anyways... i bought my first car three weeks ago...

i totaled my first car after work today...

and made it out with only scrapes and bruises...

after doing the same thing that caused me to have a minor accident in my previous car (which is my mother’s that she hasnt sold yet, thank god)

some of it may be salvageable. the motor should still be in tact since the hood didnt crumple. the radiator is busted somewhere... i know because white smoke came through my defroster (which i had on when i crashed).

god, i had just finally bonded with that car, too. it was a sick ride while it lasted. i sobbed several times... i will probably cry again when i go to assess the damage tomorrow.

i am so unbelievably lucky that i had a land yacht with a MASSIVE nose bc the engine was huge. i am lucky my reflexes saved me from a concussion. my arm will be mega bruised. it’s very swollen and red right now, but i didnt break a bone.

i should have thought carefully bc norman floods, so the roads were very wet still when i got off work. the on ramp to hwy9 was still wet, and sharper than i thought. i was running solely on coffee. i hadn’t eaten a /real/ meal since lunch the day before. i had some food last night, sure, but i didnt eat a whole lot. i hadn’t driven that car in the rain much, and i will admit, i was not fully used to driving a rear wheel drive car. i gave it too much gas around the curve and the back end swung like a bitch when i went to level out and i over corrected (again) and spun out.

i am so unbelievably lucky to be okay. i am devastated that i only got three weeks with that car. it was almost perfect. it had a lot of things that i was looking for: power, a good sound system, and a swanky look.

granted, it’s just a car, but it was my first. i hadn’t had it long, sure, but i loved that car and i already had big plans for it. it never even got the chance to go on a solid road trip with me. i hadn’t even moved all of my stuff out of my previous car (thank god i had left some of my trombones in there bc i tore up the back end)

both of my parents thought it would be much worse. i dont blame them. i was hysterical immediately following. if i was in the other car, it would have been. the massive front end possibly even saved my life. the only lasting injuries i may have are whiplash and mental trauma.

i felt that something was wrong as soon as i started driving home... i considered taking the (slightly) long way home, but ultimately decided that my normal way would be fine. i was wrong. i was VERY wrong.

i am thankful that my injuries are minor. i am thankful that someone stopped to help me and actually called the police for me. i am thankful that my reflexes protected me. i am so lucky that i didn’t even really damage the guardrail, get hit by someone else, and didnt end up on the other side of the highway, upside down, or over the rail.

in the grand scheme of things, that car was a great choice for me.

i am thankful to be alive.

i will be more careful in the future.

also, airbags fucking hurt.
