Cadre Wines, San Luis Obispo CA Sea Queen Albariño Tasting notes: 'On the nose, this wine bursts with spicy citrus and salty zest. There is a seductive orange blossom and jasmine aspect paired with what I dub as Hawaiian breakfast fruits. You can definitely smell the sea influence on this wine as there are briny notes that speak to the nearby Pacific Ocean. White flower notes are ever so present, but an exotic mix of citrus and tropical fruit reigns.' Review: They aren't kidding about the minerality and high acidity. You can't drink this by itself. The jasmine is only present on the nose and disappears after the third sip. This varietal cannot be compared to other ubiquitous white wines. I'd present this as a first wine in the early afternoon with small bites of mild cheese and fruits. It's bright and must be served cool. (please for the love do not put ice straight into your wine). Might be good as a base for a drink that calls for prosecco if you don't like prosecco. A strawberry spritzer or pineapple cocktail. Gorgeous artwork. All their bottles are 'pretty' and of course I love the name. They also carry one called "Ode to the Sea". Personal notes: Paso Robles, Pismo, Cambria... all these places are dear to my Californian heart. The time I've spent in the area helps influence how I understand this particular wine.

Jasmine Robles escaped Hargreeves’s clutches as a baby, but after writing a book about her life as one of the 43 miracle kids, she was introduced to Vanya Hargreeves, who had just written a book of her own. While Jasmine was immediately smitten, she doubted Vanya would ever feel the same about her with her powers. So the two became friends and moved in together, but when Reginald dies, Jasmine goes to the funeral with Vanya to offer moral support.

The second she sets foot on the property, Jasmine can feel the issues of the remaining Hargreeves kids radiating off them, and it only gets worse when Five shows up with stories of an impending apocalypse. She’d always wondered what her life would have been like if she had been given to Hargreeves, but now, she’s happy to be one of the thirty-six he couldn’t get.

Cuban Arroz con Pollo

cuban arroz con pollo

I have been spending most of my waking moments in the kitchen, like many of you out there. It brings me a lot of joy to be able to recreate dishes from other chefs and cooks on social media. Today I wanted to make arroz con pollo, for husband and dad. Husband loves a good authentic Cuban dish. This is my first time making it and it was a success. Yay! And dad loved it!

Here was my version for measurements sake.

Ingredients:

4 plumpy organic chicken legs, cut, brown leg bone and pieces.

1 onion, diced

2 carrots, diced

1 green bell pepper, diced (and a few slivers for size and texture)

(For next time, I need pimientos - 1 jar diced)

1 bulb garlic, choppy minced

1 big orange for my garden (very tarty and sweet and full of flavor) - recipe called for (bitter orange - powder or marinade)

1 big cup of frozen peas (added a pat of butter and water, the heat in microwave)

(for next time, a can of asparagus, cut)

1 cup white wine, Twisted Chardonnay (recipe called for 2)

2 cups chicken stock (i added saffron to this)

1 small can of tomato sauce

3 cups rice (long grain) I used jasmine

1 bottle of beer (almost used the whole thing - Modelo)

For next time (1 tsp Bijol or Goya seasoning con Azafran) or maybe or I may stick to my mix - garlic powder, onion powder, salt, cumin, tumeric, saffron)

1 tsp Oregano

1 tsp cumin (I used less, cumin seeds, grounded)

2 bay leaves

Salt and Pepper

EVOO

Butter

Directions:

Prepare chicken broth (better than boullilon) add some saffron.

Coat chicken with orange seasoning with garlic and marinade for 2 hours.

Season chicken with S & P, then brown in cast iron braiser with EVOO and butter. Set aside.

In same pan, heat EVOO and make sofrito - onions, garlic, bell pepper, carrots until soft.

Add: peas, (for future, asparagus and pimientos with liquids), S & P, bay leaf, cumin, oregano, wine and broth.

Pour rice in the rice and add seasoning (for future Bijol and Goya) and saffron to color and flavor rice)

Bring to a boil, then simmer for 40 minutes or so. Check and stir it. Rice should be soft and liquids absorbed. If there is still liquid keep cooking. Check often. Add beer and let it absorb.

Wine pairing: 2014 Bodegas, Paso Robles, Azul. Yes this is a red. I prefer reds. and may I say, it paired very well.

× WHAT DOES YOUR MUSE SMELL LIKE?

when he’s not obscuring his scent for subterfuge; musky perfumes of lavender, mint, spices, jasmine, smokey incenses, cinnamons, heady florals like poppies / opium, etc - he rotates his perfume choices near daily. without any perfume, his just normal scent is a very strange, alien, warm musk like smoke, spice, or brimstone. hardly pungent, just a mahjarrat smell. they don’t sweat but just smell like home planet and hot earth. plus, sliske runs hot, temperature-wise, and it makes perfume a bit diffused easier.

× HOW OFTEN DOES YOUR MUSE BATHE/SHOWER? ANY HABITS?

daily. twice if he feels like it. ever since he was introduced to actual water, bathing is his favorite. freneskae didn’t have water and the thought of mahjs learning about water and getting a good jet of water under dusty ass skull / body ridges and more had to feel GOOD. sliske holds hygiene highly and is already prettttty high maintenance, to begin with. he’ll also use all the hot water and sit in there for hours, he doesn’t care. it has to be scalding. he’ll also be the annoying fucker to sit in a silk bathrobe afterwards.

× DOES YOUR MUSE HAVE ANY TATTOOS OR PIERCINGS?

while he loves the idea of piercings, he has none due to the paranoia of them getting ripped or caught on anything.... tbh if he were to get pierced.... it would be in a lewd place. he does like jewelry and miiiiiight get his ears pierced with some neat studs and hanging ones since his ears are.... long n’ pointy. if they didn’t heal so fast!!! on tattoos, he has built in ones that he’s very proud of. getting to see a mahjarrat’s bodily stripes is a monumental thing.

× ANY BODY MOVEMENT QUIRKS? ( E.G. KNEE SHAKES? )

constant hand wringing. surprisingly, he doesn’t just do it when scheming; he also does it when nervous or uncomfortable, it almost makes it impossible to tell the emotion since he does it SO MUCH. sliske gesticulates a lot and tends to dramatically bow when he arrives or leaves, not always, but when he sees fit. he strokes his chin quite often when thinking or perturbed. anger comes in the form or clenching and unclenching hands or sharp, direct motions. usually when relaxed he can be stark still. when working on jewelry or armor, other small careful tasks.... he does stick the tip of his forked tongue out. :y

× WHAT DO THEY SLEEP IN? UNDERWEAR OR PJS?

if he can get away with it, nothing ( he’s... internal ). Being wrapped in nothing but blankets to him is bliss and safe. mahjarrats don’t sleep unless wounded, stressed, or bored. sliske likes to APPEAR as if he is sleeping and thinks deeply for hours if let alone and likes to be cocooned up. when he can’t get away with being a striped, naked alien, he opts for a long, silk plain robe, usually what he wears under his outer robes on most days. it’s also considered casual wear to him when he doesn’t look like a stupid fucking peacock-cobra.

× WHAT’S THEIR FAVOURITE PIECE OF CLOTHING?

that sTUPID FUCKING COLLAR. he’s actually not that hard to convince to go without his normal getup, but he likes tight, fitted silk suits, or really bad/lewd novelty sweaters/shirts. he has expensive tastes and also trash tastes.

× HOW DO THEY SLEEP? POSITION

as above, he usually doesn’t unless injury, stress, or passing the time. but when he does it’s either a.) is not asleep but pretending to be, b.) in a very light REM snooze, 3.) MINI DEATH COMA. good luck getting him out of number 3 -- if you can find him because he’s probably holed up in the shadow realm and regenerating from an injury where only few can access if he aids you. alone, he sleeps in a tight fetal position, with someone uhhh, it depends on your relationship with him but prepare for anything from his back pressed against you to iron grip cuddles.

seeings as mahjarrat literally translates to dreams of mah, their creator, and are hinted at being living versions of her nightmares, sliske can be nightmare prone to certain events in his life he’s not likely to open up about and wake suddenly and just decide to not go back to sleep.

× WHAT DO THEIR HANDS FEEL LIKE?

he tries to keep them soft and they are for the most part sans the very light to medium scarring along his fingertips, palms, and wrists from casting erratic spells, countering spells, and working with tools and blades. his knuckles are ridged, not rough, but rather firm.

× IF YOU KISSED THEM, WHAT WOULD THEY USUALLY TASTE LIKE?

mint or cinnamon mostly. on a rare day, honey since he likes to eat small amounts of it for texture and taste. he kisses rough so it’s not too advised and might turn to the tang of iron because of teeth and like to nip at lips.
