What's your favorite Venti lore/references?

For me it's him guiding souls after death and being connected to istaroth. Also the whole prodigal son thing, What do you think it means for him? (Hope you don't mind getting asks like this, i couldn't help but be curious)

DEATH

First off, I absolutely love his ties to death! Usually in media, when gods deal in the realm of death, they're all dark and dreary and either sad or evil. Venti, on the other hand, embodies more of the aspects of comfort. A final rest after a life well lived. Barbatos is said to guide the souls of the deceased to the afterlife on a wind, yes, but he also lets them live on through song! There is a belief that someone isn't truly dead until their name has been spoken for the last time, and Venti places importance of using names in his songs, as seen in the manga when he asks Venessa if he can use her name in a song.

There's also how heavily anemo ties into the concept of loss (gestures at the dead friend gives you an anemo vision joke), and the anemoi wind spirits from myths were also once a guide of souls to the afterlife.

There's also the post I made last night- "Not death, but his brother, sleep" (shout out to The Ra.ven Cycle book series). In Greek mythologies, which Venti does have a few ties to, Death and Sleep are brothers- and we all know of Venti's ties to sleep. Aside from his times of sleep, he was also seen singing the guards to sleep when going to free Venessa.

ANYWAY all this to say I think along with the wind, freedom, and hope, death is one domain that Venti falls into. (Which just makes him and Hu Tao even better buddies).

ISTAROTH

This is where I can more theory crafting rather than reflective. We've learned the the Thousand Winds were the Thousand Winds of Time. Now, I do not think that Venti is a son in the traditional sense- rather, I think that the Thousand Winds of Time form one being- Istaroth.

Venti also called himself a single breeze/wind, so I believe he was one of the thousand that made up Istaroth, only to rise up above the others in terms of power during the rebellion against Decarabian, and then becoming a god in his own right.

Do I have much evidence for this? Not at all! It's just my thoughts.

(Also, apparently prodigal means wastefully extravagant, which while I admit my first thought is his indulgences in drink and revelry, also make me wonder if it is perhaps that he has made Mondstadt into a home where people can act as such if they please- free to do so.)

OTHER THOUGHTS

One of my favourite bits of lore comes from the Wings of Shimmering Galaxy lore. It's spoken from the perspective of Venti post Archon War! It goes to say,

"For he knew that someone must heal the hurts of the world, and thus someone needed to find a way to communicate with them."

From Zhongli's character stories, we know that Venti went to visit, bringing a gift of wine- and that that led to the 7 all meeting together regularly. He is a bard, and the god of the wind- music and poetry flow like the wind, after all. Of course he would facilitate communication! HOWEVER, this didn't work for a long, long time. In fact, the glider lore continues,

"But the poet knew this would happen. (...) Still, the poet did not give up, though not because he believed or anything. This was just the way he was."

Despite being called the god of Hope by Neuvilette, Venti didn't have any hope. He just... didn't know what else to do.

Anyway, I should end it here, before I ramble on for many more paragraphs about all the things I love about Venti.

Who wants to bet that the Angelic Council was furious when Charlie was born because they were worried that Lucifer and Lilith were going to start birthing an army, and the reason Charlie doesn't have siblings is because they threatened to kill her, and Lucifer had to grovel for them not to? And the deal was that they could have no more children, and Charlie had to stay in her realm or else?

The Goddess' Lyrebirds -- ;;

In the days before the Goddess rended the land to save her people from Demise, it was common practice for young women with any type of natural talent for magic to give their lives to the church as a "Lyrebird". This was typically poor women who wanted to provide for their families-- but it could be noble women as well who for varying reasons decided to join the church. The church made sure to provide and protect the family of women who decided to become lyrebird's, and so it became a reliable avenue for them. Once one decided to become a Lyrebird you were stripped of your name and given a new one-- typically bird related. While you weren't forbidden from seeing your family or acquaintances, there was no guarantee you'd ever see them again depending on where you were sent. A Lyrebird was essentially a wandering priestess with magical talent who's duty it was to protect and serve the Land of Hylia. They were well educated, and taught to fight so that they may tackle any problem presented to them. However, Lyrebirds were more than just simple wandering priestesses. They were as the name suggests, "liar birds". Fakes. Mimics, stemming from a belief that the Goddess walked among them, and by acting as fakes they could keep danger away from the Goddess. Once Demise invaded the land though, they were all slaughtered, and while few records remained of the practice, it was never resumed after Hylians returned to the land

Angela has a hard time with vampires, this isn't news. She's hostile towards them by default, she's had overall bad experiences with them.

They've manipulated her, attacked her (and her loved ones), and while she's aware not all of them are raging blood suckers driven purely by instinct, she's still wary and doesn't trust them.

it took a long time for her to warm up to damien after he turned.

Short Info

Gabriel is one of the Archangels of Heaven, the Messenger of God, and Protector of Children. He is older than Lucifer, but much younger than Michael, and is often the more laid back among the entire group, preferring to kick his feet up and play his music than really get involved with politics. While he has a strong resemblance to Lucifer, as all of the Archangels look a lot like each other, Gabriel has long dark red hair and his cheek marks are little golden stars; he prefers his leather jacket and drawn on jeans than any suit or robe that the other Angels wear.

When the Earth was new, the dinosaurs were Gabriel's idea, and they went badly. Unbothered by the Elder Angels' dismissal of the creatures, Gabriel was present when the First Man, Adam, was Created from stardust and Earthen clay. He was one of the angels who was supposed to watch over the Garden, but often lapsed in his attentions during his shift, which allowed Lucifer to sneak into the Garden, first to befriend Adam, and then fall in love with Adam's first wife, Lilith.

Since he himself is a free thinker, Gabriel did not blame Lucifer for falling in love, but he did scold his brother for being so reckless. Things ended up exploding after Adam was given a new Wife, named Eve; Lucifer had stolen a Fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, and had gifted it to Eve, accidentally unleashing Evil onto Earth. He was at the Trial where Lucifer was condemned for his actions and thrown from Heaven with Lilith jumping after him, and Gabriel has not seen or heard from Lucifer since.

Unlike most of the angels, Gabriel retains a party boy kind of attitude. He frequently complains of being bored, and he likes to sneak to Earth to scare the humans for fun. "Be Not Afraid", no, be afraid. Be very afraid. Maybe pee yourself a little? He thinks it's hysterical. He carries a double sided axe as a weapon, but rarely uses it, preferring to keep his Trumpet on hand, which he's turned into a kazoo in order to blow when he's feeling bored around Heaven.

Due to the Archangels having an intense bond, the Angelic Council run by Sera keeps the Archangels in the dark considering Lucifer and his movements in Hell. As a result, Gabriel does not know about the Exterminations, nor does he know about Charlie; the only time he becomes aware of it all is when Sir Pentious is redeemed and sent straight to the top of Heaven, bypassing Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates. Gabriel is so irate that he knows next to nothing about Lucifer and what's happening that he schemes to take Sera's place in the Council, or he's flying to Hell his damned self.

Hello ! I'm happy that you were entertained (at least I hope you were) at the mix up of Cloud (@spec-b) not realising that Rem was calling him "Da" and that it, indeed, was not part of her accent.

For me, slum-speech has always translated into Gaelic for me and I'm not entirely sure why. But, I've headcanon'd it for about 6 years now, that slum tongue is gaelic. Because of how Tseng decided to "interrogate" her with Reno (who just would not stop talking, mindlessly filling the hours with random bouts of useless facts, talking to her as if she were responding, etc.) she became well-versed in the lower-populous jargon.

So, that being said, Rem has sort of a mix of a jersey/irish accent. Think Harley Quinn when she's manic and a bit of the boondock saints. The heaviness of her accent depends on her mood; if she is tired, angry, drunk, or agitated the accent is thicker and her words are chopped. If she is calm, content, happy, or things along that line it's much softer and she tends to try to enunciate her words.

She absolutely switches to full slum-speech (gaelic) when she wants to shit talk with Reno.

So given that Nanami is the second biggest drinker of the group.

Given that he is not in a relationship. He will drink himself to sleep. The amount of alcohol he drinks would almost kill a person. He's been building himself before he turn 18. Staring to drink right after Hiabara died. Most times catch him after his job, he's drinking. Depending on what kind of day he is having, he can go from drinking a lot of beer, to whiskey.

Beer for him is normally what he drinks when he's eating. At home and outside. But he knows to keep drinking water after each one. When he drinks he knows she has to be aware. He doesn't need someone taking him home after he drinks.

Whiskey is when he is having a bad day.AKA, if he didn't save someone on his mission, his friend died. Or his depression was getting the best of him.

Depnding on his mood too, ifhe is in more of social area his mood is quiet, with a slight flirt, but not always.

But if he is somewhere comfortable and with someone he is comfortable with. His can tank. He has his feelings building up for years one talks about his past with anyone, but sometimes it slips when he is drinking.

I'm gonna be nit-picky here. My Leon doesn't talk about Raccoon at all. Hell, he's signed a lot of NDAs because of it and he's just straight up not allowed to talk about it.

There's also the fear and reality of looking absolutely crazy. When he was forced to join the military, he internalized a lot of his traumas and threw himself into training and going through the motions.

It was an insanely difficult time for him, he had little to no support and anyone paying enough attention could tell something was wrong with him.

So yeah, the whole "Leon divulging Krauser about B.O.Ws" felt kinda strange to me, esp after the bit in DSC where we're shown he was kidnapped by the Government. Why would they want him squealing anything about R.C especially after they nuked the entire place to get rid of the evidence?

today i'm thinking about how just. eIIe has an edge to her that danny will never have? they're so similar, in ways that sometimes surprise the two of them, even. she's his clone and it's frustrating, but there are things about them that will always be similar. she's his clone and vIad wanted her to be danny, and made an effort to mold her that way. so they have so many similarities.

but eIIe lived on her own for a few years before danny's parents took her in. she was homeless for a time and she figured out how to make that work for her. and that's an experience that danny's never had, will never have. and it's made her just a little sharper than him, in a way that's hard to pinpoint if you don't know the story.

Back on my "Venti was capping calling himself the weakest" bullshit

As we get more and more into the nations, it's so interesting to see how they all worship what the archon stands for, sometimes even more than the archon themselves. The old Sages held the Akasha in higher regard than Kusanali. Higher ups in the Tenryou Commission worshipped the musou no hitotachi more than Ei herself, in Fontaine they see Furina as more of a mascot while they worship justice itself being served.

While Mondstadt obviously holds freedom in high regard, they have the Church of Barbatos. They speak of Barbatos' blessings, not Freedom's blessings. They thank the Anemo Archon. Even though they don't know if he's truly physically present, they still place honour on him at festivals- which imo, makes it all the more meaningful. They don't do that because they feel they must under his eye, but because they truly want to.

And I think so much of it comes down to the fact that Barbatos trusted them first, before they trusted him.

Think about it- they wouldn't have been eager to be ruled by another god right after the fall of Decarabian. They must have been so wary. Barbatos knew this, and then trusted them to rule themselves. He helped them found the new city, and then let them be. I don't think the people would have nearly as much love for him as they do if he had decided to rule himself, even if he did it out of love. He respected them enough to give Mondstadt back the reigns that they fought for.

And so today, the church's still give services, sing hymns, have festivals, and pray. Barbatos might not be ruling directly over Mondstadt, but the amount of influence he has and the worship he's given is huge compared to other nations.

Lucifer has been trapped in Hell since he and Lilith Fell; the only news he gets from Earth is from new Sinners when they arrive, as well as how Hell changes in terms of culture, technology and clothing. Over time, he’s come to depend on being told what’s new from the Imps and the Ars Goetia.

He’s not been able to see Earth since the Garden of Eden. He misses the Garden, and he misses flying through space. It’s part of the reason why he took it so hard when he was told that the wicked souls were blaming him for their evil, because at his core, Lucifer isn’t an evil creature. It breaks his heart that everyone on Earth thinks he is.

Fame is an interesting topic with Dani. She doesn't pay close attention to pop culture, it's just everywhere and so oversaturated that she tunes out sometimes.

She doesn't think anything good comes out of being too famous. People start treating the star like they're not human anymore, they can't go anywhere without being hounded, people look at them with dollar signs or stars in their eyes and sometimes their admiration can go too far.

It's absolutely wild to witness certain people of her era shoot up and while the mania surrounding them can be frightening, it's also strangely fascinating to her from a social perspective.

I think if Maria were to leave Silent Hill by some chance, she'd be a fish out of water and would have a difficult time adjusting. I can't see her working a day job and she'd really struggle in general.

Also I feel she'd be kinda stilted and awkward when interacting with people on a day to day basis, she's not used to a lot of social interaction.
