Younger icemav headcanons
older icemav headcanons here
Another timeline before i get into it ✌️ they met at top gun obvi and hooked up after the layton rescue, mav went back to top gun (for 3 months) but still kept in touch with ice, mav finally confessed years later it was like 1995-2000, they went through a bit of a rough patch after that but they did make up and started their relationship, mav became a test pilot in 2006 and ice stopped flying around then too
-Ice has a tramp stamp, this one is not up for debate this is real val kilmer told me, he got it in like 1984 but imagine that sexy old man with a tramp stamp hello
-mav thinks the tramp stamp is really hot but he does make fun of it
-the biting thing ice did in the locker room awakened something in mav, that was when he realized just how much he wanted ice
-one time when mav got deployed for like a year ice didnt bleach his hair and let his natural colour (medium to light brown) grow out and when mav came back he was so shocked, he dyed his hair again years later but they both agreed ices natural hair suited him more now
-mav drinks instant coffee and ice hates it
-Ice smells like coconut, this ones kinda canon cause of the shaving cream or whatever in his locker. He has coconut shampoo and conditioner too he takes such good care of his hair and forced mav to do the same, he figured out mass hair type and picked the perfect shampoo and conditioner for him
-mav was the one who confessed, he couldn’t take just hooking up and being that weird line between friendship and relationship anymore he needed to tell ice how he felt, ice was terrified but he did want to be with mav and he told him that, mav didn’t understand immediately, they got in an argument about it and after slider came and talked to mav, he overheard most of it and he knew how much ice liked (loved) mav so he had to do something. He had watched their whole relationship and listened to ice go on and on about mav for years and didn’t want it to end just because ice couldn’t talk about something. He knew it probably wasn’t his place to tell mav about ices past but if ice hadn’t told mav by now he probably never would, mav was stubborn and it did take about a month to really rebuild what they had but they agreed to give an actual relationship a try
-before carole died she told ice she hopped there would be a day they could get married, she was one of the few people who knew about their relationship and really wanted the best for them, ice never told mav she said that until their wedding day
-they look after bradley all the time, they pick him up from school, take him out for ice cream, take him to the beach and he loves it, one day when they were picking him up from school he told his friend that his dad and pops were here and ice and mav almost cried right there
-they share clothes, mav steals ices shirts and sweaters and theyre too big for him but he loves it cause it feels like a hug and smells like ice, ice also wears mavs shirts and theyre way too small on him theyre so tight but that doesnt stop him and it shows off his muscles so
-mav loves being called cute or pretty, hes so used to people just calling him hot or sexy (which he is) but the first time ice called him cute he blushed so hard
Nsfw under the cut
Nsfw
-they’ll fuck anywhere, usually its when they’re both drunk and horny and looking for a place to do it but it happens when theyre sober too
-mav is the one who gets fucked, he tried fucking ice once or twice but neither of them really liked it, mav takes control sometimes but its rare, ice likes being in charge especially in the bedroom
-ice loves to edge mav, he always wants to see how far he can go and loves to hear mav beg
-he also loves to overstimulate mav
-mav definitely has a think for ranks (so does ice but hes less likely to admit it), mav calls ice admiral in bed and they roleplay, every time ice goes up a rank mav makes such a big deal over it
-ice loves to make mav watch, he’ll fuck him in front of mirrors and hold his head so he cant look away or he’ll tie mavs hands behind his back on a chair then lay on the bed and get himself off, he knows mav loves it just as much as he does
-he also likes to make mav get off by himself, he’ll make him rub on his thigh or finger himself, this is usually a little reward after he’s been a brat all day because he doesn’t deserves ices dick but he does deserve to come
-ice loves when mav wears panties, he’ll wear them all day and sometimes he’ll show ice in the morning so every time they see each other throughout the day ice knows or he’ll keep it a secret until ice undresses him
-mav also loves dressing up for ice, he likes wearing girly stuff like short skirts, short shorts, little dresses, lingerie but also those jeans he always wears that make his ass look amazing he knows those drive ice wild (those r the only type of jeans he owns), he likes wearing suits too or his dress whites ice thinks he looks so cute when hes all fancy
-yes they keep the skirts and dresses on when they fuck
-mav loves ices mouth on him, his mouth, his tits, his dick, his ass, anywhere, he loves when he marks him up too he loves seeing the bite marks and hickeys ice leaves
-theyve had threesomes with slider before, not a lot they prefer when its just them but ice wanted to see slider fuck mav because of their size difference
-mav loves how much ice talks during sex, ice loves to praise mav or call him a brat and put him in his place, he loves telling mav what hes gonna do to him or what hes doing as hes doing it

Hi guys,
If you have been following my blog for a long time you'll know I tend to colour my hair a lot and I have finally decided to go back to brunette instead of keeping my burgundy hair colour. Since I've been colouring my hair since I was 16 I always prioritise my hair care routine and using hydrating products to keep my hair in a decent condition. As you can imagine dying your hair that long tends to dry your hair out but luckily I have found products to make my hair look more healthy and I want to share them with you today.
This range is designed for people with damaged and dehydrated hair which I think happens to the best of us when you've coloured your hair for a while. The first 2 products from the collection I picked up were the L'Oreal Paris Elvive Hydra Hyaluronic Shampoo & Conditioner (with Hyaluronic Acid for Dry Hair £5-7). Both these products are infused with Hyaluronic Acid which weightlessly coats hair to keep it feeling hydrated for up to 72 hours. It honestly transformers your hair giving it volume, shine and taking the dullness away. I've been using these for a couple weeks now and it has made my hair look so healthy and in a much better condition than before by far.
Next up I picked up the L'Oreal Paris Elvive Hydra Hyaluronic Hair Mask with Hyaluronic Acid , £7.99. This Hyaluronic hair mask is a great conditioning treatment to help boost & lift hair to add volume, body & shine. Nourishing and conditioning stressed, damaged hair. Products like these are amazing for dry, damaged hair because they honestly give your hair a real hydration boost. Typically I'll use a mask once or twice in a 2 week period.
Lastly I picked up the L'Oréal Elvive Hydra Hyaluronic Acid 8 Second Wonder Water, £11.99. I love the 8 Second Wonder Water anyway but when I saw a new version in this collection I knew I had to get it. If you have never tried the 8 Sec Wonder let me give you the official description "The ultra-lightweight, silicone-free formula is powered by breakthrough Lamellar Water Technology and infused with a shot of Hyaluronic Acid. It forms a film of care around the fibre to smooth hair and maintain a healthy look. Hair is visibly transformed with an instant and intense feeling of hydration, a glassy shine, and a silky touch. It works wonders in just 8 seconds." I have been using this product for a long time and I honestly think it has saved the ends of my hair because my hair doesn't break as easily now which is amazing in itself.
I love this range and honestly if like me your hair needs some loving you should really try this range out. As always all products mentioned in my blog post are linked above!
Lots of love

leafanon here! for the ask game: literally do all of them. coward.
Oi! Be a little nicer to me leafanon, I’m sensitive!
1: Who is/are your comfort characters?
Look at my blog, mate. Have a guess.
It’s Jesse and Mundy. Both of them. At the same time. 25% Jesse, 75% Mundy.
2: Lighter or matches?
Lighter! I’ve got two. Both are Zippos. My first ever lighter I bought was this one because I liked the colour and design. The one I currently use is this one but I have “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Death, I shall fear no evil, for I am the evilest son of a bitch in the valley” engraved on the back. It’s the same thing my dad had engraved on his lighter in Vietnam. On the lid it says “If you wanna root smile when you give this lighter back” because I thought it was funny. It hasn’t worked yet but that’s only because no one’s asked me for a light.
3: Do you leave the window open at night?
I can’t sleep unless it’s open.
4: Which cryptid do you believe in?
Unironically most of them. I am convinced of the existence of the Loch Ness Monster, I’m convinced of sasquatch from personal experience, I have personally seen a yahoo, I’ve met ghosts, and I’ve seen UFOs. I believe that there’s creatures in Kakadu that are still Dreaming. I think the chupacabra is a coyote/fox with mange but I am convinced that it does exist. THERE ARE PANTHERS IN THE BLUE MOUNTAINS.
5: What colour are your eyes?
Blue-grey. Blue in sunlight, grey indoors. Colour depends on how much light they’re getting.
6: Why did you do that?
Because I wanted to.
7: Hair-ties or scrunchies?
Only ever grew my hair out once where it was long enough to need tying up and even then I rarely tied it up, but ties. They’re versatile.
8: How many water bottles are in your room right now?
One. Both of my canteens are in Matilda.
9: Which do you prefer, hot coffee or cold coffee?
Hot. I don’t trust people what drink cold coffee. You psychos scare me.
10: Would you slaughter the rich?
I don’t really do politics.
11: Favourite extracurricular activity?
Bushwalking. Hunting. Fishing. Writing.
12: What kind of day is it?
A really nice one. It’s night now but the frogs are croaking away outside with the crickets. Sky’s clear.
13: When was the last time you ate?
About an hour ago. Make one of those instant pasta meals.
14: Do you love the smell of the earth after it rains?
YES.
15: Are you a parent?
I have Misty. She definitely makes me feel like I'm parenting a toddler.
16: Can you drive?
I’m an excellent driver.
17: Are you farsighted or nearsighted?
Only slightly nearsighted. It’s not enough where it really has any effect, and I don’t have to wear glasses or anything. My vision is practically 20/20.
18: What hair products do you use?
Dog shampoo and the Sheila hates me for it. On the plus side it leaves me smelling nice and I don’t have fleas. It’s also a bonus because I can bathe Misty at the same time I bathe myself, which is how it all started anyway (she just HAD to pull me into the tub). Usually I’m doing spongebaths or bathing in rivers without any soap (I’m not going to fuck up an ecosystem just because I want to smell nice) but when I do find a hotel that takes animals or when I’m here in California, out comes the dog shampoo. I use TropiClean now. Smells like citrus.
19: Imagine we’re at a sleepover, would you paint my nails?
I haven’t painted anything in years and I’ve never painted anyone’s nails, but I’ve got a very steady hand so I reckon I could try.
20: Do you say soda or pop?
Neither. Fizz. It’s fizzy drink.
21: What’s something you’ve kept since childhood?
My stuffed bear. His name is Mr Bear because I wasn’t a very creative 2-year-old when I named him. I’ve had him since I was a baby.
22: What kind of person are you?
The… people kind? Scratch that. The cryptid kind. There’s at least two towns in Australia what have folklore about a ghost accompanied with a dog and a rifle slung across his shoulders. The amount of times I’d taken the piss out of people making that story come true is hilarious to me (and one of them is a story that originated within the past two years so I might actually be responsible for that one. Oops.)
23: How do you feel about chilly weather?
I don’t mind it at all. My area of California routinely gets frosts and hail (but never snow). Rural California taught me to tolerate cold, Australia taught me to tolerate heat.
24: If we were together on a rooftop, what would we be doing?
Drinking beer and stargazing. There’s literally no other reason for being on a rooftop, unless some assassin shit is going down, in which case I wouldn’t bring you with me because no witnesses.
25: Perfume/body spray or lotion?
Neither. My only fragrance is Hoppe’s #9, tobacco, and campfire smoke clinging to my clothes.
26: A scenario that you’ve replayed multiple times?
First time the Sheila read my fic and she gave me her thoughts on it. I go back and re-read that at least once a week. I live for it and sometimes it’s the only thing that keeps me writing.
Also just talking to people in general. I sit in Matilda and rehearse what I’m going to say for minutes before I actually go into the servo to get something. I always have a plan.
27: About how many hours of sleep do you get?
Usually anywhere from six to nine but I can run off 20-minute catnaps every few hours if needed for about 3 days before I need at least an hour of uninterrupted sleep (yes I’ve tested this).
28: Do you wear a mask?
I’m not around people. Ever. I wore a mask to my allergist the other day though. Unless it's required I'm not wearing one.
29: How do you like your shower water?
Cold. Hot is a luxury I can’t get used to.
30: Is there dishes in your room?
No. I always do my washing up immediately after eating. Handwash, hand dry, put them away.
31: What kind of music keeps you grounded?
Country.
32: Do you have a favourite towel?
No. Do people normally have favourite towels?
33: The last adventure you’ve been on?
Hunting in WA.
34: Is there a song you know every word to by heart?
Waltzing Matilda. Also And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda. Also Give Me a Home Among the Gumtrees.
35: What’s your timezone?
Right now? PDT.
36: How many times have you changed your URL?
I’ve only ever had one account before this (back when I was around 12) and lost the password. I’ve never changed this one’s URL since I made it.
37: Who is someone in your life (besides a relative) that you’ve known for 10+ years?
My rifle.
38: What’s a soap bar that smells good?
All of them? Reckon that’s the point of soap.
39: Do you use lip balm?
Like chapstick? No because I’m not a sook. Let your dehydrated lips crack and bleed like a real man.
40: Did you have any snacks today?
No.
41: How do you like your coffee?
Black as my soul. Really though, I like it black. No milk, no sugar.
42: What’s an app you frequently use besides this godforsaken website?
None. I have a Twitter but I only follow artists on there and I never use it.
43: What’s your take on spicy foods?
I don’t like spice. Burns my tongue. I’ll leave that to the ethanol.
44: You get a free pass to kill anyone, who is it?
Fuck off, FBI.
45: Can you remember what happened yesterday?
I went to the allergist, came home, took Misty for a long walk, made dinner, finished up a scene for chapter 11 and then got some paragraphs in for the next scene where Jesse is lusting after Mundy because he’s hot and then the Sheila and I spent twenty minutes sharing in communal brainrot over it.
46: Favourite holiday film?
Somewhere between Polar Express and A Christmas Story.
47: What was the last message you sent?
“Defo been hitting that gym,” referring to Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom.
48: When did you first try an alcoholic beverage?
Helped dad and a neighbour muster cattle all day, I was fucking exhausted, covered in sweat, and we lounged around in the shade of an oak tree like a couple of cowhands as we watched the cattle graze. The neighbour’s boy showed up with a few beers in his saddlebags. All four of us shared them. Neighbour’s boy was 17. I was 15. I earned that beer. On that note, I learnt to make screwdrivers when I was 10. I make a damn good screwdriver.
49: Can you skip rocks?
Excellently.
50: Can I tag you in random stuff?
Of course! I love being tagged in things. Bonus points for anything related to Sniper, Australia, or animals.

Nourish and Shine: Mastering Ayurvedic Hair Coloring with These 5 Pro Tips
Tumblr media
In the realm of hair coloring, Ayurveda shines as a holistic and natural approach that not only imparts vibrant hues but also nurtures your tresses. Unlike chemical-laden dyes that can leave your hair dull and damaged, Ayurvedic hair coloring can give you the best of both worlds - beautifully colored hair that is also healthy. In this blog, we'll delve into five pro tips for mastering Ayurvedic hair coloring, all while highlighting these crucial keywords: Natural Hair Colouring Shampoo, Instant Hair Color Shampoo, Shampoo for Black Hair Color, and Organic Hair Colour.
1. The Power of Natural Hair Colouring Shampoo
The first step in mastering Ayurvedic hair coloring is selecting the right product. A Natural Hair Colouring Shampoo is your best ally in this journey. These shampoos are formulated with natural ingredients like henna, indigo, amla, and bhringraj, which provide not only stunning color but also nourishment to your hair. The absence of harsh chemicals ensures that your hair is not stripped of its natural luster.
The keyword "Natural Hair Colouring Shampoo" is your guide to finding the perfect product that is free from artificial additives. Using such shampoos is not just about coloring your hair but also ensuring that it thrives.
2. Effortless Transformation with Instant Hair Color Shampoo
If you're seeking a quick and hassle-free way to revamp your hair color, an Instant Hair Color Shampoo is your go-to option. These shampoos offer a convenient and swift way to refresh your hair color, without the tedious hours of application and waiting.
The keyword "Instant Hair Color Shampoo" is a testament to the convenience it provides. With these shampoos, you can transform your hair color in just one wash. Apply it like your regular shampoo, leave it on for a few minutes, and witness your hair imbued with natural and vibrant shades.
3. Luxurious Black with Shampoo for Black Hair Color
For those desiring deep, rich black hair, consider using a specialized Shampoo for Black Hair Color. In Ayurveda, black hair symbolizes strength and vitality. This kind of shampoo uses natural ingredients such as indigo and henna, which enhance the depth of black color while also ensuring your hair remains in excellent condition.
The keyword "Shampoo for Black Hair Color" is your gateway to achieving the elegance of black hair while keeping it healthy. The natural approach ensures that your black hair looks both stunning and authentic.
4. Prioritize Hair Health with Organic Hair Colour
One of the core principles of Ayurvedic hair coloring is promoting overall hair health. To achieve this, choose "Organic Hair Colour" products. These formulations are crafted from organic, all-natural ingredients that are devoid of harsh chemicals and synthetic dyes.
Opting for organic hair color products is a conscious decision to shield your hair from the potential damage caused by chemical-based dyes. These organic products work in harmony with your hair's natural structure, ensuring it remains robust, vibrant, and healthy.
5. Mastering the Application Process
Mastering Ayurvedic hair coloring doesn't stop at choosing the right product; it also involves the application process. Here are some pro tips to get the best results:
Prepare Your Hair: Make sure your hair is clean and free of any product buildup before applying the hair color shampoo. This allows the color to adhere better to your hair.
Section Your Hair: To achieve even color distribution, divide your hair into sections. This will prevent uneven color results and ensure consistent coloring.
Perfect Timing: Adhere to the recommended time for leaving the shampoo on your hair. Different products may have different timing instructions, so read them carefully to achieve the desired shade.
Rinse Thoroughly: After the suggested time has passed, rinse your hair thoroughly until the water runs clear. Adequate rinsing is essential to remove any excess product.
Post-Color Care: To ensure the longevity of your Ayurvedic hair color, use nourishing and natural hair care products in your post-color care routine. Proper maintenance guarantees that your hair continues to look its best.
In conclusion, Ayurvedic hair coloring is more than just a color transformation; it's about nourishing and rejuvenating your hair naturally. With the right Natural Hair Colouring Shampoo, the convenience of an Instant Hair Color Shampoo, the depth of a Shampoo for Black Hair Color, and the purity of Organic Hair Colour, you can master the art of Ayurvedic hair coloring. Follow the application tips for optimal results, and remember that prioritizing your hair's health throughout the process is essential. Your hair can have it all - color, health, and radiance.

Okay- here goes *cracks knuckles* Excerpt of Part III of my WIP Memento Mori, a collection of four novellas about
Synopsis- Minutes before new year's day in 1999, a million children appeared across the globe. No-one knows where they have come from, but every single one has a unique ability. They are known as Millennium Citizens. Morgana Dodds, code-named 'the Medium', was one of five British Millennium Citizens and sent to the Carnegie Investiture to be trained as a superhero. Burned out and Genre: Urban Fantasy
Trigger Warnings- mentions of sexual assault, child abuse, violence
Excerpt below
My feet felt blistered and raw as I pushed open the door to room eleven at the Milestone Motel. I’d walked along the side of the highway after leaving the diner. A few kind drivers had slowed down to offer me a lift, but quickly sped away when they saw the blood. No one wanted to pick up a potential hitchhiker-slash-serial-killer.
Thankfully, Benny at the motel reception was able to take my visa card, and checked me in. He looked like he was in his eighties, and peered at me over his horn rimmed spectacles. He wore torn jeans, a cowboy shirt with rainbow braces, and a massive stetson.
“Have a nice stay,” he handed me over my room key, as well as the toiletries that were displayed behind him. I’d paid extra for the miniature bottles of shampoo, bubble bath, toothpaste, and  toothbrush.  “Towels are in the room, and there’s a complimentary robe as well. We don’t have wi-fi in the rooms, but you can pick up the signal here at reception. We got cable, but no pornographic channels. This is a family establishment.”
“Understood,” I gave Benny my widest smile as I scooped up my toiletries and left for the room. I had no intention of watching porn in my room, and I’d seen enough movies to know what happened in most motel rooms, so I was under no allusion about the pornographic activities his usual guests would be up to.
Room eleven was surprisingly clean and spacious. It was a little dated; wood paneling on the walls, landscape pictures featuring a surprising number of ducks and hunters on each wall, a worn orange and red geometric carpet, and a double bed with linen the same colour as the inside of a nectarine.
I dropped the toiletries on the bed, and peeled off my shoes. Opening the door, I tipped the desert sand out from my Converse, leaving a small mound by the front door. I pulled off my socks and shook them out as well. Blisters had formed and burst on my big toe and heel.
“Fuck,” I prodded it a little and wriggled my toes, feeling the tender skin underneath. I closed the door, and sat my shoes down at the end of the bed.
I quickly scanned the little TV stand and small selection of refreshments. There was a kettle, a couple of cups, and instant coffee, sugar and creamer. No tea.
“Well, that’s disappointing,” I scooped up my toiletries and took them into the avocado bathroom. The water pressure under the shower was pretty decent, and I stripped off leaving my clothes in a heap next to the toilet.
I caught sight of myself in the bathroom mirror, and no wonder the people in the diner had stared. I looked like a red-panda; my face was orange with the dust. Dried blood caked my arms and torso where my t-shirt had been ripped. My lips were chapped from being out in the desert, my nails were filthy and ripped. My hair looked wild; it was half out of its ponytail and matted with blood.
Despite all the blood, there was no sign of the fatal injuries that had befallen me, causing me to end up in the grave. Ante-mortem injuries never left a mark on me when I returned from the Beyond. Only my Investiture scar, the Y-shaped postmortem scar, remained on my body.
I quickly looked away, averting my gaze from my own naked body. No one needed to see that. No one wanted to see that, least of all me.
The water was warm and I watched the dust stain it red. I don’t know how long I stood under the shower, but once the water ran clean, I stopped the shower, and rinsed the bathtub.
I ran a bath and poured the entire bottle of mini-shower gel into the stream of hot water. It smelled of citrus and mint. It was refreshing and made my eyes water when the steam hit my face.
While I waited for the bath to fill, I brushed my teeth. Nothing helped make me feel more alive than brushing my teeth after a Return.
I sank into the bath, and let out a sigh; after today, I deserved a long soak. Shame that I didn’t have a book or my phone with me. Not that I would have been able to listen to any of the music on it anyway, not with the wi-fi not stretching to the room.
Thankfully, I’d kept my card in my back pocket, and my murderer hadn’t patted that down, but he must have ditched my messenger bag. I’d not found that buried with me, which  made sense, as he wouldn’t want to leave anything that could be used to identify me. I was surprised really, that he’d taken the time to bury me, and kept my clothes. Dumping a naked body out in the middle of nowhere would ensure carrion and scavengers would mess with any forensics and help the body decompose.
An amateur then? Someone who panicked? But then, they knew about the dump site, and had used it before. Or perhaps someone who was confident that I’d not have been found.
I sank under the water, and tried to remember the events that led me to a shallow grave in the southern United States.
But other than the monochrome of the Beyond, everything was fuzzy. I could remember packing my bags and locking the shop. I remembered boarding the plane and crossing through Customs into America at JFK, but after that, it was a blank.
Something had brought me from Scotland, to New York, and then to...wherever the hell I was in New Mexico.
I sat up and wiped water from my eyes. I wondered if Pete, or Avery, or even Sarah had realised that I was gone. I tried to imagine them frantically looking for me, trying to get hold of me, but with my phone missing, not being able to reach me. Again.
They’d come for me when Eagle Command had me, but once we had gotten home, it was business as usual. I was the forgotten sibling once again. They’d all gone back to their busy lives, and I was left holding myself together.
No point in sitting turning into a prune in the bathtub with a one-woman pity party. The water was getting cold anyway.
I considered dumping my clothes into the bath to soak, but couldn’t muster the energy. I wrapped myself in the terry bathrobe, and quickly pulled my hair into the second towel forming a turban, before collapsing into the bed.
***
I jolted awake, the images of the Beyond scattering with the light. I leapt out of bed, pulling my robe tight. The towel that I had wrapped around my head had long since come off, and lay on the floor.
I cracked the door open after I’d put the chain in place, and met the brown eyes of my breakfast buyer.
“Howdy, ma’am,” he held up a bag. “I brought some dinner. Can I come in?”
I dumbly nodded, and fully opened the door to him. My initial panic at seeing him, and wondering how he knew where I was, was quelled as my brain caught up. He had recommended the motel, so of course he’d come here first to find me.
Unlike this morning, he wasn’t wearing his plaid shirt and jeans; the khaki and green uniform of a police officer had replaced them. He pulled his hat off, and ran his fingers through his hair, pulling it out of his face.
“How’re you feeling?” He opened the bag and pulled out a white polystyrene box. The smell of spices and warm meat quickly filled the room.
“Better now that I’m not covered in sand,” I accepted the pro-offered box, and cracked it open. Tex-Mex rice, beans and pork with a side salad was crammed inside. He threw me a fork.
“I figured you’d be hungry. I wasn’t sure if you were a vegetarian, so there’s a veggie burrito in here as well.”
“This is good, thanks,” I scooped up some rice and beans, chewing slowly. I should be concerned that there was perhaps rat poison slipped in there- never accept food from strangers that you’d not seen prepared- but even if there were, I’d die, and then just come back within a couple of hours. And the food was so good, and I was still hungry.
“I hope you don’t mind me tracking you down,” he perched himself next to the TV. “But given the state that you were in this morning, I thought I’d better check in. Benny wouldn’t normally tell strangers if someone was staying at the motel, but the uniform opens people up to share a lot of information. And I ain’t a stranger, neither. This is a small town. Everyone knows everyone.”
“That’s a relief, I guess,” good to know that Benny wouldn’t just tell anyone that a lone female, who looked fairly vulnerable, was staying alone in a motel room. I felt so reassured.
“You know, I couldn’t get you out of my mind all day,” he must have seen my face pale, and he held up his hands. “Sorry, not like that. I mean, in a professional capacity. I’ve spent all day dealing with drunk drivers, and I couldn’t get the image of this young woman, covered in blood, who looked like she’d been buried alive, stumble into the diner and order pancakes. Not ask for help, or for someone to call the police, or get a lift to hospital. But just...pancakes.
“So I did a little googling, and would you blow me down with a feather! Another Millenium Citizen! ‘The Medium’. Do you know you have a Wikipedia page?”
“There’s not much on it,” I shrugged. He pulled out his phone, and started reading.
“'Morgana Dodds, the Millenium Citizen known as ‘The Medium’ is the final member of the Carnegie Investiture’s Crime Fighting Initiative. Little is known about the full extent of her abilities, but the ability to see and speak to the deceased was an asset to the team, until the Christian Forbes scandal when she accused the Peer of inappropriate sexual contact with children'-”
“That’s redundant. Any sexual contact with children is inappropriate,” I rolled my eyes, ever the pedant.
“‘-and the Investiture were sued for millions. Since then, Dodds has been a background figure in Carnegie activities. Her last public appearance was on the ‘Skeptikz’ YouTube Channel whereby the two hosts tried to test her abilities as a medium’. I actually watched that video, and it was really good. You really spooked that guy, Mark, with the little girl he witnessed being knocked down.”
“Tara McLean,” I sat on the edge of the bed. It was easier to eat and hold my robe closed between my legs.
“Then, after some more internet searches, I found a couple of articles in newspapers about you helping the police. You get a mention in a couple related to the kidnapping of that kid from ‘Britain’s Voice of the Nation’.”
“Ashleigh Docherty. That one was inadvertent. I had been following a human trafficker, Vasily Gregorov, so that I could help one of his victims.”
“That was…” He skimmed his phone. “Ylena Bogutskaya. The woman from Ukraine?”
“That’s right.”
“So, here, this is what I don’t understand. You’ve worked with the police before, so why not come to us for help. Something bad clearly happened to you. Why not reach out?”
I finished the rice, and sat the box down next to me. I suddenly felt very vulnerable, wearing nothing but a bathrobe.
“This might be hard to believe, but even with a Wikipedia page, a lot of people are skeptical about my abilities. If you’d not seen me this morning, would you have believed me if I’d strolled into your station, and told you that I’d woken up in a shallow grave? I’ve no marks on me, not even a bruise. I’m alive, with a pulse. You’d think I was a time-waster, or a loony, and send me on my way.”
“I’d have believed you,” he pulled out a bottle of iced tea and reached over to hand it to me. “I’m like you. An MC. I mean...I’m not big league like you. I didn’t make the grade to make it into Eagle Command. There’s not much use for a human lie detector.”
My stomach twisted with the mention of Eagle Command. It was hard to imagine that the affable cop who bought me breakfast had even been considered for Command, the American equivalent to the Investiture. But then, I’d trusted Caleb, and look where that had gotten me.
“You’d be a rare exception within law enforcement,” I twisted the cap off the bottle, and took a sip. Tea should not be cold and sweet. I appreciated the gesture from him though, so I swallowed the grimace before it reached my face.
“I picked you up some clothes,” He held up the bag again. “I wasn’t sure of your size, so I just picked up one of everything. It’s from the dollar store, so the selection wasn’t great. Hey, do you mind if I use your bathroom?”
I nodded, my mouth full with ice tea, and he took himself into the toilet.
I picked up the bag, took out the veggie burrito, and then dumped the rest of the contents onto the bed. There were basic toiletries, and then packs of socks and underwear in small, medium and large. The same with t-shirts, leggings and hoodies. A ‘one-size fits all’ sports bra was also at the bottom of the bag.
I grabbed the sizes that I thought would fit, having to mix and match, and quickly slipped on some underwear, checking over my shoulder that the bathroom door was closed.
The leggings were black with a galaxy print and tiny unicorns dancing around the ankles. The t-shirt was pretty thin, and had a meme cat staring into a spiraling galaxy, a look of awe on its face. Thankfully, the hoodie was plain, although, in this heat, I wasn’t sure if I’d need to wear it.
A newspaper, the New Mexico Independent Chronicle, was at the bottom. The date indicated that I’d been dead for at least three days. The newspaper sparked a memory; the name Nora, and a man looming over me.
“Are you decent?”
“I’m dressed,” I folded up the robe, and pulled my hair into a messy bun with the bobble from my wrist.
The bathroom door opened and the officer stepped out, my bloodied and torn clothes in evidence bags. He snapped off his blue nitrile gloves.
“Well, I guess I should properly introduce myself. I’m Deputy Theodore Ward of the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, and I’m formally requesting your assistance with a homicide.”

Best Salon Treatment For Dry Hair
Cysteine Treatment
Cysteine is a natural absorbent that conditions hair by penetrating the hair shaft. It reduces frizz and protects hair from further damage and drying. The cysteine complex, a non-essential amino acid found in keratin, is used in this treatment (the hair protein).
Hair is washed and dried first. Small sections of hair are treated with the cysteine complex. Hair roots should be avoided. Your hair is wrapped in a plastic sheet for about 45 minutes after application. This cysteine complex is then heated to activate it. Your hair is blow dried and flat ironed for a sleek appearance. Following the treatment, your hair is rinsed with shampoo and conditioner. You will notice a difference in your hair after it has dried.
2. Keratin Treatment
Keratin (the natural protein in human hair), conditioners, and formaldehyde are all used in keratin treatments. This treatment is ideal for people who have curly or frizzy hair. It aids in the attainment of semi-permanent silky smooth hair. Its anti-frizz and conditioning properties make it popular.
The keratin treatment will soften and bouncy your hair, treating dull and damaged hair. It also cuts curls by 90% and can last up to 6 months.
This treatment can be applied in two ways:
A basic keratin treatment that penetrates the cortex of the hair. It makes hair shinier and silkier, and it lasts for 3 to 6 months.
The second method entails the use of a formaldehyde-derived solution. This solution is applied to your entire head of hair before being rinsed. The rinsed hair is then straightened and blow-dried. This method produces results that last for three months.

3. Hot Oil Treatment
Hot oil treatments are well-known for giving hair an instant shine. They are especially useful for treating damaged hair and increasing hair moisture. Plant-based oils such as olive oil or coconut oil are used in this treatment. These oils are applied to your hair for 10 to 20 minutes before being rinsed out.
4. Moisture Treatment
The moisture treatment fortifies your hair and prevents breakage and split ends. It also protects your hair from heat styling products' damage. This treatment penetrates your hair, delivering vital nutrients and proteins. It also provides your hair with a protective outer coating that shields it from various environmental aggressors.
5. Detox Treatment
The detox treatment aids in the removal of product and chemical buildup on the scalp and hair. It also promotes hair growth in this manner.
The treatment also reduces excess oiliness and moisturizes the ends of your hair. It softens, shines, and makes hair more flexible. It also provides UV ray protection.
6. Hair Spa Treatment
During the hair spa treatment, various lotions and creams are applied to your hair to make it more manageable. It loosens the curls and changes the texture of your hair chemically. It gives your hair a straighter appearance with no frizz.
A hair spa treatment typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks. Following that, it may necessitate periodic touch-ups.
7. Toning Treatment
Color correcting toning treatments are popular among those who have dyed their hair. This treatment helps your hair colour last longer. It may also prevent fading of hair colour and correct any colouring mistakes.
8. Hair Glossing Treatment
A hair glossing treatment helps smoothen your hair. It is performed right after a color treatment or on virgin hair to help boost hair radiance.

Rest
Dear Someone,
I’m doing something old again. Something new, wrapped up in something old. Being someplace new, wrapped up in old things.
For the first time, I’m writing this with a still mind. It’s a sensible 11 pm, and I know the rest of my night will belong to sleep and dreams. Or maybe first to some late-night chili oil noodles. There’s no wave of grief, guilt or anxiety, or even of magnanimous joy that is predestinating this. It’s almost luxurious to wander around these restful bylanes, peering around for words and a cohesive narrative, without them being wrenched out of me, chasing my pen to a finish line.
What kind of a piece do a steady hand, clear eyes and even breath write? What will I end up being?
For the first time, I ask with curiosity; the kind of curiosity and faint mirth with which I look at centuries-old dog paintings in museums. For the first time, I ask at rest, aware but relatively unbothered by the far-off near future. With steady hands, clear eyes and an even breath.
In September, I inhaled, my nose in my mom’s hair, smelling her powder and shampoo. I inhaled air-conditioned cold air a week later, in a dairy aisle, buying my first 2 pints of milk.
I inhaled cold, crisp air in October, making my way across parallel bridges, taking an almost happy picture with a giant wheel by the riverside. I inhaled Sunflower’s colours and textures, hoping it might find a place to live in me that was less crowded than my brain - maybe in my lungs. I inhaled green apples and nicotine other people exhaled on a weekday evening during rush hour. I inhaled stale, humid air underground, determined to postpone falling sick until I could breathe easy in this new city.
In November, I inhaled day-old smells of instant curries from the microwave, layered over each other in a stinky parody of the real deal. I inhaled the tropical vanilla of a new friend’s room. I inhaled the smell of warm milk and cheap chocolate to mindfully distract myself from missing my old friends too much. If I focus hard enough when I look at her familiar, soft and loved face on the phone, I can almost inhale the smell of my mom’s shampoo and powder again.
I inhale and oscillate between lazy contentment and existential anxiety. I inhale and collect moments of tranquil, luxurious rest, stacking them into a sandbag dam, set against a flood that’s yet to announce itself.
I’ve held my breath at the end of this, in waiting; appreciative of the silence, aware of its tenuousness. Who will I be when I breathe out?
Having typed ‘inhale’ entirely too much, Me.
