After his divorce, Stede goes to the Ikea that Ed is the manager of in search of a new bed (he has insomnia, not made better by only having a couch to sleep on). They get snowed in along with a bunch of other employees and customers (based on real events). Ed stays up with Stede since he can't sleep (until he finally can, just needed the right cuddle buddy 🥰). (this is the opposite of "only one bed" but they end up not using any of the beds. also Izzy is way too intense about being assistant manager of an Ikea)

One where Stede comes out to his father before the arranged marriage to Mary, but his father says it's no problem - he has another business associate (previously rival) with a gay, single stepson Stede's age (Ed), so Stede can still be useful and marry him. They go on one date before the wedding and they immediately hit it off, but pretend not to (they don't want to give their fathers the satisfaction). (anyway there's a whole blackmail plot I haven't figured out yet but also a scene where both their families are gathered at Stede's parents' house and Stede sucks Ed off in the kitchen after dinner)

I still dream about finishing the fic based on this tumblr post. I promise I'm writing it. I am. I AM.

favorite thing about them puts aside her WELL EARNED frustration with Stede and talks seriously with him -- and just, in general, that she is a fully formed complex character with her own interests and motivations. the creators could have made her a cartoon villain, and they didn't, and I love that.

least favorite thing about them every time I hear the monologue about the life of a widow at the beginning of episode 10 I want to break things and cry. which I'm aware is a me-problem, but there it is.

brOTP it's a brOTP that kind of shades into "that seems like it could be interesting", but the friendship between Mary and Evelyn in canon is a delight.

OTP Doug is the man with a head like a loaf of bread/a real estate agent's idea of an artist or an artist's idea of a real estate agent (two very brilliant descriptions from fics I've read) BUT he and Mary are actually perfect. They love each other so much.

Thinking about Stede watching Ed interact with his kids and just knowing that Ed would make a great dad and the bittersweet feeling that accompanies that thought...

Thinking about Ed never seeing himself as a parent material, too scared that he would turn out the same as his own father, but then he meets Stede's kids and finds out that he might actually be good with kids?..

Thinking about Izzy never seriously considering becoming a father (it’s impossible for a pirate to do it right because to do it right he needs to find a nice girl and marry her and settle down and that's not an option available to him anymore... and to have a child that he might not see again or that he would see every once in a while whenever their ship makes port in the location the hypothetical mother of his hypothetical child lives for a short amounts of time doesn't sit right with him because this way he wouldn't be a proper husband or a proper father so what's the point?) but being instinctively good with kids...

Thinking about them somehow finding an orphaned baby (during one of the raids or something?) and taking them in because otherwise they won't survive at sea (Izzy one might argue that a pirate ship is not the right environment for a baby, especially with such a band of misfits for the crew, and that the baby won't survive this life either, but Stede and Ed just aren't gonna listen to that someone)...

Thinking about a baby who has the Gentleman Pirate and Blackbeard and their Right Hand for dads and a whole pirate crew for the family...

Y’all hear me out. So with the finale of Our Flag Means Death we all want a angsty but loving reunion of Ed and Stede, Ed’s mad but Stede explains and they kiss and cry but I want more. I want that to happen but I want Izzy to TURN. I want him to see that that’s happened and turns on Ed, he attacks him. A mutiny of means, he’s going to kill Ed and make Stede watch. BUT- as Izzy goes to attack and Stede steps in to defend, a sort of parallel to the fight they had before. Ed joins in the fight as well and they knock down Izzy, getting his sword away from him, but Izzy has a trick up his sleeve. He has a gun, and he shots Stede, an almost fatal shot to the chest. Ed throws Izzy over board with a weight attached to him as he cradles his dying lover. All he wants is a life with him and it’s almost torn away from him again. But don’t worry he helps with Stede with his wounds and they get married 🥰
