I wish I could better articulate my thoughts about this but my brain is a chunky alphabet soup and the words escape me. But. The gist of it is I can't stop thinking about Gale and Astarion.

Gale, who is such a romantic. Gale who is so slow to jump into bed and even when he does it's careful. It's romantic. It's about the connection before it's about anything else. Gale who is so ready to love completely, unconditionally, fully.

And Astarion, who hides his vulnerability behind a false hypersexuality. Who flirts and flaunts as a survival tactic. Who's probably never in his hundreds of years of life and unlife known any love that wasn't transactional. Who thinks he can't be loved.

There's more here. There's thoughts I can't grasp but. But. Gods. I just feel like if anyone is up to the task of showing Astarion that he's worthy and that he's more than what Cazador made him, it's Gale.

They could be so bad for each other (opposing approvals but a shared hunger for power) but by the gods they could also be SO GOOD for each other.

Successfully gaslight, gatekeep, girlbossed Jaheira into staying after killing Isobel, but Shadowheart and Gale yelled at Ashe, so now she's sitting in a corner in Slayer form poking her fingers together and thinking about her choices.

My big wishes for new Wyll content!

Ones that I believe would be easy to implement:

Romance greetings! At least 2-3 like the other companions seem to have!

Let Wyll decide what he wants to do with Mizora’s deal in Act 3! I think there is a hidden mechanic for Shadowheart that determines whether or not she chooses to save her parents on her own (player has to persuade otherwise). I would love something similar for Wyll where he can make his own choice, but the player can still potentially sway him one direction or another.

Ones that would be more difficult/time consuming to implement, but I still want.

Act 1

An approval based camp interaction! Kind of like how when you get a high approval with Gale, regardless of flirtation, you can get the Weave Scene. I would love something for when you reach 40+ approval with him, and I would love the scene to have nothing to do with Karlach or Mizora (probably would be easier to implement because there would be fewer permutations). Maybe Wyll can talk about what it means to be a hero over a pint of beer or something.

A romance scene prior to the tiefling party! All the other companions have options for an early romance trigger, I would love something like that for Wyll!

A Post-Karlach scene where Wyll thinks back on his choices and maybe opens up to the player how he’s feeling. Kind of similar to Astarion’s Mirror Scene. (Maybe this could be a potential romance scene? Option to hold his hand or lean against him or something?)

Act 2

I actually think Wyll is okay in terms of Act 2 content when compared to the other companions, but I would love for the player to have a non-romantic non-standard dialogue with Wyll as well! Maybe Wyll can talk a bit about his relationship with his father and the player can get a better idea of how important Ulder is to him.

A cutscene similar to Shadowheart’s wolf flashback when Wyll finally gets to share the circumstances of his pact.

Act 3

I would love a non-standard scene after the player rescues/fails to rescue Ulder. Maybe the player finds Wyll hanging out by his old fishing spot. If Ulder dies, Wyll can reminisce on his father’s fate. If Ulder lives, maybe after the player talks with Wyll for a bit, Ulder comes to sit next to Wyll. As the player walks away to give them family time, they hear them laughing.

More reactivity to the Wyrmway quest. I would also love it if you have Wyll in the party, maybe you have the chance to get Ansur on your side.

A way to ACTUALLY deal with Mizora. Really. I think part of the reason Wyll’s quest feels a bit unsatisfying to me is because we never get to deal with the main problem: Mizora. I WANT TO FIGHT MIZORA SO BAD.

Completely Selfish Desire

I wanna get Wyll naked if he’s romanced 👀 I am a simple woman, I see a hot man and I wanna see a hot man.

Anyways, these are just a couple of things that I think could be added without completely altering Wyll’s current quest. I might flesh out some of these ideas more later, but these are just my thoughts.

I wanna romance astarion so bad in this campaign but I accidently fucked up a little in the beginning before I fully decided and went for gale and THEN I had to break it off with him and when I tell you I almost cried I felt so bad. So I asked my friend, who has NEVER played BG3, what they think about the characters based on watching my gameplay and clips from TikTok and this is what they said:

ASTARION

Moody brat, except he’s really sweet sometimes? But still a brat. Very hungry and wants to use Tav as a capri sun. He’s also a chaotic goose. Goostarian.

KARLACH

EMO EMO EMO!! She comes across as bratty to me. I saw a little bit of her story, and I think it’s cool that she defied her god, but yeah. Sucks to be abandoned by Mommy.

GALE

I heard somebody say once the boy likes to mansplain, so Gale left a sour taste in my mouth after that. Uhhh people say he’s autistic, too? In my friend’s play through, he had electric boots and was standing in ankle-deep water, and then went on to talk about books or something…? Also he’s the guy you meet in the beginning and you can slap his hand. I think that’s funny. His god groomed him, though, so that’s no good. Um…yeah, I think Gale standing in water with electric boots talking about books kinda sums up his character for me.

MINTHARA

I thought she was the Drow with the tainted blood, but she’s not. To recruit her, you gotta kill kids, and is it worth it? Some might say yes. I say that we lose Karlach for it, so no. It’s cool that she thanks you for not killing her. Gotta be some good angst there. I feel like most people just kill the Tieflings without thinking, so she’s probably a second play through kind of character.

My friend said she’s coded Hispanic, so now I just imagine her making tacos and burritos in camp for the crew. (Is that racist…? Look I love Gale and I don't want anyone to feel bad about loving Gale, nor do I wanna fight but people are so absurdly hard on Mystra.

Putting aside the fact that she shouldn't be romancing mortals (people generally misunderstand how God's in this world work and misunderstand that Mystra was an adventurer who has only been a living goddess for a few decades) Mystra was not being manipulative by asking Gale for the crown of Karsus.

You can be pissed at her for asking Gale to sacrifice himself, despite the fact that he was going to die from his own self inflicted illness. But to perceive the request for the crown, a second request for forgiveness after Gale denied her first, one that doesn't require him sacrificing his own life, as manipulation on her part is nearly bordering on misogyny I'm being so serious.

The whole ROLE of her as Mystra is to protect her domain. The crown of Karsus DESTROYED MYSTRYL AND THE WEAVE! Why do y'all give her no consideration while giving Gale a whole weaves worth of benefit of the doubt? Please remember that when she literally feeds her power, the source of all magic, into Gales self inflicted power hungry orb, Gale immediately becomes power hungry again.

Gales insecurity leads him to having narcissistic traits, the Orb is a reminder of his folly leads him into a depressive episode because he requires greatness to feed his ego, and immediately when that wound is sated he goes back to his old ways!

Again y'all can like Gale, but you can live in the grey that both of these characters exist in. Yes she's a literal goddess I understand that, But she's not actually omniscient and omnipotent. Her current incarnation has literally died before. She's capable of Mistakes just as Gale is, and we literally only get his side of the account. Plenty of mortals mingle with the Gods in this world, Mystra literally rose to Godhood due to this proximity, Gale isn't ignorant of that fact.

Idk I am only so passionate about this because Gale is the most blatantly concerning companion. His red flags are glaring! I stan a problematic king like anyone else but c'mon now he's not a lil uwu baby who was had. Give him the credit of his own mistakes and flaws! He's literally the only companion who is directly the cause of his own undoing in his past life and people are so quick to sweep it under the rug.

finally got the game after months of waiting to be able to buy it!

my Tav! Or specifically, their name is Dami Lotusmint. i just wanna infodump about them.

the type of person to nonchalantly demand tallfolk to get on their knees on dami's eye-level if they're gonna talk about serious matters.

they're a lightfoot halfling monk (way of the open hand) / cleric (knowledge domain) of ilmater, with the guild artisan background.

dami was born in baldur's gate and considers it their home, despite having only lived there in their early childhood. most of their years from when they were twelve to a young adult, they somehow ended up stuck living in mulmaster after some unfortunate circumstances, before winding up taking shelter in the monastery of the yellow rose and becoming a disciple there.

gets picked up by the nautiloid during the one time they visited the monastery of the yellow rose, after leaving it for a couple of years to travel faerun and figure out their own roots.

a generally no-nonsense sort of good and kind. but also playful and indulgent. usually dry sense of humor. typically selfless and compassionate as what's expected from an ilmatari.

but reaaaally likes fighting and combat. real practical and pragmatic. can get surprisingly irrational and recklessly aggressive about certain things they refuse to completely explain.

very socially aware, almost way too vigilant and conscious about, so they're pretty adaptive and versatile with how they talk to different kinds of people. still independent and guarded. pretty business-minded. rather knowledgeable.

leans real hard to be the hypercompetent leader they inevitably become, esp with the type of companions they end up having to get rid of the tadpole.

they're generally a high-functioning alcoholic.

by the time they decided to officially slaughter the goblin camp, dami downed two bottles of booze before astarion poisoned it.

dami is a cleric of ilmater, but in a domain ilmater doesn't have a completely accurate dominion over (knowledge).

but they were a monk first. they strive to embody the principles and philosophy of ilmater.

but they somehow keep ilmater at arms' length, and keeps clinging on this divine connection in a tight grasp at the same time. (ilmater wants them sooo bad lmao)

reeeeaally complicated relationship with the value and meaning of suffering. has no patience for senseless and unnecessary sacrifices, despite being pretty self-sacrifical themselves.

in other matters, dami really gets around. strictly for fun. they've slept with astarion and lae'zel, and has flirted with karlach.
