Regional Geopolitics by India’s Involvement in SCO
by Col (Dr) Shantonu Roy Introduction
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, or Shanghai Pact, an Eurasian political, economic, international security and defence organization established by China and Russia in 2001. The SCO currently comprises eight Member States (China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan). It is the world's largest regional organization in terms of geographic scope and population, covering approximately 60% of the area of Eurasia, 40% of the world population. As of 2021, its combined GDP was around 20% of global GDP.
The SCO is the successor to the Shanghai Five, formed in 1996 between the People's Republic of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, and Tajikistan. In June 2001, the leaders of these nations and Uzbekistan met in Shanghai to announce a new organization with deeper political and economic cooperation. In June 2017, it expanded to eight states, with India and Pakistan. Iran joined the group in July 2023. Several countries are engaged as observers or dialogue partners. The SCO is governed by the Heads of State Council (HSC), its supreme decision-making body, which meets once a year. The organization also contains the so-called Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS).
In 2001, the annual summit returned to Shanghai and the group was institutionalized.  The five member nations first admitted Uzbekistan in the Shanghai Five mechanism. On 15 June 2001, all six heads of state signed the Declaration of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, praising the role played thus far by the Shanghai Five mechanism and aiming to transform it to a higher level of cooperation. From 2001 to 2008, the SCO developed rapidly, establishing a number of permanent bodies and adhoc initiatives dealing with economic and security matters. In July 2015, in Ufa, Russia, the SCO decided to admit India and Pakistan as full members. In June 2016 in Tashkent, both signed the memorandum of obligations, thereby starting the process of joining the SCO. In June 2017, at a summit in Kazakhstan, India and Pakistan officially joined SCO as full members.
In 2004 the SCO established relations with the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2005, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2005, the Collective Security Treaty Organization in 2007, the Economic Cooperation Organization in 2007, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in 2011, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in 2014, and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in 2015. in 2018, SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) has established relations with the African Union's African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT). The United States applied for observer status in the SCO, but was rejected in 2005.
Regional Dynamics
Basically, it was felt that China created the SCO for curbing Russia’s dominance in the area. But, the heads of the member states point out that, against the backdrop of a contradictory process of globalisation, multilateral cooperation, which is based on the principles of equal right and mutual respect, non-intervention in internal affairs of sovereign states, non-confrontational way of thinking and consecutive movement towards democratisation of international relations, contributes to overall peace and security, and they collectively call upon the international community, irrespective of its differences in ideology and social structure, to form a new concept of security based on mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality and interaction.  It is trying to provide an unique opportunity to take part in the process of forming a fundamentally new model of geopolitical integration. The SCO was not a platform for resolving bilateral issues, and its members were also reluctant to mediate disputes multilaterally. Due to the widely divergent agendas among member states, Indian commentators even called it the "Shanghai Contradiction Organisation".
The SCO's main achievement this far is to have offered its members a cooperative forum to balance their conflicting interests and to ease bilateral tensions. It has built up joint capabilities and has agreed on common approaches in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism. However, major shortcomings, such as institutional weaknesses, a lack of common financial funds for the implementation of joint projects and conflicting national interests have prevented the SCO from achieving a higher level of regional cooperation in other areas.
India’s Involvement
India has steadfastly used its diplomatic capital to campaign for strengthening cooperation and used the SCO platform to collaborate with regional counterparts. In 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Qingdao, China, coined the acronym SECURE to highlight the pressing regional challenges facing the SCO, where S stands for security of citizens, E – economic development for all, C – connecting the region, U – uniting the people, R – respect for sovereignty and integrity, and E for environmental protection.
India has been sensitising the influential members of SCO on Pakistan’s state-sponsored terrorism. The dreaded global and regional terror outfits, such as al-Qaeda, Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISKP), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) to secure the SCO and greater Eurasian region from these radical extremist forces. The issue resonates with China, Russia and Central Asian Republics (CARs), which are facing increasing threats. Another common challenge to the SCO region is the illicit drug trade emanating from the Af-Pak region. In 2021, more than 80 per cent of opium and heroin supplies originated from Afghanistan via different routes to the global opium market. The greater involvement of terror outfits in the narcotic trade has sprung new geo-political challenges to the SCO. It has become a significant funding source for anti-state activities by the region’s dreaded terror groups and radical Islamists. India has been trying to garner support for putting an end to all these.
This year the summit which was held virtually at Delhi had the highlights
The New Delhi Declaration was signed by the member nations, which states that the international community must come together to "counter the activities of terrorist, separatist and extremist groups, paying special attention to preventing the spread of religious intolerance, aggressive nationalism, ethnic and racial discrimination, xenophobia, ideas of fascism and chauvinism."
     Joint Statements:
The leaders adopted two thematic joint statements - one on   cooperation in countering the radicalisation leading to separatism, extremism, and terrorism and the second one cooperation in the field of digital transformation.
New Pillars of Cooperation:
India has created five new pillars and focus area for cooperation in the SCO, which include,
Startups and Innovation
Traditional Medicine
Youth Empowerment
Digital Inclusion
Shared Buddhist Heritage
India's Reservations on BRI:
India refused to be part of the BRI (Belt and Road Initiative) of the  SCO members’ economic strategy statement, mentioning “interested member states’.India's opposition to the BRI stems from its inclusion of projects in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), which India considers a violation of its sovereignty.
Conclusion
Last but not least, there continues to be a perception in the West that SCO is an anti-West forum. However, India’s growing economic and political stature at the global level in the era of multi-vector foreign policy has made New Delhi a potential player in turning SCO into a development oriented organisation in Eurasia rather than an anti-west alliance. That is why New Delhi has been stressing maintaining peace and security based on UN Charter provisions to ensure the collective prosperity of the region.
India has advocated win-win cooperation within the SCO for regional or trans-regional connectivity, regional security and defence collaboration, combating state-sponsored terrorism, and a peaceful, prosperous Afghanistan with an inclusive government and peaceful global order without rival blocks. The challenge for New Delhi, going forward, will remain one of using its substantial diplomatic capital toward making the Eurasian region a driver of economic growth and prosperity within the ambit of SCO.

What exactly is the UM171?
UM171 is a highly potent agonist for human hematopoietic stem cell renewal independent of AhR suppression. UM171 behaves differently from other small-molecule stimulators of hemopoiesis, for instance, the aryl-hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) antagonist StemRegenin 1 (SR1). The addition of UM171 to cells with cytokines and SR1 boosts the normal ex-vivo expansion of HSCs, including CD34+ cells.UM171 employs a new molecular mechanism to control the epigenome. UM171 is also a molecule that fights cancer.
The history of UM171
UM171 was discovered at IRIC that the UM171 project was created as a result of a collaboration between an interdisciplinary team of chemists headed by UdeM associate professor of Chemistry Anne Marinier and a group of biologists under the direction of Guy Sauvageau. UM171 was given in 2014 to honour Universite de Montreal.
Uses of UM171
UM171 is a critical factor in the proteasomal degrading of the LSD1-CoREST repressor. It is implicated in degrading RCOR1 and LSD1, both limiting HSC expansion.
The biological effects of UM171
UM171 has been shown to increase its expression of EPCR in human HSCs with robust and multilineage in vivo function limited to EPCR positive. Utilizing UM171 as a tool compound, it is possible to demonstrate that long-term human cord blood (LT) HSCs also express ITGA3 and EPCR, while those who are more short-term (ST) could exhibit EPCR but do not have ITGA3. Recent research suggests that UM171 is downstream of LSD1/RCOR1 and indicates the possibility that UM171 is involved in a poly-ubiquitination system which targets the proteins to degradation of the proteasome. Furthermore, UM171 regulates H3K4me2 and H3K27ac markers in hematopoietic stem cells ex in vivo. UM171-mediated CoREST complex destruction requires CUL3KBTBD4 activation of the ligase. UM171 expansion permits the use of small CB units, which increases the number of donors and facilitates accessibility to HSCT for patients from ethnic or racial minorities.

CABOCOL-01 tryout: the single-arm period II examine examining security as well as usefulness involving Ribociclib with regard to innovative as well as metastatic cervical carcinoma after us platinum treatment method failure
While the entire grow C revenues improved underneath cold temperatures, the actual turn over period of your labile D pool area reduced, most likely due to the fact less C-13 is used with regard to growth and/or safe-keeping. That is, (virtually) almost all the latest C continued to be in the labile pool area offering taking in oxygen underneath these kinds of problems. Total, our outcomes spotlight the importance of temperature as being a car owner involving Chemical carry along with comparative Chemical part inside the plant-soil system.Track record: All of us researched the organization among long-segment Barrett's esophagus and obesity inside the Western inhabitants in a multicenter case-control test. Strategies: A hundred thirteen patients with endoscopically found Barrett's esophagus using a amount of a lot more than Two centimetres and the same amount of sex-and age-matched controls have been prospectively enrolled. Barrett's wind pipe ended up being identified based on the Prague H and Mirielle criteria. One's body muscle size catalog (BMI) with the subjects ended up being grouped in to the following teams: regular, BMI smaller as compared to 25.9; over weight, Body mass index Twenty-three.0-24.Being unfaithful, and #Link# fat, BMI bigger when compared with Twenty-five.2. To determine the affiliation among Body mass index and also the risk of #Link# Barrett's wind pipe, multi-variate logistic regression examines have been carried out. Outcomes: The actual fundamentally adjusted regression product fine-tuned pertaining to #Link# cigarette smoking as well as consumption of alcohol said that over weight as well as obesity were drastically connected with an increased risk of Barrett's esophagus (As well as Two.Four, 95% CI 1.2-4.Seven, and even A couple of.5, 95% CI One particular.3-4.Half a dozen, respectively). The actual intensity of the particular association had not been attenuated even after modification regarding gastroesophageal acid reflux disease-related guidelines. Results: An elevated BMI has been connected with an greater risk for Barrett's wind pipe by way of a gastroesophageal reflux-independent device from the Japoneses population. Further, unlike in White populations, getting perhaps a little obese having a BMI regarding Twenty-three.0-24.9 had been an independent risk take into account japan population. (Chemical) 2014 Utes. Karger AG, BaselOrthovanadate (OV), the chemical involving proteins tyrosine phosphatases, impacts various organic functions within a cell-type-specific fashion. On this research, all of us looked into the effects regarding OV upon hepatic stellate cellular material (HSCs). While major rat HSCs ended up classy inside the existence of 10% serum, they will automatically dropped trait stellate morphology, proliferated, as well as have been turned into the initialized point out together with the enhancement regarding considerable stress fabric along with elevated term involving both a-smooth muscles actin and also collagen kind My spouse and i mRNA. OV therapy restricted proliferation as well as account activation of HSCs along with partly solved the actual phenotype involving triggered HSCs. On the list of signaling molecules researched, phosphorylation in the Src proteins at tyrosine 416 ended up being one of the most impressive in OV-treated HSCs. Management of cellular material using Src household inhibitors partially abrogated the consequences associated with OV. Moreover, transfection of v-Src into stimulated HSCs brought on a new stellate morphology much like that inside the quiescent condition.

TENC1 Prevents Oxidative Anxiety and Stops Mitochondrial Damage Activated through Zinc Nanoparticles throughout Zebrafish ( Danio rerio)
Simple hematopoiesis presents strategy to conclusive hematopoiesis from 12.Five dpc within rodents and also the procedure is actually regulated by a number of intrinsic along with exterior aspects. Implicit restrictions are generally intracellular processes which were reported to be important in the actual introduction associated with conclusive hematopoiesis. Several constructions could happen #Link# along with exterior rules associated with hematopoiesis within the FL, which include hepatoblasts and also liver organ sinusoidal endothelial cellular material (LSEC). Hepatoblasts as well as endothelial cells consist of distinct niche categories involved in the extrinsic regulating hematopoiesis. Studies show that will co-cultures together with fetal liver stromal tissue may promote the increase involving erythroid tissue, although method by which stromal cells try this remains to be not known. Comprehending the mechanisms by which hematopoiesis can be controlled from the Fl schools might lead to producing story therapies regarding the risk-free and also reputable hair transplant of HSCs for you to patients using blood and also bone tissue marrow complications. This specific evaluation aspires in summary the present state of information about your damaging hematopoiesis particularly from the Florida. Objective: This research examines the function of (16) F-labeled fluorodeoxyglucose positron engine performance tomography (FDG-PET) from the setup regarding involved-node radiotherapy (INRT) within individuals handled regarding specialized medical levels (Do) I/II supradiaphragmatic Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). Approaches and also Material: Individuals using untreated CS I/II HL participating in your randomized EORTC/LYSA/FIL Intergroup H10 tryout as well as taking part in any real-time potential quality confidence system were prospectively particularly review. Information had been in an electronic format extracted from 16 France most cancers facilities. Most people have APET-computed tomography (PET-CT) as well as a post-chemotherapy planning CT deciphering. The actual pre-chemotherapy gross #Link# tumor quantity (GTV) as well as the postchemotherapy clinical targeted size (CTV) had been initial delineated in CT only from the radiation oncologist. The design Dog was then co-registered, and the delineated quantities were jointly assessed through the #Link# light oncologist and also the atomic medicine medical professional. Lymph nodes unseen on CT but FDG-avid were recorded, and the previously decided GTV and also CTV were changed based on FDG-PET final results. Final results: From Goal '07 to be able to January The year 2010, One hundred thirty five individuals have been included in the study. PET-CT determined at the very least 1 additional FDG-avid lymph node inside 92 of 120 individuals (70.4%; 95% self-confidence period of time [CI]: Sixty one.9%-77.9%) along with A single further lymph node location in Fityfive of 120 people (Forty five.7%; 95% CI: 33.4%-49.5%). Your imply improves from the GTV along with CTV were 7.8% and 7.1%, correspondingly. The systematic addition of PET in order to CT triggered any CTV boost in 60% of the patients. A conclusion: Pre-chemotherapy FDG-PET results in considerably better INRT delineation with no always growing light sizes. tl;dr political rant post:
it had been my goal from 12 years old to do an arts degree in philosophy (yes what a nerd- thanks to my dad playing a Great Courses philosophy dvd one morning in 2007 and my dad always taking me to the botanic gardens/the uni some weekends).
i graduated from my arts degree in 2018, with a major in english and a minor in philosophy. i was so, so lucky to even get into my communications & media degree (at first i was originally going to do marketing communications, advertising & PR)... but i realised that i was not made for business subjects- despite my mark101 tutor telling me she thought i had knack for marketing- something under this policy that i wouldn’t undertake due to the price hike for commerce/business degrees. nor was i made for a media degree. so i changed to arts & humanities.
although under this atrocious policy, english subjects are made “cheaper”- why on fucking should the rest of someone’s arts/humanities degree be so much more expensive, all depending on the fields they choose???? so you’re telling me, if i was instead to enter undergrad this year to do my english degree... that my english major would be subsidised, but my philosophy minor would be at double the cost (along with the few first year business and communications&media subjects i did), unless i forced myself to pick maths or science subjects that i would most definitely fail, no matter how much work i’d put into them??? or there’s languages- but much like maths/science- there’s the problem with my handwriting that stopped me trying french and even japanese (ironically, since it’s know for its ~painstakingly neat and orderly~ script- but my handwriting is still messy, disorderly and confusing asf).
*please note that most of this next section is just me being highly spurious and cynical. it’d probably work out fine*
but you’re also telling me that under this policy that i’d also probably have to forego my reasonable adjustments in those subjects (yes i still have trouble with my handwriting to this day) mostly because a lot of software still won’t let you write out maths problems properly or i’d have to spend twice as long trying to get a graph to work in excel or idek matlab (please teach me maths nerds)???? and most maths working out is probably better handwritten or whatever??? and that’s besides the point that i still can’t use excel at all 😂.
so with these classes then, would i be battling from day one of first year with professors to let me use a computer during exam periods (unless of course they use online/take home exam methods like philosophy)???? probably (im being very suspicious here because i don’t know how science/maths etc faculties work).
although i did get this once with one particular english professor; who used the excuse that he didn’t know how to set a computer up for exams because he had been on “sabatical for 4 years” or whatever and so “didn’t know the policies anymore”.... so then according to him it was apparently “the students job to do it.... especially since you’re in third year, miss williams”..... however, i was promptly then told by EVERY uni offical that i approached for help to do it for me.... and my other professors across my course that had done it for me, that it was in fact the PROFESSORS job/responsibility to set it up, and not the student’s??? like. help your students fuckwit professor grant??? honestly. anyway. aside from my personal struggles in the english department: let’s proceed. (this was a real incident btw).
would i be at a significant disadvantage to other students by not being able to use a computer during maths exams or science exams because of the drawing of diagrams and graphs and “showing your working”???? hell yes. would i want the professors in that department to probably condescendingly telling me all the time to “present my work neater and more precisely”? FUCK NO. it’s exactly why i avoided every maths and science subject in undergrad- even including the astronomy subject that i wanted to do- because it also meant that fellow students had to read my handwriting for practicals etc as well, that i wasn’t entirely keen on either. but i did not need the harsh reminders of “be more precise and infallible in your work presentation” that i’d had at school constantly for 11 years of maths lessons; affecting my mental health and performance in a subject during a uni semester.
moreover, that’s besides the fact that i’d flat out fail the “year 12 band 4 maths” requirements- unless they want to waive those- for first year maths/science subjects (at least basing it on my local uni).... considering that i actually skipped out on maths completely in year 12 by doing a TVET/tafe/technical college course in live theatre, production and events (which no surprises here, actually included maths anyway 😅).
because, fuck. is ANYONE seeing a trend in my study choices here? hell, i almost did a commerce/business dual degree with a tafe diploma in event management for crying out fucking loud. and you’re telling me that’s also doubled in price?? it’s obvious that i was interested in the arts & humanities and business subjects from the get-go. but under this policy- i’d be charged double for having my interest in event management, instead of say, biology (which is a subject that if it weren’t for mark scaling in my final hsc exam- i would have failed completely)??? utterly ridiculous.
i even contemplated doing a double degree with law at one point (or doing a legal studies major/minor- which is now a course at my local uni, but was not while i was there). however, law course fees have also doubled under this new policy. leaving that out of reach for me, despite that a double degree with law was out of reach for me anyway..... since my mark average was 65% and not at least 75% lol. but as if those marks averages will actually matter under this new policy.
under this bullshit policy, i’d be forced to take science/maths or even teaching (another field i had to avoid, since people can’t read my writing on a whiteboard from a distance half the time either.... besides the fact that i’m not really the ~teacher type~) subjects- all so that my degree price overall will be ”reduced”..... meaning that i would have to trade out my philosophy minor for something in maths/teaching/science (or maybe creative arts- since those fees stayed the same roughly)... instead of sticking to what i was good at: philosophy and other humanities/social science fields like sociology and history????
i understand that many people will snub me with saying “oh why did you even BOTHER going to uni if you were THAT indecisive about what you wanted to do?” which is something i’ve seen many older people saying on posts about this policy. but hell, i was 19 FUCKING YEARS OLD WHEN I STARTED UNI, FOR GODS SAKE. OF COURSE I WAS GOING TO BE FUCKING INDECISIVE ABOUT MY DIRECTION IN LIFE! because, newsflash fuckwits: not everyone has a defined career goal at 19. hell, i still don’t have one at almost 25..... since i’ll admit here, that i flunked out of my postgrad library course.... because i realised that i simply couldn’t cope with learning simple HTML, CSS and javascript coding for website design & user experience design 😂 (again help me computer wiz friends). yes, believe it or not, librarians have to know that today. and most people think that it’s just all about books (okay that was me, but i was wrong). also, if you’re wondering: postgrad library courses aren’t affected, thank god. but my point is, aren’t we meant to fuck up and pick the wrong things in life sometimes??? aren’t we meant to be indecisive about our choices in our late teens up until our mid 20s???
but now you’re telling students that their very first year of uni is practically set out for them, even for arts/humanities degrees (im not counting properly prescribed degrees such as engineering/science/communications & media (they had prescribed majors and prescribed first year subjects, which is why i left it. because i felt trapped in the prescribed marketing et al major etc); all because the government is telling them that “oh to make your first year cheaper: (A.) get good marks.... so that we don’t cancel your HECS place and (B.) pick subjects outside of the arts/humanities like science/maths/tech related subjects so that you don’t pay a whopping $14,500 for your first year of uni and will be more likely to be “job ready”. whatever the actual fuck “job ready” really means. and this all as if there ISN’T enough pressure for a 18/19 year old to succeed in their first year of uni already.
although, the one thing i’ll say is that my one year advanced diploma in marketing that i did in 2014, was $16,500. i still haven’t made any moves to pay it off. but it was constantly in the back of my mind during uni, both undergrad and postgrad. it was there as a reminder to pick cheaper subjects, so as to not greatly increase my combined hecs debt and vet-fee help debt; which is now sitting at $42,500. which under this new policy is the new price of ONE arts & humanities undergrad degree. i’d hate to be going into uni next year at 19 years old (or any age really) with that price tag on my degree.
anyway. that’s the end of my non-sensical rant. morrison and the rest of the libs etc can go fuck themselves.

my favourite hamlets (movies, recorded stage productions, live perfs):
andrew scott // almeida // 2017 // refreshing emphasis on mental illness/masculinity/obligations of grief.. hamlet isn’t sad his dad is dead bc he fucking hated his dad!! surprisingly very tender in that hamlet and ophelia read as two people in a relationship that deteriorates due to their separate mental illnesses.. VERY lesbian when you watch it no i can’t explain it
HAIDER (2014) dir. vishal bhardwaj // re-imagined as an indian crime drama set during the 1995 kashmir conflicts/disappearances.. a must watch!
maxine peake // manchester royal exchange // 2015 // i don’t remember much about it other than how gay i feel
ewan leslie // belvoir st sydney // 2014 // went to see this for hsc and it was so COOL the stage was all black right up until intermission when polonius is murdered and when we came back in for the last half everything was BRIGHT white and polonius was on the floor his (fake) blood spilling out and throughout the next acts people would step in the blood and track it across the floor, in particular i recall hamlet on a wheeled office chair skidding through the blood puddle and also ophelia traipsing around in a long veil spreading blood and flowers all over the ground
harriet gordon-anderson // sydney opera house // 2020 // was very lucky to win cheap tickets to catch this before quarantine it absolutely KILLED MEEEE the ‘to be or not to be’ soliloquy was delivered w hamlet facing ophelia on the opposite end of the stage as if she were speaking directly to her about wanting to die and ophelia is just SOBBING then ofc it turns to the nunnery confrontation and they draw closer until they’re holding each other and crying and hate everything they’re saying.. i was an absolute wreck for the rest of the day
david tennant // ?? // 2009 // very chaotic and probably the gayest i’ve seen hamlet and horatio
ophelia (2018) dir. claire mccarthy // listen this is a stupid movie but very pretty and VERY fun and the new motivations behind all those iconic scenes add such a unique dimension that separates it from previous iterations. the witch subplot is unnecessary but i appreciate the sympathy it has for gertrude..

Sikorsky MH-60S "Sea Hawk" by Robert Sullivan Via Flickr: ATLANTIC OCEAN (Aug. 10, 2019) A Sikorsky MH-60S "Sea Hawk" helicopter assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 26 undergoes preflight checks as an F/A-18C "Hornet" assigned Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 23 lands on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) in the Atlantic Ocean, Aug. 10, 2019. The John C. Stennis is underway conducting routine operations in support of Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic. MH-60S The Navy decided to replace its venerable CH-46 "Sea Knight" helicopters in 1997. After sea demonstrations by a converted UH-60, the Navy awarded a production contract to Sikorsky for the CH-60S in 1998. The variant first flew on 27 January 2000 and it began flight testing later that year. The CH-60S was redesignated MH-60S in February 2001 to reflect its planned multi-mission use. The MH-60S is based on the UH-60L and has many naval SH-60 features. Unlike all other Navy H-60s, the MH-60S is not based on the original S-70B/SH-60B platform with its forward-mounted twin tail-gear and single starboard sliding cabin door. Instead, the S-model is a hybrid, featuring the main fuselage of the S-70A/UH-60, with large sliding doors on both sides of the cabin and a single aft-mounted tail wheel; and the engines, drivetrain and rotors of the S-70B/SH-60. It also includes the integrated glass cockpit developed by Lockheed Martin for the MH-60R and shares some of the same avionics/weapons systems. It is deployed aboard aircraft carriers, amphibious assault ships, Maritime Sealift Command ships, and fast combat support ships. Its missions include vertical replenishment, medical evacuation, combat search and rescue, anti-surface warfare, maritime interdiction, close air support, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and special warfare support. The MH-60S is to deploy with the AQS-20A Mine Detection System and an Airborne Laser Mine Detection System (ALMDS) for identifying submerged objects in coastal waters. It is the first US Navy helicopter to field a glass cockpit, relaying flight information via four digital monitors. The primary means of defense has been with door-mounted machine guns such as the M60D, M240D, or GAU-17/A. A "batwing" Armed Helo Kit based on the Army's UH-60L was developed to accommodate Hellfire missiles, Hydra 70 2.75 inch rockets, or larger guns. The MH-60S can be equipped with a nose-mounted forward looking infrared (FLIR) turret to be used in conjunction with Hellfire missiles; it also carries the ALQ-144 Infrared Jammer. The MH-60S is unofficially known as the "Knighthawk", referring to the preceding "Sea Knight", though "Seahawk" is its official DoD name. A standard crew for the MH-60S is one pilot, one copilot and two tactical aircrewmen depending on mission. With the retirement of the "Sea Knight", the squadron designation of Helicopter Combat Support Squadron (HC) was also retired from the Navy. Operating MH-60S squadrons were re-designated Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC). The MH-60S was to be used for mine clearing from littoral combat ships, but testing found it lacks the power to safely tow the detection equipment. On 6 August 2014, the U.S. Navy forward deployed the Airborne Laser Mine Detection System (ALMDS) to the U.S. 5th Fleet. The ALMDS is a sensor system designed to detect, classify, and localize floating and near-surface moored mines in littoral zones, straits, and choke points. The system is operated from an MH-60S, which gives it a countermine role traditionally handled by the MH-53E "Sea Dragon", allowing smaller ships the MH-53E can't operate from to be used in the role. The ALMDS beams a laser into the water to pick up reflections from things it bounces off of, then uses that data to produce a video image for technicians on the ground to determine if the object is a mine. The MH-60S will utilize the BAE Systems Archerfish remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to seek out and destroy naval mines from the air. Selected as a concept in 2003 by the Navy as part of the Airborne Mine Neutralization System (AMNS) program and developed since 2007, the Archerfish is dropped into the water from its launch cradle, where its human operator remotely guides it down towards the mine using a fiber optics communications cable that leads back up to the helicopter. Using sonar and low-light video, it locates the mine, and is then instructed to shoot a shaped charge explosive to detonate it. BAE was awarded a contract to build and deliver the ROVs in April 2016, which will be delivered in September

That Time Forgot: Honda HSC
A supposed successor to the original NSX, perhaps? Probably so, but it didn’t make the cut. Let’s travel back in time and talk about this car, in today’s installment of That Time Forgot.
Tumblr media
Unveiled at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show, the HSC was a futuristic and sleek sports car concept for its time. The car also received a feature at the Geneva Motor Show and was also branded as an Acura for the 2004 North American International Auto Show. The name stood for “Honda Sports Concept” or “High-performance Sports Car” depending on who you asked.
Tumblr media
Powered by an i-VTEC 3.5L naturally-aspirated V6 producing over 300 horsepower, the HSC was made of carbon fiber placed on an aluminum frame. A 6-speed paddle-shift gearbox was standard. The exhaust pipes were made of aluminum and the car had swan doors.
Tumblr media
Immediately after it was released, speculations arose saying that the car was meant to be a successor to the NSX, but Honda never confirmed this. After its tour of the auto show circuit, development on the HSC went silent; it was only in 2005 when the HSC was confirmed to be purely a concept car, with no plans for production. It was subsequently followed by the Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept (or ASCC, shown below), which was in turn followed up by the Acura NSX concept which eventually came the next-generation Honda (or Acura, depending on where you live) NSX.
Tumblr media
Okay, now that we’ve gotten all that history out of the way, let’s talk about the reason why you’re here: the history of its Hot Wheels counterpart.
Tumblr media
Designed by Mark Jones, the Honda HSC (Hot Wheels calls it the Acura HSC Concept) was introduced in 2005 as a First Edition. It was first released in the above silver color scheme, replicating that of the real HSC. A notable feature of the HSC is the plastic insert headlamps, something that not a lot of castings have; the headlamps are part of the window piece.
Tumblr media
There was a version of the HSC featured with Faster Than Ever wheels, with nickel plated axles for less friction. Faster Than Ever HSCs are apparently very, very fast even though the casting is notably very light.
Tumblr media
This casting features a plastic base with the distinctive cut-out Hot Wheels logo which graced cars from 2005 to 2006; this logo was designed and patented by ex-Hot Wheels designer Nathan Proch. Due to cost cutting, this logo has since been removed. The base is made of plastic; the silver Hot Wheels logo is part of the interior piece.
Tumblr media
This casting received a total of nine releases and was last seen in 2014 as a Mystery Model in the above colorscheme.
Now I’d want this casting to return to the lineup, although I have other castings I want to return more than this. Despite this, I hope you now know a little bit more about Honda’s high-performance sports concept car, and as usual, I’d do it again any day.

A dream to be a successful business women
Hasna Shuaiba is a business person. She sells her designed dresses on her online shop “Shilpaholic”. Beside that she is working on a company named Styline Collection as a fashion designer.
Hasna was concerned about fashion from her childhood. She has a different thoughts about design. So, after completing her SSC and HSC for studying fashion designing she moved on Dhaka. Hasna said,” without my families help I couldn’t reach this far. My elder brother always gave me courage”.
After coming Dhaka on 2014 Hasna get her admitted in Santa Mareium University on fashion designing. She always had a dream of opening an online shop. Even it came true with her brothers help she opened an online shop when she was on 5th semester. Fashion concern Hasna at first started selling kids dresses.” Demand of kids dress on online shop was very poor. Mothers always tries to buy dresses from market.so I targeted young generation, started design for them and got response”, said Hasna.
Hasna is working to combine fashion and veil. Hasna said, lots of people wants veil and also want’s wear fashionable dress so I am trying to combine both this thing. She designs Punjabi, kids dress and notably women’s dress besides different unique designed hijab. Hijab’s are matched with dresses. Normally we see that those who wears hijab they have to buy hijab what matches to their dress. But people can get set of hijab and dress on Shilpaholic .
A customer of Shilpaholic named Kanta Shaik said,” for fashion designs of Shilpaholic are very good. Their dress and hijabs combination are very good”.

Basically her self-confidence help her to reach this far. Only age of 22 she became a successful business figure. When she asked about starting her business at a young age she said,” after working much I realized that I can do something or I can use my knowledge on my work. Realizing that I started my business”.
Hasna started her business at 2017 when she was only 20 years of old. Hasna didn’t take any economical support off her family for starting her business. On this fact she said,” when I started my business my investment was too small. Without my family’s help I started my business. I had only kids dress on my page that time. Later I grew up my business slowly”.
Hasna said, the two classes people used to wear the hijab. First who normally want to cover them and the second, together with both the fashion and to cover them. My goal was to make those who wear the hijab for both fashion and cover.
Initially, Hasna's business was not very good, she did not give up, but now she is getting very good response, she said. Now there is a product sale of around 5000 taka per day, and about 1.5 lac taka’s product sales in one month.
Hasna also joined a company as a fashion designer in Styline Collection, this year. After joining the job, the business is not as good as before. Hasna said “After joining the job, the business is running a little less. But I want to take my business forward a long way and if needed then I will leave the job”.
Asked about the damage done, Hasna said, her job is for nine hours and so the messages throughout the day are accustomed. But the customer wants a reply immediately. If do not respond immediately, customer do not want to respond well. They do not really want to wait for a long time. Hasna said, For these reasons, his business is studying a little bit bad and the business has become slower than before.
Asked about future plans, Hasna said, she actually wants to take her business to such a level that all people recognize the business. And the customers will believe that people will get the best product available here. Hasna wants to achieve such trust. Hasna also said that she wants to reproduce Bangladesh by the best quality fashionable product.

HYPER SUPRIME-CAM SURVEY REVEALS DETAILED DARK MATTER MAP OF THE UNIVERSE Einstein’s general theory of relativity has helped an international team of researchers measure the lumpiness of dark matter in our universe today by analyzing images of 10 million distant galaxies, and further use it to understand dark energy. Dark matter is responsible for the formation of galaxies in the universe, while dark energy is responsible for the acceleration in the universe’s ongoing expansion. Together dark matter and dark energy make up 95 percent of our universe, but why this number is so big remains a mystery. To explain the behavior and the fate of the universe, scientists must find out what dark matter and dark energy are. Studies to measure the amount of cosmic structure have been carried out in the past, especially when the universe was very young, such as the European Space Agency Planck satellite. Dark energy can affect the growth rate of these structures at a later time, closer to today. Scientists are just starting to measure the growth of these structures by studying dark matter in the later Universe and thus using it to learn about dark energy. “Fluctuations measured by Planck are like a precise arrow shot from the early Universe, and we have measured where the arrow landed with Subaru Hyper Suprime-Cam,” said paper author and Inter-University Center for Astronomy & Astrophysics Associate Professor Surhud More. The Hyper Suprime-Cam Survey, which uses the 820 mega-pixel Hyper Suprime-Cam camera attached to the 8.2 meter Subaru telescope at the summit of Maunakea, allowed researchers to study galaxies billions of light-years away. These galaxies existed billions of years ago but their light only reached Earth today. Albert Einstein predicted gravitational lensing in his theory of general relativity, where gravity can bend the path of light, making far away galaxies appear distorted to observers on Earth. Since 2014, researchers from Japan, Taiwan, and the US, led by Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the universe (Kavli IPMU) Project Assistant Professor Chiaki Hikage, studied these minute distortions caused by gravitational lensing to reconstruct where matter is distributed in the universe. Now the team can see how fluctuations of dark matter across the sky have changed over billions of years, and how dark energy has influenced this growth of structure. “I had a long-cherished hope to undertake high precision cosmology research such as that enabled by WMAP and Planck. I am very excited to share the measurements of the growth of dark matter structures in the universe with great accuracy using Subaru HSC data,” said Hikage. However, Hikage and his team knew their excitement could potentially bias their results, especially if they looked to confirm results from previous studies during their analysis. To ensure the results were sound, they performed a blind analysis, a technique well known in medical trials where no one knows which patients have been given a new treatment. Two fake data catalogs were created, and the true identity of each catalog was locked away in a box. Following an unveiling event on June 26, for the first time researchers found their analysis had revealed the Hyper Suprime-Cam Survey was indeed consistent with past gravitational lensing studies, but their result suggested cosmic structures might be evolving a tad bit slower in the universe today than that predicted by the Planck satellite in the concordance cosmological model. This could be a statistical fluctuation due to a small data set, or it could indicate a breakdown in the standard model of the universe. Luckily, there is more data for the team to analyze in the future. This result uses only 11 percent of the full survey, because the Hyper Suprime-Cam is still taking images, and is scheduled to finish around 2020. “This is just a first step, and the completed data of Hyper Suprime-Cam survey promises to advance our understanding of dark matter and dark energy,” said Kavli IPMU Principal Investigator and paper author Masahiro Takada.
