You’re worrying me Nippon Icchi!

((There’s no denying that I have a huge fondness for Nippon Icchi Software, namely for its hit series, Disgaea. I’ve been a fan of them for a long time now.

Heck, I just recently started playing Liar Princess and the Blind Prince. It’s a charming little puzzle game with animation style that I believe to be Tim Burton-esque or at least it reminds me of don’t starve.

I’m also interested in the game Jim Sterling played before. You know, the one with all the jewels in it. What was it called again? Anyways, I have posted before about my concerns I had for the company around the time they announced Disgaea 6. And now that time has passed, things are shifting from just concerning to downright scary.

As some of you may know, NIS released a trailer for Disgaea 4 Complete+. Yeah, looks like Disgaea 4 is getting a Switch port.

I feel bad for all the Disgaea 3 fans out there since at least us Disgaea 2 fanatics have a PC port to go with. That being said, that’s not my only problem with it. First of all, I’m not even sure what the whole “+” thing is about anyway.

And it’s not like I can go to the trailer to really find out since the trailer itself is just the Disgaea 4 intro with words edited into it. No gameplay that showcases any extra features, nothing. Like with the Disgaea 1 Complete port, I’m not against the idea of anyone just wanted to get the game so they can play it on a different console, especially if they don’t have access to other consoles the game may be available on, but I personally don’t really see much of a reason to get it for myself since I have the Vita port and I’m not sure what’s going to be different between the two. Are there going to be some extra story, more unlockable characters that weren’t available before? According to my brother, there’s just going to be some extra functionality to work with to give players a better experience, but until I know exactly what that is, I’m not sold on this myself. Next I’ll talk about the reason that my brother told me what he believes might be the case for this port.

Apparently, NIS has been having financial troubles lately and this game might help make things more stable for them. Funny enough, I think that’s the same reason someone else told me for when Atlus released...you know,

THAT. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but one could argue that Atlus had the better idea since while it is kinda milking off a popular franchise, they are dipping their toes into a different genre and trying to broaden the audience with a different experience, whereas with the Disgaea 4 port might be limited down to like I said, anyone that couldn’t already play the game before, but were interested or those who really REALLY like Disgaea 4.

Kinda like who someone might love Skyrim to the point where they’re buying at least one copy of the game for every system it’s available on!

Now this worries me because of two reasons.

First, I still want my Disgaea 2 sequel! I was so excited when NIS announced that if Disgaea D2 did well, they would do the same for other Disgaea titles, and I feel that Disgaea 2 is the most deserving of the series to have one (with 3 being a close second now just so it can get some attention). Unfortunately at this rate, the chances of it ever happening are growing slimmer and slimmer and that sucks! I really want to see Adell finally learning about his parents and possibly the Netherworld they came from as well as what happened with Hanako, Yukimaru, Tink, and others! There’s so much potential with continuing off from Disgaea 2′s standpoint that it frustrates me seeing how unlikely it may ever happen now.

Second, from the looks of things, NIS might be going down the same route as Atlus. Despite still being able to continue making games, they may have to sell the company in order to keep things afloat at some point.

While I do find it possibly awesome and ironic if they end up being bought out by either Nintendo or Sega (especially Sega at that). I do keep in mind that some other company might be interested in getting them as well.

Imagine if they were bought out by a company like EA. That’ll spell disaster for everyone! Next thing you know, they’ll announce a new Soul Nomad or La Pucelle game being released for mobile phones with lootboxes shoved up its ass!

Not to mention the possibility of no one buying them out in which case they’ll soon be shut down for good, and this is one of those companies where I really hope that doesn’t happen to. NIS may not have a flawless track record, but it’s a company I do support. Well, hopefully things aren’t set in stone yet. They may just be on a path going downhill, but there may still be a chance for them to bounce back. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see how things go.

ISSEI: We’d have brought our own if you just told us.

EICHI: Yeah. I heard that they knew each other from his former unit.

ICHIRU: Experience aside, Eichi can smile when he’s told to.

ICHIRU: Eichi and Shu… You’ve known each other for a long time now, right?

EICHI: Ah… I guess so.

EICHI: I think it’s been around 2-3 years now? Wait, was it longer?

SHU: I wonder.

EICHI: Let’s see… The first time I saw you I was still doing a part-time job as a college student so…

ICHIRU: Hmm~

EICHI: What? Icchi, is something wrong?

ICHIRU: Nothing. I just thought about how close you are. That’s all.

STAFF: Great work today.

2017 - Music/Band Review

Just like in the past years! Check out the ups and downs of my music-year 2017!

Type of music I’ve listened to the most: Balanced but I found a couple of rather “crazy” bands like Mamireta, 0.1g, tensai., ...

New discovery of the year: Hm... Maybe kizu. And the ones mentioned above but I need to find out more about them first ûu”

Band of the year: Vexent and Purple Stone

Song of the year: Poison Chocolate - Purple Stone to place -orchestra version- - ASTARIA

Spent the most money on: Until last year I could clearly say “Royz” but this year I think I barely bought stuff from them. But maybe it was still them, when I was in Japan... Because in general I didn’t spend too much money on one single band in 2017.

Band I went to the most lives: I saw a couple of bands but none twice this year. Ah wait, I did!! I saw ZigZag at two lives on one day xD

Band I went in saizen for the most: No saizen this year... I almost went in saizen for Royz but I didn’t know anything about their new songs, so I didn’t go in the end even though there was a free spot xD”“ In the end, the girls in saizen didn’t know the furi either, so.. I could have gone xD”

Band I went to instores the most: Smileberry.... xD”“ It was the last month with my favorite members Paru and Yuna and I really just wanted to see them again because.. yuna wanted to retire and paru didn’t really say anything but who knows. So I went to two instores with four 2-shot tickets.

Best vk-moment: Seeing Purple Stone live again. And the moment Sora announced his comeback xDD I went crazy over that...

Best CD I bought: Kazami’s Piano Collection Vexent’s VICTIM

Saddest disbanding: After last year.. after ALIVE, FoLLoW, DIV and girugamesh.. this year couldn’t top that. And I’m happy about it. This year’s disbandings really didn’t hit me as hard as last year’s at all. MeteoroiD was probably the saddest disbanding for me this year but rather on a personal basis because I liked MeteoroiD and went to a couple of lives and a really funny instore in 2015. They belonged to the few close bands I had left from my year in Japan. Also, ASTARIA. I didn’t hate ASTARIA but I also wasn’t a super big fan. Their lives were fun though and I really liked Black Klaxon, so.. seeing them go is sad. Even if officially it’s only a hiatus... Rey was the one who said that they will wait for Yuduki getting better to give one last live. So, it basically is disbanding... Oh, and Black Klaxon was the first instore I ever went to... Ah! And I’m in one of ASTARIA’s PVs...... xDD So, I pick MeteoroiD and ASTARIA but it still didn’t hit me super hard.

Saddest retirement: Hmm... Since there weren’t too many sad disbandings for me, also sad retirements aren’t a lot. If I have to pick one, it’s probably Smileberry’s Yuna but Yuna has at least his bar and still tweets a lot. (edit: since he officially is a host now.. I’m a bit disappointed...) Paru isn’t in a band anymore and I’d love to see him back but he also didn’t officially say he retired, so... (ALIVE-members still aren’t back -.-)

Band I wish I had spent more attention to: ARCHEMI.! I’m a lot into their music but didn’t really spend attention to the members yet! xD”

Best comeback (band): lolita23q?? I was really happy about that but...... in the end I didn’t really pay that much attention on them after their comeback?? oops..

Best comeback (member): ALIVE’s Sora! ALIVE’s Sora! ALIVE’s Sora! ALIVE’s Sora! ALIVE’s Sora! And also: Oshare Chisa is back! (and icchi, the liar.)

All of the sudden became fan of: Omg kizu Lime’s voice maybe?? xDDDD Unpopular opinion ahead: I think Lime’s voice goes way better with kizu’s music than with Lezard’s.

Most fangirled over: Purple Stone’s Keiya? Maybe? Or Vexent’s Levi? Or maybe still ALIVE’s Rulu...

All in all: All in all... it wasn’t a super amazing vk year but it also wasn’t bad! It just feels like... hm.. even though there are still bands I really like and support and never want to disband but at least at the 2nd half of 2017 none really blew me away. But I still don’t complain ^^ I didn’t have many sad-2017-band-moments, so it wasn’t a bad year ^^ I did see many of the bands live that I like ^^
