It’s from “At Home” but considering the workers couldn’t find any mention of this thing on their website or in their inventory I think it’s safe to say it’s not widely available right now.  Definitely check in their clearance sections (ours has multiple) just in case, though!

56. favorite tradition?

I like the Christmas pickle tradition where you put a pickle ornament on the tree for good luck, which my family hasn’t really done, but I think it’s the perfect amount of silly. My family used to have a Mother’s Day tradition of going to Schreiner’s Iris Garden when we lived in Oregon that was fun. We’d go with my mom, gramma, great grandma and great aunt along with whatever family was around which was fun.

98. favorite historical era? (I answered before but here it is again 😊)

The Progressive Era (America 1890-1920s) because of the widespread social change and just the absolute “done-ness” of the working class. It’s something that isn’t taught well in basic public school (in my opinion and experience) but could be used as a starting point and blueprint for a lot of the things we are working on in our current political climate

Nicknames: Never really had any, unless you count an amalgamation of mine and my sister’s names that gets yelled whenever the family doesn’t care which of us comes

Real Name: I’m still refraining from openly sharing it on here for now, but you can refer to me as Em.

Zodiac Sign: Aries, barely. Actually, my birthday is coming up real soon on the 23rd. According to a professional horoscope reader, I have strong Pisces tendencies as well.

Favorite musicians/groups: There’s so much music I like and I’m so bad about remembering group names. Delta Rae and Dorothy are some of the acts I’ve seen in concert, both were great, Dorothy is southern-flavored hard rock and Delta Rae is contemporary folk/gothic americana.

Favorite Sports Team: Don’t follow sports much, but I do enjoy the Minnesota Twins (baseball).

Other Blogs: @sassyminnesotan is my original blog and sadly tumblr doesn’t let you switch main blogs, so if you see that account in your notifications it’s me. I still use it for fandom and other random crap that’s not anthropology focused.

Do you get asks: Not often, once a month at most. Speaking of, I love asks, please don’t hesitate to send me anything, I promise I don’t bite.

How many blogs do you follow: ...389. I want to follow both more and less, more because there are so many awesome people out there and less because I get easily overwhelmed.

Tumblr crushes: @fatehbaz is pretty much my favorite blog because they post lots of original content and it’s all geography based

Lucky number: I don’t really have one. Never associated very strongly with any one number in particular.

What are you wearing: Rainbow paisley leggings and zebra-striped shirt. They clash hideously and I would never leave the house in this outfit but it’s comfy.

Dream Vacation: I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s not the destination I care about as much as I care about my experience. A perfect vacation would involve living with local people for at least 2 weeks and having them be my guide and introducing me to their local culture, with some time to explore on my own.

Dream Car: I know nothing about car brands, or what makes one engine different from another, I only know just enough that I can take of basic mechanical problems by myself and know when I need to take it in. Best car would be a very reliable car big enough to haul stuff in, but not too big, and ideally with a sunroof.

Favorite food: How dare you expect me to select a single favorite food. Food is too powerful to have one single item that is more powerful than all others.

Drink of choice: See the food comment. Also depends on the time of day and the social situation. Out during the day? Coffee. At home? Tea. At a bar? Depending on the bar, fancy cocktails or beer. I will drink practically anything, but the social circumstances are key to my decision.

Instruments: Voice. I love singing so much. Minimal piano skills. Clarinet, and I used to be very good at it. Ukulele, for funsies. Music is life and I wish I could play all the instruments.

Languages: English (American) as a first language. Some French. Once upon a time I was fluent in Italian but I haven’t spoken it regularly in years. I also try to know how to say ‘hello,’ ‘please,’ and ‘thank you’ in as many languages as I possibly can.

Celebrity crushes: None really. I know there are actors and celebrities who’s work I like, but I don’t care enough to be able to name any off the top of my head.

Hands (Christmas Version) by Jewel. I think this song was the first pandora station I ever made, and it was everything I loved in music circa 7th grade. It’s still pretty good in 2019.

Tbh I am really excited for a female artist to cover it--it’s a great song and of course Hozier does an amazing job with it, but honestly I feel like something about the song just kinda makes me want to listen to a woman to sing it, if that makes any kind of sense?

59. why i joined tumblr

I honestly can’t remember. I think I had vague notions of creating a blog with actual content. what a pot of absolute nonsense, amiright?

8. have you ever cried because you were so annoyed?

I don’t think I’ve ever cried from pure annoyance, but I have definitely cried from frustration, which can come from being unable to resolve an annoyance. But I also tend to suppress certain emotions like anger- I either squash it down into annoyance or turn it inward on myself. So sometimes when I cry I’m not really sure what’s causing it because I’m not sure what I’m feeling. I’ve actually been thinking about the anger thing a lot recently, for two reasons. One, I was involved in a hit and run, and I wanted to be angry, I felt some anger, but in the end I was just annoyed and sad. Which is stupid; I SHOULD be able to be angry at that. Two, many of my teammates (fencing) say that when they get angry they can use that to focus and help them fence better, and turn on the intensity they need to win the bout, and they yell when they get good touches and they say that yelling feels like a release of energy and tension. But when I get angry while fencing I just start feeling terrible about my fencing abilities. So I want to learn to externalize my anger and actually be angry!

27. things i hate

Bread. I hate the spongy texture. So flatbread or bread that is mostly crust is ok. Cheese. When my roommate doesn’t rinse the dishes before starting the dishwasher so they don’t come out clean and then PUTS THEM AWAY ANYWAY. Shoes that squeeze my toes or try to support my arch (so, 99% of shoes). My shoulder pain.
