okay so, first change that spirals everything out of control is when Link and Zelda get attacked by ganoncorpse. At that point, Zelda had casually handed off Rauru's secret stone to Link to hold, so it is now in his possession. He still tries to protect her and gets his sword broken and his arm fucked up. but when the castle rises from the ground, he's the one that falls. Zelda tries to jump in after him and uses her time power to send him back without realizing it. she gets caught by Rauru's arm and gets sent to the great sky island to start her quest.

Link wakes up in the past, his arm had to be amputated there's no magical replacement. Rauru and Sonia had found him passed out and dying from the gloom attack and knew it to be Ganondorf's doing so they took him in no questions asked. But they also noticed the secret stone (an item that only they possessed at the time) in his possession (I'm thinking it attached itself to one of his hair tails through some kind of cuff or other type of decoration, it also turned that champion/ luminous stone blue when he touched it)

So he's clearly very confused and just wants to go back to Zelda to make sure that she's okay (she's also doing the whole song and dance of trying to find Link, this time ganoncorpse is using him as the puppet to string her along).

before i get to the stuff im not sure about I'm going to explain what Link's secret stone amplifies, I mean he doesn't have any magic power like the sages or Zelda, right? WRONG! THIS IS WHERE I GET TO FUCK AROUND! NECROMANCER LINK IS BACK BABY! I'M GIVING HIM A GHOST ARM AND THE CHAMPIONS CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO HIS SPIRIT THROUGH TIME! either that or he gets some facet of time power from his flurry rush ability and he could still be the sage of time but idk how that would work amplified, would he just be able to slow time whenever he wanted? idk the ghosts sound cooler and I want to give him a ghost arm that he has to learn how to manifest and use while he's in the past because I think it would be cool and not just some magic fix to losing his arm.

Now because Link doesn't have the light power in order to restore the master sword, I realized that the sword would still exist in the past, since no matter when you think the founding of Hyrule happened, the master sword existed before that. So he goes on a quest to find it, but he has to build his strength first (idk if the shrines exist at this point or if he just has to endure light magic treatment from Rauru lol), I do think Zelda would have fun with them though so he'll probably get to hang out with his in-laws for a while.

(this could also be fixed by Rauru becoming the light dragon to heal the old master sword, but he would have to do that before the final battle and idk how that would work, Sonia is the one with the goddess blood so maybe she would be able to do it, so maybe when Ganondorf tries to assassinate her, Link is able to save her with some funky death shit and she could become the light dragon after Rauru seals himself and ganondorf away. I also want Link to be a dragon to get back to the present and it would look real cool but again, idk how it would all work or if the reasoning makes any sense at all)

that last part was me just brainstorming lol but if any of those ideas interests anyone I can turn it into the canon of this au that I won't be able to do much with lol

Hello!

Can you help me brainstorm a nickname for Link in the Rito language?

Im aware they don't have an in-canon language (at least I don't think so), but the comic/fic that i'm working on kinda needs it? It's not too important but I really, really wanna have Revali call Link something that means "Forever love" or "eternal love" in Rito and trying to play it off as normal. I mean, this dude waited 100 years for this guy and, in the fic I'm writing, still loves him.

So far, I have "Ai neie" which is inspired/played off of/made from "eien no ai" which is along the lines of "love forever" in Japanese (according to Google translate). It seems too close to Hawaiian sounding though and it's derived from another language that I don't speak or know much about. I don't wanna be disrespectful or cross any lines I wasn't aware existed.

Any ideas?

(also, if you'd like, I could tag you in the post and give credit if you do come up with something/respond to this. Apologies in advance if I end up unable to make it or smth)

I think that's super epic that you're making rito words and stuff based off of existing languages!! That's super neat. I've been like "it sounds like bird noises but structured like a sentence. Idk. Figure it out lol"

However unfortunately I am your typical lame white american who can really only speak english... So I dont really know MUCH about this kinda thing or about boundaries for this. But I do have...a thought or two? And the capability of googling.

Firstly! Because the Rito are based heavily on Andean culture, I figured probably looking into indigenous languages of that area is fair...though it's not as easy to look into like Japanese kinda is. VERY LIMITED RESOURCES ON THIS LEMME TELL YOU WHAT

The first one I looked into is Quechua, which is technically a language family ?

"Kyuaki" is the romantic way to say "I love you", and "khuyay" and/or "khuya" is love....? Allegedly. "Sonqo" is heart.

Then there's Aymara, which is primarily spoken in the Bolivian Andes. "Munsmawa" is "i love you" . "Lluqu" is heart...

ALTERNATIVELY, love in Cherokee (Tsalgi) is "adageyudi", and heart is "udanvdo". In Lakota Sioux, "Cantécikiya" means "my heart is inspired by you"; Canté meaning "heart" (Allegedly)

THIS IS ALL TO SAY! I DUNNO! LOL! I'M JUST SOME IDIOT TRYING TO GOOGLE SHIT DESPERATELY.

But, if it were me...I would try (keyword: try) to use Andean languages or maybe Native American ones to base Rito words off of, as I feel they fit the bill with Rito more than any other languages...since those cultures is where the inspiration comes from. BUTT (hah) that is just me.

Maybe while you do it, you can look at other words in the language to kind of like...get a feel for what the language sounds and looks like, and use that as inspiration for making your own word? Or switching up one of the ones above. If that makes any sense...lol I use this sorta method but like with clothes while designing rito so. Maybe this only makes sense to me? Gah?

anywaaaaaay here are euiin’s links -- profile, pre-amji bg, acceptance. everything you need to know about him is pretty much all in there but below the cut i’ll try and give a tldr, some facts, and plots too so you get to know bb inin.

bio

parents are really famous musicians thats why they really well off. father is a world-renowned pianist and composer, mother is a great singer like really.

thrown into the music world as soon as he’s born pretty much. childhood revolved around music. he took formal music lessons when he was 3 then was already playing the piano really well at the age of 5.

was homeschooled from the very start, amji is his first legit trad school.

he was locked up at home, he couldn’t go outside and play. his life was only school and music. the chances that he was able to go out were only for his parent’s event. he hated those because they only brought him pretty much to show of their perfect child to the world.

the first time ever euiin was punished with the whip was when his parents werent at home and he snuck out of the house to go to the park. he was able to meet someone there and played (possible relationship??) when he got home however he didn’t expect his parents to be home so early so was punished.

so the punishment: he has to kneel down on mung beans and carry heavy books on each hand, while being whipped (think of the whips of sister jude from ahs asylum like that).

eventually it became the usual form of punishment for euiin, every time he disappointed his, made mistakes (even on school work, every mistake was one whip). totally brings new meaning to whip into shape. ayyee

anyway that’s why euiin has lots of scars all over his body, mostly focused on hidden areas like his chest, back, bum, and thighs.

he eventually has a chance to leave and that’s through amji. his parents hear of the school from elite friends and since they didn’t want to lose to them they make euiin apply so they can brag about how their son goes to this elite school etc. really he was just something for his parents to brag about thats it.

euiin manages to pass the entrance exam and being one of the highest scorers of the batch he was able to get a full scholarship. (was asked by his parents to request it, not for financial purposes but just for bragging rights) that’s how yo boi gets into amji ayyyee /dab dab dab

facts

has braces -- most important loljk

so euiin is really smart lowkey genius but he doesnt even know it (was never really praised by his parents so that never really crossed his mind also no competition since homeschooled). he is that classmate of yours that doesn’t need to exert so much effort in studying and yet be able to get the best scores, he still studies really hard though because force of habit. it was through his early music lessons euiin was gifted with amazing brainpower.

also plays other instruments, guitar and violin.

does photog coz that’s the only thing his parents ever allowed him to do aside from music and school. (he really had to beg them though) has his polaroid camera with him at all times in his bag, occasionally brings his dslr usually for psic and photog class because it heavy.

cant play football for his life but is in football team because it was the best option. he was scared to do fencing, didnt want to display his body full of scars in swim team, so there he is in football no idea how to even kick the ball. he feels bad for his time tbh sorry blu team, itskay he’ll understand if he on the benches every game.

is in psic but totally scaredy cat his curious and adventurous self made him do it.

has a weird collection of polaroid photos. since he couldnt go out before amji all his subjects where either himself (hands, feet, face, etc.) or photos captured from the window (creep alert loljk).

hates beans, u know y.

loves to be loved because he never got any :(

cant sleep well because overthinks a lot specially when he’s just about to go to sleep.

really sweet voice here’s a snippet.

plot ideas

1. youre the friend he met at age 10 when he snuck out. that was the first and last they ever meet each other until recognizing into each other at amji. SHOOkt - winnie but also everythings awkward because they never met again after being bffs in the park.

2. since their parents attend a lot of event you could’ve seen him there once or even frequently but never really bothered until you see him at amji??? (havent thought about this too much we can brainstorm on this)

3. you scare the beejeezzusss out of him when he’s alone trying to take photos for psic.

4. he’s sent on the field to play doesn’t know what to do gets balled in the face and sent to infirmary for a nosebleed, you’re apparently the one to be told to take him there.

5. you catch him playing the piano and/or singing in one of the music rooms, he gets shy but u make him continue playing.

6. he always changes last in the locker rooms so no one sees his scars but unfortunately you’re there just in time to see his body littered of scars. you bring try to bring it up he tries to avoid the subject but he’s obviously triggered. may or may not include crying euiin.

7. you guys go out to hang in hwajang village ayeeee maybe party party and end up with drunk baby euiin because low alc tolerance.

since i want to write some lore at some point im going to toss some musings under a cut, because i’ve been creatively blocked recently and i’m hoping maybe brainstorming will wake up some art in me

the bottom line of what i wanna do with my lore is write something styled after faery legends. i call them clan unseelie though i want to come up with something a little better maybe??? its kind of a place holder right now

so with that basic concept you have a court of dragons living under a burial hill in the tangled wood (since hollow hills were one of the places faeries were said to live in) and there’s a mad tunnel complex linking the main area of the hill to other surrounding regions, and only dragons who’ve been there a while know how to properly navigate to get from one place to another. the upside is that members of the clan know all the secret entrances and can kinda “disappear” into the tunnels, seemingly into thin air, since there’s illusion magic hiding all the (known) entrances. the downside is that new dragons can get lost, and outsiders can discover entrances that were previously unknown to the clan.

im not sure of an overarching story yet but i can say right now that the main thing the clan does is chill in the great hall and attempt to entertain themselves with whatever they can. they throw totally sweet parties on the regular and sometimes dragons get drawn in by the sound of music from under the earth, finding themselves in a great hall with a feast and dancing and everyone’s kind of beautiful but strange. all the dragons are a little Weird and Off but in a way that can’t be placed. outsiders can be welcomed into the clan for a night of partying but if someone wants to stay with the court they have to beat the matriarch elia in a game. any ol game, as long as it’s fair. it can be anything from a board game to a coin toss to solving riddles etc etc... and everybody watches the game bc those moments are like the highlights of the night. thats the good shit. especially when the inquiring dragon loses and the whole crowd goes “ooooooooh”

ive been on and off thinking of making my recent splurge of abyss-ranged dragons a subset of the clan, like maybe shade-touched??? im not quite sure but i want them to all have won their way into the clan in the same way and they always stick together in groups and they’re always just sort of watching quietly and the rest of the clan is secretly creeped out because what the fuck are these guys planning, what is going on with them. idk i think they’d make good “villains” but im not sure exactly what they might try to do thats villainous because i imagine my clan as chaotic neutral first and foremost. they do what they want for a laugh and to keep things vaguely together, otherwise sod off. so really the most villanous thing i could think of for my alternate faction would be trying to depose the matriarch and i dont have any other plot ideas beyond that. idk this is just rambles

so um...one of my friends unfortunately has no access to mental health resources professionalwise, and im not sure how to help them because im in no way liscensed and theyre v suicidal a lot and im always worried about them. idk what to do -spook

Hi love, thanks for messaging us!

I want to start off by saying that your friend is very lucky to have someone like you in their life. You obviously care about them a lot. The fact that you’re messaging us on advice on how to help someone makes you an awesome, amazing friend. Friends like you can be hard to come by

Now, how can you help your friend? When it comes to someone you care about being depressed and suicidal, it can all seem super overwhelming and hopeless. But there are things you can do and try to help your friend get through this difficult time.

One of the worst things you can do is not say anything at all. Just the simple act of asking if your friends wants to talk about how their feeling will show that you care. And that means everything in the world, trust me. Tell your friend that you love them and care about them and want to help them. Be honest and tell them that you’re not quite sure what to say or do to help, but that you want to help.

Sometimes actions speak louder than words. Sometimes there is nothing you can say that will make things better, but simply being supportive can make all the difference in the world. A lot of people feel the need to say something in order to feel helpful, but sometimes the act of listening is more effective than any words could ever be. Just the simple fact that you are even there to talk to them and support them matters more than you realize.

The best thing you can do is encourage them to get help herself, whether that be professional help or even simply telling a family member how their feeling (both would be best!). Keep in mind that sometimes people need to hear things over and over again before they start to sink in. You might have to literally beg them to get help, which I know can be frustrating, but please don’t give up! Encourage them to talk to other people about what’s going on, especially an adult or professional. Maybe go with them to the school counselor, or even go with them to a doctor, for moral and emotional support? (I’m not sure if you live near them or not).

I would say something like, “I love you, and I’m worried about you. It would mean a lot to me if you saw a doctor or professional. I’ll even go with you. Please, I care about you so much and I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you.”

Now I know you mentioned that this friend doesn’t have any access to mental health resources... is that because they can’t afford it, or is there something else preventing them from getting professional help? If it’s because they can’t afford it, maybe you could organize a fundraiser to raise some money for your friend, like a bake sale. Or maybe you can start selling your artwork on Etsy for some extra cash to help them out if you’re an artist, or help them brainstorm ideas they can get extra money themselves.

Here are some links which give suggestions on what to do if you can’t afford health insurance / therapy / medication. Maybe you can show these to your friend and they can help them in some way?

Do you have any mutual friends that can help you convince this friend to get help? There’s strength in numbers, and if they are hearing it from multiple people, it might sink in more! Please don’t try to support them on your own. That’s too much for one person to deal with by themselves. You’ll be much more successful in helping them if you have other people on your side helping you!

With that being said, please don’t hesitate to get their family involved if you are afraid they are an immediate risk for hurting herself. They’re probably going to be very mad at first, but it’s so important that their family knows what is going on so they can help keep them safe and get them the help they needs! It’s better to have them alive and mad than dead. So if you’ve tried everything possible to get them to get help and they refuses, and they’re in danger of hurting herself, I’d contact their family.

Another thing that you could try is helping them come up with what I call an “escape plan.” Think about it this way: every business has a fire escape plan, right? They figure out what is the best exit in a fire and the best way to get there. They even practice it a few times with fire drills. They do all of this before there is ever a fire, because if they waited until there was a fire, there would be mass chaos and people would get injured. It’s the same with suicidal thoughts. You have to have a plan before you find yourself in that crisis. So maybe you can help them come up with an escape plan. Brainstorm some things they can do if they have the urge to act on his thoughts. Make a list of activities they can do to distract himself, people they can call, or places they can go. Have them keep this list somewhere so that they can take it out in an emergency and go through the things one by one. Keep a copy of the list with you so that you can help them go through the list if need be. You could also help them make a list of reasons not to hurt / kill themselves, or reasons they should keep living. Either you can help them come up with one, or you can write one for them. If you help them come up with one, have them write down all the people they care about, their dreams and goals, their favorite things, their hobbies, places they want to visit, things they want to do, their favorite music, concerts they want to attend, etc. You could find some ideas here: http://tswatch.tumblr.com/reasons

One of the most helpful techniques for helping someone overcome depression / protecting someone from themselves is to get them out of the house. If you stay in the house alone in your room, you’re more likely to stay stuck in your depressive rut. So maybe part of their plan can be to come to your house when their feeling down, or for you to go over there and watch a movie, or for them to meet you at a park to go for a walk, or something like that! That way you can physically be there with their to help keep them safe. Again, this only really applies if you live near them or not.

There’s also a lot of great resources on the internet that have good ideas on how to help someone struggling with mental illness / depression / suicidal thoughts. The more research and reading you do, the better you can help you friend!
