IWSG February Blog Hop - On Author Websites
February 7 question: What turns you off when visiting an author’s website/blog? Lack of information? A drone of negativity? Little mention of author’s books? Constant mention of books?
Today, we’re talking about websites! Let’s dive in.
What turns me off first and foremost about a website isn’t anything to do with the content, but the design/layout itself.
I’m an artist at heart, and seeing no…

#IWSG – Derailment
This fourth Insecure Writer’s Support Group post of 2024 is living up to its title.
Getting to this stage has been one obstacle after another, from health issues to writing problems.
My Ukraine saga, Freedom Flights, has caused the most distractions. I managed to post Episode 19 almost on time, but Episode 20 missed the end of April self-imposed deadline. Blame a mix of uncooperative bowels,…

May Remember. May Not. #ISWG
Today being the first and being Wednesday took me by surprise, and I completely spaced IWSG. But hey, look, it’s not quite lunchtime over here in the Mountain time zone, so I think I’m good. Though, this means I will be late when it comes to visiting others.
I’ve had some writing leaps and bounds this past month. I had a panic moment with a chapter, rewrote a chunk, cut 4K, then begged my…

Blog Pet Peeves
What turns you off when visiting an author’s website/blog? Lack of information? A drone of negativity? Little mention of author’s books? Constant mention of books?
I have just demonstrated what’s a turn off when visiting author’s.
Lack of posting on a regular basis.
This is a big one. If information isn’t regularly updated, then why bother visiting the blog at all? What’s considered a regular…

LATE #IWSG
SO LATE! APOLOGIES!
We’re getting ready to leave the country for a much-needed vacation, consumed by tiny details—I’m pre-packing (or pre-fretting) and then start over again, creating lists, trying to make everything fit…
Happy 12th anniversary to IWSG!
I first heard of IWSG quite a bit ago—no more than 10 years ago, anyway. I knew some writers who participated with their blogs. I never joined…

Poster Image from the group
This post is for Alex Cavanaugh’s Insecure Writers Support Group (click the link for details on what that means and how to join.) On the first Wednesday of every month, we all post our thoughts, fears, or words of encouragement for fellow writers.
This month’s question — When you set out to write a story, do you try to be more original or do you try to give readers…

IWSG October Blog Hop - The Truth About "AI"
This month’s blog hop asks: The topic of AI writing has been heavily debated across the world. According to various sources, generative AI will assist writers, not replace them. What are your thoughts?
I’m going to go off on a tangent here on this for a moment, because the term “AI” or “artificial intelligence” as this tech has come to be known is a lie. So, I’d like to start with that, and the…

#IWSG – Blogging Life
This fourth Insecure Writer’s Support Group post of 2024 has to steer away from the same complaints about my health.
Instead, I’ll concentrate on wishing you all a Belated Happy Easter, hoping however you spent it, in worship, with family, hunting for Easter eggs, or all three, it was rewarding, enjoyable, inspiring, and fun.
So, onto the writing front:
The revision of Fevered Fuse is complete…

Older and Wiser #IWSG
March flew by for me, and I was busy with all the things from celebrating my birthday and having fun on spring break with the kids to less fun events that ratcheted up my anxiety to fresh new levels. But all my personal chaos aside, let’s talk writing.
Rewriting book 1 is a bigger undertaking than I assumed. I knew it was going to be a lot of work because of problems with tension, unfocused…

Book Reviews: Are they for readers or authors?
Do you follow back your readers on BookBub or do you only follow back other authors?
Absolutely, if it helps another author. Now ask if I refer back to BookBub? Eh, not so much. At least, not unless I receive an email notice of an update from an author I’m following. I, personally, haven’t used BookBub as an author. Only as a reader.
What I’d love to hear from authors is: Is BookBub worth it?…
