How quickly will Ezra give Din a nickname? and. if he was only trained by the Jedi until 12, did he ever get a lightsaber? IF SO, can we know what color?

Ezra is going to call Din "Tin Can" just as soon as he's up and kicking. Mando will get fed up and tell him to call him Mando pretty quick, though.

Love that you grabbed that lore from the other post about it. Ezra was no savant and therefore undertook The Gathering ritual (finding his own kyber crystal) at age 11, which is pretty typical. If he had completed building his saber, he likely would have chosen yellow. According to Wookiepedia that indicates that he wanted to focus on both scholarly and combat-focused pursuits. Ezra is a man of balance. He is skilled with a blade, but his mind is just as sharp -- if not sharper.

Maybe I'll write in Din taking him to find kyber crystals? And Din can help him build his new saber. He won't have the ability to color it with focus crystals anymore, so it'll be some random color that probably has symbolism to it -- but I haven't gotten that far yet lol.

For the séance event - What was your last dream about? (Or what about your most memorable dream??)

okay this is super weird and i'm 100% using a version of it in the last chapter of recovery road:

Sometimes I have this dream about a whale. I’m out on a boat with a ton of people and I somehow end up in the water with this whale. Now I’m already nervous because it’s a killer whale and I’ve heard about all the times their trainers got eaten at Sea World. And the open ocean scares the shit out of me to begin with. But I’m in the water with this killer whale and everyone assured me over and over it’s going to be fine. This whale is friendly and it’s not going to hurt me. But it starts bumping up against me, pushing me, pulling me deeper out to sea. The boat of people waving at me gets smaller and smaller until I can’t see them.

And then either two things happen. Either the whale pushes me down, down in the ocean, and it’s empty. Like I can see everything around me, but there’s so much empty space, I feel like I’m being watched. And then I remember I have to breathe. So I start swimming to the surface in a panic. I know I’m too far down to make it but I keep swimming anyway. I usually wake up just before I drown, but the fear is there.

The other thing is that the whale flings me into air so high my body goes weightless and I go higher than physically possible, and then come crashing down. I know I have to be careful, have to land just right, or else I’ll splatter like a bug on windshield. I wake up just before I hit. There are no monsters. No one that I love dies. There’s nothing outwardly terrifying about those dreams but afterward I can’t sleep for hours. I don’t know what it means but it scares me so badly my heart races and I shake.

(someone please tell me what it means to be bullied by Free Willy in your dreams 😅

Frankie soothed his hand other your back, as you were bent over the kitchen counter and rocking your hip side to side, waiting for the contraction to subside.

“Breathe, baby… don’t hold your breath… keep breathing, Mouse…”

You sucked in a breath, and Frankie’s furrowed brows softened. As much as he hated seeing you in this pain, he was just as excited that he was so close to holding the little life you’d been carrying on your own for nine months. It was almost his turn to be close to your baby and get to be a daddy.

A daddy.

Based on the relationship he had with his own dad, or lack thereof, the idea of being one should have scared him shitless. But it didn’t - most of the time. He’d had enough therapy and experiences to know he wasn’t his dad, but there were echoes of him in Frankie - his nose, his voice, his nervous ticks, his military history. Even though that didn’t make him him, he still spent nights worried he would wake up one dad and be him.

Frankie did know that one difference between them was that his dad wouldn’t have let himself indulge to the point of being twice the man he was. No, Frank Sr. would have rather drank himself into a stupor than let himself enjoy a life with the woman who loved him. He knew he didn’t want to be his father.

Frank Sr. had once told Frankie when he was young how scared he was to be a dad before his older sister, Cecelia, was born. He said it took him a while to get the hang of it, holding a little baby, and he’d even said that kids didn’t get interesting until they could talk and walk on their own. When Frankie’s sister had his nephew, he watched you hold little James, tears falling down your cheeks, and nothing could have convinced him that a baby wasn’t one of the most spectacular things on this planet. He knew he didn’t want to be his father.

He’d dropped the junior from his name the moment he was legally able to. After he had told them furiously what it would mean to him to not be tethered to an abusive drunk, serving time for a DUI that killed someone, Will and Santi helped him pay for the name change, so he would never be called Frank Jr. again. He knew he didn’t want to be his father.

When one of his aunts recounted the story of when he was born, and he was told Frank Sr. was out at the bar, refusing to come home when his mom went into labor, it was told to him like a joke. But now, watching you breathe through your own labor, the idea made him furious for his mother because even god himself couldn’t rip him from your side right now.

He knew he wasn’t his father.

The contraction passed and you stood up, still leaning on the kitchen counter. Frankie held you and splayed his hand over your belly and kissed your temple.

“You ready to be a daddy, Frankie?”

WIP Wednesday

Doing my own thing with WIP Wednesday this week and combining a couple typical tag games.

Step one: Post snippets of the fics you're working on (can be a summary if there's no snippet)

Loser, Baby - Dieter x Frankie

“Frankie, man, I just feel like such a fucking loser. I cannot get my shit together,” Dieter whines into the phone. He drums his fingers on the table top in front of him, contemplating ordering another whiskey.  “News flash, Dee. You are a loser,” Frankie’s reply crackles through the speaker. “Is that supposed to make me feel better?” “You’re calling me from a bar. You are literally addicted to cocaine, smoke too much weed, and rarely go more than 24 hours without getting piss drunk. What do you want me to say?” “I don’t know, man.” Dieter trails off. He drains the last few ice cubes in the tumbler. “Reassure me? Make me feel better? You’re my fucking sponsor.” “We’re both losers, Dee. We met in NA for fucks sake, it’s not like I’ve always had my shit together.”  “Will you come get me?” Dieter’s voice is pathetically whiny. He feels stupid for even needing to call, and now he’s asking for this.  “Course. Give me 15. Don’t order another drink.” The line goes dead and Dieter saunters up to the bar to order another and wait for Frankie. 

Din/Ez Mandalorian rewrite (to be titled later)

(this would be the end of episode/chapter 1) “Well. They said 40 years old.” “This does look to be our target,” the droid quips.  IG raises his blaster as if to shoot the sleeping man.   “No. We'll bring him in alive.” “The commission was quite specific. The asset was to be terminated.” He raises his blaster again, but Din is faster. Before the IG unit can even register his movement, there’s a hole in its head.  The bounty is sleeping on the floor, a pile of ragged blankets serving as a bed. He’s missing an arm, the stump wrapped in dirty bandages. Din toes him with his boot, keeping his blaster trained on him. The man doesn’t wake up. Din kicks him a bit harder and he still doesn’t stir. He picks the man up and heaves him over his shoulders. He carries him out to the blurg Kuill let him keep and ties him to its back like a saddlebag.  It’s a long walk back to the ship.

Step two: put them in a poll and let people vote on which one you should work on

Step three: Every vote is one minute you put on a timer to work on that fic (ex. 15 votes = 15 minutes of writing)
