yes to coming full circle with ilai and fatou! even though i wish we had more family time overall this season, i really do appreciate this sibling dynamic, especially when it comes to academics; where feeling inadequate compared to your sibling is addressed; where each sibling is struggling in their own way; how even university can feel overwhelming to a high achiever because all of a sudden you are surrounded by people who are just as smart, if not smarter or more accomplished than you are; and that’s a lot to navigate and process. that especially can be the case for minority students in university.

but at the end of the day, ultimately these two want the best for each other. ilai can appear to some as being a bit overbearing in earlier clips/texts, but to me, that’s his type A personality shining through in trying to help his sibling the best way he knows how. and yes to fatou speaking explicitly on dyscalculia and getting tested. 

these parallel tracks of fatou and ilai showing how important it is to confide in someone who gets you and loves you unconditionally. and also highlights the best qualities in you that you overlook yourself.

the way i can relate to fatou so much academically. got told several times abt how i was so good and advanced in my english subjects but when it comes to my maths i was so ...meh. not to mention the fact that i seem to be the only one from my siblings who's pretty shit at math. so i know exactly how it feels to be nitpicked within my own family

i was so glad when ilai reaffirmed fatou of her strengths academically bc that's exacly what she needs rn. for someone to tell her that it's okay to recognize your weaknesses, but she shouldn't dwell upon it too much. and then encouraging her to take the dyscalculia test bc there are ways to figure this out without leaving things open-ended.
