Feeling the presence of another, Akio's nose crinkled slightly at the rather strange smell of blood. Part of him hated his minor magic sense but nevertheless, Akio moved his hands up in a mock surrender gesture. "Easy there partner, Birdie is strong to care for himself. I just make sure to get the attention off of him when we fight together. So he is in good hands."

Something about this person was familiar, the smell of blood magic was there, but he couldn't pinpoint it yet. And he knew better than to ask.

you die saving the thing you love. maybe it is family, friends, perhaps even a cause. they will carry your face with them for the rest of their lives, and every milestone they pass will make them think of you. it does not matter because you won't be there to experience it with them. years down the line, they will meet people who do not even know the weight of your name upon their skin. this is what your selflessness gets you in the end.

An alluring aroma encircled him, redolent with citrus undertones and a luxurious, spiced depth. Robin took a long breath, savoring the warm, heady perfume as he eagerly filled his senses with the rich cologne and melted in his spot. The fragrance, once unfamiliar, had become a soothing reminder of security and domesticity; of every vow that Vladimir had fulfilled in their time together. Was it really so shameful to find himself already craning his neck in preparation for Vladimir's teeth? A quiver ran through him as Vladimir's breath, fervent with warmth, graced his ear and his lips followed the curve of his neck, bestowing compliments upon his skin.

He dared to peer back towards his beloved Count, and by the Gods, he's somehow even more devastatingly handsome than only a few hours ago.

A satisfied smirk graced his flower-like lips as Vladimir's presence caused his heart to beat vigorously in his ribcage, a fluttering feeling he had come to cherish. With a languid lift of his heavy-lidded gaze, Robin drowsily beheld his image in the mirror, his countenance softened by Vladimir's seductive murmurs, and noticed his round cheeks tinged with a rosy blush and lips that had parted in their desire to be kissed. A horde of gleaming fangs shimmered in the mirror's silvered surface, their menacing presence accentuated by the soft glow of candles keeping the paperwork on Robin's desk visible. The blackened ambiance of the room seemed to perfectly frame Vladimir's monstrously piercing gaze. Those fabled glorious eyes, possessed of depth and sagacity, reflected an inexhaustible wellspring of beauty that flickered across the the crimson stained glass of his irises ... and the mage's wintry image was enshrined within them. As if their owner regarded Robin as the most significant being in the world, as if he was the only being deserving of Vladimir's attention.

It was maddening.

"It isn't as though I sat here preening for your possible arrival - although I do thank you for the compliment, my Love. If you'll allow me a few more minutes to organize this mess then perhaps you'll be able to prove just how delectable you find me." He offered a coquettish smile,

the worthless sacrifice

you die to protect something you love. it does not matter in the end. if it's a person, they still die shortly after, if it's a war, you still lose. your death means nothing. the only people who could've appreciated it will be gone quickly as well. you will die thinking you have done something, when really you have done nothing. perhaps that is the saddest thing of all.
