Mrs Hemmings l.r.h
Tumblr media
A/N: I just really like the idea of Luke referring to you as his wife. I actually started this a while ago but got major writer's block, but then i picked it up and got writers's block again, it was so frustrating because i knew where I wanted to go, i just couldn't find the right words. I can't work out if some of this is cringe or not lol
Luke Hemmings has one weakness, and his enemy Carter Davis decides to use it against him, but (Y/N) isn't going to get pushed around and is becoming a new enemy to Carter
***
Luke Hemmings, CEO of a multi-million company, has one weakness, and that's you. Inside work life, he's got a tough exterior, which makes people scared to talk to him and certain people avoid eye contact with him in the halls of the high rise building; but as soon as he comes home to you or you visit him in his office, that façade drops instantly.
Your parents were a family family friend, of the Hemmings, so over time Luke and you began spending more time together, and eventually he kissed you and the rest is history. You've been able to watch him grow into the man he is today, being with him every step of the way, which includes being handed down the family company.
He'd honestly do anything for you, because you're his world and he loves seeing you happy.
Most people think he's this cold hearted asshole, who doesn't care about anyone but himself, doesn't have time for relationships, is this conceded, cocky, short-tempered ass but that's not the case at all.
That's the pretence he wants to keep up.
He's the complete opposite in his personal life. He kinda keeps his personal life a secret, for a few reasons. Mainly to keep work and personal seperate, but then he likes to keep you a secret because he's got this tough exterior to keep up.  He can't be showcasing his weakness to everyone because then people will know how to get to him. The people who work for the company don't question it when you come in, there's so many people that come in and out everyday that they forget and everyone's busy working.
It's not like he bans you from the building or you can only seen him in the morning and evenings, he just keeps it private and you prefer it that way too. You like the contrast, and you're grateful for the time he saves for you.
Stepping out of the car, saying thank you to your driver, you make your way into the building, showing the building's security your card and they let you through. Sending a small smile to the receptionist, she recognizes your familiar face, smiling back which gives you the green light to go past.
Stepping into the elevator, you press the highest floor number, beginning to wonder how many times you've pressed that button over the years as you go up. As the doors open, you step out, making your way to Luke's office.
"Hi Megan." You greet Luke's Secretary who's working outside his office.
"Oh, hi (Y/N), what are you doing here?" She asks.
"I'm here to see Luke, you know, my husband." You answer, feeling her roll her eyes at you look down the corridor.
"He's busy right now." She tells you.
"Always a pleasure to speak to you, Megan." You smile at her and walk over to Luke's office, feeling her burning glare on your back, as you walk away.
Quietly opening the door, you step inside seeing a stressed out Luke with papers surrounding him, a phone pressed against his ear, as he runs his hand over his face letting out a frustrated huff.
You let out a sigh, not liking him over working himself and seeing him stressed. Silently closing the door behind you, you make your way over towards his desk, leaning on the edge.
"You know I don't like it when you overwork yourself." You comment, making him look up quickly as he didn't know anyone but himself was in here.
"Hey baby." He sends you a smile, dropping his pen and placing his hand on your neck as you give him a quick kiss. "I'm drowning in work, I don't have any choice but to." Luke sighs, removing his glance from you down to the papers that are screaming his name, as you sit down in the chair opposite his desk.
"Can't you just spread it out through the week?" You ask.
"Unfortunatly not because if I don't get it done in the next 2 days we lose a big deal that is worth a lot." He explains, throwing his pen onto his desk in frustration.
"I'm sorry, bub, but don't over work yourself." You warn.
"It's hard not to." He says. "And I've been on hold for the past 20 minutes which isn't helping at all."
"Why don't you just hang up, it's only gonna waste more time." You suggest.
"I need answers as soon as possible." Luke replies making you roll your eyes.
You stand up, going over to his shelf of records, picking out Oasis' Definitely Maybe vinyl and putting it on the record player, soon enough the music subtly fills the room, not too loud though.
Turning around to face him, Luke already facing you, you walk over to him, leaning on his side of the desk.
"Oh by the way, you really need to fire your Secretary." You tell him.
"What's the reason this time?" He raises an eyebrow, leaning back in his chair.
"She said you're too busy to see me, rolled her eyes at me, and gave me a dirty look."
"Not a dirty look!" He exclaims, with a teasing smile.
"Shut up." You glare.
"Yes ma'am." He says.
"Why am I even married to you?" You ask.
"Because you love me." He grins.
"Most of the time." You tease.
He gives you a teasing glare and then his eyes go back to the paper work in front of him, beginning to pick it up again whilst he still has the phone pressed against his ear. You look out the window at the view, a view you've seen over a million times but never fails to make you in awe.
A groan takes your focus away from the outside world, and you look over at Luke who seems to be even more frustrated than before.
"This fucking job." He mumbles, sitting back in his chair
You give him a look, pushing yourself off the desk and then sitting down on his lap, Luke's hand running over your ass in the process.
"No, I need to stay on the line!" He claims as you take the phone out of his hand, your finger hovering over the small red button. You hang up, then open up one of the drawers to his desk, and placing his phone in there, glaring at him when he starts to make a sound of protest.
"This," you gesture to all the papers on his desk. "Can wait at least half an hour."
"B-"
"No. You're taking a break, you've been working on it all morning, I doubt you've even had lunch, I like my husband alive not a walking zombie when he comes home."
"10 minute break." He suggests.
"Absolutely not." You give him a stern look.
"15?"
"No."
"2-" you cut him off by pressing your lips against his, shutting him up rather effectively. He loses himself in you, blocking everything out as he works his lips against yours. He finds himself doing that a lot when he's with you, the rest of the world seems like a distant memory, and it's just you and him in his mind.
Reaching up, he takes hold of your jaw, his other hand staying on your thigh, tracing random patterns. Swiping his tongue against your lip, prompting you to part your lips, letting him slip his tongue into your mouth.
"You know what you getting worked up does to me." He mumbles against your lips.
"Mhmm, which just means I win all our arguments." You reply, pecking his lips. "And lets me get whatever I want."
"You get whatever you want anyway." He retorts, with a small smirk.
"Touchè." You say, kissing him again, taking his tongue between your lips, flicking your tongue against his, provoking a small moan from him. "You know what I want right now?"
"You name it, babe." He responds, attaching his lips to your neck.
Taking his hand that's on your thigh, sliding it up to your upper thigh, his fingers going under your skirt but he doesn't touch anything.
"Did you even need to ask?" He asks and you let out a slight whimper when he works on your sweet spot.
Going back to your lips, he opens your mouth again with his thumb, slipping his tongue in again, your tongues dancing together like the thousand other times you've kissed but somehow it always feels new and exciting.
Just as Luke inches his fingertips up to the place you need him, there's a knock at the door and they don't even wait for an answer they just barge in.
Luke and you pull apart, looking over to the door, seeing three men, standing by the door talking the each other.
Carter Davis, one of Luke's biggest business enemys and competitors. It's safe to say they're not too fond of each other. They've both done each other dirty, Carter topping it so far, and constantly trying to beat each other. Carter often meddles with Luke's company or wants something from him, so it's not a shock to see him around here.
Standing next to him is his associate Daniel Jones, who's a total kissass. You can't even count how many times Luke's come home cursing him. They don't get on well either. To be honest there's not many people Luke does get on with in this industry.
There's another man standing next to them, but you don't know anything about him, maybe you've seen him at the office at one point or at some charity event.
"Luke, good to see you!" Carter exclaims, making Luke roll his eyes.
"We'll finish this later." Luke murmurs into your ear, pecking the corner of your mouth. You give him a small smile, and stand up from his lap, walking over to the large ottoman to the left of the room.
Luke stands up as he buttons his suit up and he walks over to the three men, an unimpressed look on his face.
"What do you want now, Carter?" Luke asks.
"Who says I want something?" He raises an eyebrow.
"Let's be honest, you never come over for a nice catch up." Luke deadpans.
"Times change, people change, you of all people should know this." Carter replies. Luke looks over to you as if to imply 'what the actual fuck is he talking about?' and you shrug, trying to stifle a laugh.
"And who's this pretty lady?" Carter questions, glancing at you, recognizing your face from various places, but he doesn't actually know who you are.
"This is my wife, (Y/N)." He states, and you do a little patronizing wave as the three stare at you, making Luke smirk.
"Wife? Didn't know you had feelings, let alone be married." Daniel jokes.
"Have been for the past three years." You tell them, sass coating your voice.
"I like her." Carter laughs.
"Okay, I didn't sign up to open up about my personal life, tell me your proposal, I'll shoot you down, and then you leave my office." Luke states.
"As always, feeling the love, Luke." The unknown man to you, speaks.
"Listen, I know we've had our differences in the past, but hear me out." Carter starts.
"Right." Luke sighs.
"What if we merge."
"Absolutely not." Luke instantly responds.
"Now, we knew you'd say that." Daniel says. "So that's why we made some rough drafts of how much money we could make together." Daniel continues, passing Luke a file.
Luke accepts the file with a sigh, opening it up, flicking through it quickly. "I don't care how much we'd make, I am not going to merge with you." Luke states, throwing the file into the trashcan by his desk.
"Just think in 2 years from now, we'd be at the top of the market, more money that we know what to do with, and a stable future." Carter projects his vision.
"I'm already in the the top market, I already have more money than I know what to do with, and my future, yet again, is already stable. So I don't need anything from you, the only person that gains anything is you. You know damn well that my reputation would go down if we merged because everyone knows you're the scum of the industry. So take your bullshit offer and your shit personalities out of my office." Luke responds, and gradually through his whole speech, their faces change into sulking toddlers.
"L-"
"You heard the man." You cut him off, beginning to get annoyed as you really want to spend some time with your husband before you go back to work.
"C-"
"You heard the woman." Luke urges.
"This isn't over." Carter tells him before he storms out, his partners following after him.
"What is he on?" Luke huffs, running a hand through his hair.
"Don't know but it's quite entertaining." You smile, walking over to him.
"I knew he was an idiot, but I didn't think he'd ever do that." He widens his eyes.
"I don't doubt for a second that this is the last you'll hear of this." You say, wrapping your arms around his neck, and he instinctively places a hand on the small of your back.
"You can say that again." He mumbles, brushing his nose against yours. "Anyway, where were we?" He smirks.
"You'd have to remind me." You smile, giving him a look that excites him.
He chuckles lightly before closing the gap between you, beginning to back you up towards his desk after some time.
"We can't be too long, I have to get back to work soon." You inform him, letting out a breath.
"When do you need to be back?" He asks against the skin of your neck.
"In like 20 minutes." You answer, tightening your grip on his desk as he presses his hips against yours.
"Can't you just take the day off?" He questions, pulling away to take your top off.
"No," you laugh. "I have a super important case to deal with." You explain as his hands travel down your back to undo your skirt.
"Can't you just get someone else to do it or your associate?" He suggests as you step out of your skirt, Luke letting out a whine as he sees you're wearing his favourite underwear. "It's almost as if you had this planned."
"That would be a shocker." You reply, and he gets down on his knees, holding your hips as he trails kisses down your stomach. "And no, I can't." You add, running a hand through his hair, and he begins to leave a mark on the inside of your hip.
"Well I guess we have to use this time to our advantage and finish it properly when we get home." He smirks up at you, placing a gentle kiss on your underwear. "Oh and feel free to fire my assistant when you make your way out."
***
Walking down the hallway coming back from a deposition, you push the door open to your office, heading over to your desk sitting down in the expensive chair, and opening your laptop, needing to do some research.
"(Y/N), you have a visitor." Your Secretary informs.
"Who is it?" You ask, looking up.
"Um, I'm not sure, average height, black hair, expensive suit, and there's another guy with him." She describes.
"Okay, let him in." You reply, and she walks out and soon enough Carter and Daniel walk in.
"Funny, I don't remember inviting you here." You state, lacking humour.
"Wow, nice place, you actually do have your own career." Carter chuckles, picking up some things that you have on display.
"Excuse me?" You say.
"Oh it's nothing, it's just I didn't believe that someone like you would actually make a living themselves and doesn't reply on their partner." He shrugs.
"Someone like me?" You raise an eyebrow, taken back by this hostility.
"Yeah, you know, having a rich husband also coming from a wealthy background." He states, making your skin crawl.
Standing up, you place your hands on your desk, leaning over and gaining eye contact with the both of them.
"Listen, I don't know what you think you're going to gain by coming into my office, the office I earned by myself by the way, with the years of education that I paid for myself, but you're sure as hell not getting anything from me. Getting someone to look at my background isn't gonna do shit either, it just shows you're weak that you have to go through Luke's wife's background to try and find something or use something. If you played the slightest attention, you'd already know that I'm not some pushover, so I'm not going to run to Luke and tell him to change his mind. Anyone with a brain can tell you what a shit offer you have, I don't know what you're on but whilst it's entertaining, it can't be good for the long run, though I guess you've not got too much money anymore so you may as well just blow it all and hope for the best. To put it simply, I'm not going to do shit for you, don't play dirty and try to sneak around, and stop wasting your time, it's a dead end. Of course you'd know that if you were smart enough, then again if you were smart you wouldn't even try to approach Luke."
"I see why Luke chose you, you're feisty." Carter laughs.
"Luke didn't choose me." You scoff.
"Hey, baby, are you ready to go ho-" Luke walks in, but pauses when he sees Carter, Daniel, and the pissed off look on your face. "What's going on here?"
"They're just leaving." You say, glaring at them.
"Did you really come to my wife's office to try and get me to agree to your offer?" Luke laughs. "I knew you were stupid but I didn't think you were this stupid."
"They also looked into me." You inform.
"Got to say, beautiful love story." Daniel smiles.
"Thanks, I'm sorry you can't say the same as your ex wife filed for a divorce 7 years ago." You say, with the same patronizing smile.
"How do you know about that?" He asks, anger building up in his eyes.
"We have a mutual friend, and they referred her to me but I don't deal with divorce cases so I turned her away." You shrug, walking over to Luke, who wraps an arm around your waist.
"I guess your love story isn't so sweet anymore as he doesn't even acknowledge you publically, I'd take that as he's ashamed of you." Daniel states.
"It's not like that at all, there's this thing called privacy, and I'm in the room you know." Luke tells them, slightly amused. "I thought you guys were professional, good businessmen go straight for the target, not anything but. Going for my wife is kinda pathetic."
"I think you'd know I play dirty by now, aren't you only just recovering front the blow I took 2 years ago?" Carter taunts.
Luke and you look at each other, knowing exactly that's he's trying to provoke a reaction out of either of you, but also knowing that he's not going to get anything at all of you.
"I mean it took like 6 months but carry on." Luke shrugs, and you walk over to your laptop, closing it, picking some papers up, stuffing them into a file, tidying up before you leave while they continue to talk, as you don't think this is going to go on much long, and you're bored with the conversation
"Seriously, can't you just take the hint? No means no, take that and then leave, or can't you handle someone saying no to you as you've always gotten your own way? Even if someone does say no, you'll sulk and do what ever you can do until you get what you want." You state.
"But there's a first for everything." Luke smiles.
"You're both in this together, planing everything, doing everything together." Carter bitterly replies.
"It's almost as if we were married." You both say in unison, and Luke winks at you with a smirk.
"I don't want to get into bed with someone like you, you already know that it's only you that's going to gain anything from this mergeary. If I wanted to partner up with someone, it'll be with someone I trust, not someone who's been an ass to me and my company for the past 9 years. Either go beg someone else for money, or make something yourself. I'm tired of seeing you stealing other people's ideas, being a vulture, and depending on others to carry you through. I still have no idea how you got this far, I can remember my dad coming home talking about you, and the first time I encountered you I understood him after all the years." Luke huffs.
"Ah, back to the good old days, how's he doing nowadays?" Carter inquires, a distant look in his eyes. "Still doing nothing like his son?"
"You're an absolute moron if you think I'm even going to think about your fucking offer now." Luke responds.
"Doesn't matter, you'll be cursing your choice for the rest of your life. We could make so much, and have a flourishing future, but you decided to listen to the old ball and chain, so that dream died before it became alive."
"No, that dream died the moment I shot you down." Luke corrects
"I think it's about time you leave my office. You've done nothing but be disrespectful to both of us, which is a perfect example of you sulking because you're not getting your own way, and you can't take it when someone says no to you. What made you think it'd be a good idea to turn up here? Did you really think I was just going to make Luke agree to your fucked up deal? You really are something." You laugh, organising a stack of papers. "It's kinda fascinating to be honest, how someone can be this... clueless. I'm sorry, but it baffles me on how you managed to stay in business for so long. It's almost as if you haven't done it yourself, now that would be a shocker." You add, your voice full of sarcasm and patronizium, it's making it hard for Luke not to laugh.
"Now, now Mrs Hemmings, we don't want to expose and embarass Mr Davis any more than we already have, especially in front of his associate." Luke smirks, successfully stifling a laugh, and wrapping an arm around your waist, pulling you into him into him.
"Tip for life, Luke, stop hiding behind your wife." Carter says, making his way towards the door.
"Tip for life, Carter, stop hiding behind your money and people." You reply as he swings the door open.
"You need to put a muzzle or something on her." Carter points at you, then leaves your office, Daniel following after him, and you wave a goodbye at them through the glass, souring his mood even more.
"Nah, I like it when she makes noises." Luke says, facing you with a cheeky look on his face, tilting your face up towards him.
"Unbelievable." You laugh, placing a hand on his side.
"I'm sorry I brought my work to your work." Luke apologises.
"It's not your fault." You defend, placing a kiss to his jaw.
"What do you say we go home and order some take out?" Luke suggests with a small smile, hands trailing down to your hips.
"Sounds great, but let me do one more thing before we leave because someone stole that moment from me." You state closing the gap between you, and Luke can't help but smile into it.
