The Jake fic is taking longer than I thought. So here’s a blurb to hold you guys over. Soft Jake should be out by the end of the week.
Josh is a girl dad
Jake is a boy dad
~
Josh is the one who’s fixing her hair for pre school. “Do we want pig tails or buns?” Turning on the curling iron, and making sure she knows not to touch it. “Its hot don’t touch” he’d say pointing at it. She’d nod her head as she watched her dad put her hair into pigtails. Josh is the one to apologize when he pulls her hair to hard “I’m sorry baby did it hurt?”. He would get it to perfection. Putting colorful little hair ties around them, or clip on charms to make her feel pretty. “Okay princess all done”. She’d smile in the mirror at her hair, and twirl it a bit at the ends. She stands up being careful not to touch the curling iron, and hugs her dad. Thanking him for making her look like princess. He’d smile from ear and ear, and place a kiss on her forehead. “Your welcome little darling”. He always makes sure she knows how much he loves her before dropping her off at preschool. “Do you know how much I love you?”. She would stretch her arms out as far as she could “this much?”. He’d agree with her, and gives her hugs and kisses before he walks her into school. Sometimes she gets teary eyed before he leaves, but she always comes home with fun little stories to tell him. And he’ll listen to every single word as he cooks her dinner for the night. Josh always makes bath time fun and relaxing for her. Once a week he’ll set a theme for her, or let her have extra toys, or if she’s had a “long day” he’ll message her scalp while he washes her hair. Which always makes her doze off in his hands. Right after bath time he lays her down in her “big girl bed”, but somehow she always finds her way back to his bed. Even though it may cause him less sleep he’ll never complain. She’ll find a home in his arms, and they’ll both drift off to sleep for the night. When she’s older, and gets her first period he’ll already be prepared. Giving her the option between pads or tampons, and teaching her the difference. Making sure to give her ibuprofen, and a heating pad for her cramps. He’s extremely understanding when she snaps at him. He never really loses his temper at her, and always gives her space.
Jake is the one to make sure there always a guitar laying out for him. One day he bought him one of those mini guitars. It ended up broke when he pulled the strings to hard. Jake just laughed it off, and took it to his office to fix it. When he’s old enough he’ll quiz him over music. Covering the screen in the car, and saying “what’s this song? Correct now who sings it?” He’ll teach him to be a gentleman. “You do not speak to your mother or any woman that way. Do you understand?” He will explain to him the importance of respect, and though he might not understand it now. It will become a part of him as he grows. Jake tries his hardest not to lose him temper, but sometimes it’s bound to happen. He’ll realized he messed up, and his son will began to tear up. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to lose my temper with you. It’s just frustrating when you don’t listen. We can fix it together okay” When the time comes to teach him about the birds and the bees. A lot of parents get weird about having this talk, and leave out important things. Not Jake he told him everything he needed to know. When he hits high school, and starts trying to sneak around Jake knows. “I was your age once too. You don’t have to sneak around. I know your going to do it regardless if I say no. So I’m not gonna try to stop you just be safe” Jake makes sure he knows if he’s ever in a situation to call him. No matter what he’ll always pick him up. He’s pounded into his head to never get behind the wheel intoxicated. The day a girl breaks his heart for the first time. He’ll come from school and immediately head for his room. Jake will give him his space for a while, but he didn’t come out all afternoon he went to check on him. He’ll tell him about a girl he loved, and how she loved another. Jake will understand, and tell him how he got over his heart breaks. His son will tear up, and Jake will tell him that it’s okay to cry. Jake will hug him, and wipe his tears. When he gets his first girlfriend Jake makes sure he’s treating her right. When he tells Jake she had a bad day he tell his son to buy her some flowers. He learned everything he knows from his dad, and Jake was always more than happy to teach him.

—————
It was your favorite night of the year. October 31st. Hallow’s Eve. It was made even sweeter now that you had a four year old who was just starting to understand the wonder of Halloween. Her recent obsession, aside from butterflies and her strange connection to pirates (something she picked up from her father), was the 1991 film The Addams Family. Her obsession started a few months before when her uncle Josh had picked her up from school.
When Jake let himself through his brother’s front door to pick her up, he found the two of them snuggled up on his twin’s couch with a snack, your daughter fully enthralled with the movie. Ever since, she’d been obsessed with the film, asking you to put it on every afternoon when she came home and waltzing around pretending to be Wednesday Addams.
It was no surprise to you or Jake that when you asked her what she might want to dress up as for Halloween, her answer had been immediate.
Her costume had been mercifully easy to put together. Her hair was a beautiful brown, not quite as dark as Wednesday’s but thankfully long enough to put into two braids. You had taken her out on a mother-daughter date the weekend before Halloween and had found the perfect black dress with a white collar and some black tights. She was so excited that she couldn’t even wait until you’d gotten home to start tearing into the package of the tights and trying to pull them on over her leggings.
Your mother-daughter date hadn’t been solely for your four-year-old though. While you’d been out, the two of you had stopped by a few stores looking for the perfect dress for your costume.
After your daughter’s declaration of wanting to be Wednesday, it was obvious to you and Jake that you had to get in on the Addams Family themed costumes. Jake luckily already had a heather grey linen suit in his closet that he was planning to wear, but you wanted something a bit more dramatic.
“Mommy, what about this one!” your daughter shouted down the aisle yanking on a piece of silky black fabric hanging from a rack. You pulled the dress from between the mass of options and your mouth dropped open from the gem your daughter had discovered.
“It’s perfect, buggy!” you told her, kissing her on the top of her head as she ran her fingers over the fabric.
As you walked hand in hand towards the exit of the mall, you were drawn to the delicious smell of Annie’s Pretzels. You leaned down and whispered in her ear, “Let’s get a treat, but we can’t tell daddy.” A devilish grin spread across her face at her new secret.
The two of you walked back to the car, pretzels and shopping bags in hand, your daughter buzzing with excitement in her carseat.
She raced up the few steps through the interior door in the garage, throwing it open and kicking her shoes haphazardly in the direction of the shoe closet yelling “Daddy! Daddy!”
She found him in the kitchen, placing a few plates from the sink into the dishwasher. He quickly dried his hands and spun around to pick her up in a big bear hug.
“Did you have fun today, Buggy?” he asked as she squirmed in his arms.
She recounted your afternoon in rapid fire, telling him all about her ‘Wednesday dress’ and her new tights and how she had picked out mommy’s “perfect costume”–a comment that earned you a sultry eyebrow raise from your husband when he looked up at you leaning against the kitchen door frame–
“And then when we were about to leave, mommy said we should get pretzels but not to tell–” Your daughter cut herself off as she realized she’d spilled her secret in her excitement. Her eyes went wide as Jake gasped with mock hurt.
“You two got a pretzel and didn’t get me anything?” He asked her with a pout.
“Oh no, daddy! Mommy we have to go back and get daddy a pretzel too!”
You smiled as you held up the second half of your snack that you’d saved for him, knowing your daughter couldn’t keep a secret to save her life.
Jake strode over to you, taking it out of your hand and kissing you firmly. “I love you,” he said, smiling into the kiss.
—————
Your daughter couldn’t stop talking about how excited she was to dress up as her favorite character from her favorite movie. When Halloween finally arrived and you picked her up from school she was talking a mile a minute. She told you about how all of her friends were going trick-or-treating tonight too and how she had made a ghost out of a tissue and a rubber band. She held up the little ghost so you could see it in the rearview mirror and you laughed as she made it fly around the backseat.
When you finally arrived at home, she ran to her room to start putting on her costume. It was only three o’clock and you still needed to clean up the house and get dinner started, but you thought there wasn’t any harm in letting her run around in her dress and tights for the afternoon.
You’d been home for about an hour, your daughter coming in and out of the kitchen, twirling and dancing with her stuffed animals singing “They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky. They're altogether ooky, The Addams Family!”
You heard the garage door open and shut.
“Daddy’s home, wanna go help him bring his stuff in, buggy?” You asked your daughter. She immediately dropped her stuffed animal on the floor and threw open the door.
“My love!” Jake said, a guitar case grasped in each hand. He knelt to set one down in the small hallway so he could scoop her up with a free arm.
“Look at my costume!” she exclaimed from her perch on his hip.
“I almost didn’t recognize you buggy. You look just like her!” He hugged her close to his side and kissed her cheek. Your husband leaned over towards the guitar case he’d set on the floor, trying to balance his things and his daughter all at once. You heard him curse under his breath as he started to lose his balance.
“Jake, don’t you dare drop my child.” You said over your shoulder as you wiped down the dining table.
“Wouldn’t dream of it, sugar,” he replied, his voice strained from the effort. “Let's put this stuff away bug, and then how about we do Wednesday’s braids?”
“Yes! Yes! Yes!” she cheered and clung tighter to Jake as he shuffled down the hallway towards his studio.
You couldn’t help but smile at your daughter’s enthusiasm. She and Jake truly were best friends.
Ten minutes later, your daughter came bounding into the kitchen followed shortly after by your husband. Her hair was divided into two cute little braids down the sides of her head and she was twirling in large circles trying to make the braids fly out with the movement.
Jake made his way over to you in three easy strides and you smiled when his hands found your waist and pulled you into a sweet kiss.
“Hi,” he said.
“Hi,” you grinned. “Those braids look good.”
Jake smiled and turned his head to the side, watching your daughter who was lost in her own world. “Why thank you, I am quite talented aren’t I?” A hint of his fake British accent found its way into his joke, his lips turning up at the corners. “Go get ready sugar, I’ll wrangle the bugster.”
You kissed him once more before heading down the hallway to your shared room.
You had only tried the dress on once before. The night you bought it, you kicked Jake out of your room (much to his dismay) and made sure that it fit. It had been against your better judgment to buy a dress without trying it on in the store first, but luckily, it fit just right.
Black satin, dark as onyx, the dress shone in the soft light of your bedroom as you turned left and right. The sleeves reached almost to your fingertips, flaring out dramatically towards the floor, reminding you of a bat’s wings. Your hands smoothed over the bodice, feeling the softness of the buttery fabric under your touch. You’d spent most of your time making your makeup dramatic for the occasion. You took the dress off the hanger and slipped it on. Since it was meant to be form-fitting, it was hard to get the near-invisible zipper up all the way by yourself. You struggled with it for a minute, jumping slightly (as if that helps at all). You managed to close it three quarters of the way before you gave up.
“Jake!” you called to your husband in a huff. You weren’t sure that he could even hear you from all the way across the house, but he needed to get his costume on soon anyway. Moving on from the stubborn zipper you leaned towards the mirror with your favorite red lipstick, applying the color just as Jake knocked lightly on the door.
“Babe it’s your room too, you can just come in,” you joked, the door slightly creaking as he pushed it open.
“I know, but I didn’t want to see you in all your glory until you were ready,” he said, closing the door. “Bug is finishing her mac and cheese I–” his voice trailed off as he took you in.
“Fuck,” he whispered under his breath.
“What? You don’t like it?” You looked down at yourself. Maybe the cut was too low or he didn’t like the satin. He was quiet for a second and your eyes raised to look at his reflection in the mirror where he stood behind you, taking in the view of you from behind.
“No sugar, I love it.” His eyes were glued to your ass and the curve of your waist. The back of the dress was nearly nonexistent, showing off the entirety of your spine. “You’re so fucking hot.”
Your cheeks heated as he tore his attention from your body to look you in the eyes through the reflection.
“Will you give me a hand?” your chin motioned towards your unzipped clasp behind you as your husband’s heated stayed on your reflection. He quickly crossed the room until his chest was pressed into your back and his hands gripped your hips.
“Always,” he said into your ear. You couldn’t help the shiver his words sent through you. He leaned back slightly to pull the zipper up the rest of the way. He took the advantage of his hands being so close to your ass to give it an affectionate smack before hugging you close to him again. “I can’t wait to take this off you later.” He took your earlobe between his teeth lightly to emphasize his point.
You couldn't get enough of these quiet moments with him. It didn’t happen often, both of your lives going at full speed as individuals and as parents, but you soaked up every moment you could with just him.
“I love you,” he murmured onto the skin of your shoulder, his lips leaving a trail of kisses across the top of your shoulder and the back of your neck. “I don’t tell you that enough.”
You laughed lightly, closing your eyes and leaning into his weight. “Yeah, you only tell me every day.”
“Nmhm,” his voice was muffled from his face being buried into your neck. “It’s still not enough.”
Your heart began beating harder in your chest. Even after years of marriage and the fact that the two of you were raising the child you created, he still gave you butterflies.
“Do you know what’s hot?” you asked, interlacing your fingers on top of his. His hands were warm and strong. You fiddled with the thin wedding band on his left ring finger before turning your face towards his and kissing him softly. “You, in that grey suit over there.” You nudged him toward your shared closet.
His eyes narrowed at your playful tone but he let go of your body, immediately beginning to unbutton his already half-open shirt.
You let him get ready in peace, snatching the small white box that sat on your bed and bringing it with you back into the kitchen. Finding your daughter shoving the last spoonful of mac and cheese into her mouth you asked, “Are you almost ready to go Miss Wednesday?” She nodded furiously as you picked up her bowl and set it in the sink.
It wasn’t long before Jake was sauntering into the kitchen, dressed in a dark linen suit. He’d put his hair up and trimmed his mustache a bit. You smiled when your gaze met his and he wiggled his eyebrows dramatically.
“What do you think, bug?” Jake asked your daughter who was now jumping up and down with excitement.
“Daddy, you look perfect!”
“Perfect, eh?” He lifted your hand and brought it to his lips. He kissed it slowly, his eyes never leaving your own. You could see the heat in his gaze as he lowered your hand.
“I have a surprise for you,” you said, tightening your hand around his and leading him to the kitchen island. The white box was small and unassuming. Jake hadn’t even noticed it, though you had gone out of your way to hide it so he wouldn’t find it accidentally. “The finishing touch.”
You lifted the dark red bow tie out of the box which you’d bought the same day you and your daughter had gone shopping for your costumes. Jake smiled at you as you placed it around his neck, situating it under the collar of his shirt. Your husband couldn’t keep his hands off you as he stroked up and down your sides as you tied the bow tie.
Straightening the tie you asked, “Not too tight?”
“It’s perfect my love. Thank you.”
You leaned in for a quick kiss but when you made to pull away, Jake didn’t let you go. He deepened the kiss, licking your bottom lip as you tried to ignore the way your heart stuttered in your chest.
“Jake! My lipstick!” you laughed, detaching yourself from his grip.
“Mmm, I can’t contain my passion.” His voice dropped to a sultry lull, fully in character.
Your moment was interrupted by your daughter yelling from the living room, “Daddy! Uncle Josh is here!”
“Go meet him outside buggy, we’ll be out in a sec” he replied, still distracted by kissing you.
After kissing you firmly a final time, Jake grabbed your daughter’s halloween basket off the counter and headed outside, his hand still interlaced with yours.
“Uncle Josh!” your daughter yelled, running down the porch steps towards Josh’s jeep truck. You couldn’t contain your burst of laughter as your husband’s twin stepped out of the car wearing a black and white striped shirt paired with black shorts.
“You dressed up as Pugsley!” your daughter giggled, jumping into his arms.
“Oh course I did! I couldn’t let you have all the fun alone!” Josh squeezed her tight and spun around.
You were grateful that you lived in a neighborhood that had lots of kids. It was a safe area and your daughter had lots of friends from school that lived down the street. That made her even more excited for Halloween.
It was only 5:30, but the neighborhood was buzzing with families starting to come out for trick or treating. As the four of you walked down the street, your daughter spotted one of her friends and she and Josh went over to catch up with them.
That’s how most of the night went, Josh and your child running from house to house, getting as much candy as they could until her basket was almost overflowing. And then there was you and Jake, watching her joy and excitement and enjoying the crisp October air.
By the last house, the sun had sunk behind the horizon and the streetlights sent a cozy glow across the street. Josh carried your daughter on his back like a backpack and spun in circles as he walked, making her squeal with laughter.
“Stop it Uncle Josh! I’m so dizzy!” she managed to say through a fit of giggles. He laughed along with her and pretended to stumble along the sidewalk.
When you made it back to your front door, Jake's arm was wrapped around your shoulders and yours around his waist, holding him close to you. He only let you go when you reached the front door to find his keys.
“Hey bug,” Josh said over his shoulder to the child clinging to him. “What do you say to a movie-night-candy-eating-sleepover-extravaganza at Uncle Josh’s house?”
Her face immediately lit up and she couldn’t contain her shakes of excitement.
“Can I daddy? Pleaseeee?” she pleaded in her best pouty voice that she knew would make Jake melt.
Jake looked over at you, grinning slightly.
“I don’t know bug, do you promise not to stay up too late and to save some of your candy for later?” he asked in a half-serious voice.
“I promise, I promiseeeee!!” she answered so quickly that she barely heard his question. You and Jake chuckled to each other under your breath as he looked at you, pretending to have a serious silent debate between your gazes.
“I guess so, but you’ll have to grab your overnight bag from your bed,” he answered with a dramatic sigh and smiled when she immediately jumped from her uncle’s back and barreled past Jake into the house.
“Seriously, don’t let her eat all her candy,” Jake said to his twin who was sporting the biggest grin you’d ever seen.
“Don’t worry,” Josh answered, “I’ll make sure she eats everything but the Reece’s. I know those are your favorite.”
Jake laughed. “Fine.”
Your daughter came flying back out of the house, her backpack now strapped across her back. She had jumped down two steps of the porch before you said, “No good night kiss?”
She gasped and stopped in her tracks, remembering that she was going to be gone for the whole night. Turning around she jumped into Jake’s arms in a big hug. He kissed her cheek before telling her, “Have fun, but don’t let Uncle Josh have too much fun. I love you.”
She giggled and immediately jumped into your arms next. Her small arms wrapped around your neck in a tight hug.
“Goodnight mommy, see you tomorrow,” she said as she pulled away and gave you a smacking kiss on the cheek before running back to Josh, ready for their adventure.
You laughed as you stood up. Josh had a carseat already installed in his Jeep since he picked her up from school so often and after she was all situated, you and Jake waved to them from the porch.
Once they had turned the corner off your street Jake’s hands were back on your body, his lips slowly and lovingly exploring your neck.
“Mmm a whole night to ourselves,” you murmured, rocking back into him. His grip tightened on you as he hummed his approval. “Whatever will we do with ourselves?” You couldn’t contain your grin as he hummed again.
“I can think of many, many things,” he said into your skin before taking your hand and leading you into the house.

Pickles & Peanut Butter - dad!Jake Kiszka x Reader
Tumblr media
Requested!
words: 1k+
Summary: Just Jake being a wonderful husband and helping you through your pregnancy and domestic shit
CW: 18+, MDNI, pregnancy, fluff, domestic Jake, talks of body image, weird pregnancy cravings, fluff, I think that’s all
—————————————————————
Your third trimester of pregnancy was really kicking your ass. One of the biggest reasons that you were able to get through it was all thanks to your wonderful husband, Jake. He waited on you hand and foot and the never ending praise was enough in itself to keep you happy. You still remember the day you told him you were expecting.
...
"Jake-" you called out for him through sniffles. "C'mere."
He opened the bathroom door and immediately spotted the stick in your hand. He inspected it thoroughly, tears welling up in his eyes not long after.
"Wait- we're having a baby?" He swiped a tear from his cheek.
"Yes!" You beamed.
"We're having a baby!" He rejoiced. "You're going to be the best mama." He says as he bends down to kiss your still flat stomach. "Oh my god, I'm gonna be a dad."
"I've always wanted to be a mother..." you can barely manage to get any other words out. Your body is overfilled with happiness and emotion.
"This baby is gonna be the most insanely loved baby in the entire world. Our baby." He continues to smile through tears. "You've made me the happiest man in the world. First your husband, and now a father."
"Oh god. I can already picture you changing diapers." You cup your hand over your mouth and blinked back some lingering tears. "Doing all the dad duties."
"I gotta tell Josh-" he reached for his phone in his pocket to be stopped by you.
"Hold on, let's not tell anyone yet. We can surprise them."
...
He laid on your legs, his hands cupping your growing bump. He just finished giving you a well deserved and needed foot rub, one that he insists on giving you almost every day. He knows how insecure you've been feeling and does everything in his power to make sure you know how beautiful you are.
"You're glowing. You know that?" He coos. "Your stretch marks are so beautiful love." He tells you as he traces each one delicately.
You just stare at him in awe.
"We really made this baby together, huh?" He asks you, a wide smile breaking out on his face.
"Yeah, I guess we did." You laugh to yourself.
"I think I've fallen even more in love with you, and I didn't even know that was possible." As his words continue to butter you up, you feel your baby moving around. "I felt a kick!" He beams.
"Our little one loves their daddy." You smile, rubbing your free hand through his hair. "I think the little one wants pickles and peanut butter again, Jakey." You feel a kick as soon as these words leave your lips, almost as if your baby is agreeing with you.
"But you had that yesterday, baby." He speaks to your stomach with the biggest puppy dog eyes. He turns up to face you. "Okay mama, I'll make it for you. On one condition. If you let me try it with you." He smiles. "I need to see what our babies food palette is like." He stands up and makes his way over to the door.
"Deal." You place your hand on your stomach lovingly. As you go to stand, Jake rushes to your side to help you up. "Jake, I'm fine. However, your child has been kicking me all day."
"Oh it's my child now?" He laughs, realizing you aren't laughing with him and then immediately changes his demeanor. "I'm sorry. You're doing so well my love. Only a few more weeks. My superwoman."
He bends down to your stomach, placing a gentle hand on your bump once more. "Don't give your mommy too much trouble." He grabs your hand, not letting you walk down the stairs without him.
"Honey, I can walk down the stairs just fine. I'm only pregnant." You huff.
"Okay, okay." He let's out a defeated sigh, letting you walk down the stairs by yourself for once. "Just- go easy. You are carrying my child after all. Precious cargo."
You make your way into the kitchen, grabbing the peanut butter jar and the jar of pickles. Jake made sure to buy you a separate peanut butter jar, just for you to dip your pickles in. That had been one of the only things you had seriously craved the entire pregnancy. You dip the pickle into the peanut butter and take a big bite.
With your cravings satisfied, Jake does the same thing, following after you. He usually loves to try your cravings with you the first time you get them, but this one was just one he couldn't seem to get behind until now.
"Hmm..." he chews on the pickle. His brows furrow as his taste buds indulge in the flavor. You can tell he's not a fan of it, but he plays a good poker face just to make you happy. "Oh...it's uh- it's good!" He says, obviously faking it. He comes up behind you, wrapping on hand around your bump and grabbing your hand in his other.
"I love you darling. So fucking much." He whispers.
"Jake! Quiet! There's young ears around!" You slap his shoulder playfully, spinning around to meet his face.
"Oops! Sorry!" He shoots a hand up to cover his mouth. He laughs it off and then brings you into a kiss.
That same night while you were asleep, he ran out to the store and came back with a brand new jar of pickles and peanut butter. He placed them on your nightstand, leaving a little note next to it.
"My dear y/n,
I am so proud of you. Here's a little midnight snack for you. To spare you the trouble of having to rush to the kitchen in the middle of the night. But make sure to wake me up before you dig in. I live to share everything with you. Be it a  pregnancy craving or an entire damn family. I'm here with you through it all.
All my love,
Jake"

thinking about Jake just being able to automatically quiet a baby again.
Maybe he’s babysitting his niece for Josh, bolting up from the couch in the living room upon hearing her cries.
“Aw, come here,” he says softly, picking her up carefully into his arms as she lets out intense little cries. “No tears, sweetheart. You’re okay. Shhh.”
He cradles her securely in his arms, bringing her as close to his chest as he can. Immediately, she begins to settle down, her sleepy eyes looking up at him. His natural calmness could soothe anyone.
“You still look tired.” Jake smiles down at her, gently rubbing her arm with the back of his fingers. “You’re just like me… Never wanting to sleep for too long, afraid you’ll miss something important.”
She lets out a few soft coos, making Jake’s smile widen even more. He studies her for a moment, a whole new and different form of love overtaking him. She is a little piece of his twin. His best friend. He notes the color of her eyes and the shape of her nose, matching Josh’s perfectly. As she continues to coo up at him, he notices the dimples already showing themselves in her cheeks - also just like Josh.
“You’re just like our Joshy, too, though aren’t you?” He whispers, watching her eyes start to drift closed.
Jake lets out a shaky sigh, leaning down to gently rest his head against her’s for a brief moment. “I love you.”

Imagine with me, please...
Jake walking a few paces behind his kid as they ride a mini balance bike. The kid is so focused with their head bent over forwards as they watch the wheels turn when they move.
It's a good thing Jake put a helmet on their head because in the next two seconds, the bike wheels hit a bump in the sidewalk and sends the toddler crashing forwards to the ground.
Jake, after learning to give no sudden reaction, freezes in his steps and stares at the toddler who lays there on the ground just staring upwards at the sky.
They look calm, but are they?
He watches as they roll over onto their hands and knees and push themselves back up and try to lift the bike right side up but unsuccessfully doing so.
They look to Jake and he chuckles when he sees their pouty lip. The silent plea for help. He'll walk over and pick the bike up and set it correctly on its wheels and the toddler will giddily get back on the little bike and continue on down the sidewalk.
Only to start getting tired a few minutes later and beg Daddy to hold them. So then Jake will have to not only carry the toddler in one arm as they fall asleep on his shoulder, but he'll also have to struggle to carry the bike in his other arm for the entirety of the two mile walk back home.

Description: You and Jake finally tie the knot after years of being together. As the night progresses, tension builds and it becomes increasingly obvious Jake has more in store for when you’re alone. Perhaps more than you knew you could handle.
••≫────≪•◦ ⚓️ ◦•≫────≪••
“We ask that all guests please stand for the bride.”
Jake’s standing at the altar, waiting for the moment he’s anticipated since the day he met you. Josh is his best man, Sam and Danny standing behind Josh as groomsmen. Your sister is your maid of honor, Josie and Ronnie are your bridesmaids. Your daughter stands alongside Josie holding a basket filled with red and black petals. Everyone’s turned to the doors behind them, eagerly waiting for you to walk down the aisle. This will be the first time anyone but your mom has seen you in your elegant dress. Your dress is long, black and lacey, a more gothic approach to incorporate you and Jake’s aesthetic. You slowly stride down the aisle, looking at Jake as if he’s the only person in the room. He starts to tear up as he turns away facing Josh.
“Oh man, I can’t- she’s so gorgeous.” Jake mumbles to Josh as he drags his fingers across his eyes.
“Jake, you got this. She does look beautiful.” Josh pats his twin’s shoulder and spins him around.
“Daddy, are you sad?” Your daughter lets go of Josie’s hand and walks towards Jake.
“No, baby. Daddy’s not sad, both of my girls are just too pretty.” Jake picks her up and places her on his hip, he takes the basket out of her hand so it doesn’t hit anyone.
“Daddy! My basket!” She giggles as Jake hands it off to Josie.
“Aunt Josie’s gonna hold it so you don’t get Mommy with it, okay?” He says kissing her forehead as she nods in agreement.
All of the guests are giggling at the exchange between Jake and his daughter as you make your way to the altar. Jake turns and hands off the little one to her Uncle Sammy. It’s no secret her Uncle Sammy is her favorite, he lets her play with Rosebud and Sam had started teaching her piano on the weekends. Once Jake returns his attention to you, he grabs both of your hands and whispers, “You are so gorgeous.” Emotions have visibly taken over the room as you stand with Jake, the bride and groom before their entire family. Josh and Danny have little tears in their eyes, and Sam would if his niece wasn’t trying to make him giggle. You can’t see the girls behind you, but you can hear sniffles amongst your side. Jake’s instructed to give his vows, he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a folded up piece of paper.
“I hope these words make sense, I had Josh help me write it since words are kinda his thing,” He chuckled and the room followed suit, “My beautiful girl, as I stand here, my heart overflows with an intensity of emotion that words can’t describe. I have loved you with every beat of my heart, and I will continue to pass the day I die. I promise to be your unwavering support, your protector and your greatest admirer. You are the fire that ignites my spirit, and the melody that sings in my heart, lighting an eternal flame marked forever by our love. I am deeply in love with you and cherish every day I get to call you mine.”
After the room coos and tears up, you’re instructed to give your vows. Josie hands you a folded paper.
“I didn’t ask Josh for help, but now I’m wishing I had…” Everyone laughs again, riding the ups and downs on the rollercoaster of emotions. “Jacob, from the depths of my soul, I love you. You are the anchor that keeps me grounded and the strength that lifts me up. The moon guiding me through darkness. I promise to continue giving you my unconditional support and love. In your arms, I have found my home, my sanctuary. You are my soulmate and I am eternally grateful to call you mine. I love you forever, my darling.”
Jake’s eyes were glazed over with tears, one blink would release the floodgates. The two of you exchange “I do’s” before you hear the magic words, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. Mr. Kiszka, you may kiss your bride!” Jake wraps his arm around you placing his left hand at the small of your back, his right arm at the nape of your neck. He presses you into his body with all he has, holding onto you for dear life. The room fills with joyous crying, clapping and cheering as the two of you kiss for the first time as husband and wife. The kiss engulfs you, melting away the background noise and again it feels like you and Jake are the only ones in the room. He pulls away and whispers into your ear, “I can’t wait until later.”
After the ceremony everyone heads to a nearby beach for the reception. The beach is set up with tents and tables for guests to sit at. The center pieces for the tables are tiny glass skull bottles filled with sand from Tybee Island, where Jake proposed to you. The bottles are sealed with white wax, surrounded by chains and ship rope. There’s a barrel with a helm resting against it, topped with a big glass bottle that says “leave us a message.” Guests are encouraged to write you guys a note on some aged paper and pop it into the bottle for you to read later. The night is spent celebrating with one another, dancing, laughing, drinking, making memories.
“Alright, we ask the bride and groom to make their way to the dance floor for their first dance.” Jake takes your hand as you guys work your way to the front of the party. At Last by Etta James starts playing as Jake pulls you close to his chest. The sun has set, the autumn air is crisp and lit by fairy lights hanging around the edges of the canopies. You rest your face on Jake’s shoulder and your moves melt together. He leans his head closer to your ear and whispers, “A little longer and I can have you the way we both need.” He kisses your cheek and presses his face into you, shivers are sent down your spine.
As the night progresses, you reach the fun part, garter removing and bouquet tossing. You guys decided on tossing a plastic skull with a black rose in its eye instead of a full bouquet of flowers. Your sister catches the skull but opts to hand it off to Josie, “I will NOT be the next one married, you have fun with that Jo!” Josie giggles and takes the skull from your sister, placing it on her table as they return back to their seats. A chair is brought up for you to sit in, prepping for Jake to remove the garter from your thigh. Hot in Herre starts playing as Jake gets on his hands and knees, looking up at you with brown doe eyes. You mouth to him “We should do this later.” He giggles before sticking his head under your dress. You always felt that this was an awkward thing to watch at the few weddings you’d been to, but you never imagined how weird it would feel being the one in the chair. Jake decides to play dirty with you where everybody’s watching, but none of them can see. He drags his tongue all the way up your leg, teasing the inside of your thigh before you feel his teeth bite at your skin. He’s nowhere near the garter, purposefully trying to get a rise out of you in front of everybody. Catching on to his game you don’t give in, Jake gives up and drags the garter down your thigh, kissing your ankle before sliding it off your leg entirely and removing his head from under your dress. He stands up, tosses the garter and kisses you on your lips. For the remainder of the night you can’t help but think about your after party, just you and your husband. As the night wraps up, everyone says their goodbyes, Sam hangs behind with you, Jake and your daughter.
“Her overnight bag should be in your car, Mom said she put it in there before the ceremony.” Jake says to Sam.
“Yep! Right in the front seat! Mom set up her car seat too, I was afraid I’d put it in wrong.” Sam still hasn’t figured out the car seat yet even though it’s been 3 years.
“Okay, baby. You’re gonna spend the night at Uncle Sammy’s, Mommy and Daddy will see you tomorrow.” Jake picks up your daughter and squeezes her, swaying back and forth, rapid firing kisses on her cheek, giggles escaping from both of them.
Sam gives you a hug, “Congratulations, you look gorgeous.” Jake hands off the child to you so you can say goodbye. While you’re hugging her and kissing her cheeks, Sam hugs and congratulates his brother. He grabs his niece from you, “Say bye-bye to Mommy and Daddy.” He waves his arm so she follows suit. As they’re walking away you hear her ask, “Uncle Sammy, I can play with my Rosie tonight?” He’s too far away for you to hear now, but you see his shoulders bounce in a chuckle.
“You ready, baby?” He looks at you with heavy eyes, grabbing your waist.
“Always.” You wrap your arms around his torso.
There’s a black SUV waiting to bring you guys back home, Karen made sure a ride would be set up so you guys could enjoy your night and celebrate. You guys get into the SUV, and before the driver pulls off Jake is all over you. Luckily there was a divider between the two of you and the driver, granted it was just a sliding window, that doesn’t stop Jake from warming you up. He starts kissing any bit of your skin exposed, touching you in any way he can that won’t elicit too much attention from the driver. He runs his hands up your dress, dragging his rough fingers over your skin making his way to your hips. His lips are moving up your neck from your chest until he reaches your ear, tucking his thumbs into the waistband of your panties, he nibbles your ear.
“Can I take these off?” He whispers in your ear, tugging at your panties for approval.
“Anything you want, Captain.” You respond, waiting for any response regarding the pet name .
“Oh, naughty. You wanna walk this plank tonight?”
“Only if you help me control the waves.”
He slowly starts to pull your panties down your thighs, you lift up off the leather seat so he can slide them down your legs and off of your ankles. He raises them to his nose, taking in your scent , “If you make any noise, these go in your mouth, understand?” You shake your head ‘yes’ as he tucks your panties into his pocket. He puts his hands back under your dress, reaching for your exposed clit. Jake starts to work soft circles over you, just enough to make you writhe under his touch. He kisses up your neck again, making sure to leave marks, your breaths become sharp as you try to keep quiet. He drags his fingers down between your folds, collecting your slick on his fingers. Lingering his ring and middle finger at your entrance, he locks eye contact and pulls the top of your dress down with his free hand, exposing your left breast to the cool air. He keeps his eyes locked with yours watching for any sign of discomfort as he works his calloused fingers in, moving his warm tongue across your nipple. His thumb finds its way to your clit, you feel yourself getting closer but your orgasm is put on standby.
“We’re here, Mr. and Mrs. Kiszka.” The driver taps on the tinted window.
“Fuck, I’m sorry, baby. You know I don’t like doing that to you. Let me help you.” Jake mutters as he removes his fingers and helps you pull your dress over your breasts.
You guys stumble out of the van, Jake gets out the same side as you and picks you up bridal style. He carries you inside, flicking on the light with your heel. He sits you on the couch and gets on his knees to take your heels off, kissing the top of each foot after removing them.
“Tell me when you’re ready.” Jake’s rubbing his hands up and down your calves.
“I’m ready, Captain.” You giggle and reach down to run your fingers through his hair.
He stands up and grabs your hands, leading you off the couch, picking you up and tossing you over his shoulder. As he’s carrying you into the room you see an array of items splayed out across the dresser’s surface. A lit candle, rope and a sword to be exact. He gently tosses you onto the bed, making quick work to remove your wedding dress. You’re sitting naked on the bed as Jake goes and grabs the rope from the display.
“If it’s too much, tell me.”
“I will, Jakey.”
He lays you back on the bed, situating your legs open, tying each ankle to a bed post with a single column tie knot.
“Is that too tight?”
“No.”
Jake nods as he reaches up for your hands, tying them together in a simple handcuff knot, pushing them up above your head, body on full display. He goes back to the dresser and picks up the candle. You guys have only tried wax play once before, but it turned out well enough for you to agree to trying it again. Making his way back over, he hovers over your body tipping the candle at an angle. The hot wax drips onto your sternum and down your belly, earning Jake an audible gasp. The look in your eyes is one of pleasure and excitement. He lets a few more drops of wax find their way onto your skin, pooling in your dips. Once he’s satisfied with the coverage, he blows the candle out and returns it to the dresser. Impatience settles in while Jake’s waiting for the wax to solidify, he starts kissing you from the tops of your feet, trailing up your leg until he reaches your thigh, gently biting the flesh.
“Do you wanna try something old, or something new?” His eyes find their way to your face between the valley of your breasts.
“Something new.”
He stands back up and reaches for the sword off of the dresser. “It’s not sharp.” He drags the blade across the back of his arm to ensure you, but you know Jake would never do anything to harm you. He’s waving the sword in tiny figure 8s in front of himself as he walks towards you. He drags the cold blade up your leg and presses it on your clit, pulling away and gently tapping you with it, you jerk your body up. The sword finds its way to the wax pooling on your stomach as Jake scrapes it off with the back of the blade, squirming under the cold metal.
“You’re such a good girl, you know that?” He bends down and bites your stomach, cooling the sting with the blade.
Jake undoes his belt with one hand, placing the sword beside you on the bed with the other. He begins getting undressed, standing before you entirely unclothed. His cock is hard, hanging between his thighs begging to be touched. Jake slowly leans over you, his cock pressed against your stomach, he places a hand to your cheek as he passionately kisses you. You move your hands down trying to feel him under your fingers, but he’s quick to push them back where they belong.
“No touching.” He whispers.
He resumes kissing down your body, working his way down your neck and sternum making his way to your center. He licks a stripe making sure to pay extra attention to your previously neglected clit, lapping at you like he hasn’t tasted you in months. Jake’s looking up at you, eye contact being held between your breasts as he slips his fingers in where they once worked. You gasp at the feeling of his fingers stretching you out, waiting for him to replace them with something bigger. He slowly thrusts in and each time going as far back as he can reach, curling his fingers straight into what feels like your soul. Your grip starts to tighten around his fingers slowing his pace down, he places his free hand on your lower stomach to hold you down. Jake removes his lips from your clit, replacing them with the palm of his hand.
“C’mon, baby. Cum for me.”
He brings his body up more to let you taste yourself off his lips. Leaning in for a kiss, the taste of his whiskey kissed breath and your slick push you over the edge. You’re crying out his name, begging him to fuck you senseless. Jake slides his body back down lining up with you, working his cock in with his fingers still pumping inside. Your eyebrows scrunch together.
“Jake, too much, it’s too much.”
“Baby, I’m sorry.” He quickly slides his fingers out, leaving just his tip at your entrance. “Is this better?”
You nod, cheeks bright red from the heat. He pushes slowly until you take him entirely. Jake reaches for the sword and slides it in between the rope knotted around your wrists, he rips up with all his strength snapping the rope. “Do you want to touch me?” He asks as he tosses the sword on the floor and loosens the rope around your wrists. You reach up, locking your arms around his neck, moving your back off of the bed. Jake wraps his body under your arms around your torso, digging his nails into the space just shy of your armpits on either side. His grip is so tight, you’re positive you’ll have finger-shaped bruises on both sides before he’s done with you. You feel a shift in Jake’s demeanor, like something primal has woken up inside of him. Sweat starts beading up on his chest and forehead, his body temperature rising as he continues thrusting into you as fast as his body lets him move. He bends back and releases the rope from the bed posts, freeing your legs.
“Wrap your legs around me.”
You do as instructed, wrapping your legs around Jake’s back allowing him to hit your spot from a different angle. He moves one of his arms down to toy your clit, hoping to make you cum again. He messily flicks back and forth with his thumb, his pace growing faster and less coordinated. He starts to swivel his hips, his cock dancing inside of you. The movement’s feel like something you’ve seen before, it dawns on you he moves the same way on stage. The knowledge of Jake mimicking these movements becomes enough to bring you to the ledge, waiting to push you into the crashing waves. He feels you tightening around his width, pulling him under with you. He holds onto you like an anchor in a storm, taking him fully in you as your body thrashes like a ship, leaving you feeling like nothing more than a piece of driftwood yearning for land to rest on. Jake releases inside of you, the final set of waves to push you to shore, letting out a deep guttural moan. Jake’s weight is on top of you as he slowly comes back to his senses. He pulls out and lays beside you, pulling you into his side, peppering your temple with soft kisses. Silence washes over the dark room, moonlight barely poking through the curtains. He drags his fingers through your messy hair in attempts to comb it out.
“You felt so good. You’re always so good to me, my love.” He always makes it evident he worships the ground you walk on and the air you breathe.
He sits up out of bed, mindful of helping you get cleaned before he’s too tired. He grabs a towel and makeup wipes, he wipes his seed gently from your flower before wiping your running makeup off of your face. He tosses the towel on the floor on top of his dirty laundry and throws the wipes into the can below your bedside table. Jake grabs you back into his arms, barely pulling the covers over the both of you, snuggling his face into your neck as you fall asleep to the beat of his heart.

You were fast asleep in the comfort of your bed, the only noise being the sound of crashing waves playing from your TV, an ambience that you’ve found comforting. However, the absence of your boyfriend next to you was enough to wake you up.
Josh was nowhere to be seen. your hand runs over his spot on the bed, which was cold, meaning he had been gone for quite some time. Glancing over at your alarm clock, bright red letters tell you the time. 2:24 AM.
Carefully, you rise out of bed, still sore from birth, even though it’s been close to five weeks at this point, sliding your slippers on and grabbing a discarded t-shirt of Josh’s that laid on the end of the bed.
As you pad down the hall, you hear a faint voice coming from the nursery. Slowly, you approach the slightly cracked door and peer inside.
Josh sits in the rocking chair, gently rocking back and forth, having foregone a shirt, your daughter, Wren, laying against his bare chest, her hand perched in a fist against his collarbone. Josh’s hair was disheveled, unkempt as the journey of parenthood had overtaken him.
“My little bird,” he whispers to her, leaning in to place the softest and lightest kiss to her nose. She squirms in his arms and settles back down, a small smile on her face as she listens to her dad’s voice. “You are so beautiful, my angel.”
You had never heard him speak this low yet still be filled with so much love and adoration before. It melts your heart as you step just a bit closer, not wanting to tap the door to give your eavesdropping away.
“You have your mama’s kind eyes, don’t you?” He teases, bringing a finger up to trace around her features. Her big, brown eyes focused on the object in front of her, hypnotized in a way. You could tell, in the short few weeks that she has been here, that she’s a full blown daddy’s girl.
She’s got him wrapped around her finger, just as her tiny hand wraps around his. He grins and you could’ve sworn a tear fell from his eye just as she did that; even though she’s done it many times already, each time, it makes him swoon.
“Listen,” he starts, keeping his tone low still, “I know I may not be the best dad, but I am going to try my hardest. You are my world, next to your mama, of course. I know one day I won’t be here to care for you, and I have to accept that. But I know you’re going to find someone so special to take care of you.”
He pauses his little speech to wipe away a tear that had fallen down his cheek. He began to slowly rock again, wanting to soothe and calm her to try and get her to lay down for the night again.
“And I know you’re going to find that person, and I just hope that you know, when that day comes, and you spread your little wings and fly to someone else’s arms, that you know I loved you from the moment you came into this world, to the moment that I leave it. You hear me, little bird?”
Wren gurgles in response and Josh can’t help the watery chuckle that escapes him. He was beyond emotional, way too much for how late it was, but he couldn’t help it. He never expected to be in this position, caring for his daughter, a new light in his life, a new reason to live.
Softly, he starts to hum Annie’s Song to her, eliciting a yawn from her tiny mouth. His hand gently strokes along her back, your eyes finally adjusting enough to see that she was just in her diaper; Josh’s favorite thing ever was skin to skin, so it was no surprise that he had taken the bonding exercise up with her.
It reminded you of when you first came home from the hospital. Josh put everything away that was in your hospital bag, allowing you to rest, shower, and just come down from the emotions and roller coaster that was labor and childbirth.
You decided to take a shower as soon as you got home, being careful of the stitches you received during your c-section, but still taking the time to wash the feeling off and allowing your muscles to relax under the hot stream of water.
By the time you had gotten ready to crawl into bed, as it was nearing midnight at this point. As you step into your bedroom, you find Josh, laying flat on his back, shirtless, wearing a pair of sweats, with Wren laying on his chest, her onesie being set beside him.
Your heart soars at the sight and you quickly had to take a photo, Josh being asleep making it far too easy. However, you wake him up, needing to put her in her bassinet for the time being; you hated waking him, but you deserved some cuddle time too.
From that moment, skin to skin was his favorite pastime.
“I love you,” he whispers to her, having finally stilled and just about to fall completely asleep. Her eyes were droopy as he continued singing to her, leaning his head back and his own eyes falling closed for a moment.
That’s when you decide to make your presence known. What you didn’t know, though, was how you had your own tears in your eyes, listening to josh describe his love for her and talk about what it’ll be like when he’s no longer here for her.
“What are you doing up, honey?” He asks, instantly growing worried that something was wrong, especially with the tears clouding your eyes that he loves so much.
“I woke up and you weren’t there, so I came looking for you and…” you taper off, not knowing how to explain that you heard everything.
“How much did you hear?” He wonders, knowing that you were listening; he knows you far too well.
“Everything,” you mumble. He smiles and carefully stands up to place Wren in her crib, pausing for a moment to make sure she was okay, before gently, with help from you, slipping her onesie back on.
As soon as everything was secured and she was fast asleep, you pull Josh right into your arms, his face falling in the spot between your neck and shoulder. One of your hands plays with his messy hair while the other runs up and down his back.
“She’s five weeks old, Josh, we have a lifetime with her before she’s out in the world.”
“I know, darling. I just got to thinking how that day is going to come, where she’s not going to need us anymore and our little bird is going be on her own.”
“And that day won’t be for a while. We still have milestone birthdays, walking, starting school, going to daycare, everything.”
“But it’ll be here before we know it.” Sighing softly, you push away from Josh and grab his face in your hands.
“I know it’s tough to think about. I get it. But let’s not think about what the future holds, alright?” Josh takes a deep breath, more tears welling up in his brown eyes.
“W-what if I don’t show her how much I love her?” His voice cracks and in an instant, you are bringing him back into your arms as he cries into your shoulder. “I wanna be a good dad, but I fear that I don’t know how.”
“Hey, shh. It’s not going to be easy sometimes. And that’s okay. We can’t be perfect, but I know for a fact that she will know you love her with your entire heart. You’re already showing her and she can’t even comprehend anything right now. But she senses the love you have and the love you’ve given her so far. The way she smiles when she hears your voice, how she instantly calms down and goes to sleep when you sing John Denver to her. Josh, I have no doubt in my mind that she will forever know how much you love her.”
Silence hangs in the air as Josh takes in your words.
“Thank you,” he whispers, placing a kiss to your exposed neck. “You are incredible, and I don’t know what I’d do without you, love.”
“I love you, Josh. I always will.” There’s another pause before Josh takes your hand and guides you out of the nursery, quietly closing the door and turning back on the monitor he had brought in with him.
Bringing you back to your room, he helps you get settled into bed again, being mindful of your scars and everything. He holds you close and kisses your forehead.
“What do you think she’ll turn out to be like?” He asks, wanting to start another conversation but wanting it to be lighthearted.
“I think she’ll be talented, like you and your brothers. Maybe Jake can show her how to play guitar. No drums, though.” Josh laughs a real, hearty laugh, a sign that his mood was already improving.
“I’d love for her to continue the family tradition, it’d be nice to see.”
“I know she’ll be proud to do so if she decides to.”
Josh curls up into your side and sighs deeply, nuzzling his face into your neck.
“Get some rest, Josh,” you whisper, threading your fingers through his hair. His eyes flutter closed, the crashing waves consuming the both of you, as well as thoughts of your small family, your mind filled with all the facts that prove Josh is, and will continue to be, the best damn dad in the world.

Times You’ll Remember Well - j.t.k
Tumblr media
pairing: jake x f. reader (dad!jake)
content warning: none except there’s so much domestic Jake your heart might just fall out of your chest…
word count: 1.8k (just a short lil blurb for ya)
Jake’s back from tour, soaking up the time with you and your two kids. The four of you spend a day hiking and enjoying the Tennessee sun.
—————
“Dadddddyyy,” your daughter called from the living room. Jake was standing in the kitchen, two lunch boxes in front of him, cutting the crusts off two sandwiches.
“What my love,” he called back, putting the sandwiches in baggies and placing them into their respective lunch boxes.
“Daddy, I need helpppp,” she yelled, sounding frustrated as Jake stepped away from his task and walked out of the room, following her little voice.
He found his three-year-old daughter sitting on the floor next to the couch, wrestling with the laces of her new hiking boots. They were tan with purple trim and purple laces. When she had seen them in the store, her eyes had grown wide and she’d twisted in Jake’s arms to reach for the shoes, telling him that if she wore them, she would get “Purple Powers” which was a special magic that made her super strong and able to go on any adventure, no matter how hard. Jake had laughed and kissed her cheek, silently thanking the universe for his child’s imagination. He didn’t care that the shoes were on the more expensive side or the fact that she’d grow out of them in six months no doubt, he simply placed them in the cart.
“Daddy I can’t do it,” she pouted as he crouched next to her on the floor, tugging one of her feet into his lap.
“It’s okay, bug. Here, let me show you.” He tightened up the laces, folding them into a bow and tying a knot. “See?”
“Now I try,” she insisted, always little-miss-independent. She pulled at the laces of her other shoe, guided by Jake’s steady hands as he helped her tie the bow. “Daddy! Daddy! I have all the Purple Power now!” Jake chuckled to himself as he watched her stomp around the couch, lost in her own little imaginary world.
He headed back into kitchen, finishing up the rest of the lunches and setting them up the kitchen island so you wouldn’t forget them on your way out.
Jake was super excited for the day. He’d been home from tour for a few weeks, soaking up all the time with you and the kids and today he had planned a family hike. The trail he’d chosen wasn’t too difficult, especially since you had two kids under 3, but it was one of your favorites, with lush trees and a perfect lookout point at the top.
His thoughts for the day ahead were interrupted when he heard, “Daddddyy!” ringing through the house again.
“Yes bug,” He called but before he could go to find her, she ran into the kitchen nearly running smack into him. Using her momentum, Jake swung her into his arms, propping her up on his hip.
“Daddy, I need your help again.”
“Anything, my love.”
“Mommy said she would put my hair into two piggies but she makes them too tight. Can you put my hair into piggies?” Her eyes grew wide as she made a pouty face that she knew he would do anything for.
Jake chuckled again at how absolutely wrapped around her finger he was.
“Two piggies coming right up, bug.” He carried her out of the kitchen and up the stairs. Setting her down on the sink counter in the master bath, he looked through the drawers for his daughter’s sparkly purple hairbrush.
“Where’s your brush? I thought I saw it yesterday.” Jake asked her. She shrugged, kicking her feet against the counter cabinets.
Sighing, he picked her up again and said, “Okay then, let’s go ask mommy.”
He looked for you in the master bedroom, but finding that it was empty he knew that you were probably getting your two year old son ready for the day. Sure enough, when he stepped into the hallway he could hear you talking to your son in a soft voice.
“Hey sugar,” he said, leaning against the doorframe, “have you seen bug’s hairbrush?”
Your son’s little hands gripped the sleeves of your shirt as you helped him step into a pair of comfy khaki joggers.
“It should be in her room next to Mr. Tiger. I think they were playing hairdresser yesterday,” you replied, looking up briefly and smiling at your husband.
Your daughter’s face lit up as she wiggled from Jake’s arms. “Mr. Tiger has it! Mr. Tiger has it!”
He followed her into the room next door to find her digging in her pile of stuffed animals all piled on top of her twin bed.
“I found it daddy!” she exclaimed, her head popping up between a teddy bear and a squishmallow that was nearly half her size.
“Alright, well let’s hop to it buggy, we need to get going.”
It only took Jake a few minutes to brush through his daughters characteristically Kiszka tangles and put her hair into two pigtails on the top of her head.
“Okay,” he said holding up two different accessories, “do you want the green butterflies or the purple bows?”
“PURPLE! PURPLE! PURPLE!”
He could’ve guessed. The girl knew what she liked. Jake clipped the bows into her hair and leaned down to kiss her cheek lightly.
“All done. Do you want to go see if mommy and your brother are ready to go?”
She excitedly jumped down from the counter calling out, “Mommy! Mommy! Daddy says we’ve got to go!”
-
Getting out of the house with two kids… A much more difficult feat than you or Jake would’ve ever expected, but after a few minutes of gathering backpacks, waterbottles, and the lunch boxes, you found yourself buckling your daughter into her car seat.
“Wow, look at these bows!” you said, pushing back a small stray hair behind her ear. “Did daddy put these in for you?”
“Yes, but I picked them out!” she grinned back at you.
You loved her happiness. Everyday she reminded you of the best parts of you and Jake, but with her own unique flare that made her light up any room she entered.
Once everyone was buckled in and ready to go you hopped in the passenger seat. Jake pulled out of the driveway and onto the road, laying a hand on your thigh and lovingly running his thumb over your leg.
It took thirty minutes to reach the start of the trail, the kids talking back and forth nonstop. Before you knew it, you were unbuckling the carseat straps and collecting everything to head on your way.
You and Jake each had a backpack that held everything you needed for your family's little adventure and your daughter had a little one that just held her waterbottle and the small stuffed animal she insisted on bringing from home. Your son, though he could walk just fine, just wanted to focus on holding Jake’s hand as the four of you started down the trail.
You were thankful the hike wasn’t difficult because it took about twice as long to make your way along the path with a toddler and a firecracker asking questions a mile a minute.
The majority of the hike was spent navigating over tree roots and identifying every Tennessee-native plant you came across. The latter was your daughter’s new favorite game. She couldn’t get enough of testing her father’s flora knowledge and would ask nearly every five steps, “What's this one called daddy?”
The whole family would stop to investigate, looking at the delicate flowers or the thin waving stems as Jake would rub his pointer finger and thumb over his chin and answer, “It looks like Eastern Blue Stars,” or “Thimbleweed”. When she asked about plants he didn’t know he simply responded, “Let’s take a picture of it buggy and Uncle Sammy can tell us later.”
After nearly an hour of the game, the sun was high in the sky, warming you but the light breeze kept you from getting too hot. You enjoyed the sun and the fresh air almost as much as you just basked in the joy that was uninturruped family time. The kids began exploring under the strict ground rule of staying close to you and Jake and always staying on the trail. Their independent adventure gave you and Jake time to talk, his fingers laced with your own. You talked about everything from what you were going to make for dinner later to the prank that Sam and Danny pulled on Josh in the studio last week. It was a perfect afternoon. Jake was entirely relaxed and completely in his element. There were no bags under his eyes like there had been the night he’d gotten home from tour, the extended weeks at home giving him a rejuvenated glow that made you smile everytime you looked at him.
“We’re almost there kiddos,” Jake called behind him to your children who had become distracted by a big caterpillar crawling across a low-hanging branch. Your daughter looked up and then ran ahead of Jake as you stayed back, taking your son’s hand and helping him up a big rock step.
“Daddy I beat you!” she exclaimed, waving her arms above her head until Jake caught up with her. He immediately picked her up into a big bear hug, tickling her sides and kissing her face.
“I can’t believe it! You’re so quick! It must be all that Purple Power!” he joked as she giggled, happy with her victory.
Though you and Jake had done this hike before, the view still amazed you. As you looked out to the horizon, it seemed like you could see forever and ever, especially on such a clear and sunny day. You picked up your son and perched him on your hip as you both looked at all the tiny trees in the distance.
You looked over your shoulder to see that Jake had done the same thing, your daughter pointing outwards from his arms.
“Look daddy, those look like houses for ants!” she exclaimed, pointing at a small town pretty far out.
“Maybe you could live in one. They’re the perfect size for a bug like you!” he quipped back making her giggle uncontrollably.
“Oh daddy, you’re so silly,” you said as you walked over to a large flat rock that was the perfect size for a little picnic. “Okay, who’s hungry?”
You were answered by a chorus of “Me! Me’s!” from both kids and your husband as you began unpacking all the goodies from your backpacks. Once everyone was happily muching on sandwiches and chips you took out your phone and snapped a picture of your family with the view behind them.
You smiled as you looked up from the photo, not wanting to miss a single moment. These were the times you’d remember well.
Author’s Note: Hey hey! I hope you liked this cute lil Jakey blurb, it definitely got me in my feels while I was writing it… something about domestic Jake just makes me absolutely feral lmao.
Also, I’m thinking about making the jake!dad fics more of a unified storyline but I’m hesitant to name the kids… what do y’all think? No names?, “child’s/name”, or should I pick something? Let me know what you think and if you have any potential name ideas (though I am very partial to the “bug” nickname hehe)
As always, Love and Light and pls let us know all your ideas and suggestions! <3

You and Sam sat on the edge of your daughter's bed to tuck her in for the night. Sam put the book he had just read to her on her nightstand and pulled the blankets up around her.
You flicked on her nightlight and tiny purple stars from it dimly lit up the ceiling and walls.
You each told her you loved her, gave her kisses, and got up to leave.
You were both at the door and Sam had his hand on the lightswitch when her words stopped him.
“Daddy, you didn’t check,” she said.
He gasped, turned around, and smiled at her, “I’m sorry, Angel. How could I forget?” he said as he walked back into the room.
You leaned against the doorway and watched him.
“If there’s any monsters in there, you better leave now. I’m coming!” he called as he walked over to her closet door.
He put his hand on the door handle and looked at her as she pulled herself further under her covers.
Quickly, he opened the door with an “Ah-ha! Gotcha!” and a karate chop motion as if he was actually catching someone or something in there.
His expression faded and he turned to her with a smirk on his face.
She giggled at him.
He looked around in the closet some more, pushing past hanging clothes to check the entire inside. When he was done, he closed the door and said, “Nothing,” with confidence.
Sam walked back over to the bed and got down onto his hands and knees. He lifted up her bedskirt, tilted his head sideways, and stuck it under the bed frame.
“Nothing down here either!” he called out with his voice muffled.
He popped back up off the floor and sat up on his knees. He leaned on the bed with his elbows.
“No monsters,” he assured her.
“Are you sure?” she asked.
“Of course I’m sure. I’m not gonna let anything happen to you,” he replied, “Besides, remember what I always tell you.”
“I am brave,” she said confidently.
“Right,” he said, pointing at her, “You are brave and you are strong. But now, little one, you need to go to sleep. We have a big day tomorrow- first day of preschool. You have to get some rest, okay?”
Sam leaned over to kiss her head and she nodded, smiled, and closed her eyes.
He stood up all the way and walked back to meet you in the door frame. He gave her one last look before he turned the light out and closed the door softly.
You both walked down stairs and into the kitchen. He sat down at the island as you packed her lunchbox.
“Do you think she’ll cry tomorrow?” he asked, eyeing up her new backpack that was waiting by the front door.
You shook your head.
“She’ll be fine. The question is, are you gonna cry tomorrow?” you asked, smiling.
He smiled and nodded, “Oh, absolutely I am.”
“You’re going to have to do some of those affirmations to yourself in the mirror,” you teased.
Sam laughed, raised his pointer finger in the air, and said, “I am brave. I am strong.”
Josh:
Tumblr media
The sounds of the rain outside your bedroom window lulled you to sleep and kept you asleep. That was, however, until those calming sounds quickly turned into crashes of thunder and bolts of lighting which seemed to shake the entire house. A particularly loud crash of thunder woke you and Josh up.
You both moved around in bed a little, hoping to fall back asleep. But within minutes, the door to your bedroom opened and you heard a little voice call out.
“Daddy?” she said, sniffling.
In the darkness, Josh sat up, pulled the sheets off him and got out of bed. He walked over to her, knelt down in front of her, and pushed her curly hair out of her face, which was wet with her tears.
“What’s wrong, Baby?” he whispered.
“I’m scawed,” she cried.
He picked her up, groaning as he lifted her, and carried her back over to the bed.
You turned over toward his direction and sat up on your elbow a bit. She had her legs wrapped around his waist and her arms wrapped around his neck.
“Is she okay?” you asked in a groggy voice.
“Yeah, she’s scared, that’s all. I got her. Go back to sleep, Mama.”
Josh placed her down in between the two of you and covered her up in blankets. She held on tight to a little brown bear she carried with her everywhere. He laid down next to her and whispered to her to calm her down as the thunder and lightning continued outside.
“It’s okay, Baby. It’s just thunder. But I know it’s scary,” he whispered, “But it’ll be over soon. And the sun will come back out. I promise.”
It was quiet for a minute before she spoke.
“Like da itsy bitsy spidew?” she asked in a whisper.
He let out a laugh and a sigh, “Right, just like the itsy bitsy spider.”
She lifted her hands and made a little spider with her fingertips. She began doing the hand motions to the song and started singing to herself.
“Da itsy bitsy spidew, went up da wader spout,” she whispered.
“Down came the rain and washed the spider out,” he sang softly as he spread his fingers out.
“Out came da sun and dwied up all da rain,” she continued, wiggling her fingers like they were shining.
“And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again,” they both sang as they both made the spider with their fingers again.
After they finished singing, the storm let up some. The thunder and lightning stopped, and the only sounds came from the sound of rain hitting the roof.
And after a few minutes, you began to fall asleep to the sound of your daughter breathing next to you, and Josh’s light snoring next to her.
Jake:
Tumblr media
You and Jake were laying on the couch watching a movie when the pitter patter of footsteps coming down the stairs made you both sit up a little and turn your heads towards the living room entryway.
In walked your three year old daughter in her pajamas with her blanket covering her face from her nose down.
When she saw the two of you were awake, her little legs came running over to the couch and she jumped into Jake’s lap. She laid down on his chest and put her thumb in her mouth.
“Woah, hey, what happened?” he asked softly.
She didn't answer. Instead, she buried her face into the blanket that was covering him.
“Did you have a bad dream?” he asked, stroking her head.
She nodded.
Jake held her right. He stroked her head and up and down her back and whispered, “Shhh. It’s okay. You’re safe. I got you.”
He wasn’t lying. Being in his arms felt like being in the safest place in the world.
After a few minutes, her crying faded, and Jake spoke again.
“You know what always helps me when I have bad dreams?” he asked softly.
She lifted her head just a bit to look up at him with her big Jake eyes. She shook her head and sniffled.
“Ice cream,” he whispered as his eyes widened and a small smile crept onto his face. “How’s that sound, hm?”
You couldn’t see much of her face but you could tell from her eyes that she was smiling back.
He sat up and sat her up with him. He placed her on the couch and wrapped her up with the blanket that was previously covering him. She continued holding her blanket and sucking her thumb with her free hand.
“You stay here with Mommy and I’ll be right back, okay? You want Oreo or chocolate?”
“Oweo,” she answered.
Of course she wanted Oreo. Cookies N’ Cream was Jake’s favorite. So naturally, it was hers too.
He looked at you and his eyes silently asked you if you wanted any. You waved him off and shook your head. You had every intention of going upstairs to sleep the second he came back.
You put on a movie for her and helped her dry her face while Jake spent a few minutes in the kitchen.
He returned with two bowls of ice cream in his hands and handed her one. A small smile lit up her face as she looked down into the bowl to see Jake gave her just a little bit more than he normally would.
“Oooh, what are we watching?” he asked as he settled down next to her and pulled some of the blanket onto his legs so they were now sharing it.
“Moana,” she said in her little voice, pointing to the television.
“Oooh, Moana? My favorite,” he replied. Again, he wasn’t lying.
You kissed her goodnight on the cheek and tasted ice cream on Jake’s lips as you kissed him.
“I’ll put her to bed once she falls asleep and come up in a little bit,” he whispered as you pulled away from him.
“Kay,” you replied.
You gave them one last look as you left the room. She had cuddled herself into his side and her eyes were wide and she carefully scooped some ice cream out of her bowl and into her mouth.
Jake was right, ice cream did make her feel better.
You woke up the next morning in an empty bed, which was unusual. You walked into the hallway to see your daughter’s bedroom door open and her bed empty as well.
When you walked downstairs and into the living room, you smiled at the sight of two empty bowls on the coffee table, Jake cuddled up in blankets on one end of the couch, and your daughter on the other.
Author's Note: I thought these were cute and I like how they’re short and sweet. Enjoy! Pls don’t ask for Dad Danny- idk him like that.

Imagine,
You and Jake’s child has just gotten old enough to walk and hold things, so he goes out and buys him/her a little toy guitar.
He sits on the floor with his guitar and hands the baby the little guitar he got for them. They stand there examining it for a moment, before the baby hobbles closer and bonks him on the head with it.
Jake just laughs it off, rubbing his head and jokingly says, “I never really considered this new technique. What have I been thinking?”

Going through the car wash with the kids, knowing they're terrified of it, but the car needs to be washed desperately.
He has to stifle his laugh as he listens to their terrified screams in the backseat.
