Also remembering that I get to write wolfwood next chapter and I'm a widdle nervous bc this is a Big Moment and I only wrote him a little bit with Sentido and it's been 8 months since then

But im also REALLY excited bc I get to finally (FINALLY) start executing the vashwood concepts I'd thought up at the damned START of this fic

So much relationship development to get to. So much Wolfwood to get to. Very exciting things.

#speculation nation #itnl shit #ive got a pretty solid grasp on wolfwood I Think but also #i think i wanna do some more research into him before i write hin #im gonna need to read more of the manga Anyways.#i need to study his mannerisms and speech patterns and the ways he interacts with the world #because i have a good idea of it already but a lot of my concept of him does exist in fanon #because it's been A Bit since ive actually read the manga.#and i never want to base my writing off of fanon. never ever ever. that's fatal writing error number One.#i pride myself on my rock solid characterizations. for side characters it doesnt matter as much #but the 2nd person in the main pairing? ostensibly the 2nd most important character to the fic?#yeah im not gonna fuckin base him off of what i have in my mind from however much fanfiction.#it's like the difference between accuracy and precision. by following fanon characterizations #someone might be able to be Precise about his characterization. in that they write him consistently and according to common perception.#but fanon very often exists Just to the left of what canon actually is. so it may be precise but not accurate #at least with regard to canon characterizations.#i want my characterization to be both precise And accurate. i want people to read my fic and go 'yeah thats trimax wolfwood'#with vash i do sprinkle in a few of my favorite things from the other versions too. same with the girls.#and maybe i'll do that a bit with wolfwood. but also hes so very different between the 3 iterations #that he might as well be different characters in all of them.#this is first and foremost a trimax fic. so i WILL have trimax wolfwood in it.#i may look up general guides for writing him if theyre around. but tbh i will rely more on my own research probably.#i have my own system for writing anyways. the sliding scales of different qualities that guides my general word choices for dialog #ive explained it before. dont really wanna get into it again.#i need to solidify in my mind where ww exists on the axes of intelligence politeness kindness and formality #among others. while also paying attention for any kind of repeat words or phrases that he likes to use #that i can pepper in to make it Sound Like Him.#thats the key to how i do general dialog lol. it's of course guided by who they are as a person #but word choice is done through the general perception of them along a set of axes. this is how it goes for All my writing.#im. rambling. whoops. anyways im excited for wolfwood. ive only got like 10 episodes left until descent throws up and dies

#i need to watch it to write the lorewaiter au but also i struggle really hard with 2 part episodes #in all likelihood im gonna have to go back through and watch it 2 or 3 times and take notes on the timeline #and do the same thing with brothers and datalore because brothers also happens during this au and datalore will be heavily referenced #im also probably gonna need to watch all the trek movies and maybe picard bc i think they give some more soong lore?? but those i can...#...probably save for after ive written a decent chunk bc its less important and i can just edit stuff if i need to #also i think theres some episodes with pakleds in ds9 maybe? i might have to watch that too #eughh i hate doing research but whatever it needs to be accurate #no one will care if its not i just have very large amounts of anxiety about being wrong ever #and if theres any weirdness i could probably easily lie and say im changing it to fit my au better bc i can do that #but eughhh itll still bother me yk #trek adventures with van #writing adventures with van #(kinda)#random

#i learned about the false memory foundation yesterday (triggering website for survivors) and now am questioning the ISSTD #and learned how one of the people who worked on ToSD abused his patient... (otto van de hart)#now im very unsure of everything ive been learning about ToSD and want to shut down. yeah. <3 #this was all spurred by me trying to find out more about the updates to the theory of structural dissociation:/#i didnt know one of the main writers of the haunted self (a book i reference quite a bit) abused his patient like that #i didnt know about the whole satanic panic ordeal #theres so much bad info #i wish researchers and therapists in this field were trustworthy to people with dissociative/trauma disorders #ive always been skeptical. bc it is so easy to abuse someone with memory problems who is easily suggestible #yesterday i saw this theory that did/osdd is iatrogenic....... that yes they have a disorder but therapists supposedly push this onto us #idk man i dont know how i feelllllllllll #i dont think dissociative disorders are iatrogenic but I do think its possible maybe some of the symptoms are is that bad?#its an idea i am juggling in my head even if it makes me very uncomfortable #information overload :( im gonna stop reading about this sfuff for a while i think

#bellum x linebeck tag ramblings im not making this an actual post i just wanna throw some ideas around bc its still abstract n all that #cuz its not like. just romantic? like im not gonna sit down and treat it like some conventional relationship tho sometimes it is #like i sit down and not a single au/bit of post ph are they actually just. dating. they generally just have Something going on #like in ph. off the bat. i think when linebeck learns about bellum he starts to research him- checks libraries and personal collections #and hounding oshus and the spirits and trying to scrape together every little bit lf information he can find #at first its to quell his fear and maybe find tips he can pass on to link but once he digs deeper he just starts doing it out of curiosity #so theres just a mutual. they really want to know more about each other- linebeck doesnt just stop at researching bellum as an enemy #and bellum doesnt just stop at ‘researching’ linebeck as an enemy and someone to take advantage of #before they meet they have already gone a little farther than necessary into finding info on each other so they. have that mutual interest #and neither of them are too familiar with that i mean linebeck gets link but hes just used to limiting what people know about him #and bellum is used to just being a demonic enemy in need of eradicating (justified tho) whose other traits have been lost to time #like i imagine that long long ago bellum was worshipped as a like. god of war deity of survival against the odds that sort of thing #but the more positive aspects were left to languish when he decided to take the easy and simple way out and towards power and survival #but thats Bellum Lore that i need to add to That Post bc i don think its on there lmao #ok but. specifically in the crimson king au. theres this whole thing bellum eats people he has linebeck bring back limbs and stuff for him #but like some nights they make dinner i (linebeck is. not going to eat human meat. probably)#and while bellum prepares whatever dead guy linebeck brings him linebeck usually brings over a fresh squid #i feel like there’s something there. in other aus bellum ends up being intensely protective of linebeck due to them being reliant on each #other and bellum has known linebeck for a while. in some hes just like. his boss? the space au one is fun thats a fun dynamic #space au is probably the current au where theres the least romantic w/e between them but its still weird #anyways. but like in post ph its that sort of curiosity about each other that drives them to be kind to each other and. civil #theres some recognition they kind of see themselves in each other they understand how they think to a certain degree #bellum is possessive (heh. heheh) of linebeck very quickly partially to be able to keep. well. studying him and eventually bc of liking him #like on a level bellum is kind of just this violent animal that linebeck studies and finds ways to sustain and take care of but bellum #also knows linebeck incredibly intimately so while empathy is generally not there he can talk about very personal stuff to bellum and.#and vice versa a bit! its weird. like bellum has done heinous shit but linebeck kinda just. cares about the present and the future #it kinda ties into my idea that linebeck would rather not touch the past much like he keeps it in mind but moves forward no matter what #so he keeps his eyes forward with bellum and while initially distrustful and keeping him on a short leash just like. gives him some grace #this might be tag limit but like. yknow? im getting there but i might stick to just being loose with it bc it works #salty talks

Hey I'm just curious where the info about nile crocodiles possibly going extinct due to the bombings came from because I can't find that information anywhere or even evidence that nile crocodiles live or lived anywhere near the area

Good question! I found a couple articles that talks about it. It seems the Nile croc USED to exist there and no longer does (because of Britain, not Israel). So they have just completely left that area, and have been gone since the 1930's. Still misinformation on my end, I'm sorry.

Another amendment: I put that in my post because I had just seen a Tumblr post about the last croc being mourned by Palestinians, and with everything going on, I thought it was related to the genocide. It wasn't. It was recent art about an event that happened a long time ago. Here's the Reddit version of that post as well.

I should have done more research beforehand. I was frustrated and just reciting information I'd reblogged onto my blog. The crocodile thing was actually what pushed me to make that post in the first place, so that is 100% on me. (And yes, even that post said "1930s", so I don't really have an excuse on that one besides I was tired and frustrated, but yeah. I still am, but y'know.)

I would like to note that both my sources are from the same person. Bentley appears to be an expert on the topic, and also the only one talking about it. Her essays keep being re-used on different websites over and over again, so it looks like I'm not the only one who can't find any other sources. But her work is well-written, and definitely worth a read.

I'm gonna be more diligent about this going forward.

this shit sounds hilarious when i verbalize it so i might as well see if it transfers to text: i have TERRIBLE anxiety in relation to most interpersonal relationships, even longstanding ones like family. i can't text i can't call i can't talk first. this extends to a desire for what i'd like to call "socio-political overawareness" wherein instead of actually synthesizing information into anything even moderately important with my fucking needle head's worth of free time, i just. keep reading shit.

paper after pdf after paper and i can recite the information, yeah, but i can't DO shit with it. so i just get kicked into this gear of anxiety (that truly is my own fault) where i think i'll never know anything, i'll hover in this state of non-awareness and i'll never be able to help anyone like that.

it comes from an internal responsibility to take advantage of how much informaition is avaliable, but sadly i just lack the time to really dive into print resources in depth and this is SUCH a first-world problem, so to speak, so know it's really a non-issue like "ohh i can't understand world politcs fast enough oughh i don't understand historical tragedy :(" but also it just. upsets me.
