Hourglass
oh yeah. it's time
rough estimate of materials here. this is a VERY BIG project and I ran out of some supplies (like string, so I changed the amount from 100yds to 300 just to be safe)
i highly suggest setting a timer for two hours so you can remember to eat and such, especially if you're prone to hyper-focus like i am.
also, if you want more pictures of this, i have a bunch of them on my ko-fi. they're absolutely free to view. if you're stuck, DM me or send me an ask, or check there!
you know this video??
i saw it and went 'oh my god i need to have it'
and now it looks a bit like this
im making another one for my boyfriend for christmas. better to go big than go home, right? so, while i was doing that, i decided to do a write-up on it. but first..
design creds go to ghostinthecrowd on tiktok. their linktree is right here, so you can buy them a coffee or check out their instagram. they also have a BLM carrd linked. i 100% suggest their page if you're looking for any big projects.
now... this hourglass took me about a month of on/off work. this is a hefty project. it sizes about forearm length, and its probably 5ish inches wide. this would make a great centerpiece for decoration, or an amazing trade! anyone who receives this is sure to be over the moon about it!
pre-emptive warning: this post isn't going to contain many pictures. im writing this assuming that you have basic kandi knowledge (ufo cuffs, carousel cuffs, x bases). if you don't, or this is your first project, i admire your determination! ill link various tutorials for things next to what i'm doing so you can follow along too! my first project was an x-base, and i'm not going to tell people to do something easy if they're that determined. i think you've got this.
in addition, i made this a bit out-of-order. if my pictures look like i jumped ahead, or didn't finish a part, don't stress out about it.
without further ado...
hourglass!! time!!!
hold ur horses. first. compare with these pictures as you go to see if ur doing it right. it should look roughly like these when ur done (i say roughly, because i assume youre using diferent colors). also, as you go, im gonna reference my hourglass pictures a LOT. reference those as you go
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i started by putting 33 beads on a string. whatever you go with, i'd suggest that it fits around the bottom of your forearm, near your elbow, if you want to wear it. if not, just go with 33 honestly. the amount you go with has to be a multiple of three. (33,36,39,42, etc). this color will be the top of your cuff, that's in a carousel cuff style, and we need two Xes. (x-base tutorials here, and here, and here). don't finish it off after you have two Xes, after that we're just changing colors. at the end, actually, we'll have 14 Xes (thats a LOT of Xes).
change colors to the first main color of your hourglass. mine was green. now it's red. make 4 Xes from that.
change colors to the sparkly bead you'll use in the future. mine was a sparkly green. make one X from that.
change colors to the second sparkly bead you'll use, this one was pink. make one X from that.
change colors to the second color of your hourglass, mine was just a light pink. make 4 Xes from that
change colors back to the color of the carousel cuff, or the color that you first used. in the pictures, it's black. make 2 Xes. finish and tie off.
Carousel Time Pt. 1
carousel cuff tutorials here and here. if you don't know how to make them, watch that, then come back here. if you know how to make them, still read through this. it's a carousel, yes, but it's a bit different.
we're doing this with two columns! that's right baby, this is multi-layered. for reference, here's pictures of it when done.
Tumblr media
you know when you make ufo cuffs, and you start by making those Xes? like you have spikes, then you bring them down a bit to make, like, 3d Xes? we're starting by doing that. ufo tutorials here and here.
Tumblr media
3d x example
through connector beads (the middle of the xes on the x base), string 5 beads, and go through the connector to the side of it. do this all the way around and you'll get nice spikes. go through the middle bead on those spikes, string 2 beads, and go through the connector below. i do not know any better way to describe this, honest to god.
go through that first black connector bead, right below the yellow. make more yellow spikes. bring it up by going through the same connectors as before. beading needles help a lot here. actually, i'd call them necessary. don't have one? a bent paperclip works perfectly. just straighten it out and make a loop at a end so it works as one. pliers are good for that.
Tumblr media
those r some sick xes. lets make them sharper. stick ur string through one of the points sticking up in the middle of a 3d x, string 7 beads on, and go to the next middle. do this all the way around on the top and bottom. it might look kind of wonky, just keep rolling with it. when ur done, your spikes should look like those red ones on the bottom
columns! the ones described in carousel cuff videos. this is what makes a carousel cuff a carousel cuff. on the point that's sticking out (or the fourth bead) put a string through it. put both of the ends together, put on three beads, put both ends through the bead on the opposite spike, left string through left side, right to right. do two square knots, and do this all the way around.
also, a tip. make sure your strings dont cross when putting on beads. they have to stay parallel otherwise itll be jankey.
do this same thing to the bottom of your cuff. itll look something like this when done
Tumblr media
there's more, though! through that fourth bead, string through, add 9 beads, and string through the next spike. do this to the top and bottom, all the way around. make more columns of three on the 5th bead. it'll look like this when done (ignore the black, thicker portion. we'll get to that later)
Tumblr media
do this to the bottom, too. connect the points with 8 beads on the top and bottom of both carousels. for the 8 beads, dont pull the string that tightly. it keeps it from being stiff, it looks better if you just pull it together.
Tumblr media
i do not know why the image is pasting sideways. just turn your phone or find the correct version on my ko-fi.
the middle. this is the main bulk of the cuff. start by making spikes of 5 beads that go through the first connector bead near the top. make Xes there.
Tumblr media
make another row of Xes through the bottom connector bead, going upward.
Tumblr media
and in the place where you made the spikes for the bottom-- string through there and make more spikes that'll go up into the bottom of the top Xes. spikes picture below...
Tumblr media
it's a tight fit-- that's ok. that's part of what makes this project look really bulky. it might look kinda scuffed but keep going, that's normal.
Tumblr media
do that all the way around, making three Xes
Tumblr media
i do not know when i will hit the image limit; however, i am horrified to find out so i refuse to count my images
at this point, it's really connecting everything. that was the hardest part (to understand at least). put your string through the center of an X on the top, string 5 beads, and make a spike going to the next X center. do this all the way around...
Tumblr media
and bring it down like this
Tumblr media
make spikes on the bottom and bring them up, and then we're done with this section!
Tumblr media
cool. do this again on the lower half
string through the last red connector bead, closest to the yellow part. add 5, go to the next one. do this all the way around, and bring it up to make a 3D X to the connectors vertical and right above it.
Tumblr media
make another row right below it, stringing through the connectors you used to bring down the top spikes. bring it down to the connector vertically below the one you just strung through
Tumblr media
once again, no fucking idea why it's sideways ._.
go through the bead you were using to bring it down-- it's the same connectors you were just using. pick one, go through it, do more spikes of 5. bring that last one down to the connector vertically below the one you were using to make spikes.
also, dont worry about it looking weird. itll be buried later anyway, it doesnt have to look great.
Tumblr media
make spikes of 5, bring them down. make spikes of 5 on the bottom, bring them up.
Tumblr media
ok. we're 3/4 of the way there. this is the final stretch!
go through the center of one of the upper layers of Xes. it doesn't matter if you do the top or the bottom. put one bead on, and string around and through that same center bead from before. string 5 to the next point. string one, go around. repeat all the way around on the top and bottom. pull this part REALLY tight. tie off at the end, snip. do the other side.
Tumblr media
this is where i say good luck if you chose to use thick string.
go through the connector where the first spikes, closest to the yellow, started. it's on the base on the cuff, right about here
Tumblr media
as you can see, add 5 beads and go through the next connector. do this all the way around. go to the other side and go through the last solid connectors and do the same thing: 5 all the way around.
on the top, string three through a spike, go to the bead sticking out below it, string 3 more, go to the next top spike. here's an illustration demonstrating this.
Tumblr media
the purple line is the bead to go through. that one is the one that was put on top of a solid red spike. the blue lines are the three strung beads. thee green are the spikes you're moving through on the top, and the yellow-green is the rest of the top spike. do this all around the top.
Tumblr media
do this on the bottom too, except stringing through the third bead in the straight string of 5. 3, string, 3, spike.
Tumblr media
make these columns of two using the same method to make the carousel cuff columns. make one, skip two, make another. do this all the way around.
this might sound complicated so bear with me: thread through the same beads you were using for the top of the shiny red spikes, and make more spikes of 5.
Tumblr media
if this doesn't make sense, PM me or send me an ask.
do that all the way around.
UPDATE: ok i ran outta supplies. and i kinda can't buy more at the moment, money's tight. so we're pictureless now! i'll try my best to be clear and consise.
After making those five, connect them down to the next section by stringing through that solid black bead on the base, stringing 2, going through the center of the 5 from before, and stringing 2 again. Do this all the way around.
This is essentially doing the same thing that we did on the top. From the black connectors on the base near the very top, string 5 all around. From there, string 7 around. Start stringing those parts together and making bars. Here's pictures of what it should roughly look like
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the side parts where they connect the top carousel to the bottom, pick a bead on the lower side of the carousel, connecting to a bar, and bead it going all the way down. original video used wire for this, but it was too hard for me to work with and i used non-stretchy cord instead. It should connect down at another bead connecting to a bar on the other side.
The rest from here is flare. I liked stringing through some beads toward the top of the clear, sparkly overlay and just stringing down. That's the clear sparkles/rainbow sparkles you see in the photo. After, I decided to make a single that I just threw on there (The pearl rainbow in the middle in the photo).
Get creative! Maybe add something that's really 'you'. Special charms or small perlers come to mind.
...
Hoo. Okay. That's it. I originally wanted to make this for my boyfriend for Christmas, and this post is going out mid-March. I seriously hope this isn't gibberish. Depending on how I feel down the line (likely years from now) I might make this tutorial into a video.
DM me or send me asks for questions. I'll try my best to get to your question ASAP. and as always, pictures of your kandi are always welcome in my inbox, i'll be sure to post them :)
best of luck, you got this.

im gonna start working on my game for real very soon (just need to finish playing some video games cause i cant focus on more than one thing at a time) and i would rather post about it here than the bird site. i want to post about it because im pretty much starting from scratch here and if anyone has any advice i would like it. and also it just seems fun to me to post about when i have cool ideas or make dumb mistakes. i dont always know how to be properly interactively social but i want to just do things? and if you want to stop and watch and ask me questions, i will be pleased as punch
i dont know if ill ever finish this project and i especially dont know if ill ever publish anything or try to make money from it. i loved writing fic and i loved getting to share it and there was no money involved there. i want to keep that vibe going. soooo unfollow me now if you dont want to basically read the development diary of someone who doesnt know how to be a developer
as far as where i am now with it, ive been ~thinking~ about it a lot and if i know anything from writing fic its that thinking about your project constantly but not doing anything about it definitely counts as working on it. i did take a hefty chunk of time to learn C# and how to use unity but i havent touched either in a while so we'll see how much like riding a bike those are.
anyway. i have no idea how to design a game from scratch by myself, but i do know how to project manage because thats basically my day job. if i break it down into its parts, i can work backward from the end goal and figure out what i need to do to get there. sometimes those steps mean making stuff and sometimes theyll just mean learning how to do shit. this is going to take a long fucking time and learning how to do shit is never a waste of time imo
when i break it all down, the very first thing i think i need to do is get a decent outline of the story and its main branches. the visuals, audio, and gameplay will all stem from the narrative. the good thing is developing the story is the part of this im most confident about. i think im going to play around with using yarn spinner to build the story because branching narratives/player choice is going to be critical and i dont think my usual tools for writing a linear narrative are going to work.
hopefully i have something to share again soon

(COURTNEY EATON, CISFEMALE) - Have you seen MARLENA AUCOIN? LENA is in HER JUNIOR year. The ART HISTORY MAJOR is 21 years old & is a CAPRICORN People say SHE is DISCIPLINED, INTUITIVE, UNFORGIVING and SELF-RIGHTEOUS. Rumors say they’re a member of HASTINGS. I heard from the gossip blog that SHE WAS PART OF A HAZING INCIDENT GONE WRONG THAT RESULTED IN A DEATH.  (Olive. ur dictator.)
pinterest here
Tumblr media
SUICIDE, DEATH TW
Marlena Aucoin! But she goes by Lena
She’s a new muse so bear with me. Inspired by Dear Zachary and My Year of Rest and Relaxation just a bit
Character inspirations: Peyton Sawyer, Carmen Rosón Caleruega, Theo Crain, Shiv Roy.
Her parents were never married. Her father was the wealthy heir to a Kennedy-like political fortune. She never actually met Jonathan Alcoin but he has been described to her as a cold, snake-like man. The kind who would steal his own father’s coat to keep himself warm
The Alcoins are widely known across the US for their fortune, as well as for having a powerful hand in politics. But an interesting thing about them is that they’re also known for their untimely deaths. Plane crashes, car accidents, heart attacks have taken out Alcoions in nearly every branch of the family tree
Um the Alcoin’s haven’t worked in years. Jonathan, and Lena, like those before them, don’t have to :make a living”. Their financial planners do that for them.
Her mother was Jonathan’s latest fling, another pretty thing for Jonathan to keep on his arm for event that he never actually cared about. Until she revealed that Jonathan had gotten her pregnant.
Lena’s mother, Theresa, had assumed the pregnancy would mean a wedding. She could see dollar signs in her eyes the second that little stick came up with two lines. However, Jonathan and his family had other plans for the girl and the pregnancy
Given Jonathan’s young age and his status, they had planned to lie and say that Lane was actually her grandparent’s child. They paid Theresa a hefty sum to keep quiet about the pregnancy as they cheerfully announced to the press that the Aucoins were expecting a miracle child at their later stage in life
But when lane was ripped out of Theresa’s arms seconds after her birth, the young girl began stewing. Being treated like a shameful secret left her ravenous and.... feral sfgfdfg
SUICIDE, DEATH TW: On Lena’s one month birthday she headed over to the Aucoin mansion and shot Jonathan three times, then herself. They both bled out quickly as Lena’s grandparents could do nothing but scream in horror
The whole true story of Lena’s origins came out quickly in the press after that. It was a media sensation, the wealthy family ripped apart by yet another tragedy
Okay so she was raised mainly by her grandparents and was hounded by the media all through her childhood bc of how her parents died
Her grandparents.... both died within a year of each other last year. So now she’s truly alone in the world. Except for a half-sister she’s never met.
PERSONALITY: UHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhh she doesn’t really have one besides sarcasm. she’s very closed off for obvious reasons. she thinks every person that talks to her is just angling for info about her and her family
She really does feel a lot... I swear.... but she’s like the Ice Queen. It’s all clamped down inside. Occasionally she explodes like a pot boiling over.
uhhhh very self-obsessed. thinks she’s the most beautiful woman to ever walk planet earth
Is constantly on drugs. Pops two Ambien at night to fall asleep and then Adderall in the morning to keep herself awake. Washes down Ritalin with red wine. Leaves class frequently to snort a line of coke
Yeah it’s how she keeps herself from feeling too much <3
Okay but she’s actually very generous? Her money feels almost dirty to her. Being an orphan, she inherited the entirety of the Aucoin wealth. she picks up the tab, always, at restaurants and if you’re friends with her she’ll often leave the designer clothes she just purchased on your doorstep with a note that say “getting rid of old stuff! enjoy!” bc the guilt is too much for her to keep them.
Self righteous for a girl who’s constantly high
The only thing that makes her laugh is videos of men falling down im not kidding
She has a smoker’s voice, raspy and low. talks in monotone.
Um she keeps an old VHS player in her dorm room and when she’s feeling low will watch Sister Act starring Whoopi Goldberg over and over again. It’s a weird habit but she watched it with her grandpa while he was dying
She actually stress bakes as a hobby but then. She feels her grandmother’s voice chiding in her ear and doesn’t eat any of it
Her favorite music? Classical. Lost her virginity in a hotel room to Franz Lizst. But her second favorite music? ABBA. No it doesn’t make sense
Wears lots of ribbons in her hair and will wake up with them tangled into it
She’s mayhaps. Just a wee bit traumatized. From her parents. and being raised by her grandparents. They were awful. Cold and mean. Her grandfather was the only bright spot in her life and he was a odd little man who tutted about reading World War II novels and firing nannies left and right sdfgfddg
Uhhh she’s cheated on every significant other she’s ever had. Sex for her is like scratching at a bug bite, once you start you can’t stop. Thinks about sex constantly. Can’t actually stop thinking about it
Wears gloves a lot like Theo Crain but for the Aesthetic
Is she a victorian ghost? idk
She’s an art history major. Bc what else does a rich girl with no ambition study <3
Wears mostly black and prefers monochrome. Her aesthetic is sexy funeral director
She has an older, on again off again boyfriend named Trevor who’s actually like. A loser. He lives in Connecticut and is the manager at a bank. But he was her first time when she was eighteen and she can’t accept that he’s a loser sdfgfdsdfgfdfg. He treats her really horribly and cheats on all his girlfriend’s with Lena
WANTED CONNECTIONS!!
the investigator: someone who see lena as like. a project. they wanna know everything about her. get past her walls. and she’s like. no thanks <3
ummmmm someone to eat all the baked goods she makes and then throws out
twin flames!!! enough said
enemies.
um the person she lost her virginity to in new york in that hotel room <3
friends!!! someone to shower her guilt generosity on. she’s disgusted by her own wealth. also like. fellow rich kids who grew up together?
give me a friendship that’s like. “our families made us hang out in hs but you’re actually kinda cool?”
EXES!!! give me someone she cheated on. or. someone who broke her heart. ok goodbye
Ummmm someone she knows she shouldn’t hook up with and... does it anyways.
hookups!!!!
bad tinder date!!!
Someone she’s told about Trevor and is like girl wyd he’s the worst and Ugly

Film that will leave you speachless
The hottest film via Christopher Nolan (The Batman Trilogy, Inception) is certain to be, for many, the most anticipated video from the year. This is especially considering the affiliate marketing tease of epic intergalactic exploration, the simple fact that it can be shot in a combination of anamorphic 35mm together with IMAX 70mm (and will certainly be projected both in formats), and brings in you behind the McConaissance. This might be Nolan’s most ambitious movie but, as he endeavors to help balance an close existential history about the particular power of love together with their ability to combine individuals and families together with each other across time and room, with credulous scientific hypothesizing about cosmic physics together with a new demanding mission to help save the world. At the same time it is his most intellectually wobbly, narratively goofy in addition to remarkably forgettable. Since interesting as Christopher and even Jonathan Nolan’s ideas can be, and as outstanding while the former’s vision like a overseer is, this will not hold up to also moderate analysis. Failing for you to grasp how the startling final act revelations work is not a deal-breaker for me personally, but I can not reduce the mediocre writing that plagues this film, in spite of the substantial visible beauty and the spectacular depiction of unexplored locations of deep area. Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), a good widowed engineer turned character, is living on an Soil that is slowly becoming increasingly eco-friendly devastated together with uninhabitable. He is dwelling on his plantation along with his late wife’s papa (John Lithgow) and his or her a couple of children Murphy (Mackenzie Foy) and Tom (Timothée Chalamet). This individual is stop your puppy biting Tom to follow inside his footsteps, even though the curious Murphy shares their fancy for engineering. Following a really serious dust storm, which will recurrent the area and are worsening, Cooper and Murphy happen to be led to mysterious coordinates by the strange (but easily accepted) gravitational abnormality in Murphy’s bed room. Your woman believes she has a cat, but a thing has surely been playing about together with her books. These people discover themselves in a top-secret NASA base run by simply Professor Brand (Michael Caine) and his daughter Amelia (Anne Hathaway). As the idea happens, some sort of wormhole offers been discovered in close proximity to Saturn that can connect extensively separated areas of space-time and act as the web site into another galaxy. Manufacturer cible that Cooper sign up for his team regarding scientists on a journey to find a humanly habitable world in a good similar universe. Cooper struggling while using decision to abandon his two children – Murphy is specially unforgiving, offered the fact that he / she cannot promise a return – but he sooner or later makes the decision to join Amelia, Doyle (an impressively bewhiskered Wes Bentley), Romilly (David Gyasi) as well as a robotic identified as TARS (voiced by Monthly bill Irwin) for the mission. Precisely what has grow to be clearer in reflection is merely how poorly spaced Interstellar is. All of us rocket throughout the first action, with almost everything thinly created and the storytelling goals very skewed. By the time Cooper launches off, concerning forty minutes in, what on earth is actually happening to the Planet they is leaving right behind plus the specifics of this mission are usually cloudy. This is all passed in by a Caine monologue. The ghostly anomaly in Murphy’s room also lacks the convincing context to support it. But once the vision starts the film decreases significantly, only to awkwardly get the pace in the ultimate act while the dual narratives (space and earth) begin to link. Similarly with the accessibility into space there will be a extraordinary increase throughout spectacle – their very own entry into the wormhole is just one of some of the virtually all formidable aesthetic examples connected with space to be ever put on film – and this is what viewers will assume. Some connected with this does rival masterpieces like 2001: A Space Journey, Sunshine and Gravity, although this craved vision is usually disappointingly intermittent. Thinking of the film’s gargantuan range, and the pins the fact that go with their selection to be able to examine each entire world – a short span associated with time one, equates to decades on earth for example – it is basically rarely stressed. Nevertheless any time the visual splendour, mental stakes and Hans Zimmer’s substantial organ-heavy report will be all in synchronize it is quite exciting. This mostly comes about pretty late in the troublesome run time. All these incredible moments are segregated by way of clunky science jargon-heavy exposition blocks that have the characters in his or her craft debating the following course of action, organizing all around speculation and producing crude drawings and images to clarify just what will be going on. Since the particular vision is so in short , sketched outside initially, this course of action requires such consideration. The planets they land on will be attractively represented, wonderfully realized industrys. But, what comes about even though they’re there is usually much less given the assurance. This particular is a double-hander in order to confuse matters. Jessica Chastain since the elder Murphy gets to be a central character inside the second 50 percent, reaching out to a good aging Health practitioner Brand and attempting to finish his life’s work while by no means offering up on her father’s go back. The cast is fine, with none of them in close proximity to their best. McConaughey’s persona is the heart and even heart of the film, as well as the most moving occasions can be because of the dog. He delivers his bronzed, weathered appearance and is about as good an everyman rocket scientist when you could expect. Hathaway’s personality is initially really uninteresting but becomes progressively more intriguing, She is a new scientist because we take the woman father’s term for it, and her fancy with regard to one of the previous looking astronauts (and the desire of seeing him again) is the trigger for some turmoil among the crew, and describes one of many key themes associated with the film. I can not recall Eileen Caine getting the brand of normal dialogue. He is either detailing elements of the story, or quoting a graceful passage of wisdom or something or other. Chastain doesn’t really have some sort of good deal to do, sadly. In my experience along with Christopher Nolan films – aside from Inception, Memento in addition to Insomnia, which I actually think are great : they are exciting cinematic experiences that que incluye us into thinking I have noticed something remarkable. But, view them again on home and the thin characters, broadly sketched and heavy-handed themes or templates and often-ludicrous conversation hinder one’s understanding. Nolan has proven to be a far better overseer than screenwriter, and My partner and i would not think it features been whole lot more apparent compared to in Interstellar. Having observed this in IMAX, it has turned out to be able to be one of often the more frustrating experiences My partner and i have had because atmosphere. Even on the planets biggest screen I was not involved in this. My spouse and i was absorbed in display screen, sure, but not in all in the tale. Much of the film looks great. Accomplished DP Hoyte Suv Hoytema (Tinker Tailor Enthusiast Traveler, Her) ensures of which it does not necessarily look like Nolan’s last few movies. Mulan torrent They don’t look terrible – quite the counter – but similar. With that said, the first act (pre-space) seems to be distractingly poor. Im not necessarily really sure exactly why. The was very dim, oranges and browns were over-accentuated and the close-up hefty compositions ended up not necessarily provided well because of the enormity involving the screen.
Tumblr media
Over a closing note, this is the more film. The prospect of humanity is in the hands and fingers of these astronauts, nonetheless there is not the shred connected with awareness regarding the silliness from the plan. Even the attempts with jokes mostly fall flat. This is a video that is seeking very hard to be consumed critically together with provoke a market to contemplate big ideas, but simply by pushing it has the audience to consentrate it reveals its superb camouflaged narrative issues.

Book Ghost Writing As a Process
Tumblr media
It's an intriguing connection between a book professional writer and her customer, the book writer. The customer has the first thoughts for the work, and the professional writer is there to carry them to full fulfillment. As such, they work on the book together, with the book professional writer being an expert who does the greater part of the real composition of the book, while the customer just helps with the thoughts.
Indeed, not actually. There's something else entirely to it than that. Indeed, the customer or unique book writer is an indispensable piece of the cycle, and truth be told is composing his own book through the book professional writer. Book secretly composing is a cycle, which I will attempt to separate for you my way, adjust experienced after longer than a time of book secretly composing. It starts with the customer, and is done through crafted by the professional writer.
The customer begins the cycle, in the wake of reaching and employing the professional writer, by marking a book secretly composing contract with the author sketching out everything significant, for example, the legitimate privileges of the two players, who precisely keeps the copyrights, who gets the acknowledgment for the book or offers it, and so on At that point the customer sets aside a little installment, for example, $5,000 to begin, for keeping the expert author's time open to chip away at the book. This can be a totally non-refundable store, or half of it tends to be refundable in specific situations, for example, the customer dropping the task or the book professional writer being not able to start work on it.
When the venture starts, an incredible initial step is for the customer to make a book layout and a timetable spreading out the book's substance in sequential request. These reports can be scrappy from the outset, chipped away at more and rounded out later, in any event, being ventured into a chapter by chapter list as a further guide for dealing with the composition. Each archive just should be around one page long. They don't imprint anything in cement, and each can be changed to suit the necessities of the general task.
Next, messages containing connections in Word or Word Perfect archives, and for my situation I like to work in Word, are traded between the customer and the essayist. The customer begins this by composing from the earliest starting point of the book until the end, in steady stages varying, the book's substance as imagined. This can be added to later, and completely altered and revamped by the professional writer. Fundamentally, the customer in any event needs to spread out the thoughts of the book as communicated by him, and afterward substance them out fairly for the essayist to have material from which to work.
The book professional writer can do light to hefty exploration and add related new material by utilizing the assets of the Internet and the nearby library framework. The messages and calls between the two players help the expert author in molding, making, altering, revamping, editing and completely finishing the book original copy. En route, the customer or book writer shares thoughts, tells the book professional writer how he needs his composition spread out and composed, gives the essayist subtleties of the book, and supplies more broad thoughts and rules about the book's materials.
It is ideal if the customer sends the entirety of the genuine data to be chipped away at with his professional writer in a few email connections, instead of sending them via telephone or in the assemblages of messages as composed duplicate. Some foundation materials can be on genuine paper, however by and large professional writers can't work from transcribed notes, and keeping in mind that some professional writers use scanners and can filter in composed reports, it's simpler to as of now have the archives in electronic configuration. MS Word is the most well-known programming.
Calls can be made consistently; you can likewise mastermind Skype gatherings and IM or text gatherings. The book professional writer may just secretly compose the work in advancement, and a different duplicate editorial manager and even a different editor might be recruited to go over the completed original copy; or the professional writer may offer included altering and editing administrations. I do this without anyone's help when I secretly compose, including the cost of altering and sealing the original copy inside the general book secretly composing cost. Airbnb Inc.’s ABNB 112.81% shares more than doubled in their trading debut on Thursday, reflecting a soaring market for new stock listings and the home-sharing company’s ability to navigate the coronavirus-induced downturn in travel this year.
The stock began trading at $146 on the Nasdaq Stock Market, higher than its initial-public-offering price of $68 a share. It closed slightly lower than its opening price at $144.71.
Airbnb, co-founded in 2008 by now-Chief Executive Brian Chesky, changed the hospitality industry by demonstrating that millions of people were willing to skip hotel stays and book spaces offered by hosts on its platform. The company says it has built a powerful brand, with the majority of guests this year going directly to Airbnb when booking short-term rentals.
The company ended the day worth $100.7 billion, based on a fully diluted share count, greater than the combined market value of Marriott International Inc., Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. and Hyatt Hotels Corp.
Airbnb’s first-day performance is likely to continue to fuel excitement over the IPO market, where investors have been clamoring for shares of hot newly public companies.
In addition to Airbnb, shares of DoorDash Inc. and C3.ai Inc. also surged on their first day of trading, jumping 86% and 120% respectively on Wednesday. DoorDash’s stock slipped 1.9% Thursday, while C3.ai continued to rise, gaining 40.6%.
By both volume and stock price performance, these companies are trading into one of the hottest IPO markets in history. So far in 2020, more than $155 billion has been raised on U.S. exchanges, far exceeding the previous full-year record set at the height of the dot-com boom in 1999, according to Dealogic data that date to 1995.
Airbnb’s listing caps a difficult year in which the company was whipsawed by a sharp decline in travel caused by the spread of Covid-19. The pandemic upended vacations and work-related trips, forcing Airbnb and other companies—including airlines, hotel chains and cruise operators—to retrench.
“If you can survive a global pandemic that shuts down global travel, you can survive anything,” said Alfred Lin, partner at Sequoia Capital and an Airbnb board member and early investor.
This spring, as consumers sheltered in place, Airbnb borrowed $2 billion to shore up its cash reserves. In May, the company said it would cut 1,900 jobs, or one-quarter of its staff, and pause investments in noncore operations. Airbnb slashed other big expenses, including for marketing.
“I assumed that this crisis was a storm that could be unrelenting for years,” Mr. Chesky said in an interview.

But the company was able to latch on to demand from people looking for trips closer to home during the pandemic, fueled by consumers wanting a change of location. In August, for example, more than half of bookings made through Airbnb were for stays within 300 miles of the guest’s location. Revenue is nowhere close to pre-pandemic levels—down 32% year over year in the first nine months of the year—but has still recovered from lows in the spring.
“One of the benefits of the crisis is that it did require us to get really focused.…That enabled us to tell a story about who we are and what we’ll be,” Mr. Chesky said. In the weeks leading up to the debut, Mr. Chesky spoke to prospective investors on video wearing sweatpants.
As of the end of September, the company had more than 4 million hosts and 7 million listings of home rentals and experiences, such as guided activities, in more than 220 places globally, according to a prospectus about the IPO.
The company’s costs jumped fivefold between 2015 and 2019 as it expanded into new areas such as media and transportation, built a new headquarters and aggressively invested in sales and marketing. Mr. Chesky said he ran through hundreds of expense items during the pandemic. Total costs dropped 22% in the first nine months of this year compared with the year-earlier period. The company’s hefty sales and marketing budget was cut by more than half.
The cost cuts, along with the unforeseen pickup in local stays, led the company to post a profit in the third quarter of this year. The June-September quarter is typically strong for the platform because of seasonal factors including summer vacations, and Airbnb has turned a profit in that period since 2018.
But like many Silicon Valley startups that are bleeding red ink when they go public, Airbnb has never posted a full-year profit. Its loss last year was greater than its losses in the previous four years combined. And it lost more than twice as much through the first nine months of this year than it did in the year-earlier period, largely because of shrinking revenue earlier in the health crisis.
“I don’t know what the future brings but that we can adapt to it,” Mr. Chesky said. He pointed to Airbnb redesigning its app and website to focus on local stays during the pandemic.
Some investors said the run-up in prices for Airbnb’s shares made them too expensive and avoided buying the stock during Thursday’s debut.
“I’m a big fan of Airbnb, and I really wanted to buy some today myself. But I wasn’t able to do it because I just don’t feel that the math is reasonable, and the stock should come down in my view,” said Tony Roth, chief investment officer for Wilmington Trust, which manages $124 billion in assets.
The company’s growth in recent years has drawn sharp opposition from many corners. Many homeowners have been pushing to combat Airbnb, raising objections to living near short-term rentals because of noise, parties and worries about property values. In its stock-offering prospectus, the San Francisco company notes that landlords, neighborhood groups and condominium associations have moved to prohibit or restrict home sharing.
Denver, Boston and other cities have tightened rules covering short-term rental operations, as have cities that before the pandemic were major tourist destinations, including Rome and Barcelona. Meanwhile, some mayors have said that investors have purchased homes to rent out through Airbnb, exacerbating housing shortages and affordability. Airbnb said in its prospectus that it will continue “to collaborate with policymakers to implement sensible legislation in cities around the world.”
Organized-labor groups tied to hotels have also fought the company. In New York, for example, a major hotel-employee union had put together a lobbying effort to try to curtail it. Airbnb earlier this year said it would hire union construction workers for new-real estate projects where it is involved.
