Very few people bothered to find out what S1 Izzy / complex Edward enjoyers were interpreting differently than the "Izzy is Kylo Ren / Ed's his victim" crowd that made us like him in the first place, so it figures that now very few people are bothering to understand what a lot of us are criticizing in S2 while the - shockingly - exact same crowd leads the discussion on how it was a beautiful season and Izzy enjoyers are just incapable of decentering their problematic fave.

And it's once again leading to a barrage of posts lecturing us about why the takes they imagine we hold are wrong and supporting the same toxic fandom atmosphere that aimed to harass us all out for a year and a half. Cool. Glad to see no lessons were learned whatsoever.

Only difference is now we actually might leave, on account of you don't generally put up with extended harassment to support a show you don't even think is being written well. 🤷‍♀️

see my brain just doesn’t register the idea of anyone having a ‘one true love’ which is why the common fandom tropes of making canonical love interests terrible in order to justify why your ship is better always bugs the shit out of me. it feels like the only reason you would do that is if the idea of the characters in your ship having any other sort of romantic relationship that was important to them, even in the past, is a threat to their current one, therefore all their past relationships need to be demonized in order to make them ‘not real love’ so that they remain pure and chaste and ready for the True Love of the endgame ship.

This is the last thing I'll say on this subject, so put on your listening ears and your reading eyes (historically not a strong suit in this fandom).

First of all, you don't know literally anything about me or my fandom friends, plenty of whom are Elriels that have had my back in a myriad of disagreement that would make your asshole wet. Your mindset of us vs them is so juvenile, the kind of things my twelve year old understands isn't helpful when it comes time to take accountability for the things they've done wrong.

Secondly, relationships are not and do not need to be reciprocal. If I see ya'll acting like mean ass bullies, I'm gonna say something regardless on who has my back. Someone SHOULD- this is a BOOK. You all make me feel like a crazy person sometimes the way you act like advocating for your ship is actually advocacy on par with any social justice movement. Why is there no shortage of complete assholes in this fandom that think just because Roiland's case was dismissed, the accuser should be charged? They not only insist this is how the legal system either should or already does work, but they attack everyone trying to explain that and that it wasn't even the reason he lost his job, that he was a terrible person all around and this was just the last straw- and they still insist he should get his job back, regardless.
