#i hate that 90% of interaction i get is from blank blogs. because if i block them then who is going to read what i put out
Text
I'm convinced people who leave their blog blank are people who just go through writer's masterlists and don't actually follow or view the rest of the blog, so they don't even see posts begging them to not be blank or explaining why.

If You're Smart You'd Read This:
I’m in my 20’s.
I write adult shit so children shouldn’t be interacting with me or my posts.
Blank pages /Ageless pages /Minors get blocked. Like 90% of the shit i post is not suitable for yall lmao.
Don’t ask me for tips/advice on anything such as art, your writing, anything. Google it. Thats what I did.
I speak my opinion. And if you don’t agree idc.
It’s very easy to be blocked by me. So don’t try out the theory of it.
YOU CANNOT BE ANONYMOUS WHEN REQUESTING ONLY NSFW If you want a nsfw request you have to unanon yourself so i can see ur age in ur bio.
Do not ask me super personal questions.
Do not ask me why I will or wont do something.
Do not be annoying and send long mf hcs in my ask. It’ll get deleted.
Do not try and keep having a whole convo w me in my ask (unless ur my mutual) esp. if u anon.
Speaking of Mutuals. I have mutual bias. So theres some things I let them do/say to me that my followers cant.
I will not write: Piss play, rape, incest, furry stuff, Alpha/Omega verse, pet play🧍🏾‍♀️ and will ABSOLUTELY NOT write anything blasphemous about God or other religions
Please only use my ask box for request or genuine questions
I don’t do emergency request
I do not write catgirl or catboy stuff or anything w furries ig (all humans only)
I will write for other fandoms besides One Piece! An example (but not limited to): Jujustu Kaisen, Naruto, Fire Force, Gangsta, etc
Speaking of One Piece my page does contain MAJOR spoilers (ill try to put warnings if i can)
I mostly write for POC/Black Fem Readers but it’s not limited most of the time. Any girl can read.
If you request something please give me time :( I can only write so much in a day.
I hate like 99% of ships people have made in all fandoms so please don’t tell me yours, and if you ask me opinions on them I will be brutally honest with it.
I do not tolerate any form of racism, bullying, or homophobia here. It’s annoying go away.
I also don’t gaf if you don’t agree with my HC…I just…bro go write em yourself I’m not writing these for you.
Please don’t trauma dump on me…just don’t I’m not a therapist.
If you want something specific BE SPECIFIC
I don’t really care for dark content(?) I’m not really sure what it is exactly it is (because I’m stupid) so if your request dark content lmk and if I feel uncomfortable with it ill decline lol
I will NOT Write NSFW for characters like Chopper, Brook, etc
I will NOT Write for demons like Sukuna or characters from Obey Me
If your share repost/blog my writing please give credit!
I really only write female x male NSFW. (I will however write fxf or mxm platonically) That’s just personal preference and what I feel best writing :) please respect that decision.
I don’t do character x character writing unless it’s canon (…or if it’s eren and Mikasa i—)
I do NOT age up characters for nsfw writing. If they’re not canonically already an adult or have a pre timeskip I’m not doing that. I’ll do SFW ones though!
I do have to right to not write for a character I just simply don’t like so don’t get mad if I don’t.
Remember: this is mf FAN FICTION writing. Just a bunch of ideas I have in my weird head so if u don’t like or agree with it dip.
I’ll keep this rule list updated (ill reblog when i update the list) when I can if new stuff comes up. I’m relatively new on here so bare with me :(

I'd prefer for this blog to pretty much be a small circle and not overly involved beyond with my mutuals tbh, and also I'd like to avoid any sort of discourse I don't care what it is about as much as possible I'm literally begging or I'll spray the water bottle. ;-;. Putting it on my dash is automatic block and even moreso trying to argue.
Also if I blocked you I have no damn obligation to elaborate why be it if you're someone new that didn't pass the vibe check or even a mutual that just gave me a very good reason to never trust or respect them again.
To add on to that don't try sending others to ask me because I'm not gonna respond to that. Even if they're shared mutuals of ours. Might as well get them blocked too. Idgaf.
So as of today I'm mostly into : Attack on Titan , Sailor moon (90's anime! ), fruits basket , BNHA, Bleach, Akatsuki no yona, & reading 🤧✨ (& my top 3 from each)

Which fictional character would be the most boring to meet? Someone from a Shakespeare play. Lol. I could never get into his old language. <<< haha, yeah I agree with that.
Which body part would you not mind losing? I mean, as a paraplegic I don’t have any feeling or control of my legs or feet... that would be weird for still to not have them, though. I’d like to keep them anyway.
What common saying people use is absolute BS to you? Haha, so I looked up some ideas cause I was blanking and I came across an article that listed “I, personally” as one and went on to say, “as opposed to “I, collectively”?” and it made me chuckle cause it’s true, but also cause I say that :X
What is the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week? The books I’m reading, “Forgiving What You Can’t Forget” by Lysa TerKeurst and “Autumn’s Rage” by Mary Stone.
What’s the most useless talent you have? I’m so talentless I don’t even have any useless talents.
What’s something everyone looks stupid doing? Making a big show of refusing to wear a mask and starting fights over it.
Which kids’ movie scarred you for life? Thankfully, I wasn’t scarred by any kid’s movie.
In one sentence, how would you sum up Internet? The internet is useful but potentially dangerous. <<< Stealing Elisabeth’s answer.
What would be the most ridiculous thing for the government to make illegal? I’m worried about that happening with pain meds one day; there’s already such strict laws about them. I don’t know what the solution is to the overdoses and people abusing them, but a lot of people genuinely need them and shouldn’t have to be miserable and in pain. For some people, that’s the only thing that helps at all or makes things bearable for them. Apparently, it’s gotten bad because now my pain doctor prescribes the nasal spray that helps in case of an overdose along with my pain medication.
What’s the weirdest thing a guest has done in your home? Uhh. Nothing weird comes to mind.
How many friends do you have on social media and how many of them do you know for real? My Facebook is only people I know, I, for the most part, only accept requests from people I know in real life on Instagram as well, but there’s some people I’ve met online that I’ve allowed to follow my IG and I follow a lot of celebrities and YouTubers on there, Snapchat is only people I know, and Twitter and Tumblr are completely public and anyone can follow me unless I feel the need to block someone for whatever reason. Also, no one I know in real life follows me on Tumblr. I used to have a friend and one of my cousins that followed my main blog, but they both no longer use Tumblr.
If Mars was livable, would you accept a one-way ticket there? Nooo. Just the idea of outer space scares me.
What fact amazes you every time you think of it? Hmmm.
What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done? I don’t do a lot of spontaneous things.
What skill or craft would you like to master? Having a skill or craft at all would be nice.
What separates true friends from acquaintances? People you talk and interact with on a regular basis and feel you can tell things to and trust.
Where do you find meaning in your life? My faith.
What has taken up too much of your life? My health.
What is in your fridge right now? Food and drinks.
Where do you not mind waiting? I’m really impatient so I don’t know.
Is there an app you hate to use, but still use every day? No?
Who is the funniest person you know? My mom and brother.
What three words describe you best? Depressed, tired, moody.
What makes you think you’re smart? I don’t think I’m all that smart.
Who inspires you? I haven’t felt inspired in a long time. :/
Do you aspire to be like somebody else? If so, who? I’d like to be a better and improved version of myself instead of the mess I’ve become.
How did you meet your best friend? She gave birth to me.
Which one of your accomplishments are you the most proud of? My depression brain doesn’t feel proud of anything I’ve done, really.
What’s something you’re dying to tell but no survey ever asks about? Nothing is coming to mind.
What's the strangest thing you ever did as a child? I used to often check if my heart was beating lol, which obviously it was. I still do that sometimes lmao. I know it’s beating, but I guess it’s more to check the heart rate.
Is there anything you do to reduce stress? There’s things I try and may help a little in the moment, but the stress remains.
What makes you feel afraid? Many things.
What did your mother teach you? She’s taught me a lot throughout my 31 years of life and still is.
What did your father teach you? ^^^
What makes you feel powerful? I don’t feel powerful. Never have.
What are you ready to let go? I don’t know.
Are you eco-conscious? If so, how? We recycle cans and plastic bottles.
What’s your 90s jam? So many. I love 90s music.
What is your most bizarre deal-breaker? Uhhh. I don’t think I have any bizarre ones... none come to mind.
Would you rather be hated or forgotten? Forgotten, I guess.
What’s the biggest personal change you’ve made? Hmm.
What are some of your short-term goals? I don’t really have any at the moment. I should.
What’s your philosophy in life? I don’t know, man.
What is the weirdest thing about you? I’m just weird.
How do you define beauty? It’s so much more than just the physical.
Are you health conscious? If so, how? No.
What’s your day-to-day mantra? I don’t have one.
How do you wish to be remembered? I know my loved ones would remember me and that’s all that matters to me.

i wanna ask (cause i love Being Asked): what is is your favorite thing about shatterstar, magneto, laura kinney, & illyana ratsputin? + what is your least favorite thing about how they are written? also??? your personal favorite comics of all each of them. once again, i love your blog and your taste is 👌👌👌
thank you!! sorry if you asked this a while ago I’ve gotten really busy again with school + work
OK So idk if I’ve talked about this before, but I have a really defined “type” when it comes to favorite characters and basically if a character falls into the “Dont Be What They Made You” trope I will AUTOMATICALLY stan. pretty much any character who was genetically engineered for a certain purpose or raised to fill a certain role and chose not to be that….I love that! I’ve reflected on why and it gets into some really deep james lore so we won’t go into that. so that’s at least part of the reason I love ‘star and laura and illyana because they all fall into that trope.
‘star specifically my favorite thing about him is that he’s… We will avoid dangerous waters and say he is “Relatable”. like idk if it is obvious but I DO not know how to interact with people and be a functional Person with feelings like obviously I have gotten way better at it but I am still learning and seeing that reflected in him really HITS diffferently. also his journey from like when hes new to earth and seeing everything as a fight and being really combative and kind of thinking the point of life is to be Good At Fighting…. To being someone who fiercely loves his friends and cares deeply about people and has hobbies and incherests and stuff. I really feel like if its possible for him its possible for me to have a similar journey I guess? Also I love his aesthetic andthe fact that he is, at least in the 90s before p*ter david de-fruit-ified him in xfi, a gnc bi man. i could get into specifics w/ laura and illyana too but i unfortunately have class soon
my least favorite thing about the way ‘star gets written is.. Actually theres 2 first of all when he gets written as a slutty bi stereotype. Like lets all be honest between us gays he IS a thot but he is a thot 4 one person. second of all I hate it when writers ignore the growth he has had and just write him as basically a liability to the team due to being …. a bloodthirsty idiot I guess ? if that makes sense
my least favorite thing about how laura … And illyana actually this applies to them both. my least favorite thing about how they are written is the fact they are Scary Traumatized Women So That Means They Can Be Sexy. Like I swear to god they have 2 of the best backstories in marvel if anyone would  bother to write them with the complexity of a male character that shit would slap so bad but instead they always just get reduced to sexy badass trauma woman. including when they were both teenagers
oh I forgot u asked about magneto too I . cant go too into this at 9:18 AM on a wednesday bc I will cry but I love that he knows exactly what he is and stands by it like he knows whats best for mutants and he does whatever it takes to protect his people. I also love that he takes responsibility of the New mutants GOD that shit.  Also he is sexy
favorite comics: for ‘star it’s definitely xforce vol1 but we all know this. for laura probably uhhhhh the marjorie liu x23 run. i also really really loved the generations wolverine and all new wolverine oneshot. honestly i’m blanking on my fav illyana comic I’ll probably remember it later but its a more modern one I think?? I literally cannot remember what it is right now but I will think of it later and for magneto it’s either the part of new mutants where he takes over for charles or uxm #200-201 the trial of magneto

answer all the ones you have an interesting answer for, i guess?
i had FAR too much fun with this and it’s horrifically long so. Apologies For That. also thank you friend
2: What’s your dream pet? (Real or not)i really want some finches, when i'm actually in a place to care for an animal? maybe a pigeon3: Do you have a favorite clothing style?in real life i actually Wear button downs and black jeans most of the time for convenience. *ideally* it would be something more like "unholy union of like three different goth aesthetics, and sith fashion, and also Pirate. and spikes/chains/glowy lights." it's probably good for everyone else's eyes that i'm too cheap to redo my entire wardrobe in line with my ideal aesthetic sensibilities. i also have a set color scheme; at most one bright color, which is generally red, blue, or purple, and everything else should be black or grey. 8: What is your Greek personality type? [Sanguine, Phlegmatic, Choleric, or Melancholic]melancholic with choleric leanings.9: Are you ticklish?nope! im pretty sure i trained myself out of it 12: Do you prefer tea, coffee, or cocoa?tea. i like the taste of coffee if it's very heavily creamed and sugared but it does terrible things to my body so i don't drink it. too much chocolate also makes me sick14: Would you rather be a vampire, elf, or merperson?VAMPIRE. practically already am. 16: How tall are you?5'7"-5'8". measurements have varied. 17: If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?starscreamthis one is Already a name change? i've been through a few names and honestly i'm pretty happy with "ren." i thought about changing to something people could actually spell right on the first try, but nothing Felt right? 20: Do you like space or the ocean more?ocean! but both are pretty neat21: Are you religious?yes, but it's not remotely clear what i actually believe, just that it's Something  23: Would you rather be nocturnal or diurnal [opposite of nocturnal]?i'm already practically nocturnal tbh and it's fun 30: Favorite movie?i really appreciate the star wars prequels32: How many pets have you own in your lifetime?nine; six fish and three budgies, not all at the same time37: What is your eye color?green38: Introvert or extrovert?i think the whole dichotomy is a bit overhyped and doesn't exactly apply to me. my situation is more that i act like extroverts are "supposed" to with close friends but people i don't already know and like very much are deeply exhausting to be around and i'd rather not40: Hugs or kisses?depends. hand/forehead/cheek/etc kisses are intensely blessed and important to me, but i don't particularly enjoy making out or whatnot, and hugs are Very nice. 42: Who is someone you love deeply?tumblr user @autisticsansa44: Do you like tattoos and piercings?yeah!45: Do you smoke or have you eiver done so?yeah, occasionally. obligatory disclaimer that it's a terrible habit and you shouldn't start. it's more a "i'm extremely anxious and need to do SOMETHING" thing than a regular habit, though. 57: Have any mental disorders? [Only ask this if you know the user doesn’t mind!]several. it's just not 100% clear which ones. the most recent Professional Opinion was OCD and CPTSD with probably related anxiety and depression. also autism but i don't think that's quite the same thing58: What does your URL mean?it's a pun on "neurodivergent" that i stole from someone else's post about liches61: What makes you unfollow a blog?if your opinions start pissing me off too much or you post things i consider morally objectionable or dangerous to me. also if we have a sufficiently bad personal fight. i don't really care if a mutual or someone i've been following for a long time stops having common interests with me or anything like that, at that point i'm invested in You as a Person and will stick around for that64: Favorite animal(s):all birds. also cetaceans69: What is your star sign?i'm a fake scorpio. i have been telling people i'm a scorpio and tagging zodiac posts accordingly for literal years, out of a combination of the stereotype applying to me much better than the one for my Actual Birthday and residual influence from homestuck. 76: Do you like birds?i LOVE birds.86: Can you run a mile within ten minutes?i can't run a mile at ALL i'll have an asthma atatck88: Can you touch your toes and keep your legs straight completely?no and trying hurts90: If you were an animal, which one would you be?goth cockatoo94: Would you rather be able to fly or read minds?both of those sound fantastic. i want to say fly, though, both because bird thing!!!!, my latest batch of Attachment/Projection Characters has me thinking about the idea a lot, and mind reading seems like it would likely become a burden on me. i struggle enough with other people's feelings about me as it is96: Winter or summer?winter. summer is consistently a miserable time for me101: Favorite type of shoesaesthetically, high heeled black lace up boots. irl i mostly wear combat boots, though103: Are you a vegetarian or vegan? If so, why?vegetarian. i don't really Know why; it was how i was raised, i have no actual desire to eat meat, and i'm reasonably certain trying to start now would interact disastrously with a lot of my preexisting food issues. also, some of you are incapable of not responding to asshole vegans by acting like eating meat is a moral imperative and it's ok to bully people who don't. so even if i did want to, i wouldn't out of sheer spite106: Do you like bugs?depends on the kind. bees/wasps, dragonflies, and butterfly/moth type things are all fine. i'm deathly afraid of crickets107: Do you like spiders?yeah! i think they're cute109: Can you draw:not very well, but i keep doing it anyway114: Do you prefer cloudy or sunny days?cloudy. bright light tends to hurt me115: Someone you’d like to kiss or cuddle right now:i'm in an odd place right now where i'm either not sure if the people i'm closest to (and/or most want to Become close with) would be comfortable with anything of the sort, or know for a fact that they wouldn't be, so i'm going to refrain from naming anyone, but certain friends129: What would you want written on your tombstone?"túrin turambar dagnir glaurunga." for old times' sake/the sentimental value. i doubt christopher tolkien would give anyone permission for that, though131: What is something you love but also hate about yourself?arrogance, ambition, drive to succeed out of sheer Spite. it's a very good aesthetic, but i don't imagine it's very pleasant to actually *interact* with someone with a complex about being #1 132: Do you smile with your teeth showing for pictures?nope. i exclusively either smirk or keep my face as blank as possible; i don't think smiling like that looks good on me. 133: Computer or TV?computer. i don't actually know how to operate a television139: What nicknames do you have/have had?a lot. tends to come with changing your name 500 times. atm i don't really have any, to my slight disappointment140: Did you have any pretend or imaginary friends?i had imaginary enemies as a kid143: Do you prefer giving or receiving gifts/help?depends? it's hard for me to help people, especially to guess what kind of thing actually Is helpful to them, and i absolutely LOVE being given things, but also if i know someone well enough that we're giving each other things i would feel absolutely terrible not reciprocating, and doing it makes me happy. 145: How many languages do you speak fluently?only english, unfortunately. i have like a six year olds level of russian, which i want to improve, and i think i Could get there with japanese eventually if i start taking classes again147: Are you androgynous?honestly i can't really tell? not deliberately so, particularly, but i think i have a very Traditionally Feminine kind of pretty face and the way that combines with mostly masculine presentation and facial hair is pretty androgynous148: Favorite physical thing about yourself:this isn't a Specific Thing per se, but i do think HRT has been taking my appearance in a very "g1 seeker" direction and i am DELIGHTED151: If you could go back into time and live in one era, which would you choose?hm. viking stuff is a Big Aesthetic, but also i think i deserve to be a sickly victorian gentleman and die of tuberculosis154: Do you like to kiss others’ foreheads or hands for platonic reasons?YES. this is one of my favorite forms of affection irl. also hand kissing is The Most Valid kind of kissing. 155: Do you like to play with others’ hair?yes!!!157: Something that makes you nervous/anxious:talking to people when i'm not 100% sure where i stand with them or how much they like me. especially if i'm requesting anything.168: Do you like to wear makeup?i used to. i probably still would if i could do it without being read as a woman, but as it is the discomfort of being misgendered outweighs the joy of Having Sparkly Colors on My Face

The 100 rewatch: 1x01 Pilot
I’m a new fan of The 100, who first binged it last year, August to November. This is my first full rewatch of the show. I was planning to start it anyway and finish it before the season 6 premiere on April 30, and when I saw that Fox Serbia was airing a rerun (Monday to Friday, 40 min. after midnight, with repeats the next day), starting on 1st February, it was a great opportunity to start my rewatch in HDTV on my beautiful new TV. I decided to do write-ups and tag other fans on SpoilerTV website, as I did when I was first watching the show. But my posts turned into full blown essays. So, finally, after over a week, I’ve realized: Why don’t I post them on my Tumblr blog, too? I’ll copy my write-ups of the first 7 episodes, and then I’ll post my rewatch posts after I watch each episode. (The next one, 1x08, is on Monday’Tuesday.)
Spoilers below for all 5 seasons of the show. I go of on a tangents and make a lot of references to future events.
Rating: I'd give the Pilot 4/10, maybe 4.5/10 if I'm generous.
Episode opens on Clarke's voiceover. The first mention of how Ark came to be. There were "12 nations" with stations in the beginning, 97 years earlier, and the current Ark is "one station forged from the many". Which begs some questions: how did they manage to make everyone on the Ark speak English (and in American accents), why are they so culturally uniform? Did they try to do it by force? And why did big powers like China and Russia go along with it? But world-building has never been this show's strength. The opening scene shows Clarke drawing, and focuses on her father's watch. Some facts I had forgotten - the cells on the Ark were called "Skybox". Clarke says she is turning 18 in a month. This means she turned 18 sometime in late season 1 and was about 18 and a half year old in season 4. In season 5, she should be about 24 and a half year old. Abby is the first other major character to appear. Abby to Clarke "Your instincts will tell you to take care of everyone else first, like your father", stressing that this is the similarity between Clarke and Jake. "I can't lose you, too, I love you so much" First appearance of Jaha - on the video played to the Delinquents on the dropship. The kids comment: "your dad's a dick, Wells". Yes, he is. "If we knew for sure the Earth was survivable, we would send others. You are being sent down because your crimes have made you expendable". Oh god, he's awful. He became a more enjoyable character in season 4, just because of his interactions with other characters, but he's always been an a-hole. Jaha tells the kids to go to Mount Weather, explains what it is and that it has supplies for about 300 people to survive for 2 years. I had completely forgotten that there were so many Mount Weather references. This was clearly a storyline that was planned from the beginning. The first casualties on the show - 2 Delinquents who imitated Finn's stupid behavior on the dropship, but, unlike him, were killed when the ship crash-landed. When they land, it turns out they landed on a wrong mountain, instead of Mount Weather, due to a technical error. Who knew that this was the luckiest thing that ever happened to them? Clarke and Wells later insist that the kids should go to MW ASAP and find supplies. Every time someone in the episode talks about Mount Weather and says things like "We have to find Mount Weather to survive", it's so ironic now. No, you need to run as far from Mount Weather as possible. Run, run, fast, and don't turn back. At the end of the episode, they try to cross the river, and Jasper even finds a Mount Weather sign. In retrospect, they are so lucky they did not go through with it, after Jasper got speared, but who was to know? Kane looks so young compared to his season 5 self. And it's funny to see early Kane, who was kind of a bad guy. He's so pessimistic and insisting on ruthless solutions as necessary, a total opposite of where his views end up later. But the one consistent trait is that he's always been so stubborn about sticking to whatever course of action he thinks is best, and even naive about it. At this point, he's all about sticking to the rules. And here's Shumway, who seems to want the culling to happen even more than Kane does. I never understood what the supposed difference in policy was between Diana and Jaha. Diana was claiming to be fighting for the rights of the underprivileged? But Shumway is working for her, and wants the culling to happen, Jaha and Kane are intending for the culling to happen... What's the difference? They're all the same. Shumway is also the one to tell Kane about Bellamy's shooting of Jaha - and Kane says they have a traitor. Shumway close-up, he says nothing. Foreshadowing. Scene between Kane and Abby near the end of the episode. Kane says he's the only one willing to do what needs to be done so they survive. Abby: "That's the difference between us, Kane. I choose to make sure we deserve to stay alive." Ironic how they'll end up switching positions during the Dark Year. But then Abby starts hating herself over what she has become. The thing I liked best about the Pilot the first time was that it was really good at explaining the premise and getting a lot of info across, without clunky exposition. Oh god, about half of the Pilot was sooo cheesy. Most of the scenes with kids on Earth are so teen-soapy. That's why I initially preferred the stuff on the Ark (but then a few episodes later, I felt the exact opposite). Especially 90% of Octavia's lines in the Pilot are so cringey,I remember I only found it to be 'just OK' at the time I first watched it, good enough to keep watching, but I only got hooked around 1x05 when it started losing most of its CWness. But now, after having seen the rest of the show, the tone is so weird - so teen-soapy. I guess the first time, I expected the show to be like that, because of the channel it's on - a teen-soap take on post-apocalyptic SciFi. The pop songs and the scenes with kids enjoying the Earth were so corny but I guess they were meant to be, to make the contrast bigger when something bad suddenly happens, like Jasper getting speared at the end of the episode. Or that mutant deer, that was a good scene. Funny that we never get to see any of the scary nature stuff again. What happened to the man-eating water snake? The show pretty much forgets all of that later, because we get human antagonists on Earth. I also probably blanked out a lot of the cheesy teen-soapy stuff the first time, because I wasn't interested, since I didn't even remember some of it. All the potential pairings and flirtations that went nowhere now seem so random and funny. They were clearly just throwing anything to the wall to see what sticks. Who remembers that Octavia used to have a thing for Finn in the Pilot and said "Finn is mine" to Clarke, and he briefly flirted with her? Then there was Jasper's crush on Octavia, but that one actually did last a bit longer in season 1. The show really seemed to be trying to make Finn the main heartthrob. Of course, Finn's main interest was flirting with Clarke non-stop and following her around all the time. The fact he started hitting on her immediately in the dropship really makes him look bad now (whether or not that was initially intended - since they probably still hadn't planned for Raven's character to exist.)
And look, here's Kelly Hu as Kane's girlfriend/Abby's best friend, who was clearly supposed to be one of the mains, and then completely disappeared without explanation after the Pilot. Kelly Hu was even in the main credits for the Pilot, right after Bob Morley, who was credited 6th - after Eliza and Paige and Thomas McDonnel and Eli Goree and after Marie. Which pretty much fits their screentime in the Plot. I doubt they were expecting Bellamy to become the male lead, Finn and Wells were clearly treated as the male leads. Speaking of Bellamy - AARGH, that terrible slicked-back hair! My eyes, my eyes!!! I remember now why I had such mixed feelings about him in the Pilot, unlike others who said they hated him. I mean, he was clearly meant to be seen as an antagonist at this point, but most of the things he says about the privileged and the elite on the Ark is true. I still think that the Ark leaders were the first villains introduced on the show. They sucked. Even if we weren't supposed to see them as villains, and even if some of them later changed and developed (Kane). I wasn't sure how much of what Bellamy said was just him using that rhetoric to manipulate the kids. but the first time he says "let the privileged do something for a change", he said it before he learned about the wristbands. So, some of that anger was sincere. (And it was certainly justified.) A bit later we see Bellamy listening carefully and formulating a plan as Clarke is explaining to the kids that the wristbands are transmitting their life signs to the Ark.
I don't know where the later idea of Bellamy as a completely hotheaded guy who can't act in a strategic or manipulative comes from. One of the first things we saw him do in the show was manipulate a bunch of younger people into something that would help him not get caught and executed by the Ark leaders, so he could stay and protect his sister. That's what he's doing for the fist few episodes. The first kids he convinces to take the wristbands off and make others do the same are Murphy and John Mbege. It's funny that Mbege's role was at this point almost as big as Murphy's. We still haven't seen Harper or Miller.
So many scenes of conflict between Bellamy and Wells in this episode. It seems like they probably meant for that dynamic to be an important one going forward, with the two of them as foils. "See you on the other side". Oh, god. Those lines will never be the same. It's actually Finn who said it first when he was about to cross the river by rope, but then Jasper went first to impress Octavia, and said that line for the first time. And here comes the spear. "We are not alone". Well, duh. But Clarke had to say that line for a very Lost-like ending to the Pilot. Geez, I can see how this bunch of clueless, silly kids with no weapons, fooling around, looked like such a dangerous invading force to the Grounders who saw them. Yes, the season 5 comparison between them and the heavily armed mass murderers from Eligius who immediately tried to kill the first people they ran across, was soooo apt... *sigh*.

Anna Strong Costume Appreciation Post: Part 2: Colonial Casuals
Tumblr media
Okay, it’s a terrible pun, but I had to start somewhere! This is the second part of my costume nerdery re Anna’s Strong’s onscreen wardrobe. You can find the first part here:
Costume does a lot of the heavy lifting with characters in tv and film, before they even open their mouths onscreen. How someone looks, what they wear - it’s a big piece of how they’re presented, in addition to the actor’s performance  and with period pieces it can help influence a character’s performance. A lot of actors often bring their own ideas of the character to the costume designer, and they work together to bring the character to life. I’d normally refer to the excellent Frock Flicks blog for this sort of commentary , but they were kinda underwhelmed by the costumes:http://www.frockflicks.com/turn-washingtons-spies-2014/
So, its a daft fluffy British nerd to the rescue! A long post on the lovely Anna Strong, and her costumes through the show. All credit for these amazing pieces goes to costume designers Donna Zakowska (seasons1-2) and Lahly Poore (seasons 3-4)
In my last post,we looked at Anna’s finer gowns. Today is going to be what I like to call the ‘colonial casuals’ that Anna wears throughout the show’s four seasons, as well as a couple of gowns I missed out on the first time round:
2:Anna’s Simpler Gowns!
A: The Purple Stripe Gown:
Sadly, a lovely gown we see once in Episode 2 and then it vanishes offscreen, never to be seen again. It’s a nice purple/grey stripe in a warm linen, very much an everyday dress. Stripes are very much Anna’s thing, it seems - (but they are also an 18th century thing. ) Anna wears it whilst doing hate-laundry for her unwanted redcoat house-guests, being uncomfortably stalked by Simcoe and urging Abe on to consider spying, all in the course of one episode!

Nothing in purple, but this much finer silk stripe has much the same silhouette as Anna’s.
B: The Green Jacquard Dress
(Screencaps provided by the wonderful farfarawaysite.com)
This is what I like to call Anna’s “Cursed Gown”, because boy, does a lot happen to her in it! We first see it on screen in Season 1. It’s a subtle dark-green silk, but very simply made up, and we see Anna wearing it as an everyday middle-class gown - not something you’d do chores in, but appropriate to everyday lady-like activities. I actually made a list of things that happen to Anna throughout the series whilst wearing it:
1) Has to tell Abigail she’s “still” enslaved, and being sent off to work from stangers away from her son and everyone she’s ever known.
2) Almost has adulterous table-sex with Abe during that clinch mid-season 1.
3) Is thrown out of Whitehall by Mr Pompous Woodhull down below there in Season 2.
4) Immediate next scene? Anna rejects Simcoe, in a terrifying ‘oh-God what’s going-to happen’ scene that had me seriously frightened for her.
5) Gets revenge-snogged by Simcoe in front of the entire town, ruining her reputation.
6) Watching murdered redcoat corpses swing in the breeze as Simcoe begins his rivalry with Hewlett.
7) ANOTHER terrifying ‘oh-God what’s going-to happen’ scene: When captured by those Queens Rangers: the one where Anna is almost coreced into sex with a random Queens Ranger goon - before straight up STABBING him in the crotch and then shooting him, point-blank, in the FACE.
And then we don’t see it again after Season 2 finishes. Poor Anna.
(To be fair, she probably burned it afterwards, and I don’t blame her. Nothing good ever seems to happen to her when she’s wearing it.)

This is a finer version than Anna’s with a bigger damask print, as working class dress doesn’t tend to survive as well as the gorgeous silks. But based on the style? Yes, 10/10 for accuracy. I just hope nicer things happened to the person who wore this one!
C: The Russet Jacquard Dress:
I only have one measly screencap for this one, and it doesn’t even show most of the dress! Boo. It looks identical to the Cursed Dress even down to the jacquard silk, but it’s in a warm brown-red. Anna wears it during the “Battle of Setauket” Season 1 finale episode, (discovers her friends have been lying to her about her husband being dead, and then jumps into a river in it to swim back to Abe - hum, maybe that pattern is cursed?)

How Historic Is it?
Tumblr media
Hmm... difficult to say, based on the one screen shot! I’m assuming it’s basically the same silhouette as the green dress. I think I need to rewatch to give it a proper look.
D: The Grey Dress, with 2  Bodices:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On a fashion level, these dresses are pretty nondescript - well, they’re grey. And plain. But what I like best about them is that there’s two bodices for them - one, a jacket with Anna’s trademark peplum back and long sleeves for colder weather, and then there’s another one with shorter sleeves, ruffles and some discreet trim for when it’s warm. I find it interesting that Anna wears the grey dresses a lot when having shy, cute interactions with Hewlett. Is it suggesting a  softening of her hatred for the British as simply the ‘enemy’ once she gets to knew Hewlett as a person? That’s probably reading too much into it, but never mind. I like my costume subtext.
How Historic Is It?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly? I’m not sure. Sadly I struggled to find pictures for this. If we’re going 90 years later, making different interchangeable bodices for one dress was definitely a thing in the 1860s:
Tumblr media
But from the existing gowns I’ve found online, it doesn’t appear to be a thing (or at least, nothing we have evidence for) in the 18th century.  But mixing and matching skirts and jackets with petticoats is something everyone did, the same way we mix t-shirts with pants and skirts, and it suits Anna’s practical personality - as well as the fact Anna isn’t wealthy anymore. She’s going to have to make do with what she has. So I am giving the designers a pass on this one, with an added tick for practical wardrobe decisions.
And that’s it for now, folks! I don’t want to make this post TOO LONG! The final post on Anna’s wardrobe will be looking at her jackets, stays and quilted jumps.

The Power of FANDOM
Yes, FANDOM must be in all caps in that title.
Back when I started this blog as an author I came out as someone who is pro-fanfiction. In fact, I've been plenty honest about the fact that I've written fanfiction in the past, still write fanfiction and no doubt will continue to do so in the future.
Fandom is a lot more than simply fanfiction. It's fan art, it's AMVs, it's parody, it's meta. It's simply talking about a show with you co-workers/friends. Fandom isn't just about going to conventions or buying merchandise or posting gifsets on Tumblr. Though those are all good fannish things! Fandom is the power of the people putting their time and money and emotions into a piece of media and comes at all levels of commitment. And fandom can be powerful.
Exhibit A: Dragon Ball (Z, GT, F, Kai and Super and every non canon movie ever, etc.)
Dragon Ball started in Japan back in 1984 as a Shonen Jump manga about a genius scientist and a boy with a tail on quest for the mythical dragon balls. (So she could wish for an endless supply of strawberries or a perfect boyfriend. She was 16, cut her some slack.) It started making traction in the US in the mid to late 90s as Toonami started importing more Japanese anime across the pond. And here we are in 2018, Dragon Ball Super is on it's fifth season in the Universe Survival Saga. That is over 20 years of Goku vs. the next big bad shenanigans.
The only way this happened was through a huge and still in some spaces thriving fandom. Dragon Ball became the bar and the standard for a Shonen (boy focused) fighting manga and inspired another huge fan favorite, Naruto. There is an entire group called Team Four Star that have created a parody of Dragon Ball Z called Dragon Ball Abridged where they cut down the drawn out fights and crank the character's personalities up to eleven for the humor factor. (Given that Akira Toriyama is a humor writer at heart, this can be entertaining since many of his character are already parodies.) And the success of Dragon Ball Abridged is considered part of the reason that Dragon Ball GT has been replaced with Dragon Ball Super. (Or Super has gone in the middle of Z and GT or something.)
So, boys (and girls) of every age can still debate who is better, Vegeta or Goku, 19 years after Vegeta's introduction! Thanks to video parody and the fact that DBZ merchandise still sells and sells and sells.
A lot of these super fandoms have a major thing in common, fandom world building.
Exhibit B: Harry Potter
When Harry Potter first came out, my mother bought the first book because she wanted to see what the divisive fuss in Christian circles was all about. By the time I finished college, we ended up having all seven books. Harry Potter still has a huge following, the books are still on the tops of every fantasy book search. There are new movies coming out. JK Rowling created Pottermore and tweets facts about the universe still. There is still a great deal of interest in Harry Potter.
One of the reasons of this, and it happened in Dragon Ball as well, is that the author became so focused on telling their adventure story that the world building was closer to broad outlines than actual sketches. And this left a lot of wiggle room for fans to fill in the blanks with their own ideas and own rules and thoughts. Sure, a lot of it a pre-teen and teenage Harry Potter didn't actually need to know in the books. (But did we really have to spend half of the seventh book running around the forest either, no.)
In fact, in Exhibit A, Vegeta is an alien that hasn't been raised on Earth like Piccolo or Goku has and this fact is blatantly ignored throughout the entire series and Vegeta's inability to integrate with the other warriors is more often portrayed as him being an aloof jerk rather than him just not getting Earth society and not being able to set aside his pride and ask. In Harry Potter, Harry did ask a lot of questions. Whether or not he asked the correct questions is up for debate. But in Harry Potter, given that muggles came into Wizard Society on a semi-regular basis, the wizards had a slight understanding of how to deal with it.
The unanswered questions and the fun that the fans had in creating their own answers to them really prolonged the longevity of the series. (In trying to answer some of the questions, JK Rowling created more questions!)
Of course, there is also the mega-cross over fandoms.
Exhibit C: Supernatural
I'll admit. Even after 12 seasons, I haven't managed to sit down and watch one episode of Supernatural even though 2 good looking guys, a classic car and hunting monsters should be my jam. But nothing about that premise (even well done) should have given Supernatural the legs it's had. And the fandom is or at least was rather rabid in my wide eyed let's skirt about the edges of this lurking. And nothing would account of that except the rise of the super crossover fandom.
Think Supernatural plus Doctor Who plus Sherlock all in the same universe and the characters playing off each other even if the different story's rules are completely different and why would Sherlock leave Britain? But, it kept people interested in all three of those shows. It kept people going back and watching for more hints and clues and ideas to put into their stories. It kept Supernatural in the minds of FANDOM.
(And after mega crossovers came the revival of the coffee shop AU and the invention of the florist, tattoo shop AU, then the ABO stuff, and I'm not sure where we've gone from there. Fandom, you be crazy and I love you.)
But, as it is, most the intellectual property right holders of these huge mega-fandoms have a love/hate relationship with their fans. While they love the attention that fandom can bring to their works, they want fans to only react in certain ways. It's rumored the animation company behind Dragon Ball hates Dragon Ball Z Abridged, even though the current writers and animators on the ground are also rumored to love it. (So much that it might have influenced the characterizations of the characters in Super.) Granted, not all fans have interacted with the principals (actors, writers etc) appropriately. It still makes very little sense to bite the hand that buys your merchandise and keeps up your television ratings. Especially over works that 99% of the time, the fan makes no money off of. The fandoms that embrace their fans (Buffy, AtlA, I'm looking at you) deserve all the credit in the world.
Fandom has even managed several times to have movies made for cancelled television shows. Now, the quality of these movies is up for debate. (Personally, I loved the cinematography in Serenity and the way it opened the universe a bit more, a lot of the story was simply meh and would have played out better over a long television show.) Fandom interest has gotten producers interested in continuing that franchise even when the studios have decided not to do more with it.
Now, fandom definitely has it's dark and ugly sides. However, I'm still going to lean that there are more positive sides to having fan art and fan fic and parody and meta in free publicity than downsides. We, as creators, can always hope to have a fandom no matter how big or how small.
Viva La Fandom! Squeee!
