what are some cool games u have played? dont matter if u mentioned before. tell me again tell me again :D
uhh hmm.
well okami is my all time favorite the art & the music & the message/story are all just incredible theres not a single time ive finished it i havent cried. i absolutely adore ryoshima coast ive spent so many hours just running around there to listen to music. which fun fact for u i only know about this game bc in about 6th grade i picked up okamiden bc i thought the little doggy was cute & was like fine i'll play as this boy if i get a cool dog and u cannot imagine how excited i was to find out u DID play as the little dog. i was SOOOOO obsessed literally my exact thoughts were 'if issun is ammy's celestial envoy then i am going to be chibis' i have a metric fuck ton of fan art i did at the time bc i thought it was quote "the epic-est game for ds ever" also cried every time i finished it. i was 13 so i didnt know what "being down bad" was but do know i was as obsessed with kurow as i was with d-ne later and now tenshi not a single irl friend was unaware i was in love with him. also fun fact for u bc at the same time i was also getting super into vocaloid i was so convinced my vocap name would end up as chibiP to the point i named myself that in pkmn x chibiP after chibiterasu of course. please enjoy my banger old art which is not even a fraction of my output
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
yume nikki is my next favorite game specifically the og that changed my brain chemistry as a kid. i adore that game so much its hard to put it into words. its just so unlike anything else. there is absolutely nothing in the game that can directly harm u theres no real health meter theres no way to die during the main play the absolute worst that will ever happen is u get stuck or woken up. in a horror game. which is already just amazing. and the whole horror aspect just plays on something i dont think is often done as well in many other things. ur alone. u wander and wander thru worlds that loop and connect and seemingly have nothing to do with each other. theres no dialogue; talking to npcs just gets u a noise or animation at best. ur entirely alone with just urself. its all dreams so u know everything is of madotsuki's own creation, another layer to the all u have is urself feeling. the art is just unusual i cant even say any of it on its own is in anyway scary. the whole thing shouldnt be scary and yet every time i start wandering in a world i cant help but feel unease. amazing 10/10 no other game will ever have what this gave me.
everyone knows i play pkmn the best is still pmd sky that also rewired my brain i still cant play it without crying.
its been a long time since i was really just playing it as the chapters released & got translated but 1bitheart is so so so important to me too. i dont kin for multiple reasons but if i did nanashi would be my first choice. like- without saying that to her i got my one irl friend to play once & when she saw how nanashi was she turned to me and went "this is just you" hes very important to me even now. absolutely loved the whole friendship sim & the story & its twists & the endings & their implications left me in shambles at 1 am on a school night. my fave charas are nanashi enri & saaya btw. i should replay this.
i also love the etrian odyssey series i love the character portraits (esp with the more recent games' color customization) i LOVE the dungeon art & i think all the monster designs are so cool. adore the whole make ur own map aspect keeps me so entertained to take a step & look around & chart all the walls & path ways. unfortunately i fucking suck at every single one i am not very good at strategy games so i end up stuck at or before the 3rd stratum. but thats okay its still fun to me.
the other one i'll talk about at length is spirit of the north another game i loved the art of. u play as a fox & get a partner spirit fox & i just love it SOOOO much. its also a game with 0 dialogue but theres A Lot going on it if u care to follow along & explore & dig into details & the game play is also pretty fun to me. this is the one game i started learning the speedrun btw thats also a very fun way to play it but ABSOLUTELY play it as intended first it has so much to offer
aaaand special mentions to omori, oneshot, witch's house, mermaid swamp, corpse party, & limbus company

a choice to be made | c.s, c.jh (preview)
summary: you've come face to face with your hardest dilemma, yet; stuck in the middle between the one who came first and the one who came later, both of them incredibly special to you in their own ways but there's only one choice to be made
pairing: choi san x f!reader, choi jongho x f!reader
genre: angst, fluff, love triangle-ish, suggestive, etc
release date: tbd
a/n: i usually like working on oneshots discreetly but i've made this one an exception and will be accepting a taglist if anyone wants in on it. again, this is a oneshot only.
jongho’s known you for a long time.
he’s known you since the fourth grade when he found you huddled in the corner with doe and scared eyes after the teacher sent all you nine years old to go find a partner for a small assignment.
watching as your much smaller hands curled together at the front, all kinds of nervous and uneasiness on you playing for him as a witness that he couldn’t help but to feel extremely bad.
so quiet and reserved you were; he hadn’t even realized you were in his class until the very moment.
he had politely excused himself from his friends, telling the two they were fine to partner up without him and made way toward your smaller frame, the pout on you as if you were about to give up on anyone asking until you caught him in a short staring contest.
“would you like to be my partner?” he asked, even from that age conscious of the fact he had to be gentle as to not scare you away–contented when you nodded with the lightest smile gracing your lips.
“what’s your name?” he tried breaking the ice, sitting at the desk beside you that the teacher had told the kids to put together.
“y/n…” you answered, short of a whisper and so shy, you refused to look him in the eyes which made a giggle bubble out of him as you could only stare at the kind boy who saved you.
“nice to meet you, y/n. i’m jongho.”
and you had surely thought that it would a one time thing; that after the task of having to name a bunch of a things based on categories with him doing 70% of the work was finished, he would never want to speak to you again.
but jongho with his determination to get to know you and become friends, never left you alone a single day in your life after the first meeting, his persistence to start small conversations or include you in everything never failing because you started coming out of your shell bit by bit.
by the time you two entered fifth grade, you were practically friends even if you wouldn’t admit it at the time, jongho could see the new changes and eagerness that wasn’t there before.
he saw smiles you would try to fight and laughters with attempts to hide them, sometimes even courageous enough to return snarky replies that took him by surprise in the greatest way possible.
he knew he wanted to be friends with you for a long time.
you weren’t only full of surprises, but you were genuinely a good person. someone he wanted to be around despite some obvious differences as humans, nonetheless, able to be held together by similar morals and ethics that carried the relationship to high school; the starting realization that you understood and got him even more than his friends.
you became a safe space for him; a place of comfort where he never felt judged or like he had to be perfect.
he would cycle his lunch and free times between you and his friends, often than not favoring the time spent with you because you were still too shy around people who wasn’t him, but mainly because he was tired of hearing his friends’ teases and remarks.
comments about him having a crush on you that he would passionately deny every time, trying to persuade his friends and himself to an extent that he only saw you as a friend and no more.
even going as far as to disagree with them you looked good the day you started to put more efforts into your appearance just so he could prove a point and show you didn’t have an effect on him.
unfortunately much to his dismay and failed act, he wasn’t even offended his friends called him a pussy, his mind unable to rid of the statement that was only said in a lighthearted manner that if he doesn’t step up his game, he’s gonna be sorry for it one day if someone else comes along.

question about journalism- as someone aspiring to get into it for college, what are your tips on becoming more educated(?) on it? like skills, prior knowledge, whatnot-? thank you!
oh, this is a great question with a lot of different answers!!!
first of all, i'm going to assume you're in the u.s.—mostly bc that's where most of my experience comes from—and as such, there's a lot of stuff to research/examine bc the field is so vast!!!
if you have a particular sub-sect of journalism that you know you'd love to focus on (things like photo/print/broadcast/radio, but also subdivisions like celebrity, politics, sports, traditional "hard" news, media journalism, etc.) i really encourage you to seek out reading/hearing the work of other journalists! find folks whose work you admire, and why you might like their stuff. is it the content itself? is it their writing style? is it the approach they take? think about all of that as you peruse!
on that note—vary your interests in the journalism you consume! if you read a lot of print, try a podcast (like npr, the daily, the new york times, not technically a podcast but i really like the "under the desk" tiktoks) if you listen to a lot of podcasts, try a documentary, if you watch a lot of documentaries, try print! etc. etc.
oh, also—in and of itself, there's a lot to study about journalism! its effects on history, legal rulings, ethical dilemmas, etc. find what interests you—i almost guarantee you can wrangle a number of papers out of it for assignments! plus, there's certainly been a lot of studies/books about it, which are great resources to learn about what shapes the field today!
if you're not rising immediately into college, i'd say work on your high school publications, if offered. that gave me several practical skills i found pretty helpful stepping into various intro courses, but don't sweat it if you haven't—a lot of those intro courses have tas/labs/times for you to learn and ask questions
since you are going into college—if any of your professors have published books, check them and see if they interest you! look up advanced courses and see what subjects pique your interest! check out your campus publications, and if there are any notable alums who have gone on in the field, and just generally the history of your journalism school.
some (a lot) of journalism schools also have memberships into certain membership/socities—editors, broadcast reporters, etc., along with if you're poc/queer/a woman/etc.—poke around! see what you enjoy! hit up informational meetings!
(also, side note—your college library might have subscriptions to a lot of publications. take advantage! read 'em! watch 'em!)
subscribe to your local news, if you have the financial means! both of your hometown and college town!
there are so, so, so many books and documentaries that have been published—it's really just a question of finding the ones that interest you! here's penguin house's list of must-read books by journalists and goodread's journalism category to get you started.
oh, also, not strictly journalism related, but still important—invest in some variant of self-care. writing silly oneshots was so helpful to me in college when i was covering harder-hitting subjects, a night out with friends in the program to vent about certain goings-ons was both cathartic and a good way to stay updated on things, long walks while going to and from class while catching up on music i wanted to listen to helped clear my head. unsure of what your subject is, but especially for a lot of earlier courses, you might be various beats that have harder-hitting subjects in addition to your typical course load—remember to take care of yourself!

Tagged by @mordinette ! Thank you for thinking of me. It's fun looking back at past fics!
---------------------------------------
Most popular fic:  About Mars . . .
Tumblr media
It's not my fic with the highest number of kudos, but relative to hits, chapter/word count, and age, I consider it my most succesful fic. Once my WIP (which currently has more kudos) finishes posting, I foresee this fic passing it by in the long-term. It's heads and shoulders more popular than my other stories on FFN too.
It makes sense, I guess, why it would be more popular. It's a more typical fanfic-type story. It's set during the game, a mix of fluff and angst, but mostly upbeat and fun. It's a collection of loosely connected scenes focused on characters and relationships without the strain of following a plot.
Best fic: Sideways
Tumblr media
It's the longest, most elaborate of my stories. It took years to finish the first draft and start posting it. For my tastes, it's everything I enjoy in writing and reading a story --secrets, twists, slow burn, complex relationships, politics, adventure, high stakes, ethical dilemmas. The post-war period allows me the creative freedom to worldbuild a "new" galaxy, develop canon characters and relationships my own way, and create my own plot.
Favorite fic:  Burning Barriers
Tumblr media
I'm betting that for most writers their best story is also their favorite story. That's true in my case, so I'll go with second favorite.
This was a story that started everything. It was the first novel-length story I wrote to completion. It gave me the closure I needed from the ending of Mass Effect and let me get past my perfectionism for the first time to realize my dream of writing a novel. It established a writing process that works for me, and it actually came out to be a series of three novels.
I still love this post-war story. I created my own plot, evolved the characters, and dove into sci fi action/adventure which I never imagined writing. I cherish it not only for the story but for the personal meaning.
Least favorite: The Favorite
(ironic title for the category, right?)
It isn't a surprise that this is my least favorite fic. It's the only non-fShenko story I've written. It was requested in a Christmas gift exchange, and at first, I was overwhelmed with the idea of how to write a Wrex-Garrus-femShep love triangle oneshot. It stretched me, but I produced a story I still feel good about. Ultimately, it was written for someone else, not myself.
I dread the day when it passes the kudos count of all my other fics, including the epic multichapter ones. With a Shakarian tag, it has a huge hand up over my fShenko passion projects. It's only a matter of time.
Tagging: @ripley95 @rpgwrites @pigeontheoneandonly @alphahelices @laelior @halesshepardn7 @acciokaidanalenko @ficbrish @a-cosmic-elf @tealenko @aricazorel @citadelsushi @miniature-space-hamster @hardcore-like-eezo and anyone else who wants to play! No pressure. This is just for fun if you're up for sharing.

Is there any fic in which Bucky died for real on that train and somehow hydra managed to clone him but later Steve decided to let him go because it was unethical? Just curious......
Not sure about what you mean by ‘letting go because unethical’, but try these, maybe?
Have To Put Him On A Shelf* by herecomesbucktofuckshitup (complete | 124,726 | M) */others
James’ life was weird. He was born in a HYDRA lab, a clone of an assassin who was actually the brainwashed best friend of Captain America. He was rescued and raised by SHIELD. You might say he has some identity issues. He tried to have a normal life: he went to college, made friends, got a job, all while trying to honor the memory of Bucky Barnes, the man that he might have been, once. That all gets shot to hell when Captain Steve Rogers is discovered in the wreckage of the Valkyrie.
Steve’s life was weird. He grew up skinny and sickly with his best friend by his side. When war came to his country, he wanted to fight, to protect people. He became a super-powered soldier, and a symbol of victory for his country. He fought against HYDRA and watched the love of his life fall to his death. He died and woke up in a new world, where nothing was the same. That is, until he runs into a young man that looks just like Bucky...
The Blood Will Dry* by castiowl (complete | 81,726 | E) *graphic violence
He hates this – the waiting and the hoping. And he’s expected to do both because he’s Captain America, but all Steve Rogers wants to do is punch Hydra in the collective face for scraping up the vestiges of his friend just to haunt him.
Steve goes looking for Bucky, but the Winter Soldier finds him first. Steve isn't exactly qualified to deal with the neurotic mess that is his oldest friend, but he'll try his damndest. In the meantime, Hydra has other plans for Steve, plans that involve someone who looks remarkably like Bucky.
Part 1 of The Blood Will Dry
Out of the Dead Land by orphan_account (complete | 62,707 | E)
Someone is building machines that look and act like people.
Meanwhile, the Winter Soldier tries to be Bucky Barnes.
the steve rogers home for wayward barneses* by sonatine (complete | 13,316 | M) *polyamory
Sarge’s bakery is called Howling — not because he is uncreative, but because he is comprised of approximately 90% loyalty. Only a few shy academics ask him if he’s the James Barnes. Sarge only shrugs because there are many James Barnes in the world — and several James Buchanan Barneses in the Brooklyn area alone
Not Without You* by JazzBFabulous (WIP | 1,989 | M) *chose not to warn
Steve and Bucky are leaving the compound where the other Winter Soldiers were being kept after the battle with Tony. Suddenly, a man comes forth from the shadows who looks exactly Bucky Barnes. Is he a clone? Is it a trick created by Hydra? Is he dangerous.
Find out in this fanfic. Lots of gay. Lots of Shrunkyclunks
ETA:
skarabrae-stone submitted:
For the anon who asked for clone Bucky fics, may I suggest Siege by ftmsteverogers?
Siege by ftmsteverogers (oneshot | 22,185 | E)
Description: “Steve called him Bucky, and the Winter Soldier was trying to shoulder into that name like a badly-fitting jacket.
Or, the one where the Winter Soldier pulls Steve from the Potomac and sticks around this time.”
Includes lots of identity-related angst, Steve having various ethical dilemmas, and Bucky coming to terms with his identity and what he wants for himself.
