(Hermitphibia)
It just occurred to me that if the lockout were to effect anything for Doc, it would be The Hivemind, which, based on what he has said it is IRL, would in-story be something like a telepathic or electrical network connecting technical players for purposes of requesting and giving help on problems, possibly hosted by Scicraft. One would only really open their connection to it when they need aid with a project or have free time to give it.
All this to say that if it were included in the story, no one would question Doc being "offline" for months, save for sporadic, seemingly accidental, moments (occasions he's around a flash of Calamity activation) until he actually sends an SOS (durring True Colors after Gem has stabilized him buy when Anne's activation is about to end)
It's already been established that Amphibia is far off from known interdimensional 'space,' so by the time help arrives the space battle with the moon may well already be underway.
The Hivemind is absolutely a Scicraft invention. A sort of mixed telepathic & digital network that directly connects the senses of multiple players, basically piggybacking extra levels of input on top of whatever other communication channels players have access to.
Doc's keyed into it via a chip in his cybernetics.
But because Hivemind members being sporadic is a given, nobody bats an eyelid at Doc's radio silence for a very long time. Even the Scicrafters - while mildly concerned - don't think much of it at the start. It's not the first time Doc's taken leave, after all.
But then several months go by, & the reports come in that nobody has heard from any the Hermits, lately. Not the Scicrafters, not the Emperors, not the Noxcrew, nor Martyn, Skizz or anyone else in the periphery.
They've gone dark, not responding to casual messages, MCC invites or anything else.
The Hivemind pings Doc directly when they learn this, but their own message comes back at them as if its been bounced, not even having reached its destination.
They can't talk to Doc, & Doc probably can't talk to them, either.
Despite a concerted, collaborative effort between the Hivemind & other groups - involving collating a lot of information (this group push is organized & led by Scott & Martyn, who know basically everyone in the local player circles between them) to open lines of contact, as well as chart the Hermithius' last known course - a brick wall is hit.
In another, disant part of the multiverse, in a suddenly flying castle - maybe a few weeks after that dead end - Doc is brought to his senses by Gem.
And for the first time since arriving in Amphibia - as Anne stands like a blue inferno in front of the group, only just coming to her senses due to Stress' countering her "bloodlust" - he feels his severed connection to the Hivemind manage to pierce whatever was blocking it.
Before now, its flickered occasionally during high stress moments, but this the first time he's had a clear signal.
He has no idea how long this will last - only seconds, as it turns out - & doesn't have time yet to make the connection to Anne's outburst.
All he knows is he has to take the chance.
On the other side of the omnicosmos, in a depressingly lit meeting room hastily set aside on MCC Island, Scott Smajor nearly screams as Ilmango shouts in shock & falls out of his chair.
The signal is brief, but its there: A comm signature matching Doc's uplink chip, attached to a half-uploaded data dump containing more than half of Doc's recorded experiences from the last few months - including the last week before True Colors in full detail - alongside a partially corrupted record of the Hermithius' intended flight path...
...And a single word message: "Help."
The link cuts mid-transmission, before anyone has a chance to formulate a response.
Efforts to recover the Hermits aren't just renewed, they're supercharged as the Hivemind & their allies recognize the threat the Hermits are trying to hold back. All that data is more than enough to begin working out where this 'Amphibia' actually is & send support.
That sort of work takes time, though, & no-one is sure whether they'll be able to get to Amphibia in time... or if it'll be too late.
(At the earliest, the 'Alliance to Help the Hermits' arrives after the Invasion to turn the tide with the Moon, & at the latest they'll arrive after everything, like TFC. They have to work out where Amphibia is - off the path as it is - then the best way to get there, then whatever tools & weapons they need to fight Andrias, then how to bypass the lockout.)

Sometimes self-care looks like building a 115,000 xp / 12,500 gold nugget per hour zombie piglin gold farm on the nether roof with an autosorting/autosmelting storage system feeding a ground level collection point that's right next to a portal leading to an overworld trading hall stacked with clerics.
This morning I'm improving the autosorter/autosmelter and adding in filters for chicken and feathers because I've had two baby zombie chicken jockeys make it all the way to the mob grinder and since feathers don't smelt my whole system got clogged up with gold swords.
I'm also going to embiggen the smelting capacity. There are a ton of gold swords dropped and since they don't stack you're faced with needing to get them smelted into gold nuggets as fast as possible to preserve storage space since nuggets stack.
The project after that? Lava farm to feed this thing's smelters.
