i’ve already asked ur if this is ok, and this is where my power comes from. shadowfall apocalypse au with the ship of my choice, secret relationship miroctane baby. ooga chaka.
from this list // miroctane & 12 (candles)
Being trapped in a place that haunts your recurring nightmares was something that none of them were expecting. After months of months of living and killing and dying in the realm of King’s Canyon, here the 11 of them were - stranded, on the edge of a forever death, surrounded by the shadows of themselves and those they love, being tormented by a… creepy thing overlooking them from the top of the canyon. The legends had taken home in The Pit, gas traps and fences keeping them safe, a constant surveillance from the new guy’s drone and Bloodhound’s periodic scanning allowing them to keep the shadows at bay. The eternal night kept them caked in darkness, only able to see each other in the candlelight.
A few of them had gone out to investigate, hoping to find some way to get them all out of here, leaving only a few of them to secure home base. While Gibraltar and Crypto kept an eye on the fences, Mirage sat over by the boxes, knees curled up to his chest, a Triple Take laying down at his side, on the floor. Eyes glazed over in thought, he wasn’t paying much attention to the world around him, fiddling with the set of dog tags hidden under his shirt, pulling on the chain and listening to the tags roll up and down it with gravity. They were his brothers - well, not theirs exactly, just replicas. They never found their real ones. Because they were still around, probably. Maybe. He wondered what they were doing now - thoughts trailed on to his mom, at home, alone. Tangling the chain of his tags between his fingers, he tugged on it gently as he thought about her, almost cringing as the worst-case scenarios got worse and worse-
“I’m guessing this seat isn’t taken, eh?”
“Ah-” Surprised at the sudden noise, he looked up, able to make out the man’s face in the glow of the candlelight. “Jesus fuckin’ Christ, Tav, don’t… sneak up on me like that.”
Octane chuckled, sitting down next to the trickster and crossing his legs. “Kinda hard not to when you’re so… caught up in whatever. I could have kicked you.”
“...You could have done that, yeah.”
He laughed again, tapping a foot against the floor. “‘Nita’s gonna be comin’ back soon, so wipe that look off your face, or she’ll give you an hour-long pep talk again.”
“God forbid.”
“Uh-huh.” The speedster looked down, fiddling with the goggles hanging from his neck, he moved his hands to tap on his thighs for a few moments, before looking up again. “...Seriously, though, compadre, you doin’ OK?”
Mirage watched him for a moment, sighing as he leaned back further against the box, resting his hands on the floor. “I- yeah, I just… people are waiting, right? So we gotta get outta here somehow, so I… yeah. Just… thinkin’ about that.”
“Your mom, right?”
“Ah- uh- …yeah. She’s going through… stuff, sent me off despite that, and I…” He trailed off, seeming to go back to his train of thought, swallowing hard.
Though he knew little bits about his mother, for once, Octane knew when not to push someone’s buttons, especially someone he had a certain… history with like Mirage.
A few months before being trapped in Kings Canyon, the two hooked up on and off, just because they could. A month before being trapped in Kings Canyon, they made their relationship official. Weeks before being trapped in Kings Canyon, they had their first date - a night alone in Elliott’s bar, sharing a drink and a laugh and a tender kiss. A week before being trapped in Kings Canyon, they’d been dancing together in Octavio’s apartment, laughing and singing terribly off-key. Day before being trapped in Kings Canyon, they’d made dinner together, and slept next to each other, tangled in each other’s embrace-
Looking down, he moved a hand off of his lap and on top of Mirage’s, curling his fingers around it as he turned to look at him again.
“Wait- Tav, we can’t.”
“One time, Elliott. No one’s watching, and I think… you need this.”
The trickster seemed to hold his breath, before letting out a shaky sigh, leaning forward to press their foreheads together, turning his held hand over and letting their fingers intertwine. “I… yeah. Yeah.”
Elliott closed his eyes, feeling his curls being moved out of the way with a gentle hand as Octavio pressed an uncharacteristically soft kiss on his forehead.
“We have to get out of here. How else am I gonna tell everyone my boyfriend is the best in the Outlands, huh?”
He gave a quiet chuckle. “Not if I tell everyone first.”

ticket to ride ; paul x reader
Tumblr media
request: may I make a request with Paul, the reader is German and misses paul but they make it work. you see, my girlfriend lives in Germany and I live in the states as I’ve met her through pen paling.Hm, im kinda thinking of “just give me a reason” by Pink kinda fits in,reader doubts the relationship/assumes bad things but Paul comforts her.Oh also colors by Halsey, the effect of being away from each other on him and maybe it gets so bad that they breakup and Paul isn’t the same. 💓ILU and ur writing UwU a/n: bro- sad Paul makes me sad pairing: paul x german!reader summary: paul, your boyfriend, left the country and you missed him oh so much but being away from each other hurts too much. warnings: angst? mentinos of sex (nothing graphic at all) year: 1961-62 word count: 1954
You knew from the moment Paul said he was leaving that things weren’t going to be the same. You had gone with him to the airport to see him off. To be honest, you wished you hadn’t. All you did was cry and cry as he held you close to him.
“I’ll promise I’ll visit, I’ll write to you and I’ll phone you,” Paul said as he squeezed his arms around you. “I promise schatzi.” you looked up to him and smiled and the pet name, it always made you smile.
The day after he left things weren’t the same. He had been living with you for about a month before they were forced to leave and your bed seemed so empty that night so you cried yourself to sleep. As soon as the plane landed and Paul got home he called you.
“Hey there.” he quietly said into the phone.
“Hi.” you replied equally as quiet, you missed him so much and all you wanted to do was reach into the phone and hug him. You chatted for a while until he had to go.
It had been one month since he left and things had gotten better. You called each other a lot during the week and talked for hours without end. Apart from that you also wrote each other letter. Paul had started writing you sappy love songs and poems (in a jokingly manner) and even though you cringed at them you loved them.
Another you guys had started doing was send each other photographs. “So you don’t forget my face.” Paul had written in the first photograph-filled letter. You smiled down at his sloppy handwriting and smiled even wider at the pictures. Some of the photographs where of him performing, at home, with his hair up funny after a shower, taken by his friends, with his friends...
So the next day you did the same. After having all of them developed you packed them carefully in an envelope and sent them to him. He called you as soon as he got them and talked about them for hours.
Both of your friends knew things weren’t the same. The all saw how you were getting sadder as the days went by. Went the six months mark went by you didn’t even leave your flat. You kept yourself in your room, wrapped in one of his leather jackets he had sent you and looking through photographs of him and the two of you together.
Paul, on the other hand, got piss drunk also alone. John had found him when he got home, he was in the couch sobbing in the empty flat and John knew things weren’t going to get any better for the either of you. If it were up to him, or any of your friends, he would end the relationship. But you loved each other too much to do so.
“Hey,” you said weakly the day after, you didn’t want him to know you had been crying last night.
“Hi.” he groaned into the phone.
“Everything all right?” you asked at his tone.
“Yeah, just got drunk last night,” Paul said as he laughed and it left you shocked, had he been partying all night? Was he with other girls? You shook your head quickly, he wouldn’t do that and you had to trust him if things were going to work out. “Everything okay over there?” he asked when you didn’t say anything.
“Yeah, yeah.”
“Good.”
“Yeah.” you sighed and the conversation fell into silence.
“Listen yn,” he said. “I’m thinking about visiting, you don’t have any plans, do you?” your face lit up as soon as you heard the news and you couldn’t help but stand up straight and smile.
“No, no plans here. When are you coming?”
“In four days.” you threw your hand in the air, punching the emptiness. “Sorry for the short notice,” he added.
“No worries Paul.”
“See you then.”
“See you.”
You hanged up the phone and started to dance dramatically. You were jumping around and hitting the air. To set the mood you put on your favourite upbeat song on your record player. After your little dance party, you got yourself ready before heading down to the shops and buying things for when Paul came over.
In honour of him, you decided to cook his favourite deal. The couple of days you had before his visit were spent practising the dish. And if you said so yourself, you were pretty good at cooking it. All your friends noticed the change in you, you were much happier, back to your old self.
The day before his visit you could barely sleep. You tossed and turned in your bed and soon worry flushed over you. Why was he coming over? Was he going to break up with you? Was he seeing other girls? Now that you thought about it his visit seemed a bit strange. You pushed all the nasty thoughts to the back of your mind and dozed off to sleep.
Paul was coming at around 6:30 so you had a long time to get ready. You had cleaned the flat yesterday so that was one less thing to worry about. In the morning you washed your hair and shaved your legs so you felt as slick as a dolphin.
You put on Paul’s favourite dress and at around 6:00pm you began panicking. You sat down on the couch so Paul would see you as soon as the door opened (which was kind of dumb since you had to get to open the door). Was he going to like this? All the bad thoughts from last night came back to you and you felt like you were going to puke.
And then there was a knock. It was Paul knock, definitely. He always knocked with that same rhythm and your heart dropped. Very slowly you got up and walked over to the door. You took a deep breath in and out before opening the door.
There stood Paul, his hands were tucked into his jacket’s pockets, he was leaning against the door and his head was fixed on his shoes but it immediately flew up when the door opened. He broke into a smile and wrapped his arms around you.
You melted into the hug and smiled at the familiar sensation. Paul still smelled the same, like aftershave and cigarettes. His hands were tight around but not too tight that it hurt. He pulled away, looked into your eyes and smiled. Paul cupped your face and leaned down to kiss you.
“I missed you yn, so much,” Paul said after the kiss.
“Me too Paulie.” he smiled at the way you called him.
Once greetings were over, you helped him put his things in your room where he was going to be staying. After he got ready you led him into the dining room where your round table was set up romantically. It had a white cover over it and a candle lit in the middle.
“This is lovely.”
“Anything for you love.”
The two of you sit down and began eating and chatting. He caught you up with what was going in his life, how they had changed the drummer. The new one was named Ringo and they even had a manager called Brian Epstein. In turn, you caught him up with your life. Nothing much had happened compared to him but he listened as you told funny stories of things that had happened to you and your friends.
That night, after cleaning up together, the two of you cuddled so close as though either of you would disappear. His arm was wrapped around your waist pulling your back close against his chest. Paul had his face nuzzling against your exposed neck.
But nothing that’s good lasts forever, he was going to stay for a week and at first, it was amazing. You took him around the city and acted like tourists. It was fun and both of you messed around an awful lot at tours and museums. You also took him to see your friends and all of you had dinner together.
During the nights he would softly make love to you but as soon as that was over it only made you realise how much you loved him and missed him and you didn’t want this to end. You knew that if he left again, which he was going to, you would be broken. It sucked, you didn’t want this to happen to you because of some guy but that was just the thing, he wasn’t some guy.
He was Paul.
Paul McCartney.
The last day came around and you both silently packed his back, you could barely look over at his direction. You knew if you did you would break down in tears. Once the bags were packed you cuddled in the living room until it was time for him to leave.
“yn we should talk,” Paul said as he turned off the telly. You gulped and sat up to face him.
“Yeah?” you asked with your eyes fixed on his fingers as you played with them.
“Look at me love.” he wrapped two of his fingers around your chin and tilted your head up.
“Yeah?” you repeated.
“I love you, I hope you know that.” you nodded. “But, this hurts too much. For both of us...” you held back tears knowing what was happening.
“We should break up.” you finished as you broke down in teas. Paul wrapped his arms around you and pulled you close to him as he whispered sweet words into your ears and for a minute you thought everything would be alright.
“I love you too much to keep you to myself, you deserve to be happy.”
“We can be happy, together.” you insisted and you rubbed your eyes.
“Love, I want you to have someone that can be there for you always.”
“I can come to Liverpool.”
“We both know you can’t, if you could you would have done it much earlier. Your life is here, your career, your friends, your family.”
“I’m sorry.” you cried.
“Wh- Why are you sorry?”
“For not being able to go with you,” you admitted quietly making him laugh.
“Oh yn, it’s not your fault. Sorry that we got kicked out of Germany.” it was your turn to laugh. Well more like give out a choked-out version of a laugh. You had half an hour until he had to leave to go back to Liverpool and the two of you spent it in each other embrace.
You hugged him like it was the last time you would see him and it probably will be. He tried remembering you, your face, your body and so did you. You wanted to remember his scent, the way his hands felt around your body and the way his lips felt against yours.
You watched from your window as his taxi sped away, he waved until you could no longer see him and as soon as he was out of sight you climbed into your bed and cried softly. This time it was over, probably for the best since you both knew it would have hurt too much to continue like this.
Both of your friends noticed a change.
Your smile seemed a bit duller, you no longer believed in love. The way you talked about was the same way you would talk about a disease. Eventually, you did find love once more but it wasn’t like Paul. Your smile wasn’t as wide and the twinkle in your eyes wasn't there.
Paul wasn’t the same as well. His jokes were reduced after the breakup. John, Ringo and George would notice him staring off into space occasionally but things got better. His humour came back and so did his happiness. He did call you after a year and when he found out you were happy and thriving he got happier.
Things were going to get better.

NOTE: the saturday has come !!!! everyone seems 2 be having a good time but taeji and kyungsoo r not having any of ryu’s shit, he shall * pay. sorry for the late update tho, ive been busy with work! hope this short chapter makes up for it
She couldn’t tell if she loved or hated the situation she was in.
Areum was sandwiched between Taeji and Ryu, with Kyungsoo right across from her, Aemi and Min on either side of him.
It’s not that she didn’t want to be there, but she probably would have felt more comfortable had she been put at the corner with only Taeji and Kyungsoo given the opportunity to talk to her.
She frowns to herself as the thought crosses her mind and she snaps out of it. She’s here for a reason and she can’t let herself get in the way of truly becoming friends with the people she’s known for three years.
The fact that Ryu is trying to strike up a conversation with her causes the fog in her head to clear up, and she sits straight at the feeling his voice gives her.
It’s like being wrapped up in a fluffy blanket.
While she’s registering his question, Aemi and Min are gazing at her curiously, hoping in the back of their minds that they’d get something going with the girl. Someone’s metal chopsticks clatter against the table while the sound of sizzling meat mixes in with the restaurant music as she tries to come up with an answer. Taeji’s positively sweating with worry right now.
“I’m feeling lovely right now,” she mumbles, and the response makes everyone at the table exhale in relief.
Ryu’s eyes crinkle happily at the reply he receives and he leans back against his chair after putting the tongs down, his arm casually flopping over the back of Areum’s chair.
The other two boys raise their eyebrows at this action, but Aemi and Min roll their eyes in amusement, already used to Ryu’s flirtatious impulse.
“We’re glad to hear that,” he mumbles right back just to tease Areum, and it causes her to blush in embarrassment. Her voice cracks slightly when she tries to protest, her hand helplessly smacking the boy’s knee to suffice for her lack of a verbal response.
Taeji has a look of disgust on his face, but he hides it by shoving a piece of lettuce and beef into his mouth, Kyungsoo doing the same, but gulping down his whole cup of water afterwards, the similar actions of the two causing the girls to scoff in amusement, while Ryu has Areum distracted with his overwhelmingly strong presence.
It’s like Ryu has Areum in his hands and everyone is not impressed with how the boy manages to keep all of her attention on him. This was not Kyungsoo’s intention when he invited her and he’s slowly coming to the conclusion that maybe he should have asked Areum out alone to avoid having Ryu chat her up.
While the other four are speaking amongst themselves, Ryu has Areum tripping over her words as he’s slowly closing the space between them, his eyes sparkling with mirth when only an incoherent sentence falls from her lips.
“Ah..” her breath catches in her throat when the boy tucks a few strands of her hair behind her ear, her gaze landing on anything other than his face. Her heart is racing so fast to the point that she’s pretty sure everyone at the table can hear it and she hates herself for feeling like this; it’s a common reaction when faced with a difficult situation.
Kyungsoo gags to himself and Taeji raises his eyebrows in agreement, causing the other girls to laugh silently, their eyes squinted as they clutch their stomachs at all the interactions currently going on at the table; it’s quite sweet that the boys seem to be drawn to Areum, but Ryu seems to be taking a step further even though he’s only talked to her today.
Taeji frantically pulls out his phone when he catches Ryu in the act of creating a bulgogi wrap for Areum, Kyungsoo biting his knuckles nervously.
Right when Ryu was going to offer the wrap, his phone vibrated in his pocket. Areum breathes a silent sigh of relief and holds her hand to her chest to calm her heart, glad to have her space back.
Ryu practically chokes from laughter when he reads the text message he received.
tae g: leave her alon e u slut!!!
With the boy distracted, Taeji takes this chance to grab the bottom of Areum’s seat and drags her closer to him to protect her from the big, bad wolf.
Another text message to Ryu, from Kyungsoo.
k su: if you feed her tht bulgogi wrap i swear on my life i will beat ur fucking ass, beanstalk bitch
This beanstalk bitch can’t stop laughing. He’s practically gagging on the water he’s sipping on and the girls are just hoping he chokes soon so that they can eat in peace.
Areum doesn’t know what’s going on and she’s pretty sure she never will, and she’s even more confused when Taeji curls an arm around her front, his hand pressing her back so that her shoulders are flush against his chest. This causes Kyungsoo to nod in approval and Ryu rolls his eyes with a coy grin, fiddling with his hair to fix his messy topknot before again giving all his attention to Areum.
“Come on, man,” Ryu’s smile is blindingly handsome and Areum can’t help but squint her eyes, her face cringing in astonishment. This guy is certainly on another level.
She hates it.
“What’s Areum to you?” he jabs, also looking at Kyungsoo with raised eyebrows, “And you? Why can’t I spend some quality time with this gal?”
There’s a short, but deafening silence that falls over the table until Min speaks up to cover the boys, “They don’t trust you because you’re incapable of keeping your clothes on after a girl’s paid attention to you for more than 7 minutes.”
With a scoff, the long haired man picks up the wrap he had previously made for Areum, his free hand under the food just in case anything spills from the lettuce, everybody watching as he again tries to bring the wrap to Areum’s mouth.
“I’ll beat your ass if you give that shit to Areum.” Aemi’s mouth is full of chicken and rice as she speaks and it causes Ryu to reel back, giving his target space to breathe again. The girl who’s eating is pointing her spoon at the man and she gives a crude smile while Min tends to her with a cup of ice cold water.
Kyungsoo harrumphs as the enemy retreats with his tail between his legs and Taeji grins proudly at his female companions, petting Areum’s lovely bangs that cover her forehead while simultaneously pressing his cheek against the side of her head in an affectionate manner, “Suck it, bitch.”
Kyungsoo sends one more text message to Ryu, his head nodding in agreement with Taeji.
k su: suck it
As this is all happening, Areum has resumed eating the cooked meat that is sitting on the hot grill, making sure to shove plenty of rice into her mouth to chase after the salty and sweetness of the food. The sound of her chewing practically makes her deaf to the whole conversation going on.
She’s really starting to enjoy this barbecue.
Min orders three more bowls of rice for Areum and starts to grill more meat, her mouth full of lettuce, rice, and pickled vegetables. The girl watching over the meat makes sure there’s more chicken for Areum to eat while everyone else can have the beef; no one seems to mind, but joins in on pampering their newly acquainted friend, save for Ryu.
It finally feels like Areum somewhat belongs in her group as they pay attention to her by doing little things, like putting more food in her rice bowl, filling up her cup of water, or just asking how she’s feeling and letting her join in the conversation.
Everyone has a sense of humor that Areum would never be able to achieve, but she’s just happy to be laughing along with them. They don’t make her speak when she doesn’t know how to respond to something, and they mind their own business when she has difficulty answering a question.
Ryu’s tongue rolls out of his mouth when he licks his lips and notices the look in Kyungsoo and Taeji’s eyes as they’re directed to Areum.
He knows that look.
His thumbs are rapidly tapping against his phone screen as he texts the two boys, his eyes sparkling with glee.
do not answer: UR IN LOVE BITCH!!!!!!!
Ryu is practically howling in his seat as he makes this discovery and it annoys everyone at the table to no end, especially the girls. There’s tears in his eyes as he laughs to himself, his hand clutching his stomach at how hilarious the situation is since two friends have fallen for the same girl. He can’t believe he almost fell for her subtle, but soft charms as well; she’s a better fox than he is a player.
Areum grimaces when he looks over at the slim, but built man on her left when he giggles childishly to himself and it kind of ticks her off, but she brushes it off. If she wants to be friends with everyone, she has to accept them first.
To support this, she decides to take a spoonful of rice and top it off with a piece of her chicken and perilla leaf. Convincing herself that this would be her first step when embracing this man as a friend.
With her free hand cupped under the spoon, she moves forward in her seat, away from Taeji’s clingy grasp. With the intent of making a new friendship bloom, she looks at Ryu expectantly, opening a mouth to let out a quiet ahh sound.
There’s surprise on the man’s face when he looks away from his phone, but nonetheless appreciates the fact that the girl is reaching out to him first. With the sharp gaze she’s giving him, he absolutely can not refuse, and so he opens his mouth to receive the blessing of food, humming in exaggerated appreciation as he grabs her hand to help her pull the spoon out of his mouth.
“Thank you.” he throws a wink in Areum’s direction and basks in the pure rage that is radiating off of the boys.
What amuses Ryu even more is when Kyungsoo and Taeji sulk as Areum is also fed by Aemi and Min, in which she responds in kind with pieces of seafood pancake.
This man feels like he is on top of the world although he was just fed a mere spoonful of food, and he can’t help the complacent smile that appears on his face when he watches Areum receive her bowls of rice and offer one to him, letting the other males glare at him all they want.
do not answer: you know, if you like her, just ask her out lmao
The boys scoff at the same time when they receive the text message.
Taeji blocks him while Kyungsoo has most likely reported the number. Ryu anticipated this, but never thought they’d do it so suddenly so he pouts to himself when his other texts don’t go through to the guys. He starts to dm them on instagram, snapchat, and even manages to get through to their facebook somehow.
They both left him on seen and read.
This is despicable.
Areum’s on autopilot as she eats through her bowls of rice, the other girls clapping in amazement.
Eating too much carbs can affect your weight and Areum doesn’t seem to have a care in the world. It’s impressive; admirable. Aemi aspires to be like that.
Kyungsoo and Taeji are eating quietly to themselves since Ryu ruined their moods, but they can’t seem to take their eyes off of the girl who’ve caught their heart quite long ago. Her cheeks are full with food and her eyebrows are furrowed in concentration as she stacks meat upon meat on top of her rice, but Taeji sees it as the cutest thing ever while Kyungsoo is batting his eyelashes at her prettily; daydreaming.
Ryu decides to ruin the rest of their afternoon by stealing Areum’s spoonful of food with a teasing laugh, his eyes the shape of crescents as a joyful hum vibrates against his chest. The girl doesn’t react for the first five seconds, but after that, she’s frowning to herself, eating the rest of the rice that Ryu had missed on the spoon by licking it off the cutlery.
“If you wanted me to give you some you could have asked,” she muttered childishly under her breath, tucking in the rest of the rice in her bowl onto her spoon, laying a piece of chicken across it before holding it out for Ryu; letting him take the last bite to show that she is willing to sacrifice for this friendship.
And sacrifice is a pretty heavy word.
Everyone’s practically screaming and holding their heads by look of their faces and Ryu can’t help but laugh hysterically at all the looks that are being pointed at him, the only gaze that would make him stop laughing and coo is probably Areum’s, as she’s looking at him with tired eyes and pouty lips.
Eating makes her tired.
“You know,” Taeji starts off calmly, his hand shooting out to pull Areum’s seat back towards him with an agitated look, “I really don’t appreciate you flirting with my girl like that.”
The adrenaline runs through Ryu’s veins and it’s like he’s getting high off of the negative emotions of others, so he reaches out for Areum, his fingers brushing against her cheek as he looks straight at Taeji. “Since when was she your girl?” he taunts, his fingers playfully tickling Areum under her chin, “I don’t recall any news of you two going out.”
All eyes are on Taeji now and Kyungsoo’s gulping nervously, his frown permanent on his face. Areum’s surprised at the conversation that’s going on, and suddenly she feels like she doesn’t belong in the situation even though she’s the catalyst of it.
The sound of Taeji clearing his throat snaps her out of his daze, his hand promptly reaching out for Areum so that he can press her flat against his chest again. There’s a challenging look in his eyes when he stares Ryu down, and with a tender kiss to Areum’s cheek, Taeji trails his fingertips down her jaw while he drops a bomb on everyone.
“She’s been mine for three years.”
Kyungsoo’s heart deflates.
