MLCB Concert: XSY's Farewell
Tumblr media
In truth, I really don’t like this part, because it also represents that we are bidding our characters farewell for good.
Tumblr media
In the morning, when I was getting my makeup done - in an instant, I returned to that summer. I felt that, to be together with good friends, and then having experienced as sweltering a summer as that…
Tumblr media
Such an ardently hot-blooded jianghu was presented to everyone; to stand here today-- Because… Because, during the time of Mysterious Lotus Casebook’s initial broadcast, everyone and all the lianluorens must also be thanked. I know there must have been a lot of difficulties when it was first broadcasted, right? To have reached this step today, I think is already very good. I think it is a result of every person’s hard work.
Tumblr media
Just now, when we were off-stage, Yan-laoshi said something I really like; in an instant, I lost my composure. I don’t think fate is something that will come with enough waiting, or something that can be insisted on having. It’s when there comes a day where we stand together and work hard to strive toward a common goal. The sentiments of that moment, I feel, last forever.
Tumblr media
I hope, however many years later, everyone is still together - that lianluorens can still be together. Thank you, everyone. This summer, thank you to every person. Thank you to all my good companions; thank you, every single person.
Tumblr media
Di Feisheng! Until we meet again!
【莲花楼演唱会】 Mysterious Lotus Casebook Concert - 20230916
江湖路远   山高水长  祝 「繁华」 似锦! The roads of the jianghu stretch far; the mountains are lofty, and the rivers are long. I wish your future to be as splendid as an embroidered tapestry! 「追光」 而行  不负初心  愿 永生难忘! Chase the light as you journey; live up to the original intentions of your heart. I hope this will be unforgettable for your lifetime!
Any mistakes are my own.

Very few people bothered to find out what S1 Izzy / complex Edward enjoyers were interpreting differently than the "Izzy is Kylo Ren / Ed's his victim" crowd that made us like him in the first place, so it figures that now very few people are bothering to understand what a lot of us are criticizing in S2 while the - shockingly - exact same crowd leads the discussion on how it was a beautiful season and Izzy enjoyers are just incapable of decentering their problematic fave.
And it's once again leading to a barrage of posts lecturing us about why the takes they imagine we hold are wrong and supporting the same toxic fandom atmosphere that aimed to harass us all out for a year and a half. Cool. Glad to see no lessons were learned whatsoever.
Only difference is now we actually might leave, on account of you don't generally put up with extended harassment to support a show you don't even think is being written well. 🤷‍♀️

i really didnt see the way alhaitham is acting in the interdarshan as him not wanting kaveh to win so he doesn't move out. in fact that sounds extremely stupid as i type it. sorry to enjoyers of this dynamic but i dont think thats it at all lmao

the amount of people who point out Steven as some kind of money hungry villain manipulating Shane and Ryan in the whole Watcher debacle is so annoying. clearly they just liked Shane and Ryan a lot better and want to take culpability away from them. but all 3 of them made this decision, as far as we know they're all equally accountable. stop making conspiracies based off people's lives you don't know so you can continue to justify your parasocial relationship jfc
#lol i never posted about the channel here so it's kind of out of nowhere. but idk if people rlly read most of my txtposts anyways#but it's so weird. like there are so many comments like “I bet Steven is the one pulling the strings”#like WHAT?#i wasn't really into Steven's personality or shows either. he does kind of give off a materialistic impression with the eating gold#and the Tesla i just found out he has#but you don't know Shane and Ryan either. just bcus they gave off a more favorable impression doesn't mean they can't possibly do this#i find it way more likely this was a decision they all agreed on. if one of them had deep-seated secret doubts they should've spoken up#i really liked unsolved and i watched watcher a lot at the start (all of puppet history especially) but i've barely watched in like a year#like the videos where they had on like bdg and jarvis johnson and the one where they played minecraft#and i started some of the ghost files and puppet history that came out last year but kind of dropped off through the halfway point#so when the streaming announcement came out thankfully i felt like “yeah i'm glad i'm not as into this channel anymore”#“so the idea of buying a streaming service of a youtube channel for $6 a month doesn't even cross my mind”#so the sense of betrayal doesn't really run as deep#imagine if i'd been more into the last season of puppet history or it came out more recently#how much more would i be devastated over this?#my txtstuff

I've seen you get a bunch of shit for WIPs and I just wanted to let you know you don't deserve that. You are an amazingly prolific writer, and a very creative individual. Anything you chose to write is a gift, and fandom is owed nothing from you. <3
aw this is so so kind of you to send!!
i do think every ask about wips is very much sent in good faith and i do keep that in mind when i read them and think about them.
but they can be jarring to get. the last thing i want to do is spend hours of my very real life on a hobby and then feel guilty for not spending those hours correctly on a slightly different aspect of that hobby. you know. like.
i could be learning how to crochet instead or boulder or do peloton classes or something if im gonna feel guilty either way for what im doing in my spare time you know
so thank you for the affirmations <3 they're great to get and read <3

not trying to be mean but honestly any sentiment that's like "[non-Traditional form/genre of literature*] raised my bar for queer representation so much I can't ever return to Published Books because it's all bad straight stuff/straight people writing queerness/etc" is kind of distasteful to me now. they're there. there's literally plenty** out there now if you just look.
[edit: I want to clarify that I don't think published books are inherently better than any other forms of literature and that I'm not trying to say people should always aspire to have a media diet of only 100% Published Literature (the assumptions inherent in which create a false dichotomy anyway bc plenty of published queer books I've read are fun romps whose themes are incidental to the main goal of being fun)
I just dislike the sentiment I've seen around that mainstream queer stuff is either just subtext or written Inauthentically because it's just. untrue. and it cedes ground to queerphobic people saying the only ground queer stories can occupy is artless smut/popcorn trash with no meaning (which isn't a bad thing to be in and of itself, but it's hardly like queerness can't be artistic)]
The Darkness Outside Us came out last year. Ophelia After All came out this year. The Honeys came out this year. the second book of Burning Kingdoms came out this year. Zachary Ying came out this year. Delilah Green came out this year. This is Why They Hate Us came out this year. And that's just the few on my 'anticipated of 2022' GR shelf (+ The Darkness Outside Us because goddamn that book was good).
it's completely fine to be dissatisfied with how the publishing industry (/mainstream media but I'm mostly read so) is! I also have many gripes with it! but it just feels distasteful to demean Published Books on the whole as if it (/other mainstream media but again see above) is a monolith and diminish the the very queer queer books by queer - gender and sexuality - authors (Ocean Vuong, Akwaeke Emezi, Victoria Lee, CB Lee, Ashley Herring Blake, Shaun David Hutchinson, need I go on?)
it's mostly a massive pet peeve of mine but it just feels kinda. lazy? obviously if something like this's post date was like 2010 or if it was a situation where access not awareness is the problem etc that's a different situation but like. most of the posts/tweets/etc I've seen of this are recent and most of them have the tone of "it's perfectly safe for me to read/watch queer media I just couldn't find any" which
I really started reading queer books in 2020ish. I googled 'queer fantasy' (because I like fantasy) and found a bunch of different booklists, took a few recs and just started there. I found lgbtqreads. I followed a few queer folks on GR (once you look through a certain type of books' reviews a few common names start popping up) and noted down the books they were reading and now I have a bunch of queer books that I need to get around to.
I just. if you're into books there's plenty of queer books literally right there (and recently enough big publishers have started publishing them that they're appearing in libraries too). it's not a dichotomy. you don't have to read Published Books if you don't want to but it's not all straight there goddammit. and this isn't even bringing up self-published books
#*fanfic,d/nmei (chinese bl) etc#<- to avoid maintagging#**still not a lot on a percentage basis of total books published (aside from self pub) yeah publishing industry bad but still plenty#in general I dislike the idea that any category of media is inherently anything#also the phrase 'd/nmei raised the bar for queer stories for me' is a bit funny to me bc. these are webnovels. most of them 80+ chapters#and like from what I've seen most of them are either 100ish or 300ish chapters#I don't think they've really gotten popular until recently either too so I doubt most folks have fully read more than two lol#imagine if I watched bloom into you and said 'anime changed queer stories for me' lol#the specific post I saw that got me to put this into words was this one post on the d/nmei subreddit about how reading western quote 'BL'#feels off compared to d/nmei bc they felt like badly written wattpad fics and unrealistic wrt queerness which I was side-eyeing pretty hard#eh it bothered me for a few reasons. some of them I think are fair - the ones I made this post for#some of them I'm not sure is fair which is why they're in the tags#specifically that the specific post reminded me of the stereotype of the straight girl completely uninterested in the messiness and#complexities of queerness or exploring queerness at all (unless it's aestheticised suffering) and just wants to see pretty boys together#but I'm not sure how fair that is because I'm not transmasc and I'm not mlm lol#anyway yea lol#my rambles#queer stuff#media#10n

I think I may finally be ready to read Assassin's Fate. Reading The Left Hand of Darkness made my ROTE brainworms return something fierce, and as a result I started re-reading all my fav parts of all the Fitz books, as happens periodically. However this time, I'm mentally set to find out how his adventure ends (I mean do already have a general idea of how it ends because I've never been that careful about avoiding spoilers, but I don't know that much about specifics).
The only issue with that is a self-imposed one. I created the foolinandfitzin sideblog to document my way through re-reading the first eight Fitz books in the series before getting to the final one (as well as the Rain Wild Chronicles, which I also still haven't read - more on this in a sec). However, my liveblog abruptly stopped in the middle of book 3 - I tried picking it up again, however I decided I won't publish more posts until I'm fully done with the book and can be sure I will actually finish the liveblog this time.
I don't want that to stop me from reading Assassin's Fate, however I still would like to liveblog at least some of my experience of reading it for the first time. So my plan is this - I will read Assassin's Fate now and make posts as I go along (although you probs won't see them until I'm mostly/fully done with the book anyway). This will satisfy my current itch, but will not be a fully complete experience - since I haven't read the Rain Wild Chronicles yet, I expect I will be quite confused/lost by some of the things going on with the characters related to that series. THEN, after I finished Assassin's Fate, I will go back to the other books in the series, including the Chronicles, so that when I get to the Assassin's Fate again I can do a re-read with the full context of what happened in the Rain Wild books.
At least that's my plan for now - I definitely still want to finish my book 3 liveblog since I don't like leaving it unfinished, but may very well decide that I'm done with liveblogging the books after that, at least for a while.

also my blog name wasnt to pretend to be you but to make fun of your username because i think "a dose of did reality" (or even a "a DIDose of reality") is funnier than didadoseofreality
genuinely just replace the word DID with "the shot" or something wild and "a dose of reality" can become a really clever pun for antovaxxers. i think if the op is actually an antivaxxer they can steal that idea and try to come up with a better primary title to be followed by the subtitle "a dose of reality" :P
it would all be really silly shouty lies by an old man/woman/erson who's scared of The Furries Oh my Gosh!!! and it's hillarious
