce dizziness and disorientation. further stages of his line draw inspiration from the mythical Ifrit + bones/skeletal parts, and lean further into the whole "fire and kerosene and gases and petrochemicals and nasty stuff" idea... they're all just mean little guys :'D

I had absolutely no idea back then- #-that that would become a popular recreational drug! wikipedia said nothing about that a decade ago!!!!! #I was just looking for an asphyxiant that could be used to incapacitate a foe and I swear there was a connection to blackdamp back then #either way I've changed it to cyclopropane gas which is NOT a recreational drug but still a related incapacitating agent #(and it also has propane in the name which ties back into their whole kerosene-burning-fire-ignition shtick) #(people probably thought I was a druggie or something lmao... I've never touched drugs in my life beyond paracetemol and alcohol hahaha)

for today, here's some decade-old art that never made the jump to Tumblr! it's of @inkweaver22-blr's partner fan-Digimon Lutroguemon and his line, a river otter turned river dragon! still one of the best-designed fan Megas I've come across, let alone had the pleasure to draw... it's simple and every part of it just works //

if I ever got around to redesigning my partner's mega, I'd be taking cues from Holtdramon for sure... somedayyyy /shakes fist

REPOSTOBER - Day #25

today's repost is the current design of my fanmade Digimon partner, Lindmon! his line is based off of the lindwyrm (a type of wingless dragon), and has a mixture of physical-based attacks as well as the ability to fire pellets of low-grade gamma radiation, with his signature Gamma Fire attack!

a lot of my signature OC digimon have... kind of a mishmash of concepts and references that don't always have much connection, which is something that nowadays I'd ideally change to be more cohesive-- but it's just so baked into them at this point that I also don't really want to change a thing, because it's like a funky little reflection of the things I thought cool or interesting back then :')

he's come a long way from his original chunkier first-draft! honestly looking back at it, I kinda like the proportions of the old one but I definitely wouldn't keep them for Lindmon going forward... maybe I could rework it into an X variant!

REPOSTOBER - Day #21

another quick one today because work was tiring-- it's WingMissimon, one of my fan-Digimon!

it started out as an alternative Missimon subspecies that I honestly could have just made it the Rookie of, but instead I went the convoluted route and turned it into an armor evo using the Digimental of Knowledge... and then immediately flip-flopped back again when I remembered that that would imply it comes from something else and there were no suitable preexisting armor-compatible Rookies to pull from and I didn't want to make my own to justify it so who really cares! have a kawaii bullet!

I was only trying to make it make sense because this community is full of Mega-level pedants at the best of times and back then I was concerned with trying to appease them because god knows I can be a bit of one too, but sometimes the easiest answer really is to say "fuck canon I made a thing and *I* think it's cool"

had a great weekend out with the family! mum, my sister and I went to see the Swan Lake ballet which was cool but I'm definitely a stageplay or something with dialogue kind of person it seems, I found myself zoning out often and getting distracted by nearby crinkly wrappers and noisy kids a-ahaha and then we went out for dinner at our favourite korean bbq place with our aunt who's come down from interstate!

then today we all met up again and went to our favourite hangout at the Plaster Funhouse and spent the day painting various sculptures just like we used to when my sister and I were kids-- this time I painted a chest in the style of the small ones from KH (I bought another one to paint as a big chest but ran out of time, that's a project for our next visit) and a flamingo I made to resemble the Eerie Chocobo Barding from FFXIV, my favourite bird-outfit! they didn't have any tiny pumpkins to put on sadly but we made it work with some flowers and a little crown, and off it goes into my growing collection of painted statues in the second pic :')

they had more MetalGreymon statues today soooo I was back on my bullshit and I grabbed another one, despite already having painted the two official variants... this one is to make my own recolour with for kicks lol, maybe a nice maroon with pistachio-coloured stripes? snow MG? a fucken rainbow? the options are endlessssss and I just hope they bring back the MetalGarurumon ones someday so I can start my recolour idea with those too ///

#my aunt recently had to put down her dog of ~18 years so we wanted to give her some happy days to look forward to #what with everything going on between that and our grandfather's health scare last month #my family has been having a really bad time this year and the past 2-3 months have been absolutely terrible for us all #so it was therapeutic for everyone to have some fun days not spent at the hospital or vet #tomorrow we're having another thiefy stream night with my sis and stepsister! I already have a few FMs picked out and I'm keen as a bean #then tuesday is my grandma's birthday! the party train doesn't end!...until wednesday at least #I am supremely glad I'm not rostered on until after audit on tues because fuck that... work is a clusterfuck I don't want to deal with rn #haulaupost #haulauart

REPOSTOBER - Day #16

today is artwork I made for Xuza/HowliteArt as part of a Digivolution Exchange Project, where entrants would submit a Rookie fanmon of theirs and then they'd be randomly shuffled off to another entrant for them to draw an evolution of!

I got their Lapimon which I was already a big fan of (I hate to be linking to Pinterest of all things, but in the wake of dA Eclipse & the AI kerfuffle they've scrubbed their old Digimon Viral project from the internet it seems), so I just drew my own take on her champion form Briarmon, rather than design a whole new thing!

today is a red-crowned crane which was supposed to be an animal form of sorts of an RP group character I was making! it was intended for Z-Parasites, which was a group founded by a fellow contender in the DigiXrosTournament OCT-- all I had worked out is that they were going to be a red-haired, ponytailed fighter lady of some description named Piper Strassman, but I never got around to anything besides this one drawing and like... a quick sketch of its Parasite form which was a blobby boi kinda like a Pururumon lol

/drags self out of hibernation

hey y'all, I was watching one of Karn EX's videos the other week and went to test out the Digimon Fusion Generator for kicks, and ended up with some real nice scrunglies that I felt compelled to draw lmao... the last time I drew anything was this time last year actually, but I'm glad to see that I'm not as rusty as I thought-- although I still don't really draw anymore, it was nice to get creative and do something that's fun and familiar (and not terribly difficult, since I was only riffing these DS sprites as a base to save on time)

I initially meant to just do flat colours, but as with anything else I do, I start adding some quick lumi highlights and shines to a few sections and suddenly before I know it I've basically just mapped out rough shading for the damn things, so they were a lot more effort than I meant to put in!

(I didn't realise I had two scheduled for today!! I drafted the first one weeks ago and completely forgot lmao, they can both stay now that I've put the effort into all of this)

so this one has some history! it started out as some fanart of the sasakure.UK vocaloid song Bokura no 16-bit Wars that I made for one of my final-year arts pieces in highschool, and then decided that Gumi looked kinda like one of my OCs, and then one thing led to another.............. to be honest it's the best Lael has ever looked lmao, I never did get around to his revamp but this kind of outfit isn't far from his sense of style :')

REPOSTOBER - Day #26

today is technically breaking the rules as it hasn't left my sta.sh since I made it BUT it's old and I wanted to break up this last week having fifty million yellow-hued pieces back-to-back soooo fuck it, we ball

Reika was an unreleased OC of mine that got stuck in limbo, with very little to her name except for one tiny artwork and a few references made to her existence here and there-- she was originally designed on top of a base my sister drew for a race in her own not-fanfic story project, but she was stuck for ideas and asked me to have a go at scribbling something as a jumping-off point... I accidentally got too into it and designed Reika on the spot, somewhat thinly inspired by Riki from Xenoblade as it was what my sis was playing while I drew!

I later went to repurpose her as design for the main character in a Kingdom Hearts fanfic I was writing (the plot of which was like... hard to succintly describe except it was a Kiko Fluffypants-esque "character gets isekai'd but the world isn't actually how it was depicted whatsoever in the franchise"... also amnesia because it turns out they were actually in a coma in rl and her whole journey was some wonky brain set-up to keep her alive and subconsciously come to terms with her impending doom... it was A Whole Thing™ and I thought it was so dark and genius back in the day lmao)

REPOSTOBER - Day #9

we're back to your regularly-scheduled programming with day 9, which is related to the last by being a whole bunch of assets from a knockoff 8-Bit Theater-style FFXIV webcomic my ex and I were working on!

I say that but it was only ever him writing the "script" and then me... questioning the direction of this new page, trying to salvage it a littleproofreading & spellchecking, arduously making sprites/backgrounds/panels, putting it together, polishing it....... only for it to all go unused outside of one time he had me post a "prequel" page to reddit and it got no traction because it once again made no sense and... it was a whole frustrating thing that I was doing the bulk of the work on and was trying to escape doing for like 2-3 years, but it taught me the value of an equal partnership if nothing else :')

technically not a repost, but technically it is since it HAS been posted online, just...... privately and only shown to few people... but what matters is that it's old art and it's a part of my/our ancient history that I would still like to be known by whoever stumbles across it I guess lol

#repostober #haulauart #it really is terrible to be honest! everything about it! from the script to my lack of wanting to work on it anymore after the first year #I loved that man but I did not love our webcomic #the only part I enjoyed was drafting ideas for the characters like Gladiator and Thaumaturge #and Gaelikittencatman #he was a batman expy based off of a gaelicat and he was the only other character I ever got around to drawing besides the other two #maybe I should add that guy in there too #but no #he's too cursed #but yeah it quickly became a chore and I came to really resent him asking how the next page was coming along #had to prod him into even writing anything for it and then he'd just sit around and be the ideas-man while I did all the hard work #tbh it was an early echo of exactly how our relationship would pan out from that first month onwards... spooky how that works
