Dig You A Grave Part 2
(Again thank you for @im-totally-not-an-alien-2 for the prompt. Also shout out to @spoopyspoony for the hilarious tag)
Klarion had succeeded in his mission of obtaining the tome for The Light, but at a heavy cost to himself.
Teekl had emerged from the Mayor’s Mansion having successfully gotten the book, only to be seen by the junior justice babies. They divided their attacks between him and his beloved familiar. In the end he was able to grab the book as he a Teekl were separated by a blast. Deciding to lead the heroes away and return for his beloved feline, Klarion took to the sky. Once he knew it was safe to return, the witch boy began his search for Teekl.
It had been three days and Klarion had not found her yet. Anger and worry clouded his vision, as he continued his search.
The powerful witch boy was getting sick of the light. All they cared about was their stupid plan. They kept the Lord of Chaos on a short leash, gave him rules to follow, and had him run errands, like some servant. And to top it all off none of them had cared the Teekl was missing. Savage had the audacity to tell him to just find a new one, as if that man had any power over him. He decided to find Teekl and then make his decision about the light.
The Day Before
Danny was excited about fostering the cat he found. She was so sweet, and really well trained. He didn’t even know cats could be trained. His parents had let him foster the cat, when he explained how he had stumbled upon her after the ghost fight. Also mentioning how the feline had orange fur, and it reminded him of Jazz, didn’t hurt either.
Sam and Tucker had joined him when he went to the pet store to pick up items for his new house guest.
“What if she doesn’t like anything?” Danny worried.
“Simple we will donate what we can to shelters and local rescues and come back and get different items.” Sam replied as she grabbed a bag of Churu’s off the wall.
“More importantly, since when do you buy meat products?” Tucker asked, raising a brow at Sam.
“While cats are omnivores, they eat mostly meat. Just because I am a vegan doesn’t mean I’m going to make a poor animal suffer and deny it proper nutrition.” Sam replied, giving Tucker a look.
“Huh, I didn’t know that. Maybe I should pick up a book or two on cats while we are here.” Danny said, pushing the cart down the aisle.
If Sam decided her parents should foot the bill after they had tried to replace her favorite combat boots with pastel pink kitten heels, who were the boys to complain about the Manson’s generous donation for this poor, injured kitty. They got everything, wet food, dry food, bowls for food and water, a water fountain bowl, treats in all shapes and sizes, a wool cat cave bed, a cat tree, toy and more.
Once Teekl (she had a collar with her name on the tag) had been released from the vet, which the Manson’s also paid for, Danny took her straight home, hopeful she liked it. He read the book they got and followed the vet’s advice to start by introducing her in a small safe area. The upstairs bathroom was perfect because only he really used it now that Jazz was off at college. Not everything they bought would fit into the bathroom, so Danny made the decision to put the necessities and a few extras. No matter how funny Tock found it he was not putting the cat tree in there. Carpet in the bathroom is disgusting. Just the simple ceramic food and matching water dish, the new litter box, and the shirt he was wearing when he rescued her, on top of an old pillow that smelled like Danny.
Opening the carrier, Danny watched as Teekl walked out, examining her new surroundings. She gave a courteous sniff to the food, took a few laps of water, and then plopped herself down onto her makeshift bed. Confused but happy that she felt comfortable, Danny continued to watch, making sure she was comfortable.
After a few minutes Danny left her to her own to finish settling in, making sure to close the door. Returning to his room to finish setting all the cat supplies up. Placing a bed between his dresser and the wall so she could hide in comfort. The cat tree between his bed and the window, so she can sun herself, as well as use it like steps to get on his bed. The water fountain off to the side, on a rubber mat, and her food bowl near by but not too close. And a basket, holding a variety of toys slide nicely under his bed.
Checking his watch, the young halfa decided to check on his furry little house guest again. Standing up, and turning around, the ghost boy is shocked. There sitting in his doorway, cleaning their paw without a care in the world, is Teekl.
“Well, I guess you’ve adjusted to being here then.” Danny muttered, leaning down to pick up the orange tabby. Surprised that she not only let him pick her up, but began to purr, he turned around and began to how her his room.
By the end of the day Teekl was sunning herself in the last rays of sunlight as Danny finished up his homework for school tomorrow. It was a nice relaxing moment in his hectic life. He began dissociating and didn’t notice the cat in his lap until she began to headbutt his chin. Blinking back to the present Danny looked down and smiled, gently petting the purring feline. He knows that eventually Teekl’s owner will come for her, and he does want her to be returned, but another part of him wants her to stay with him forever.
Waking up to a warm, purring cat on his chest has to be one of the best feelings in the world. Danny doesn’t want this moment to end really. He feels like a normal teenager for the first time in a long while.
Trying not to dwell on the fact that he isn’t normal, the teen gently gets up to start his day. Teekl decides to lay in the warm spot he just left.
Danny dressed quickly, rushing through his morning routine, making sure he had enough time to take care of Teekl before he rushed off. After checking everything, and topping off her food in water, Danny crouched down beside his bed, eye level with the sweet tabby.
“Alright cutie, I have to go to school now. I topped off your food and water. There are plenty of comfy and warm places to take a nap. Stay out of the fridge. I’m pretty sure the hotdogs have overthrown the ham. Also stay out of the basement. It’s dangerous and my parents wouldn’t know lab safety if it bit them.” Danny stated as he rubbed her head.
He stood up. Two rings of bright light engulfed him, and a moment later a teen in a black and white hazmat suit, white hair that seemed to move with no wind, and a pair of glowing green eyes.
“I’ll be back after school.” Danny said with a wave, turning intangible as he rushed off to school.
In his hurry he didn’t notice the glint in feline’s eye as he rushed off to school. Softly jumping down from the bed, she made her way to the door and down the stairs, only stopping for a bit of food and a drink of water.
Teekl would have usually returned as quickly as possible to Klarion, but this time was different. The being that helped her had smelled of death and power, and she was curious, after all she was a cat.
—————
Danny had made it to school on time for once, and was able to grab some food before class started.
“Wow you're on time for once.” Tucker snickered.
“Yeah, I woke up early to take care of Teeks, and no ghosts, so I also grabbed breakfast.” Danny bragged.
“Teeks? You already gave her a nickname? Danny, you know she’s not your cat.” Sam stated.
“I know. It’s just a nickname, don't worry.” Danny replied as he turned toward the board as the bell range.
—————
By lunch Danny was bored and missed Teekl. His idea of sneaking out and checking on her during lunch got thrown out as his ghost sense went off. Lunch Lady was back and had taken over the cafeteria. Ducking for cover behind an overturned table, he peered out to a scene that made his blood run cold.
“No animals in the cafeteria!” Shrieked the ghost, hurling meat at an orange tabby. “Get out now or I’ll turn you into meatloaf.”
——————-
Klarion had been flying around for hours searching for his familiar and he had finally tracked her down to a school. Racing down the hall, dodging fleeing teenagers, he finally reached a set over double doors, flung them open and was shocked by the scene in front of him.
The black-haired teen, who had asked him out during his fight with Young Justice was standing on a pile of meat, holding his beloved familiar, and wielding what looked like a thermos that was sucking up a ghost wearing a hair net. A truly chaotic site to behold.
After capping the strange device, the interesting blue-eyed boy turns to the remaining occupants of the room and opened his mouth.
“I have only had Teekl for a day and a half, but if anything happened to her, I thermos everyone in this room, and then myself.”

there’s so much bullshit happening right now.
I’m avoiding twitter because there’s several things affecting my mental health going on there, and now tag spammer is active on tumblr again. It’s like everything is beating me when I’m down.
Twitter especially is a minefield. What’s happening in the US right now is sickening and I’m fearful for the safety of my friends and of even more human rights protections getting stripped back.
So many people deserved to die instead of Cazza. It’s not fucking fair. There’s so many shitty people of varying degrees of bad in the world and it really seems like these people have real life plot armor. I realize it’s often up to luck and also the result of class security but still. Reminds me of how I had the realization a while back that the reason why the older generations seem like overall less compassionate and kind people is because people who work harder are more likely to die sooner, and things like how much of our gay elders we lost to the AIDS crisis. Rich people who don’t have to struggle so hard in life, who don’t struggle to pay for medical and dental treatment, who don’t live through hardships, end up having on average longer life expectancies.
I’m thinking way too much about death and how so much of it just isn’t fair right now. There’s a misconception that death is some great equalizer but the truth is so many ways of dying early are avoidable if you have an advantage over your peers.
And then there’s my perfect puppy who was healthy and happy in every way except the cells in her lymphomatic system said “fuck you” for no goddamn reason and ended everything and ruined my life.
My triggers affect me way worse than they did before and there’s so many things that set me off now because they remind me of Cazza.
My roommate had me take Cazza’s tent out of the living room. I didn’t have the heart to disassemble it so it’s awkwardly plopped down on top of her bed. There’s no evidence of her in the rest of the house now.
He wants to go to the lake this weekend. I want to go to the lake with Cazza. One more time. I don’t want to go without her. But I also don’t want to be left alone. Fucking sucks.
To keep myself progressing I’m waiting for the cuddle clone to arrive and also seeking out other comforts. I want to collect her collar in all sizes that were available. Her collar’s design is a couple years old now so it’s not in the store anymore and it’s rarer online so I can’t just get the set immediately all in one go. I’ve gotta wait until they show up online. That gives me something to keep getting up for I guess.
Cazza was also cremated with Mr Pengin so I want to get another of him too which is also a rarer item. Dog toys/supplies are not ever seen as collector items so this happens. That’s why I feel so lucky that Will was able to get Cazza her magic rock in time for her to play with it.
I keep thinking about how I didn’t get the chance to have this year’s pride month photoshoot with Cazza. Last year’s photoshoot contained some of the best photos I ever got of her.
I went to our favourite pet store because I got to write Cazza’s name on a little paper paw after donating money to their local shelter charity and I wanted to take a photo of that. Not only did the people working yesterday and today help me find the pawprint but they took it down, put it in an envelope for me to keep, and put up a new one that says “in loving memory of Cazza Comet” and included with it a little chalkware dog. Fucking cried my eyes out. That was the store I got her food, the store with the lavender puppies, the store with her favourite crunchie, the store that has the puppy scoops ice cream, the store with the little kitten named Apricot that she got to meet, the store where I got her little heartbeat puppy and the store outside of which I broke my ankle. So death isn’t fair, and there’s all manner of horrible people in the world, but there’s genuinely good people who make this existence worth it too.
I get an envelope from Fishy, and it’s a fathers day card that says “You’re the best dog dad” which he sent to me the day they took Cazza. So I cried and cried and cried some more. I love my friends so much. Without you guys I’d just fucking turn in the towel and give up by now.
I wish the nightmares would stop but I’m used to nightmares and they’re my most prominent PTSD symptom just in general. Don’t wanna just say “I’m used to them” because that’s not really possible but I’ve come to expect them. I just wish I had positive dreams where Cazza visits me in them like some people I hear about when they lose loved ones.
I should be happy that covid is becoming enough of a non issue that I’m actually getting a referral for a surgery I’ve been waiting like, almost a decade for now, but getting pestered by my doctors office and by the referrals while grieving was miserable. There’s also the risk that my body just refuses to recover because of the whole will to live thing. it would make my life easier once it happens yeah, but I just don’t have much strength. At least I have a few months though maybe I’ll bounce back by then. It’s funny how I spent ages waiting and waiting for this damn surgery but my hope for the future is just sapped without Cazza. I’m sure once it’s over with the lessened discomfort and the slight improvement to my chronic pain will make things just a little easier for me though. There’s the very big possibility that it will be significantly improving my ability to sleep. That’s something.
I wish I could vent through art but I just don’t have the energy to try to draw. I’m really embracing maladaptive daydreaming though and sometimes that leads to me having the energy to draw so maybe.

Not to be morbid on main, but everyone dies and people are rarely prepared for it. It’s so much easier when you know your loved one’s wishes. So even if you’re a teenager or twenty-three and healthy, I hope this helps you start thinking about end-of-life wishes, because it can happen to us all (both the dying and, rudely, being died upon).
Cremations are an affordable way to subvert the funeral industry, but going this route puts the burden of “the little things” on the family. I’ve learned a lot in the last 36 hours and wanted to pass those things that weren’t on any checklists, because the burden is on you to navigate the process.
Putting this under a cut because it’s so long (although not comprehensive). Obviously some of this is altered because COVID and some is meant to be applicable in some distant, theoretical future when we can go out to lunch again.
Before you die
Think about it, talk about it, write it down
Think about what kind of rememberance you want, if any. If it doesn’t matter, tell people that so they don’t fret about it and grieve in whatever way works best for them.
Communicate now to save your family and friends angst later.
Build an “in case of death” binder, zip drive, google doc with links, etc. Make sure your passwords are up to date so that’s not an administrative nightmare for your loved ones.
Advanced directives. Here’s a great article explaining the types of medical advanced directives and decisions to make before an accident or illness happens, including whether you want to donate your organs.
We lost grandma for about twenty minutes yesteday because we couldn’t find the paperwork and grandpa couldn’t remember where they signed up for services. Death. Binder. Have a death binder/folder/zip drive so no one loses grandma.
Insurance.
You likely have insurance through work, so consider that. It will also expire if you leave your job.
You can usually get, with minimal fuss, a 10- or 20-year term policy with enough to cover your arrangements and debts for less than $20 a month. Death expenses are anywhere from $5-$20k, conservatively.
Talk to your auto insurance agent and score a multi-line discount.
Body snatchers.
If you want to be cremated, talk to a local crematory beforehand and give them your basic information. It can be paid out of your estate (i.e. by your family or a life insurance policy) when it happens.
Most funeral homes (I believe) require pre-payment. It’s super morbid but there are TONS of heavily discounted grave sites for sale on Craigslist if that’s the route you want to go.
Here’s a list of certified green burial sites in the US.
Donating your body to science 101.
Memorial service.
The idea of a “proper” funeral is more or less out the window, especially in the time of COVID. Celebration of life? Religious ceremony (or not)? A picnic at your favorite park? Anything goes, so figure it out now.
When my sister-in-law died, we had a celebration of life at a non-profit who donated the space and had a poker tournament with her ash tin (she lost).
Whether you have strong or no preferences, write that down to guide decision-making.
Memorials.
Traditionally people would donate money in the event of a death to a charity, foundation, or family account, or flowers to a funeral home or church.
Family accounts (like for children) are traditionally done in care of the deceased’s bank but online fundraisers are a thing.
If you have a particular charity you love, add this to your list of wishes.
Food.
Before COVID it was pretty typical for there to be some kind of meal after a funeral. Will this be a restaurant?
This is ultimately up to the family but if you have strong preferences (i.e. no church or Italian food), tell people now.
Obituary.
Writing down the basic facts of your life, hobbies, and accomplishments you want included in your obituary means your family doesn’t have to do a guessing game.
Plants, animals, stuff, etc.
Do you want your clothes to go to a specific charity?
Do you NOT want your stuff to go to a specific charity? (Goodwill is terrible!)
Who will get your car (person, donate, sell)? Want to have your record collection to go one sister? Obviously family will divvy up stuff how they like, but write down any special considerations.
Have a plan for your pets (insurance, vet info, guardianship).
Please organize and digitize your photos if they aren’t already.
If you lose someone close:
Identify the primary griever
Support that person/those people by providing feedback when solicited, running errands as needed, and running interference so they aren’t inundated with all the little things.
Notifying people
Use the phone tree method. Great Aunt M will be happy to help by calling your cousins. Your boss, coworkers and HR. Your mom’s best friend/your adoptive aunt, your mom’s bunco group.
Ask that family not put anything on social media until the principal people are informed. I found out my grandpa died on facebook!
Esp these days, set boundaries for visits (who, where, and in what capacity).
Designate one person to be the primary contact for extended family to keep the burden off the primary griever(s).
Give this persons’ information when the first phone calls are made. It also makes sense for this person to be the travel coordinator.
This person should have a good handle on family dynamics (i.e. my aunt is flying in and would drive my grandma nuts so she’s staying with Mom).
This should be their only task because it’s time consuming.
Food
When people die, people gather, even in the time of COVID. Be responsible but expect a ton of drop by food. Clean out the primary griever’s fridge in anticipaton.
Organization
Start a shared family Google doc or sheet. Consolidate to do lists, anecdotes, important contact information, questions and inquiries, etc.
Pay to have the houses of anyone hosting (gatherings, people coming in from out of town, etc.) cleaned. Or, delegate. This can be an act of service for someone who wants to help and doesn’t mind doing the work.
Find the death binder (hopefully), legal documentation, etc. Get a folder or binder for papers if one doesn’t exist. And start a shared google doc for loved ones to track everything.
Delegate
I know I have said this three times, but it’s important. If you’re a primary decision maker do not be the primary do-er. My mom is the primary decision maker so my sisters and I are doing literally everything else.
Say YES when people ask if they can help you. Look at your running list of to-dos and say yes.
Pay to have the houses of people who are hosting cleaned. It will seriously be such a life saver, or this can be an act of service for someone who wants to help.
Social media
You will need to decide what to do with a person’s social media. Do you start a tribute page? Turn their facebook (if they’re old) into a tribute page for a time? Indefinitely? Things to think about.
Thank yous
Keep a running list of people to thank after via hand-written thank you notes. The link includes guidelines on
who should receive a thank you note (gave flowers, brought food, made donations, helped with arrangements or the service(s), did readings, or went well out of their way to warm your heart or show up)
when to send them (ideally 2-3 weeks after the funeral)
here’s how to write them (it doesn’t matter if you buy fancy, ones or dollar store ones, make sure they’re hand written).
Receipts.
Don’t be the petty biatch your cousins hate, but do save significant receipts to be reimbursed by the estate. (I.e. catering hundreds of dollars of food, paying $250 for programs and thank-you cards like I just did, etc.)
Service.
You will have a million decisions to make including
what kind of service to hold, if any
where to hold it
costs
hymns, readings, and anecdotes to share
who will be pall bearers, readers, vocalists, and give eulogies
Crematories handle cremation only, not the service details.
you will need photo boards (Hobby Lobby has nice black foamcore ones) or a powerpoint (and a way to display it depending on the venue)
a guest or memorial book
a card basket,
memorial cards, possibly programs, and thank you cards
Officiants, musicians, religious institutions, etc. all need to be paid (and tipped) for their time.
If we ever wrangle this pandemic, donating funeral flowers to a nursing homes is a fantastic way to brighten residents’ days.
Obituary.
Obituaries are expected, but traditionally costly ($200-$800). As part of the publishing fee, most newspapers keep the obituary on legacy.com indefinitely.
A funeral home will assist you with this, but the burden will be on you and your loved ones if using other methods.
These take hours to write and many hands does not make light work. Keep it to 2-4 key people. Having the facts laid out will help, and so will looking at other obituaries. I read a great tip which was to write about your loved one in present tense first, then change the tense before submission.
Newspapers will update your spelling and grammar but that’s about it. Cheaper alternatives:
Death notice which gives age, date and location of death, and who is handling funeral arrangements. Our crematory put in the death notice for us because they had her body, but the requirements on this likely vary state-to-state.
Here is a place to put a free online obituary.
Plants, animals, stuff, etc.
Save the plants and pets.
Household misc. are usually not dictated by the will, except in special circumstances or contested items. Closest members will go through possessions first. Voice early if you want something in particular, but understand that you may not get it. That’s ok.
Going through someone’s life is an overwhelming process. You may be repulsed and sad and overwhelmed and amused, all at the same time.
In deciding what to keep, as I’ve now cleared out three houses, I’ve found that quality over quantity is the way to go. The sweet spot? 1-2 sentimental + useful things. My great grandmother’s thimble and juicer? Use them all the time, and I remember her lemonade.
It’s okay to throw away some keepsakes and let things get thrown out or donated, depending on the thing.
Don’t give into guilt if you don’t want the china your Aunt Karen is pressuring you into taking when she doesn’t want it either.
Legal stuff.
If someone dies, there will be all kinds of legal things you will need to do (bank accounts, utilities, debtors, education, etc.), investments or 401k, etc.
This varies too much by state and circumstance to talk about in depth but there are guides to specifically help you.
If someone you love has lost someone they love
Do not give platitudes or ask if they’re ok
Don’t expect a response from someone grieving
Do send a card! It’s so thoughtful. I keep a stack of blank condolence cards and a set of forever stamps in my closet. It doesn’t have to be a $20 card to be special.
Don’t judge someone by how they grieve
Offer specific, actionable help if you’re close enough to give it
I am going to come over and clean at 10, leave the house unlocked
I’m at the store and am going to buy cheap vodka unless you tell me what kind of wine you want
oops I got you an uber eats gift card in your gmail sorry/not sorry
Buy thank you cards with stamps as a condolence gift, depending on the person and situation
Send a plant instead of a bouquet of flowers
Make a donation in the loved one’s name if you have the funds
If the grieving person is someone super close (best friend, sister, etc.) add the date in your recurring calender so you can check up on them this day next year with a card and/or phone call

I said you wouldn’t hear from me while I am on ‘sabbatical’ in Virginia, but apparently, that isn’t true.
I came here to hike and work on our future home and write and read the stacks of books I brought with me; I didn’t come here to rescue animals. I planned to scrub and build and repair and plant, but instead, I find myself once again, up to my neck in rescuing animals.
The (insert expletive of your choice) man who lived here before us left us his cat. Plus the handful of feral cats he’d been feeding (and a bear that stops by in the mornings in search of whatever the cats didn’t eat).
There was nearly a month between when he moved out and we arrived. Contrary to what many people think, cats can’t always fend for themselves. At least not all of them, and not very well. We noticed a few cats on our previous visit but assumed they’d move along when their food source was gone. Worst case, I’d trap them and get them altered.
By the time we arrived for our extended time here, three of the four cats were mere skeletons. The tiny male orange cat was in the worst shape. All his bones protruded, he moved slowly and looked to be in a daze. His coat was rough and stained and you could see giant ticks hanging like a collection of jelly beans around his neck.
Tumblr media
The brown tabby cat who had looked fairly healthy the first time we saw her now looked at us with dull green eyes, scratched at the door, mewling pitifully. Her ears were torn, her coat neglected, her limp belly sagging on a bony frame.
I watched them for two days. I didn’t feed them – everyone said, “Don’t feed them, they’ll become dependent.”
We won’t be living here fulltime. We will come down as often as we can to continue to renovate the long-neglected cabin, but not often enough to feed these cats regularly. And eventually, we plan to rent the cabin to people and their dogs, so resident cats are truly not in the long-range plans.
But the cats were starving and dehydrated and probably anemic from fleas and ticks. I set out a bowl of water for Flannery on the porch and they flocked to it and drank it dry. There is a creek about a quarter-mile away, but the little stream that cuts through our property is dry this time of year.
I watched them for another day and then couldn’t bear it. “They’re starving to death,” I told Nick. “I can’t just watch.” My cat-allergic husband said nothing because he knows me.
I fed the cats. They couldn’t eat much at first. The little orange boy swatted at the food in frustration. He was too weak. So I went to the store and bought Capstar, a med that makes all the fleas and ticks fall right off – it doesn’t prevent them from coming back though, so I also bought Frontline. I shoved pills down the throats of the two cats who became our hesitant, jumpy friends. I can’t touch and rarely even see the other two.
The brown cat seems to be the mama of the two orange cats, who look like adolescents. We named her Molly Weasley (our cats are Harry Potter characters) and she began to fill out quickly and spends her days waiting at the door for us to let her in (which we don’t). She was obviously the (insert expletive of your choice) man’s former house cat. She and Flannery are bonding. She looks better already, and I will likely take her home with me.
The tiny orange boy kitty (Ian named him Fred Weasley) only looks marginally better. He’s moving better and leaped off the second story porch when Flannery sniffed him. Despite me shoving a pill down his throat the first time he let me touch him, he is hanging around. He seems to know we mean well.
The tiny orange girl kitty (Ginny Weasley) is keeping her distance. She comes to eat when we are not outside, but is still too frightened and we rarely see her.
The big gray tomcat is the only one who seems to be able to take care of himself. He is not starving like the others and only shows up on occasion, never climbs the post to the second story porch where the other cats eat. I don’t know that he’s a tom, I’ve just decided that he is. He doesn’t have a name yet because I haven’t seen him in a week.
I don’t want four cats. But something has to be done. I will only be here another week and a half.
I called the local animal control officer who told me that they ‘don’t deal with cats unless they’re injured’ which seemed an odd response. These cats look pretty injured to me, but he suggested I contact the Warren County Humane Society. So, I did.
And yes, they do have a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) program, but it’s out of money for the year, and also, they don’t accept strays. They could help me out with their ‘low-cost’ program ($90 per cat for spay plus rabies shot) if I come in and paid in advance and then brought the cats on the designated morning at 7 am and picked them up that night at 8pm.
But what then? I bring the cats back here and release them to starve to death?
There have been many times when I am asked—what about cats? Do you get involved in cat rescue? I always say, “I totally get that the cat crises eclipses the dog problem, but I can’t go there. Not yet.”
The way I see it is that we domesticated dogs and they cannot survive without us. Cats, on the other hand, have a few more resources.
But these four, at least three of them, well, they don’t seem to know how to use those resources.
And while I don’t want to be a cat rescuer, I don’t see that I have a choice here. I will bring Molly and maybe Fred home with me, but I don’t know what to do with Ginny or Tom. I bought traps and paid for two cats to be spayed/neutered and given their rabies. The assigned day was today.
Last night I set two traps, hoping to catch Fred and Ginny. The traps have been under the porch for two weeks, ziptied open, next to the post the cats climb to access the porch. Last night I cut the zipties and placed half a can of sardines in each and hoped for the best. I said goodnight to Molly on the porch and went to bed, hoping she wouldn’t be the cat I trapped.
I got up at 5:30, after a fitfull night dreaming of trapped cats (it was always Tom, so much so that I was certain he was in the trap when I got up). Flannery and I hurried out to check the traps. They were both empty, untriggered, but the sardines were gone.
Not knowing what else to do, I put Molly in my cat carrier and dropped her off at the Humane Society to be spayed. Remembering that I was told the money I paid was nonrefundable, I asked if I could transfer the money for today’s extra spay to the next spay day (a month from now when I will need to make a special trip down here) and try again to catch one of my cats and was told, “I’ll pass this along to the powers that be and we will see.”
I’ve decided not to get angry. Yet. But I have already begun to understand why so many people don’t bother to spay and neuter their pets (or their feral friends) when it is so terribly inconvenient and expensive. I am determined to fix these cats and while I don’t want to spend this much money to do it, I’ll find a way. But what about the person who struggles to pay their own bills? Or what about the person who has to get a ride to the Humane Society or has to work or doesn’t own a trap or a hard-sided carrier or care so much if their cat impregnates another cat? Certainly, it should be easier than this.
If anyone out there is in the market for a cat, let me know. I’d be happy to deliver one to you. If I could just catch one.

Marketing with Pride vs. Rainbow Washing: Marketing Lessons from Pride Month 2019
Tumblr media
50 years ago today, authorities robbed the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City's Greenwich Town community, and the Stonewall Riots began.
The momentum from the riots launched a huge civil liberties movement and a year later, on June 28th, 1970, thousands went back to march at the previous website of The Stonewall Inn. They marched to drive the improvement of LGBT rights and oppose the laws which caused the police raids and subsequent riots one year prior.
With time, this march changed into the Pride parades and events we have today.
As June comes to a close, I desired to assess the remarkable time I have actually had (and will have-- the Chicago Pride parade is this Sunday, June 30) at Pride events this year.
Tumblr media
" width=" 600 "design= "width: 600px; screen: block; margin: 0px auto;" > My friends and me before Chicago Pride Fest 2019 The end of Pride month likewise has me considering all
of the Pride-related marketing campaigns I've come across. All over you look there appears to be a rainbow-clad ad.
From bus stops to billboards, online ads to company logo designs on social profiles, there is no lack of color in business branding this month.
Image through BuzzFeed While I have loved seeing vibrant rainbows just about everywhere I turned recently, I am contrasted knowing lots of organizations aren't doing much beyond just flying the rainbow flag.
Commercialization is Not Support
This "assistance" is typically simply superficial; in an effort to be appropriate.
The thing is, while Pride month is absolutely a celebration, it's not all rainbows and shimmers.
The LGBTQ+ community still faces exemption and experiences discrimination at work, school, and typically in society.
The month of June is as much about commemorating how far we've come as it has to do with continuing the defend acceptance and equality.
Slapping a rainbow over a logo design and calling it a day is simply not doing enough-- and people notice.
In reality, commercializing this important month without backing it with real assistance and action, can turn away clients. They'll find your shallow show of assistance from a mile away.
" We're at a place where consumers and activists are going to hold brands responsible for walking the walk if they talk the talk," stated Jay Porter, president of Edelman, Chicago, in an interview with the Chicago Tribune.
What is Rainbow Washing?
According to Justice Namaste, Social Media Coordinator at WIRED, " Rainbow-washing allows people, governments, and corporations that do not do tangible work to support LGBTQ+ neighborhoods at any other time throughout the year to slap a rainbow on top of something in the month of June and call it allyship."
This lack of concrete support is regrettably present in numerous organizations.
Two in five business with Pride campaigns are contributing no earnings to LGBT [Q] + triggers in 2019, according to research by Reboot Online.
The study even revealed one in 10 LGBT+ people actively avoid purchasing Pride products because they think they are being exploited.
Conversely, some brands are returning 100% of their earnings from Pride-themed sales to companies like The Trevor Job and HRC. Amongst these are American Eagle, ASOS, Ralph Lauren. According to an
=" https://finance.yahoo.com/news/2-in-5-brands-with-pride-campaigns-not-donating-to-lgbt-causes-in-2019-230100499.html" > short article published by Yahoo Financing, while 84% of the LGBT+ neighborhood feels" favorably" about top quality Pride projects, nearly all (95%) individuals surveyed said companies require to do more to help LGBT+ triggers throughout the year, rather than simply during Pride month. How Brands Can" Stroll the Walk" During Pride Month What's
the difference between business who are marketing with pride and those who are merely rainbow cleaning? I recently asked members of our Facebook community, IMPACT Elite, and Anna Empey, Service
Owner and Expert at Business Influenced Solutions, shared her thoughts:" As a gay person, I enjoy when business take some time to examine their policies and practices during this month. Looking at
how they can continue to support the LGBTQ [+] community by seeing if there are things in location that need to be adjusted to make certain those staff members and customers are truly supported. I do my finest to look into the policies and practices in place that assist these communities before I work with any business." Prior to going all in on the rainbows, business need to take active steps to develop inclusive work environments and offer back to the LGBTQ + neighborhood. Clients and prospects
will be taking note of this. Excellent early morning! Pleased June to all brands launching a Pride campaign!! A tip: you will capitalize on our identities/marginalization for business gain!!! It is for that reason worth offering a 2nd thought to your minimal edition rainbow item!! Here, let me assist!!! pic.twitter.com/uNCuGamiBQ-- Fran Tirado( @fransquishco). June 1, 2019 Thankfully, the HRC has =" https://www.hrc.org/resources/lgbt-marketing-and-advertising-best-practices" > some suggestions and best practices for advertising and marketing throughout
pride month and beyond. They consist of doing good market research, being delicate to stereotypes, being consistent and positive, and more. In addition to the HRC's excellent suggestions, here are a few I believe all brands must consider. Be a Singing Ally Make it a point
to talk about supporting the LGBTQ +neighborhood.
Do not place on a Pride
tee shirt if you're not ready to have a discussion about what it implies to use one. Stand up for the queer workers at your organization if they're not around to defend themselves. Have Policies That Create an Inclusive and Safe Working Environment While being helpful is terrific, access to cost effective health care is even much better. Frequently, policies regarding health protection and parental
leave, are not totally inclusive of the queer community's needs. Look beyond your daily workplace life and be familiar with the much deeper difficulties those in the community face and how you can accommodate. Donate to LGBTQ+ Charities and Organizations While assistance and allyship are terrific, what numerous marginalized communities genuinely need is financial backing. If you want to do something for Pride month, put your loan where your mouth is and contribute to LGBTQ
+ companies to support LGBTQ+ youth( The Trevor Project), support the political defend equality( Human Rights Project
), or support regional LGBTQ+ owned businesses. This is especially essential if you're offering products or promoting discounts for Pride month particularly. Don't use the queer neighborhood for your own gain. Take the opportunity to return and support rather.
Note: You do not even have to offer a product to contribute a donation. You might host an internal fundraiser where your business matches what staff members contribute. You might likewise host an occasion inviting your customers or community. Kristin [last name eliminated for personal privacy], from our Facebook group IMPACT Elite, shared what her company does:" We commemorate all month with events, visitor speakers, and informative communications across the agency. Yesterday, we hosted drag queen bingo
for our staff members, with all earnings from bingo cards going to local LGBTQ resource and community centers." Be Inclusive and Representative in Your Marketing
Projects From shaving ads consisting of transgender guys to marketing campaigns that feature same-sex couples, there are lots of steps brand names can take to be more inclusive and representative in their promotional campaigns. Check out this
" > terrific resource for inclusive stock photography we're loving recently. Be Constant and Confident Among the Human Rights Project( HRC )pointers that's the most tough for organizations is being consistent and be confident. In their guide, they note how" customizing or withdrawing ads after unfavorable
criticism from conservative
groups suggests waffling and pushes away LGBTQ customers." Brands that take a position during Pride month ought to expect some reaction and negativeness from a part of their audience.
Be gotten ready forthis and talk about prepare for if/how your group will respond ahead of time. Excellent Examples of Brands Marketing with Pride One example of a brand really nailing their Pride month marketing is shaving brand name Harry's. They consisted of a transgender guy in an industrial with the voiced-over line" You can shave to feel like you." Plus, 100 %of the revenues from their Shave with Pride razor are contributed to The Trevor Job. Stacy Wood, Marketing Manager at Animal Food Experts shared:" We wrote a blog with ideas to celebrate with a downloadable sign for our customers to hang in their pet shops." In the short article, Pet Food Specialists recommends some terrific, actionable ways companies can support the LGBTQ+ neighborhood including: Develop your store as a service that welcomes LGBTQ +neighborhood members by. Contribute to an LGBTQ+ charity. Our good friends at HubSpot made an entire page on their website dedicated to how they're" Growing with Pride." Group members marched in the parade, took part in pride month events, and even developed a video sharing what growing with pride indicates to them. Christina Bockisch, HubSpot staff member and another member of our Elite community, shared a bit more about HubSpot's Pride month strategies:" I don't believe this will come as much of a surprise, however HubSpot truly goes for it to commemorate Pride Month- from the GAYtrium event we had today to over 200 HubSpotters and their loved ones walking in Boston Pride to different programs( like panels, instructional occasions, networking occasions, and so on) They've created a culture that's genuinely impressive. You can actuallyfeel the
love and assistance for the LGBTQ+ neighborhood this month. I suggest, you feel it all year long, but it's been even stronger these last couple of days-- and I do not see it decreasing anytime quickly. I truly like working for a business that commemorates Pride Month however also genuinely celebrates diversity, addition and belonging all year long. "These are simply 2 examples that stuck out to me from our community. There are numerous brand names out there, both B2B and B2C, who are doing a terrific task of marketing with
pride. Pride Month: A Lesson for All Online marketers You'll discover there's no rainbow throughout EFFECT's logo .... I feel totally comfy and totally accepted by my colleagues at EFFECT. I even started Pride month by doing a lunch-and-learn to teach the group some features of gender and sexuality, the history of Pride month, and typically misunderstood terms. However, while we're making huge strides in variety and inclusion, we still have a way to go before I 'd support making our logo design vibrant for the month. While it's exciting to see numerous companies welcoming inclusivity and pride, it
is essential to bear in mind that the rainbow logo itself is insufficient. Business require to really support their LGBTQ+
staff members, produce an inclusive environment, and provide back to the neighborhood. It benefits online marketers to remember that these principles extend beyond supporting the LGBTQ+ neighborhood and beyond just the month of June. When working to enhance variety and addition
at your company, you'll still want to apply much of the HRC's tips, make every effort to be genuine in your marketing products, and take real action to support marginalized communities. Let us understand what your organization is doing or share your preferred example with us in EFFECT Elite!.?.!!

For yoh 300+ in group chat..
You seek Alex to learn more
0% of yoh ask him to seek me for knowledge when he says he doesn't know nor care.
Why? Why have you done this to yourself and the world?
Why? I pay you millions of dollars and you don't have the ability to foresee if you ask him to seek me i would post here and help the entire world -- Zillions of people.
Why is this so? Why do you not have the ability to help?
Is it fear of the Alex? Fear of me?
Or you just trust me So much that you know it will work?
Remember others do not. And i do not know the questions you seek answers to until i asked.
So help me help them, if you don't understand they (the world) don't either.
Only 49% have made the correlation to human traffic Victims comfort and the Quarantine and Social Distancing.
I make it graphic, i make it so visibly disturbing that they remember and understand on a Depth level that the heart forces the mind to comply.
So seek me So i can help the world to understand. I need questions worded a certain way. Without complaints.
Oh and also all illegal aliens and evil people -- the 45% of the known population -- will now have access to their DNA4U immediately disconnected. And all money that was available will go to a charity introducing childhood chastity and for more gifts for our living and survivors.
In places where access to DNA4U is used to gain access to food and other commodities you will br jailed indefinitely.
Simple swab will reallow you into the system. So allow the officer to swab you.
.... ....
Amazon employees got credits of $300 each because i had a public fit degrading their characters. I degraded the character of each employee. For that i apologize whole heartedly with tears because i was in a panic. It was hours until my precious people were kidnapped. So please enjoy your credits to shop on smile.Amazon.com -- remember world shopping at smile.Amazon.com allows Amazon to donate money based off a percentage of your shopping price to the charity of your choice.
Using the app donates to: Thorn (9 years), Cancer Society of America which prevents cancer treatments with chemo and radiation and uses only necessary surgeries, Shoes for Kids Across America, Turtle Evaluation to keep record of my endangered sea turtles i love so much, Food Distributions for low income families and homeless.
They get 1% each of each sale made in the Amazon app. We take 5% of all sales then we put it in a pot. At the end of the month we take it and divide it by 5 then pay it out.
But at smile.Amazon.com you get to pick where your 5% goes directly to.
Amazon employees must use smile they are not allowed to purchase from the app. They must independently choose where their donations go.
When using credits up to 15% of their purchase prices will be donated. At least 7%
Susan Coleman gets 4% normally cause they send 1% to another charity so we also send another 1% to the Muscle Dystrophy of America. So they get 8% and Muscle Dystrophy of America ends up with 4%
Money does not heal all wounds so remember social distancing. Remember wealth is in your heart and not in your hands unless it is a good human body that you touch.
Susan Coleman is Susan B. Anthony so that is an exciting home school project! She made the United States of America's 13 colonies flag. And much more.
So she also designed your colonies flags when you rejoin the Union. Up to 6 choices. For some she made 10. Queen Elizabeth II don't worry about a seamstress for your honors. We in the Americas remembered to honor and love home.
So we will gift you a wall template of all 6 flags per home. Also the voted pick in multiple sizes. And your personal 2nd and 3rd votes in smaller sizes. 3x5 and then a hand waver for each pick. 2 of each for the most voted
You are colonies. May your flag wave proud from the privacy of your bedroom where you've named it a sovereign country as you are allowed to.
Your vote choices you are allowed 3 for your colony's flag. You will receive a velvet embroidered cloth flag -- velvet on both sides. The size of a Queen size bed.
Then you will receive a printed microfiber blanket that mimics velvet of the United States of America Flag and then your current local state you reside in.
for all other countries. Like Italy. Italy is broken into Provinces. You will receive 2 embroidered velvet blankets of your Flag of Italy, your Province reasoning explained On the verse side. Then you will gain long 84" sheer curtains with the Constitution of the United States legible printed on them and the Declaration of Independence.
The curtains are see through. It allows light and sight to expand in the explained mind.
Futhermore the print is dark dark the darkest of black that looks almost like you can put your hands through the curtains lettering.
The words live. They float in the breeze of the air. They enter your heart, your mind, your tummy filled with guts.
There is nothing hidden behind or in the words. You can clearly see that. The words are honest and good and what we live by via government standards.
Worldwide are curtains. Blankets also.
Alex and i love the dark in a bedroom so the blankets include a black linen fabric to protect the flags and the blankets have loops. They are discreet and blend in with the blanket in an acceptable style and fashion.
So you may like to hang them. Also you can hang on walls. And curtain hooks and so on are provided as well.
Picnics. We will have better land. So the grass will be super soft and kind to us like velvet. But if you like to claim your own space and have s more valid sense of cleanliness they would be great especially for movie in the park nights.
Keep in your car for emergencies where you don't have a coat and you end up stranded. Or you want to stay over to sleep impromptu. Because drinking or late night film watching.
Don't worry we put yours and the world favorite names on them and your soulmates too
Aleins Favorite is Cleopatra. So i have allowed that as well it will help us realize our miskates. How we were used and manipulated.
Alex's favorite is Jesus.
World Favorite... Bonnie and Clyde.
Human favorite is Echinacea.
My favorite is Sabrina Leigh Jennings-Telles... Oh and you know all the rest i do just love me to death.
Tree favorite is Super Echinacea Archive. The Sea. And Tree original names. And since we knew all the same things they called me that too. It is i crested them when we went to live underwater as mermaids. I had to leave wisdom and guidance behind. So that is their Official Name. And if you have something very serious or dear to you all trees will turn in and completely 100% focus on you and will not multi task. As they usually do. They will treat you different. Very very formal as if you rule the world. And you do. I often think each mind is it's own world.
So on either side of the blanket one side lists who the other what.
So
Favorite of:
Humans
Animals
Etc
The other side of the same verse of the blanket flag has a column of names that is the favorite. The "what" because you will ask "what made it their favorite?"
So animals also get flag blankets of their preferred material.
So for the names you fold the blanket length wise them open one colum side and you can easier see the matches there will be instructions included.
You will not have a family crest. You will have half a crest at the center bottom or top of some of each flag blanket. It will match to the soulmate you have. Fold one and lay it atop the other.
Also you'll have s shield for your bedroom or if family wants to design living room or hallway is the absolute best with the crest upon it.
Then in the school store you'll have it uploaded and you can buy crested gear.
So we sre bringing the Pride of the Medieval as we have survived all wars.
So surf the wars upon your couched and sofas and favorite comfy chairs... Remember ice cream time.
Savor the cow milk flavours in the future you MUST make it at home with human breast milk.
Enjoy it. Cheese should be expected also.
Next week we add Cheese to your Whine. Both are ordered to ring up cheaper world wide and kids may sip or drink sparkling cider. The white grape is alcohol free but taste JIST like wine.
Countries worldwide are in competition for lowest prices and will receive prizes. There is a minimum of $1 per item. Or one Euro. Wherever you live that translates into about $1 for some countries it's 25 cents and that is fine.
South America you'll have the same fine free. Complying to be happy is your competition.
We have happiness meters on our cruise ships believe it or not. We have big Care Bear meter in all dining halls. Because the sky is scary to some so. We can turn it off if necessary.
The sky btw is recorded live with a 3 second feed lag time. So you will actually see what is outside your ship. The Windows also. So you won't miss a thing. Even when you're laying in bed. Rooms tho are a projection t.v. not all screens. So it's not crystal clear perfect like the dining halls. Unless your room is absolutely dark aside from the projector.
So many features come with that also. Like the bed can pretend to be a kayak and you pretend to row and it actually takes you to,real life where you row in real time.
It will automatically record and save to the DBR if you are in contact with sea life. Its a pretty amazing feature. It puts you and your boat outside and so it merges the reality of what occurred. You can talk to the sea life with esp. And even pet them with your soul metaphysical and they will see you in,their mind the reality of where you are. Its amazing.
So you will, get saved what they saw and what you saw and then a merge so it's like you was out on the water for reals.
They can even take you under water to see their homes.
Its one of the most blessed contraptions I've ever made. So,much love and amazement was poured into it.
There's rules and you could get banned. But I don't think anyone would really except a wild child and they would have a therapy conscious meeting with tree to see if the ban was necessary
Like some whales will say "hit me and we will go" but when you hit its a soft gentle pat. Even if you try to wham them. So if you're whacking every sea creature you see that is not correct behavior and you must listen to each animal to see how they went to be treated.
Dolphins and some whales will jist throw you on their back and take control of your whole day.
Turtles will ask you "now would you like to go see...." "Do you want to go with me now to..."
And you must ask to pet them. "May i touch you?"
Turtles hide their soft skin in their shell. They act afraid like an abused victim.
So ships with abused victims from violence will spend a lot of time in turtle areas. Because they will feel most comfortable. They will have the understanding.
Hyper activate children that aren't gentle will also be there.
First with the shark bait undertool swamp mate. Very similar to the blue whale. He will say to touch him.
Then the transfer information to the turtle well, the turtle Didjt say? What do i do?
Hopeful the child then thinks for itself and thinks oh i should ask!
If a turtle offers a shell, ride he will give rules about touching his body.
So this is per room. It will be real animals and you mind teleport there. Using technology to help clear it in your minds.
Because of the Zulululu and Orbits we have severe damage. To,what we can see, this will heal us
I have extreme damage. Alex has none. 92% of all world population. 32% of outdoor land has damage.
My total damage is 34% but it feels like 100 sometimes
Alex says it looks like it
But when he's being good with me he will say "you're seeing the visual wrong but yoh understand"
It's good enough to rule the world.
Again i have to experience so i can heal others. Or see.
In the future i will only have to window look like I used to.
But too much damage was occurring and how ?
So for the last 58 years Alex and I have gone through every social disorder imaginable that aliens created and gave to my precious humans.
So when i say i will kill on your behalf its Because i have experienced the Hell you have. Not licked it. Ate it and died from it. I have.
Survive and Fight for my own dignity i will. I stand for you my loved ones. My humans whom have no ideas they are special.

Save the Chimps
Save the Chimps
Ft. Pierce, Florida
“Save the Chimps is the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuary.”
During the travels through Florida one of the places I stopped was in Vero Beach at my friends Jeff and Mindy’s house.  We had met on a vacation in Mexico several years ago through mutual friends and have kept in touch with each other since.  When planning this trip I wanted to stop in for a visit when I went through their area so the dates were set and had a wonderful stay with them.
One of the things that were talked about was they volunteer for “Save the Chimps” organization in Ft. Pierce close to their home.  Jeff and Mindy go every week helping out with many things that are needed to carry on this worthwhile effort.  I was intrigued to find out a little more after hearing them talk about the organization and what some of the things they do.
The original chimpanzees were used by the Air Force at the start of the Mercury Space Program using them for testing prior to human experiments in the early days of space exploration as the United States was trying to keep up and beat the Russians with putting a satellite or man in space.  Those chimps and their decedents were rescued to have a safe, healthy, and natural home.
From the Save the Chimps website:
“As the U.S. Air Force’s announcement that it was getting out of the chimpanzee research business, Save the Chimps, Inc. was established in 1997 by their late founder Carole Noon, Ph.D.  Most of the Air Force chimpanzees, who were survivors and descendants of chimpanzees captured from the wild for the space program, were sent to the Coulston Foundation in Alamogordo, NM, a biomedical research lab with multiple violations of the Animal Welfare Act.  In response, Save the Chimps sued the Air Force on behalf of the chimpanzees and gained permanent custody of 21 chimps.

A generous donation by Jon Stryker of the Arcus Foundation enabled Save the Chimps to purchase 190 acres in Fort Pierce, Florida.  A three-acre island, complete with hills and climbing structures as well as a hurricane-proof chimp house, was constructed for the chimpanzees.  Not long after the Air Force chimpanzees arrived, seven other chimpanzees from the pet and entertainment industries were also rescued.  With more chimps in need, Dr. Noon expected that Save the Chimps would slowly grow.  But an unexpected event rapidly expanded the scope of Save the Chimps overnight.
In 2002, the Coulston Foundation was on the verge of bankruptcy.  Dr. Frederick Coulston contacted Save the Chimps and offered to sell the laboratory land and buildings, and donate 266 chimpanzees.  Save the Chimps received an unprecedented grant of $3.7 million from the Arcus Foundation to purchase the laboratory.  Additional funding from the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida, Doris Day Animal League, Friends of Washoe, In Defense of Animals, New England Anti-Vivisection Society, and others made this the single largest rescue effort ever on behalf of captive chimpanzees.  On September 16, 2002, Save the Chimps took over the Coulston Foundation, becoming the world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuary.
Dr. Noon and her staff modified the stark lab into a healthier and happier environment for the chimpanzees.  Chimpanzees that had lived alone or in very small groups for decades now had the opportunity to become part of large chimpanzee families.  At the same time, an enormous construction project commenced in Florida to build eleven more islands and houses: a city for 300 chimpanzees.

The rescue of these chimpanzees transitioned into the “Great Chimpanzee Migration,” Save the Chimps’ nine-year effort to relocate the chimpanzees from the former lab to their island homes in sunny Florida.  A custom trailer was made to transport ten chimpanzees at a time to the sanctuary in Florida.  On December 14, 2011, the Great Chimpanzee Migration ended and the final group of Coulston chimps was released onto their new island home.
Sadly, Dr. Noon passed away on May 2, 2009 and did not live to see the completion of the Great Chimpanzee Migration. Her vision and life’s work are carried on by a devoted team dedicated to continuing her legacy. Save the Chimps will continue to rescue and provide lifetime care to chimpanzees used in research laboratories, entertainment, and the pet trade until there are no more chimpanzees in need.” (Information from www.savethechimps.org)

The day we arrived, that morning they had gone to local grocery stores to get food items in the chimps diet that were about to be thrown out and wasted.  Several stores in the area are set up to donate food that is dated or considered “spoilage” as stock is rotated to keep fresh items on the shelf.  Making the donations to Save the Chimps helps all parties giving needed food or other items to the organization and keeps those items from being wasted or thrown away.

They were headed across the State to the Tampa/St. Petersburg area later that week to an event setting up a booth to help with awareness of the animals and fund raise to carry on the work.  Most of the chimps live on several islands (13) in small groups and Jeff said that when the chimps are housed the volunteers go out on the islands doing maintenance or grounds keeping work ensuring the chimps have a clean, safe place to live.  There is no direct contact with the animals but many know and recognize the workers and volunteers.
If you are interested in helping out or making a donation to this non-profit organization, Save the Chimps, you can contact them through their website: www.savethechimps.org  I am sure they could use your help!
Traveling Life’s Highways brings us down many paths and roads in our lives; this one was a great unexpected find.  Jeff and Mindy, it was great seeing you again, until our next adventure together . . . keep up this excellent work!

Cocker Spaniel Fundraiser is Rousing Success + Giveaway
We came, we saw, we shook our wigglebutts, we raised money for homeless Cocker Spaniels. This is Wigglebutts Wonderland, and this is what the fundraising arm of Fidose of Reality is all about.
On September 10, 2017, 40 people and close to 30 dogs came together at one of the only pet-friendly amusement parks in the USA, Knoebels Amusement Resort, to raise funds and awareness for San Diego Spaniel Rescue. This is no ordinary fundraiser, and this is the inside scoop on what went down and how you can win a swag bag of your very own!
This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure policy for details.

Who Are Wigglebutt Warriors?
Wigglebutt Warriors® is the fundraising arm of Fidose of Reality. We’ve raised over $62,000 for homeless dogs to assist with medical, food, and basic needs until they find their forever homes. We are not a 501(c)3 but we raise money for 501(c)3 dog rescue groups in the United States. Founders, Carol and Darlene Bryant, along with their Cocker Spaniel, Dexter, are crusading to save dogs’ lives… with your help. We are two women on a mission, doing this from the heart because, as our trademark saying goes, “My Heart Beats Dog®!!!” We have done four in-person galas/events and online fundraising events, with more to come!
Why Do We Fundraise and For Whom?
If every person did one thing to help dogs in need, imagine how amazing this world would be. This year, we selected San Diego Spaniel Rescue in San Diego, California. We selected this group because of a wonderful lady named Naomi Lukaszewski. Naomi and her hubby have fostered close to 90 Cocker Spaniels until they could find their forever loving homes. She is an amazing woman, and although we have never met, she inspires me. Wigglebutt Warriors fosters a 501c3 and this time, the funds raised will go to San Diego Spaniel Rescue. We name Naomi Lukaszewski as the Wigglebutt Warrior of the Year 2017.
In Her Own Words
Naomi tells us “I am wife to a man who is amazingly patient with my quirks (like offering to transport and house 3 dogs for a day, forgetting we already had 3 dogs at home.), the proud mother of a beautiful daughter and a Kindergarten teacher in San Diego CA. I volunteer for San Diego Spaniel Rescue and have been fostering dogs for them since 2009. I have also learned how to groom Cocker Spaniels and groom all the fosters when needed. Well-groomed dogs are more appealing and therefore, more likely to get adopted. It also allows the rescue to save money on grooming and use those funds for medical costs. Fostering has not only educated me about dogs (Cockers are really Kindergartners with four legs and fur) but about people as well. “
In response to be selected Wigglebutt Warrior of the Year for doing so much in the name of dog, Naomi says, “My father was always about doing things because it’s the right thing to do, not for reward. I love fostering for the “warm fuzzies” I get watching people fall in love with their new furbabies. I feel that working with dog rescue is special but I don’t feel that what I do is any more special than any of my other colleagues in rescue. I mean, no one is asking me to do a reality show called “Cockers and Kindergartners” instead of “Pitbulls and Parolees”. Then I get blown away because someone I have come to admire and respect tells me that I deserve recognition. You made me feel special. I can’t thank you enough.”
We thank YOU and your family, Naomi, for opening your hearts and homes to Cockers in need.

Players take turns removing one block at a time from a tower constructed of 54 blocks. Each block removed is then placed on top of the tower, creating a progressively taller and unstable structure.

A First Look at Snooze an AM Eatery at Town & Country Village
Post from HankOnFood.com Leave a comment/read the entire post here
Breakfast, Breaky, petit dejune, whatever you call it, it is often touted as the most important meal of the day. And while food is fuel, it is fuel whose consumption should be enjoyed and the fuel should be of good quality. Houston has no shortage of fast food places, diners, and brunch spots of both the chain and the local variety. However, very recently a Mountain West Chain by the name of Snooze: An AM Eateryopened a location in the Montrose area where it was welcomed by the locals. This past Father's day weekend, their second location opened in Town & Country Village, just a hop, skip and a jump away from my Westchase hood. During the 3 day soft opening that ran from Saturday June 17th through Monday June 19th, Snooze raised money for 3 different local charities that accomplish different kinds of good all over. But then again, this culture of service is part of what makes Snooze who they are. It only takes a Moment to Make a Difference Founded by brothers Jon and Adam Schlegel, Snooze was born on April 2, 2006 in Denver, Colorado seeking to evolve the A.M. dining experience through culinary innovation, an eclectic and energetic atmosphere and comfortable and friendly service. Breakfast marks the beginning of a new day. At Snooze, we believe life is for living and each person and each day is worth celebrating. Our mantra: it only takes a moment to make a difference. From the day we were born, our people – Snoozers – have led the way serving creative twists on America’s favorite breakfast classics in a casual, friendly and vibrant atmosphere. The passion of our Snoozers is contagious. Over the past 8+ years it has inspired Snooze fans of all ages across the country. We embrace our roots in the Denver Ballpark neighborhood and aspire to be an integral part of every community in which we’re lucky to live. At Snooze, we’re connected by a common desire to be part of something bigger than ourselves. We believe we’re all one, big family – Snoozers, partners, guests, neighbors, planet – and we strive to be a part of the communities where we live. One percent of sales from each Snooze makes its way back into the local community through the donation of in-kind goods (A.K.A. pancakes!) and services. You’ll see us passing out pancakes, maintaining school gardens, volunteering at food banks and cleaning up beaches. We’re focused on supporting local causes and issues related to the neighborhoods where we live and organizations focused on education and sustainability. At Snooze we believe that it only takes a moment to make a difference. If you are holding an event or auction please visit your nearest Snooze and introduce yourself to a manager. Tell us about your cause, organization, clean-up or pet rescue and we will do our best to help! We love using pancakes to help good people raise money and awareness for causes that are near and dear to the communities in which we live. We invite you to join us, make up a new pancake and dance to the music. Wake up to the potential of your day. Wake up to Snooze!Milk Pitcher and Can Coffee, Espresso and Creamer cupsSounds like a Philosophy worth embracing. On this Father's day, we packed up and headed to Town & Country Village, ready to try what was in store for us. The menu is a nice mix of breakfast/brunch/lunch standards, many of which have a cool twist on them. They also ENCOURAGE your customization to anything on the menu, rather than be grouchy about it. A Breakfast Pot Pie--something I never heard of before--is on the menu. Pineapple Upside down pancakes? Done and done. Want a shot of espresso in your coffee? No problemo. And their Texas menu includes breakfast tacos, a breakfast burrito and Huevos Rancheros as well. On Father's Day they also had a bunch of funny, sticky fake moustaches for the kiddos and the ladies to put on just to get into the spirit of things too! On this particular day, the family ordered a couple of plates of pancakes (chocolate chip for Jason and Pineapple upside down for Helena). The chocolate chip pancakes were full of semi-sweet, melty chocolate chips throughout the short stack of two large, almost 1 cm thick and very fluffy pancakes. Diners can tell that real eggs and butter are used in this cooking due to the slight yellowish tint of the batter and the rich flavour and fluffy texture therein. Jason, despite being a typically hungry almost 13 year old boy, could only finish one pancake. The pineapple upside down pancakes look like typical griddle cakes, until you turn them over and find a nice, sweet layer of pineapple compote. There was also an essence of coconut in there somewhere, evoking the structure and flavour profile of grandma's pineapple upside down cake. I will also add the pancakes were served with warm maple syrup, which proved unnecessary given the sweet fruit/chocolate goodness included in both stacks. Grades: A and A+ The adults ordered: Juan’s Breakfast Tacos (Three fresh corn or flour tortillas topped with scrambled eggs, shredded hash browns, jack cheese, green chile hollandaise & pico de gallo--with an inside tip: better yet with veggie/meat toppings). I went with bacon topping on mine because (sorry Bad Piggies), like garlic Bacon don't need a reason! The eggs, potatoes, cheese and meat were properly cooked--nothing cold nor runny. The corn tortillas were a little crumbly and though I ate the tacos with a knife and a fork, they were still delicious: spicy, cheesy, and the green chile hollandaise sauce is superb. Next time, I will ask them to either double up on the corn tortillas so they hold together better or will ask for flour tortillas instead. The Snooze Classic (three Farm fresh cage free eggs cooked any style and your choice of ham, bacon, sausage, chorizo, pulled pork, chicken sausage or soyrizo. Includes hash browns, choice of toast). On this we went with 3 poached eggs, that were done perfectly on medium (solid whites, oozy but not runny yolk) and with chorizo. I was expecting chorizo debris, but this was formed into a nice round patty much like traditional breakfast sausage. However, one taste and you knew it was chorizo. While we went with wheat toast this time, next time may do an English Muffin instead. Grades: A and A respectively. I would be remiss if I did not mention the charity they were working for on June 18th: Project C.U.R.E. Project C.U.R.E. identifies, solicits, collects, sorts and distributes medical supplies and services according to the imperative needs of the world. Project C.U.R.E. (Commission on Urgent Relief and Equipment) was founded in 1987 by James Jackson, who was working as an international economic consultant in developing countries when his work put him face to face with the needs of the sick and dying. During a trip to Brazil, Dr. Jackson visited a small clinic near Rio de Janeiro, where he learned that patients were often turned away due to a lack of basic medical supplies. Jackson was moved to action, making a promise to the clinic doctor that he would help provide relief to the people there. Dr. Jackson returned to his home in Evergreen, Colorado, and with the assistance of friends in the medical industry collected $250,000 of medical supplies in his garage in just 30 days time. By personally paying the shipping expenses, Jackson was able to send an ocean-going cargo container carrying the donated supplies to Brazil. In 1997 James Jackson's son, Dr. Douglas Jackson, became President & CEO of Project C.U.R.E.. From its humble beginnings in Colorado, Project C.U.R.E. has expanded to many other cities across the United States. Currently, Project C.U.R.E. maintains large distribution warehouses in Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. In addition, Project C.U.R.E. has established smaller collection centers several other states where donated items are gathered and then delivered to its warehouses. Project C.U.R.E. now collects medical donations in many U.S. cities. Project C.U.R.E. has been an industry leader in developing new ways to allow the organization to provide the highest quality donated medical supplies and equipment possible to resource-limited communities across the globe, including efficient and accurate inventory systems, supply chain management, expert management of logistics and strong in-country relationships. Project C.U.R.E. also offers numerous domestic and international volunteer opportunities. Since its founding, Project C.U.R.E. has reached patients, families and children in 130 countries. Their Houston office is located off of Kempwood Drive, less than 10 minutes from Snooze Town & Country. My son Jason has helped pack supplies for them with the Wesley Academy National Junior Honor Society and it is a very helpful organization. Snooze Town & Country is located at: 600 West Sam Houston Pkwy N #500 Houston, TX 77024 713-470-4586 Hours: 7 Days a Week 6:30am - 2:30pm I want to thank the Staff and Management at Snooze for a great Father's Day breakfast and for the help they are offering Project C.U.R.E. Eat Happy, Y'all!!! 吃得开心!!! Hank
